481  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid trading crypto in real person. You can see this now on Binance. on: November 15, 2023, 09:21:16 PM
I do not see anything wrong with trading crypto in person.  I get why people worry about getting robbed or something, but you can get robbed pretty much anywhere if someone really wants to and  just because someone had one bad experience meeting up to trade bitcoin does not automatically make it super dangerous and risky every time.  Its kinda like driving cars - yeah, wrecks happen sometimes, but we dont all stop driving.  We try to make it safer with seatbelts or airbags or whatever and teach people good habits on the road.  I would say it is the same with trading crypto in person.  It is not about avoiding it completely, but being smart, taking precautions, and making sure were doing it responsibly.  There is always gonna be some risk but if you go in with your eyes open and dont do anything dumb, face-to-face can still be a solid way to trade.
482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some rich person not interest about bitcoin for following reason on: November 15, 2023, 08:57:17 PM
Looking forward to the well thought out opinion of the experienced in this regard.

Okay, I do not think your buddy is looking at this the right way.  The crypto market is friggin' enormous and  even if some big players like CZ or Saylor or whoever have a decent chunk of Bitcoin, thats still just a drop in the ocean compared to how much Bitcoin is out there.  I mean do the math.  These guys cannot control the whole market.

Sure, if one of them makes a big move, it will cause some ripples and people will react.  But sinking the whole ship? No way.  Thats just not realistic.  Bitcoin has gotten so big that no single person or group can have that much influence anymore.  Theres too much momentum behind it at this point. So in my opinion, it is silly to freak out about a few whales moving the price up and down.  Thats just short-term noise.
483  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What is the smallest amount of BTC I can transfer to my electrum wallet on: November 15, 2023, 08:40:59 PM
Actually it is not ViaBTC impeding me to withdraw, but Electrum. When I enter the amount, it tells me that it is too small.

Simple question - where are your bitcoins at this very moment? Still in your ViaBTC account, or did you already transfer them over to your Electrum wallet? Im guessing you are trying to withdraw your coins from ViaBTC into Electrum, right? If so, just know that Electrum has nothing to do with setting restrictions on withdrawals from ViaBTC.  The only way Electrum can get in your way is if you try sending an amount from Electrum thats less than the recommended transaction fee, which is not the case here.  But other than that your Electrum wallet wont interfere with a ViaBTC withdrawal at all.
484  Other / Off-topic / Re: Political Data Project on: November 15, 2023, 08:20:49 PM
I am currently independent working from Ontario, Canada and I am looking for bright minds to work on the management, tech and media sides of this project. Hopefully someone who doesn't need a full paycheck up front but is content with a piece of the back end because they believe in the project. BTW the back end will be enormously profitable. In the billions not millions as you will soon see.

If interested I will answer basic questions here but I will only get into detail on a Signal call or in person.

Well, fuck you! Wink That was a bold pitch, but I have found through experience that having solid financing is key for any project to succeed.  I admire your excitement, though in the past, trying to scrape by on limited resources has led me down some rough roads.  Before we assume those billions for the back end will materialize what is the strategy to make sure the funding actually comes through? I do not know what kind of staff you are looking for, but I can guarantee you that you will only get "scraps" if you cannot secure proper financing.

Thanks for the sources, I really wasn't aware of that... What would you say is the most trust able amongst the hundreds and hundreds of exchanges I've never heard of? I am aware that poloniex already exist a long time, huobi as well - don't know about the rest. Kucoin and gate.io maybe? Cheers!

Honestly, I cannot say I would fully vouch for any centralized exchange as completely trustworthy these days.  Just look at FTX case - a year or so ago it seemed rock solid, now its gone bust.  Of the ones you mentioned, they have been around a decent while which is a good sign.  You probably wont have issues there, but even so best not to take too many risks no matter where you trade.  Best to keep the coins in your private wallet until the moment you want to sell them.
486  Other / Meta / Re: Is this quality of life idea? on: November 13, 2023, 08:22:50 PM
To be honest, Im not really feeling this idea and do not see how it would be useful.  It would basically just be giving free promo to some random third party site like CMC or CG, which seems pointless unless there is some kind of mutual benefit for the BitcoinTalk peeps.  There is also the issue that if the service goes down for whatever reason, it would leave a ton of broken links all over the forum.
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bnb after next 5years on: November 13, 2023, 07:04:14 PM
I would like to short BNB. Can I do that anywhere (except Binance obviously, I'm betting on them going the "FTX" way)? eToro offers a CFD, but I'm afraid as soon as shit gets serious they pull out... Does anybody know of a better way? Thanks!

You can short BNB on any exchange that supports the coin. What is the problem? Are you having issues finding the right markets or something?

488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin adaption in Turkey on: November 12, 2023, 09:46:08 PM
A lot of places have had to deal with limitations on crypto, but people are still hopeful that one day Bitcoin will be more accepted everywhere.  For folks in countries where it is not embraced yet, Bitcoin can still give you some freedom. and  Governments might try to control it but they cannot ever fully do that since Bitcoin is decentralized.  So even if your country doesnt approve trading crypto through brokers or whatever, you will always be able to use private wallets and do peer-to-peer trading.
489  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need your contribution and opinion on: November 12, 2023, 08:57:05 PM
Currently people only talk about Bitcoin but the price is very high for me to afford investing in it.

I do not get why some folks think Bitcoin is too pricey to buy into right now.  But let us think this through - what happens if the price goes back to 69k? Or 100k? Or more? Seems like waiting for the right price could backfire big time.

The cool thing with bitcoin (and crypto in general) is that you can invest however much or little as you want.  Whether we are talking about a single dollar or a million bucks.  Either way, you will get some amount of Bitcoin for your buy. Say you have got 370 bucks ready to deploy right this second.  The question becomes: is it better to get 0.01 BTC or 660 XRP? Id go with the 0.01 Bitcoin, personally.

I don't know why I feel like it's the only cryptocurrency worth investing and I would love to try  but am still learning gradually about it.

Look, taking it slow and learning the basics first is smart.  Crypto world is nuts these days and  rushing in might not end well.  Better to go step-by-step so when its time to jump in you will be ready to rock.  More fulfilling that way.
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Short BNB on: November 12, 2023, 08:08:19 PM
I would like to short BNB. Can I do that anywhere?

You can do that on almost any crypto exchange, I do not see what the problem is. Are you looking for something special? No KYC perhaps?

eToro offers a CFD, but I'm afraid as soon as shit gets serious they pull out... Does anybody know of a better way? Thanks!

eToro is not a true crypto exchange, if I am not mistaken.
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin OGs, Can We Please Practice What we Preach? on: November 12, 2023, 08:02:41 PM
Yeah, seeing that video was definitely disturbing! It is crazy how we can start feeling invincible in crypto until someone we think is an expert gets hacked.  Goes to show that we all gotta stay vigilant no matter how long we have been in the game.  Probably good for me to brush up on keeping my holdings secure.  Cant get lazy...  The world is full of bandits ready to snatch your goods!

Thanks for the nudge, OP, to make sure my wallet is locked up tight.  Better paranoid than sorry when it comes to protecting my investment.
492  Economy / Reputation / Re: How easy do you think it is to invest in trust feedback in order to swindle? on: November 11, 2023, 08:18:35 PM
I don't know if you share my reading of this, and if you can think of any way to prevent it.

I do not know if there is a way to prevent this completely. I just do not think its possible.  But we can fight back by getting the word out about these scams and their shady tactics.  The best defense might be awareness - the more folks know what to watch for, the less these jerks can take advantage and  its like community immunity - safety in numbers.   I believe its a collective effort to keep the space safe. Plus if we make it a thing to always double-check everything, and fostering a culture of due diligence, instead of just trusting blindly, that helps too.  So maybe be skeptical of anything new or anything that seems too good to be true.

What do you think could be done to make these scammers' lives a bit harder?
493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Luck and skill, which is more important gambling success? on: November 11, 2023, 07:20:31 PM
I have the believe that success in gambling requires a mixture of luck and skill. This is opposed to some people that believe that gambling is entirely a game of luck and others who believe it is entirely a game of skill.

When it comes to casino games of chance, its all about luck - like 99% and maybe only 1% skill. But the skill is only about your bank management and knowing when to stop.

But Im really interested in who believes that is entirely a game of skill? Either he has never gambled in his life or he is a total idiot.  Grin
494  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you avoid scammers? on: November 11, 2023, 07:11:50 PM
I am new to Bitcointalk ~

Hey there, DPHOR ! Welcome to the BitcoinTalk forum.

I get why you are worried about scams and phishing.  That stuff can get pretty tricky.  My advice? Be super careful with any links people send you.  Double and triple check those URLs so you know where you are really going and  stick to the well-known and reputable exchanges and wallets, those are usually safest.  Oh, and watch out for random messages from people you dont know.  Make sure to check any info yourself before trusting it.  The folks here probably have some other good tips too.  Never be shy about asking around if you are unsure about something.  Thats one of the best things about this community - we have so much collective knowledge to draw from.

I think security should be my number one priority as a fresher or newbies
~

Absolutely! Security should definitely be a big concern when you are just starting out.  You gotta keep your stuff and personal info safe, thats crucial.  A few things I would recommend are using wallets that are open source and have good reviews, turning on two-factor authentication wherever you can and being real suspicious of any messages that seem sketchy or too good to be true.  Getting into crypto is exciting, no doubt, but staying safe will make the ride smoother.  i know it's a lot to take in when you're just starting out.  So if you ever need any tips on staying secure or have questions, dont be afraid to ask! We are always happy to help folks just getting into crypto do it the safe way.
495  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Enjoy being a newbie on: November 11, 2023, 05:56:32 PM
I get it, diving into a forum like Bitcointalk for the first time can feel kinda overwhelming.  When you are just starting out, its all new territory.  But I agree, you gotta embrace the newbie status! Its no shame in asking the basic questions, we have all been there at some point.  Forget tryin' to sound smart by copying long posts - keep it real and ask what you really wanna know and  the learning journey goes smoother when you speak your mind.  We have all been at the start before so there is no judgment here.  Just open yourself up to learning and enjoy the ride.

Heres to all you newbies out there - You got this!
496  Economy / Economics / Re: Being rich = not looking at price tag on: November 10, 2023, 10:05:51 PM
Overall I tend to weigh price and quality as the most important factors when deciding what to buy.  I wont buy something just because it is cheap if it seems like its junky or I dont need it.  But I also dont want to spend a crazy amount on something that is not worth it. Occasionally other stuff like certain features or my specific needs at the moment also play into my decision.  Like if something is really well-made and will last a long time, I might be willing to pay more than usual. But finding the balance between cost and quality is usually what seals the deal for me.

For example, when it comes to technology, I weigh features against the cost. A higher-priced gadget with advanced functionalities might be justified if it aligns with my specific needs and offers a significant upgrade in performance. But it's not just about big brands or ridiculous price tags.
497  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to cash out the money from electrum on: November 10, 2023, 09:37:12 PM
Bisq is more suitable to use in this case and not through any social media platforms FB or X as there has turned to a breeding ground for scammers to prey on unfamiliarity and inexperiences of crypto newbies.

Since the trading will be done in cash, it is easy to identify the fraudster, especially since the trading will be in a public place and the trader’s face can be seen before starting to trade or agreeing on a specific formula, and the probability of fraud is much less than with digital services or bank transfers.

I agree..  OP mentioned in other posts that he is living somewhere where crypto trading is prohibited.  Makes sense to do a peer-to-peer trades and deal in cash.  Given how his countrys laws look at crypto, P2P seem smarter if he wants to stay under the radar.
498  Local / Topik Lainnya / Re: Motivasi Pemula @Bitcointalk[Sering Dianggap "Spam Atau Konten AI"] on: November 10, 2023, 08:41:45 PM
ane ga paham kenapa situ make warna-warna gitu, jujur itu ga enak dilihat dan dibaca gan
Biasa gan trik lama.

It seems that you did not understand. He was just pointing out that using different colored fonts can come across as disrespectful to others here.  Try to picture what this place would look like if we all started writing in rainbow text and stuff.  It would be a hot mess!

There are basic rules we all follow on forums like this to keep things orderly.  So maybe think about how your writing makes things look to other people here. Im sure you did not mean anything bad by it but it helps to be mindful.  No hard feelings, just something to consider going forward.

P.S. I apologize for the English language. I was just browsing your post history when I came across this so I thought it would be good to explain.
499  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Motivation for Beginners, @Bitcointalk.org Users on: November 10, 2023, 08:06:30 PM
Yes, of course you need to see his contribution to the forum and what he does so that the increase is very fast, what things he did so that it would increase, it would be odd if in the first week he was in the forum but like someone who already knew forum.
I am what I am, as long as I know the information is a span, yes I will say a span, when I know it is a meter I will definitely tell you a meter too.

Hey man, I think you should chill out some.  Folks here have given you solid advice and  if you really wanna be part of this community and contribute in a positive way, you gotta at least consider what they are saying.  Do not just dismiss it or get defensive right off the bat.  It is not good to be stuck in stubborn attitudes and refuse to accept that you can improve.

So, I'm measuring my abilities, bro.

"If you can not measure it, you can not improve it."

I get that hearing criticism is hard.  But try looking at it as people trying to help you grow.  Take a step back and reflect on what theyre saying before reacting.  Being open to change takes guts but it is worth it.  A little humility and willingness to admit faults can go a long way.

Can you explain what I mean? Shocked

Can you?

May the goodness of it become a deed, and may you be blessed by the Almighty.
And may you and your family always be granted health and happiness.
Aameen...

Wtf does this mean? You should learn to recognize that not everyone holds the same religious perspective as you, and not everyone shares faith in your concept of an almighty god.
