481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GAP] Gapcoin - Prime Gap Search - New Math Algo - CPU only - Zero Premine on: October 30, 2014, 07:42:03 PM
Cool, finally a scientific usefull coin not aiming for profit.

Thats the point. Finding prime gaps is a lot more useful than primecoin's results for example.

Indeed. Everyone set their miners running and lets find some new prime gaps. Difficulty up towards 35+ should start to churn up some new records.

Easy instruction above.  Grin

If i understood correctly we should start seeing records from diff 27 ! After 35.5 every block will be a record Smiley

All these magnet motors seem to be built on the principle of two magnets pushing apart. Problem is, in order for two magnets to push apart, they first have to be brought close enough together to start pushing. This means being brought together against the resistance that is already pushing them apart. That uses up more energy than the final push. Even the Yildiz motor relies on batteries to overcome that resistance, and will stop working once the batteries run out.

The undeniable proof that all these motors are fake is that ALL of them have to be started for the demonstration. Why not just start them once when you are done building them, and just leave them running forever?

So the Yildiz motor runs on batteries? And the people from Delft university are idiots?

Can you show me a link from Delft university where it says that indeed a gathering about it happened there and that  anyone associated with Delft university was there?

I suppose you cant cause it is just a stupid video. But if you find something then yes people from Delft university are idiots.

I am waiting.

P.S. Universities often hire out rooms. Who knows who turns up. But still Delft gets lower in my eyes if they let obvious scammers in there.

In Gapcoin,
- what happens to the reward when difficulty gets down?
- why is it easier to create a pool in Gapcoin than in Primecoin?

I've read http://www.gapcoin.org/, but did not get my answers

Thanks

This is from peercoin/primecoin forum.

So j0nn9 what are the answers? I know that reward also gets down but what about the second question?

484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What good altcoins are there to CPU mine right now? on: October 29, 2014, 11:01:51 PM
Gapcoin came out 1 week ago. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=822498.0

Kinda easy to solo mine a few blocks per day.

It searches for prime gaps so its a new algo. Only CPU right now. A gpu miner will probably pop out in some weeks...
485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GAP] Gapcoin - Prime Gap Search - New Math Algo - CPU only - Zero Premine on: October 29, 2014, 10:52:05 PM

I sent him already although he didnt respond Wink

I also just made a topic on peercoin/primecoin altcoin section since its kinda relative.

Finally i will probably make a topic on Greek subforum tomorrow. I would propose you do the same Wink

I wanna be part of some record breakings !

We have a fix for some of the stales please update your miners.

https://github.com/noncepool/GapMiner/commit/13195f7bc7c3c8c1c892ca4f00172d95e544ce38

How important is it to upgrade? I still have the old one running with just a few percent stales.

Anyway, great work everyone! Love this coin.

If you like stale shares continue mining with the previous one.

The magnetic generators are real and will soon flood the market and this will mean the end of capitalism.

Nope. They have already flooded the internet attracting uneducated people.

Great news Smiley

BTW is the miner more efficient or it is the same?
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Digital Ocean Solo Mining Guide for Gapcoin !CPU only New math Algo! on: October 28, 2014, 11:25:06 PM
Great guide - got my 5 cloud servers setup using vultr.com.  I love that they accept btc and I don't have to give up my credit card info.

Sending 10 GAP tip your way!

I received! Thank you very much! Cheesy

how do I add a pool? for future ref

thanks guys

What do you mean add a pool?

connect to a pool I guess... When one will be up

can we only solo mine?

I cant know what the pool will require. However this would probably work:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install git make build-essential g++ libgmp-dev libmpfr-dev libjansson-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev && git clone https://github.com/gapcoin/GapMiner.git && cd GapMiner && git submodule init && git submodule update && sudo make all && sudo make install && cd bin && screen -S gapminer ./gapminer -o poolipaddress -p poolport -u youraddress -x password -t numberofthreads

It downloads from git and compiles gapminer and then runs it with the options you need for mining...
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / propositions on: October 26, 2014, 03:23:38 PM
j0nn9 i would propose that you write on the title of the OP something like that 'New Math Algo - CPU only'

also 'decentralized' is pretty much obvious since it is a bitcoin based cryptocoin...

My title would probably be: [ANN][GAP] Gapcoin-Searching for Prime Gaps-New Math Algo-CPU only-Zero Premine

Many people are searching for CPU coins and are interested in new algos but the title wont probably attract them.

Also is there thinking about decreasing time required for block reward halving? Since rewards are actually getting raised a bit with diff and since today is not 2009 anymore i would argue that 2 years for halving is rather much. I would propose a quite fast halving time of 6 months or even more aggressive like 3 months. My thinking is that this way it would trigger more speculating and faster. And even if it is too steep and probably create bubble situations it would also probably generate enough pressure so that we can have  nice hashrate peaks rather early and try to break some records. 2 years halving time seems a bit rather stagnating especially in a crypto world that everythig changes every half a year.

I would like to see some chat on that matter. Especially now that the coin is 5 days old and noone is going to have the upper hand.

This coin will never reach 1 year. Especially if 10% is going to 'devs'. Oh and its actually 11% since pool also gets fee and its theirs...

So 'devs' what are you going to do with your support? Are you going to support the progress of the coin or just hope to dump at whatever price before anyone else and earn a few BTC?

Did you make anything knew except copy paste a coin? Why do you need 11% ?

Did you make any bounties ?

Did you make any giveaways?

Also where is your proof that you are indeed giving that 1% to cryptonote team?

Any viewkeys so we can see that you are not going to dump the day it is going to hit an exchange?
495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GAP] Gapcoin - The largest, decentralized prime gap search on: October 25, 2014, 05:48:54 PM
Anyone working on getting Gapcoin on a real exchange? (Bittrex would be nice)

Anynews on Pool?

please if you get GPU working be nice and share don't mine on your own for 10days... (probably too much to ask)

Found 2 blocks in 16hrs Smiley

55000 ppd

It is quite soon for a better exchange. Lets see if a pool pops in a few days or maybe weeks. Meanwhile we have to bring more people with CPUs to mine...I wanna see diff going higher first.

I believe that GPU wont come so fast. But not sure.

It's a nice experiment but unless this coin is used for something it will die...

It's already difficult to mine, people won't join unless it hit a good exchange or you can do something with it.

I think the dev team should work on the usefulness of the coin then exchanges will follow.

Its quite easy to mine actually. What do you expect? To mine with a laptop and get 20 dollars per day?

And yes it is an experiment. I like that it will possibly make some records and this will probably bring more people interested in computer science/mathematics etc to bitcoin.

what is the best config price per primepersec wise?

1CPU
2CPU
4CPU
8CPU
16CPU

thanks

I would argue the most cost effective is 2CPU and many of them.

You can make more droplets than 5 if you send them some personal informations. But if you tell them you want to use the droplets for mining the will probably refuse to let you have more than 5 droplets. At least that was the case like 6 months ago...
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GAP] Gapcoin - The largest, decentralized prime gap search on: October 24, 2014, 08:32:45 PM

I ran three CPU overall speed 43000 ppp how much time should elapse chtoy coins appeared in the purse? thanks for the help

profitability calculator:
http://coinia.net/gapcoin/calc.php

According to this you should get 6 blocks per day or 121.51 gapcoins per day. But right now difficulty dropped. If it gets at the same level as yesterday's peak expect 35% less.

Please help how to configure maynig. Thank you

Give more info. On what system? What you want to do...

Windows 7

1.Download purse
2 downloaded miner
3 did conf
echo 'server = 1
gen = 1
rpcallowip = 127.0.0.1
addnode = 212.227.143.155
addnode = 104.131.69.82
addnode = 95.215.44.9
addnode = 155.254.36.179
addnode = 199.127.226.192
rpcuser = gapcoinMiner
rpcpassword = pass

my miner says I can not connect to the server  Sad

Since miner is as efficient as the the Core miner you dont need to run the miner. And since you have gen=1 at your conf you should already mining.

Go at your wallet, at Help then at Debug window and then at Console   and write:   getmininginfo

"generate" should be true and "primespersec" is your hashrate...
