...
Yes, I think about it too. A simple solution to make a status.  This will be a very useful function. Forum will get rid of using banned accounts and everyone will see banned accounts.

Or such a status option Jr. Member
I would go for this one as well...
It clearly shows that the user is permabanned and you can check what was his/her rank before he/she got banned.
Maybe you can make it red to be a bit more eye-catching, but this striked text is also good enough for me
482  Other / Meta / Re: Is this a copy/paster? on: August 04, 2018, 08:56:44 PM
If we report these posts, will they be deleted and the user eventually banned? I reported a user the other day that spun an article and posted it here as his own, but I have yet to see any action against the user or the post.
...
If you reported it with the report to moderator button and you have at least 300 good reports, you can check your report if it has been checked by a moderator or not. If it's unhandled, but the other reports you made after are already processed, you can see that moderators are thinking / checking for things about that post.
If you just made a post in the copypaste topic, maybe mods need more time to deal with it.
483  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: ASICVAULT: The Most Secure Cryptocurrency Hardware Wallet on: August 03, 2018, 08:36:25 PM
...
Got some feedback from Estonia and Latvia on Asicvault. There has been at least five similar scams generated by Asicvault's CEO Hando Eilsen. Tens of his partners and investors have lost money investing in his "100 times better" or even "1000 times better" schemes: search engines, internet casinos etc, and the wallet here (hopefully some relevant court cases will be available for me soon).

But the worst thing is that Asicvault proceeds with selling non-existent product and tricking people into buying it. Judging by the previous schemes I guess the point here for Asicvault is to get money from new investors. That's why they still try to suppress any negative statement in social media and show the bogus as a real product. Maybe the Asicvault team believes it can pull through with the new money and finally release the product - but in fact they are just packing the pockets of a notorious scammer.
what a shame...   But if fact i see no confirmations of his scam activily in the internet.  If it was, there would be stories about him, won't they?
People are starting to be more cautious as time goes by... I myself won't order anything that has not been manufactured already and if there's no feedback from real people...
There will be always people who care only the marketing bullshit and the nice (and fake) pictures about the item scammers wants to sell, and these kind of people will always fall for the scammers... But I hope as the time goes by, and people will gather experience in the crypto world, less and less people will fall for these kind of scams...
But you know, you can try to protect the people from scammers but you just can't protect people from themselves....
484  Other / Meta / Re: Is this a copy/paster? on: August 03, 2018, 08:27:27 PM
You can check this topic too:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3962537.0
It seems that it's not enough now to change a few words in a sentence for the spammers, they need to replace (mostly) all of the words with synonyms, in order to escape the report in the copypaster topic....
We would really need a kind of AI to check the spammy posts in the forum, but I hope that the reporting badge will also help...
485  Other / Meta / Re: A proposed mechanism for detecting fraud scam bounty campaigns on: August 03, 2018, 08:02:55 PM
...
I am asking old members who have advanced ranks
To vote for campaigns and give its confidence + or -
This vote is published to benefit everyone before engaging in any campaign

This would cause some demand from the scammers to buy old accounts with good rank to give + for the scammy ICO to make it looks real and trustable...
Or, they already have those accounts, because they have ranked them up before the merit system...
If something is abusable, scammers will try to abuse it, for sure...
486  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Running bitcoin node with LN hub on a Raspberry Pi 3 on: August 03, 2018, 07:45:02 PM
Just managed to spend a little time with the Raspberry PI LN hub project again, it's not easy to deal with things like this, if you have no freetime Smiley
First thing is to update the lnd itself, there's a new version out there, so I need to update it, preferably via git, hope it will be an easy go... I'll be back...

Did you consider running RaspiBlitz? The whole setup process is fairly easy and it shouldn't take you too much time. Check out the readme file for detailed documentation. It is worth mentioning that this project supports LCD displays so that you can easily view the most important information any time you want.

Take a look at some questions regarding running a Lightning Network node here.
Thanks for the info, I've just checked it. It's nice and user friendly, so I'll give it a try if my project won't succeed...
The only (but very important) difference for me that it uses a full blockchain on an external HDD instead of the "light" version (neutrino node), which don't require a full blockchain available locally (uses a trusted node for the blockchain data), which could be really handy if you already have a full node locally and you want to play only with LN on your Raspberry PI.
So I'll give it a try as soon as I give up this neutrino thing Smiley

There probably should be two report buttons or two queues or something. One for urgent things and the other one for sig spam or whatever. Maybe there could be dedicated mods/patrollers that handle the sig spam etc. There's thousands of spammers and bots making thousands of posts so it's never-ending.
Or, if the system lists the reported post sorted by the date of creation... So useless old reported post will stay on the end of the list, and they won't become a good report soon. This will make the report spammers search for fresh spam post...
(Or, to create spam post with alt account, and report them immediately, so they will stay on the top... but I doubt that they will create spam posts just for the report badge Smiley )
489  Other / Meta / Re: Reporting post more than once is possible. on: July 30, 2018, 09:21:45 PM
If the report to mod link will become unclickable after a report, the abusers will offer "reporting posts with bad reports" service, to report spam with some throwaway accounts, for the reason to let the spam post / ANN advertisement become unreportable for a given time...
490  Other / Meta / Re: Curious boy who want to know about merits on: July 30, 2018, 09:11:42 PM
I'm just wondering sometimes, if Theymos will be fed up with bounty spam and will switch off signatures for a while (e.g. a year) how long would it take for these kind of guys to realize the situation... (and to accept it....)
The merit system was implemented more than a half year ago, and some people are still expecting that the merit system will be shut down and they can spam the hell out of this forum again... I'm sure that most of the farmers haven't left their farmed accounts behind because they are waiting for something to happen that will change everything back like it was before...

@Silent26:
Nice job!
Only one thing: we should have this "badge place" switchable in the profile, if someone don't want to wear them, let's have it switched off for those
492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: England Central Bank cryptocurrency on: July 30, 2018, 08:42:15 PM
if this would happen that the English country adopting the crypto would obviously be able to boost the price of the bitcoin which is now again a price reduction hopefully soon will happen in the near future.
There's no connection between national crypto adoption and bitcoin price. If people will be forced (OK, motivated) to use the national crypto instead of the banknotes, they won't know that it's a blockchain based system or not... They will only know that it works with smartphones and it's quick. They won't care also... So they won't know much more about cryptos if a national digital money will pop up, so they won't use/know/trust bitcoin more than before...
493  Other / Meta / Re: Seeking reporter badge images on: July 27, 2018, 06:23:09 PM
...

that is actually pretty good idea, it can be something like this:

300 good reports
1000 good reports
5000 good reports
I would also go for this Smiley
But the color of the ghosts should be somehow more dramatic, dark red or something similar Smiley
And also the badge should be off for default and have to tick the box manually to show.
494  Other / Meta / Re: Seeking reporter badge images on: July 27, 2018, 01:48:55 PM
Maybe I'm late, but what about these?
The mushroom cloud looks like a tree, really, but I also like the nuke theme, so I'm thinking about colourful nuclear warnings, like:

Found them here:

495  Other / Meta / Re: Post Boosting on: July 26, 2018, 09:30:51 PM

Check the other post. He's blatantly using his own alts to bump his own threads (and farm them in the process most likely) so I think it's likely he'll use them as part of his other service too. One of them is banned also. I'm sure there's many more.
Is it possible to check the IP's, browser details, etc... to identify his alts? Or we cannot use these kind of data to protect the forum? I'm just curious if someone logs in with dozen of accounts from the same machine, the forum system is unable to match them (not for the first time, but after a while at least...)
496  Other / Meta / Re: Disable signatures/bounties til a user reaches full member status. on: July 26, 2018, 09:20:13 PM
The deterrent to the Jr. Member in bounty campaigns will greatly affect those who actually follow the rules.
If we restrict newbies and jr. members to wear signatures, the forum will lose a lot of traffic, which could downgrade it's rank e.g. in a google search, so there's no 100% good solution, unfortunately...
497  Other / Meta / Re: Feasibility "Merit" on Bitcointalk. on: July 23, 2018, 09:07:20 PM
....
Are you serious about this ?! Do you think that I'm a fool and expect to get "Merit" for bounty reports? I wrote many other posts in other branches, but to no avail. The only option is to create new and useful topics for which you also hardly get merit. Thank you all for attention and "support", I did not expect such a flow of shit in my direction.
Just be aware if you post too much bounty related stuff, people who usually give merit to newbies, jr. members would put you on ignore before they will be able to find your constructive posts. As soon as you got ignored, you can post brilliant and on topic posts in any section, you won't be visible (OK, not for all merit sources, becuase I think there are some who don't use the ignore funciton), but why to ruin your chances?
E.g.: JetCash has an impressive ignore list, those people won't get any merit from JetCash in the future, doesn't matter how hard they try... (OK, technically it's possible to get, because if someone quotes their quality post (and if that person is not ignored) their post will be visible to JetCash, but the chances are really small for this to happen...)
498  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk – Posts per Day - evolution during past six months on: July 23, 2018, 08:35:21 PM
I hope this means less and less spam as the months goes by...
Some data would be useful about the deleted posts (maybe someone from staff could create a similar table) that piece of information would let you to analize the causes of the post count decrese even better.
Some data would also be useful about the report statistics, to check if it's in line with the deleted post count.
Thanks for the stats and the tables!
499  Other / Meta / Re: Pop up ads really annoying on: July 23, 2018, 08:17:53 PM
And try to remember, which site / downloaded program  was the one that could install that malware/virus on your PC, in order to prevent this kind of attack in the future. It's always better not to fall for any AD that offers something for free (software, money, etc...) because if something looks too good to be true, it's usually not true...
500  Other / Meta / Re: Thanks for the info guy on: July 21, 2018, 08:15:38 PM
There are so many of these posters here, and the mods seem to be overworked ( which appears to lead to bad judgement decisions ). So far this morning I've found 10 members to ignore, and not one to merit. Is it time that we became more proactive, and created some public ignore lists to prevent these posting abusers from getting their posts displayed to the merit awarders.
Do you know if the members of your ignore list are banned/nuked already? Do you report them too, or just put them on ignore?
If you don't report them, is it possible to get a mod (dedicated to your ignore list) and start to nuke/ban those users? It would help a lot.
Also, if some public ignore list will exist (or more, other members could also share their ignore list), I would prefer a drop down list or radio button list to choose which public ignore list I would like to apply to me. I know that I can copy and paste it, but it would let lazy people (like myself Smiley ) use that function too, if it's one click instead of messing with copying and pasting...
