481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto being way better when it comes to tracking - what we always said on: August 14, 2020, 09:25:07 PM
Government should consider the way to make bitcoin better and forget about this conspiracy. Everyone know fiat too is been used for illicit things and it is also guilty of laundering. So just because it is used for all this bad thing, shall will now say they should ban fiat. You look for a better approach to reduce the extent of wrongly use of a technology for bad things while you improve the important aspect of the crypto
482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Worldwide blockchain university program takeoff on: August 14, 2020, 04:04:37 PM

The Oasis University Program is joining forces with blockchain network operators to provide students with real-world experience.
Numerous international universities and blockchain technology companies have joined hands to introduce the Oasis University Initiative, which seeks to provide students with the first-hand interest in designing emerging innovations such as blockchain.

The initiative would provide student blockchain groups and organizations across many colleges with connections to blockchain teams and blockchain network providers, according to the Oasis Foundation, an organization focusing on creating a democratic digital ecosystem, and the Oasis Network, a flexible, privacy-first platform.

The initiative has over 25 founder partners and is the largest to be built on a blockchain network, according to Oasis Foundation. The goal is to pull together a wide group of people who are concerned about data protection and open networks.

As active users of the Oasis community, university leaders create applications, operate validators, and participate in governance on the Oasis Network, said the Base. The program also offers technical assistance, tutorials, and full access to occurrences centered on accountable data such as the ongoing Responsible Data Summit.

483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian banks freezing bank accounts AGAIN ! on: August 14, 2020, 01:34:28 PM
Some of this bank fear being penalized for being involved in helping transacting money earn illegally or through a scam and which is the reason why many of them freeze an account of the customer. I have ones read about a money that was sent through Paxful transaction to a bank but later, it was discovered that the money comes from scam settlement. Such is part of the reason why they freeze accounts. If anyone has his account frozen then he should find out the reason behind it. Especially in countries where crypto is legal
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos: HEX offered me 10 BTC to show that it is not a scam on: August 14, 2020, 01:23:30 PM
Someone like Andreas who has a lot of integrity to protect will not want to jeopardize his name and everything he has worked for. It is very funny how the HEX team is desperately looking for someone with a big name in crypto to clean up their mess but they could not think about their project before being engulfed in a scam. This is an eye-opener in case we see someone renown suddenly taking aside and making HEX look like a saint. Then we should know he/she must have collected the 10 BTC Andrea rejected
485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Germany Continues Shutting All Unlicensed Bitcoin ATMs on: August 14, 2020, 09:50:47 AM

The Federal Financial Regulation Authority (FFSA) or BaFin, the body responsible for overseeing cryptocurrency service providers, was in the midst of cracking down on both illegal and unregulated Bitcoin ATMs.

According to a Bitcoinnews.com article, the closure accompanies a regulation that took effect last January ordering crypto-service operators to receive BaFin authorization.

German BaFin regulators have found a range of illegal Bitcoin ATMs running in Germany, and at least one firm, the Estonia-licensed Virtual Planet OÜ operated by the Shitcoin Club, has issued an order to halt the activity of Bitcoin ATMs in the region, according to the article.

Another central Bitcoin ATM provider, Coin Fellows, was told to stop all activities in Germany by the end of July.

Bitcoin traders in Germany opposed the closure, arguing that the BaFin criteria are too stringent for small enterprises and are best appropriate to banks and major financial entities.

The U.S. Department of Justice has already started cracking down on illegal bitcoin ATMs and recently confiscated 17 computers in California, according to the article.
486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Crypto Mining: Miners Arrested for Stealing Electricity From the State on: August 14, 2020, 09:32:27 AM
When the Malaysian police learned that they stole energy from the power provider Sarawak Energy Berhad or the SEB, they detained four crypto-currency miners.

The police spent two days clamping down on four townhouses, reportedly containing bitcoin mining facilities, according to Malay Mail. The stores were situated in the cities of Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, Jalan Pahlawan, and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The report reveals that the offenders looted the power utility of over $59,000 a month.
Also involved in the project were the Electric Inspectorate or EIU of the Sarawak Ministry of Services.

It is estimated that the shophouses produced $191 in monthly electricity bills, which appears to suggest that the miners are also cheating local energy meters for a legitimate transaction.

Figures from the EIU indicate that since 2018 there have been 50 inquiries into crypto-related electricity theft incidents.

The Kyrgyzstan law enforcement agencies have recently found illegal crypto-currency mining farm on FEZ territory.

While they have been illegal since 2018, the Republic of Abkhazia also experiences an increase in crypto mining operations. In the last six months, Customs has registered mining hardware worth more than $589,000 crossing the border.

Something I don’t understand. The address 167ZWTT8n6s4ya8cGjqNNQjDwDGY31vmHg where his 8,999 coins ended up has continued accumulate bitcoins. The last transaction of 0.00014659 BTC is dated 2020-04-22 02:22. Someone hacked it or just a dust attack? Likely, the second though too much for the dust.
I've been hearing about this dust attack. I wonder if it is possible to recover any lost bitcoin just like the one op mentioned. A lot of people have lost bitcoin especially during the early period. I remembered I use to download blockchain desktop wallet then without understanding how to use it because the owe thing look like a misery to me.
488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can I use unconfirmed funds? on: August 13, 2020, 03:10:55 PM
If you are talking of sending some or whole part of the money you intend receiving from B then It it impossible. The transaction need to be confirmed and show in your wallet before sending back. Sometime unconfirmed transaction might be stall when the gas fee is not enough so it is very important for a transaction to be confirmed before you send money
489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A site for projects related to crypto. on: August 13, 2020, 08:06:37 AM
It is good but you need to make sure you avoid listing any project that might potentially be a scam. This is one of the barrier and it is very important because as soon as you list any scam project, many of your readers will not trust your site again. Also, you need money to  have a fully optimized website and top-notch SEO that makes you content rate very high and solid social media community
490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a Fake Bitcoin? on: August 13, 2020, 08:00:39 AM
Just the way you can recognize fake money based on texture, color, absence of hidden information when place on mercury light so also you can know bitcoin by the symbol, the type of address (that is the key format). However, why it might be difficult to discover a fake fiat is generally easy to know maybe a coin is BTC or not just by simply search for the address on the bitcoin blockchain. This is the same applies to other cryptocurrencies. Each of them have particular features that make it easy to know them.
491  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrencies integrating them more strongly with the economy on: August 11, 2020, 08:55:11 PM
Crypto debit card work with centralized system. All your keys are being controlled by them meaning they take the blame if anything happens. This is not only applies to crypto debit card alone. It also happen with the card issuing by traditional banks. Much more reason why getting a license with card company like MasterCard is a rigorous process because they want to make sure users data are protected and there is adequate provision in case of fraud
492  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Investing In Crypto Genuine Better Than Trading Forex on: August 11, 2020, 03:59:36 PM
Depending on ho better you could study the market. They both involve risk but your understanding of how to trade also reduces the risk. Sometimes forex commodities can even go as bad as reading negative but I have not seen that in crypto. Your perseverance and patience will greatly determine how far you will go in trading crypto. In a few minutes, you can make a huge profit or lose huge amount in crypto
493  Economy / Economics / Re: Anyone here Studying Econ ? on: August 11, 2020, 02:06:31 PM
In 2017, when I was studying for my Masters in Chemical Engineering, I was surprised when my co-supervisor asked me about bitcoin because as at that time almost everyone in my department had about bitcoin which was trending then. I was asked to make a mini-presentation about what it is. I was intrigued to know they are interested to learn. I explained to them and thanks, they were all ground in engineering economics so they quickly understand me. I explained to them the blockchain technology, Bitcoin, and altcoin. They are much interested in the blockchain technology and I was so surprised when one of them think they can use the technology as part of the development of student academic database.
494  Economy / Economics / Re: the billion dollars question on: August 11, 2020, 01:31:47 PM
I also don't think that IT is dead. If it's dead, there's no more internet matter of things and websites. Because if it's dead, we won't be seeing YouTube, social media, and other popular websites that we used in our daily lives. No online deliveries or whatsoever.

Those sectors that you have mentioned have been frozen due to the effect of the pandemic but it doesn't mean they're all dead. There is a vaccine race and if ever we'll get one for real, most business sectors will come back and alive again.
The word IT is broad and I think the Op has narrowed it down to his own niche which might be currently stagnant due to the current pandemic. It is becoming more like survival of the fittest. The little money people earn now are to buy food and drugs and those IT sectors you have mentioned (youtube and other social media) are the resting place for people now, particularly during the lockdown and I won't be surprised if some social media platforms make more revenue this year than the previous year
495  Economy / Economics / Re: Btc and gold can now be called "safe" on: August 10, 2020, 06:03:03 PM
Bitcoin is good but I do not think it is ok to call it safe haven even though the price has been consistently increasing for weeks now but there is not a concrete reason for this and if we learn from the past, no matter how high it can go, the price can fall deeply within few minutes which makes me wonder if such can be called a safe haven for investment. I know little about bitcoin and I cannot say how sustainable it is to invest or call it a safe haven
496  Economy / Economics / Re: Since jobs are unlikely to return, Do u think there will be a 3rd $1200 stimulus on: August 10, 2020, 03:55:11 PM
Jobs are already returning according to a report by the USA https://www.ontownmedia.com/coronavirus_pandemic/national-unemployment-rate-falls-for-third-straight-month-as-economy-adds-1-8-million-jobs/article_5babbc81-3fda-5438-930f-1e67ee470495.html there has been a continuous decline in unemployment rate meaning that if this continues and there are good news regarding covid19 vaccines particularly those that are in the third phase of the trial, they may not be any stimulus package
497  Economy / Economics / Re: Are people losing faith from centralized organizations? on: August 10, 2020, 03:50:59 PM
I do not think they are losing faith in bank but rather due to the current economic crisis. People have lost jobs while some are receiving half salary so generally, people will make more withdrawal than depositing money that has not been earning during the crisis. You talk about people queuing to withdraw their money. I think that is also expected and also people want to have free access to their money at any time they want it and that is reason why many prefer to hold their money and not bank it
498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Twitter/Youtube Bitcoin Scams on: August 10, 2020, 12:45:42 PM
The only thing we can do is to keep reporting them anytime you come across them. The reason why the scam keep increasing is because those and other hacker see that they are still earning from the project. YouTube specifically need to review the way they accept ads because I think they have the worst ads management process. In case anyone know a better way to quickly detect this scam you can also suggest for those social platforms
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Stable coin is the Best for Investment This Year on: August 10, 2020, 09:28:26 AM
Stablecoin is just like fiat. You can use them to minimize loss due to market volatility because their prices are relatively not affected that is they have fixed price. Since they do not appreciate considerably I'm wondering how you intend to invest with them except you are considering trade that include pairing them with bitcoin and other crypto. USDT is the most used stablecoin and I will suggest them in this regard
500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do some people stop their crypto project? on: August 09, 2020, 08:39:24 PM
Most of the set objectives that is too bogus. They want to achieve something that will take years to achieve in just few months with the hope of getting money in form of contribution from the people but when they face the real work, they will realize that they have long way to go which might means they will need more funds. It become very difficult to tell the community because they wanna keep the vibe. At the long run, the project become inactive
