543  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do dark skinned people get tattoos? on: September 19, 2014, 04:55:41 PM
Same reason that most people get tattoos. 'Cause they feel unimportant, weak, guilty, insecure, etc., down deep. A tattoo is something that people can do to themselves to make a statement TO themselves that they are important, because now they don't have any choice but to stand out in public. It can be a very bold and courageous move on the part of some.

Smiley

Yeah, thats maybe the tattoos your friends do. There are plenty tattoos on different cultures with different meanings...
544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 18, 2014, 02:17:52 PM
10 % decline in a short term is too much when you consider it should be a store of value.
Monero needs more traders to absorb the dumps, but on the other hand, feed the buyers in pumps.

The dumps were absorbed good enough in my opinion. The problem is that right now we have someone (credible enough for me) who is telling that there is some kind of  major problem with the blockchain. But he hasnt give enough explanations. So there is great uncertainty right now and it will stay for a while unless we know more about that or we conclude it was bullshit...
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 18, 2014, 12:54:49 PM
I disagree.
Long lasting low price will make the bagholders leaving from the coin.
It is like inflation vs. deflation debate.
Inflation is good for the economy but deflation is good for a person who likes to save money.
If you have slight, but constant increase in the coin exchange rate, it will attract buyers and buyers feel save to buy the coin now instead waiting for tomorrow for lower rate.

I recall more marketmakers such as Aminorex who have financial ability to buy sometimes even those dumps and on the other hand, sell when there is a buyer in the market.
After this dump I really understand the value of marketmakers.

Also, bitcoin's major failure in terms of financials is its huge volatility. This volatility prevents the big money entering into bitcoin.
A billionaire doesn't trust in a currency which can be tomorrow anything - up 10 % or down 10 %. Money should store value both short and long term.
If I am a billionaire and I have negotiated a business deal, I would prefer to eliminate this type of uncertainity.

The good thing with an emission schedule is that you know it in advance. You decide to buy it or not, but you don't change it just like that. It's part of the social contract supporting the coin.
Changing such fundamental stuff on the way are good for other crappy alts. This is often (always) made out of greed rather than for building a functional economy. Monero is worth more than these arrangements.

If we grow organically, we won't have bagholders.

I agree

"they" are FUDing the "new" (from July) XMR (CN) exploit in the Polo trollbox.

I couldn't help myself and bought more at what looks like the panic bottom of 382

Buy support dropped by 50%?  Guess BCX still carries weight

There goes the speculation we knew until now... Tongue Hope the whole thing was a mistake. Then XMR would be even stronger.

Until then...

Eek.  I was about to say at least there has been no dump...

too soon Tongue

It does not appear to have the characteristics of a scam.

There does appear to be a subset of miners with an optimized mining platform.

~BCX~
Thanks for your response.

I saw the hashrate going about 20% up and then down again some days ago. So i thought that it was either a botnet or claymore who was building a new GPU miner and he was mining on VMs. Or both. I agree that something odd is there.
I also think that there is some sort of CPU miner giving like 10-15% more than the os one...

I understand what you mean and i just hope that more optimizations will come soon as more people are getting interested on it.

549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCX thinks he could attack Monero (ROFL), major wannabe on: September 17, 2014, 02:00:15 AM
I respect you and i have noticed that when you say you can attack a coin you probably can. You said some months ago that something you tried on XMR wasnt really that big problem. Is it something new?

But seriously cant you see he is an obvious shill created to play along like he likes XMR in order to irritate others like he does right now? People from monero already said that on his threads....

Anyway, i truly believe that monero is not a scam. I am watching it from day 2. It looks like a worthy try that may fall or not. Obviously it may have a shitone of bugs that we arent aware. But the try doesnt look like a scam to me. So i would really like, if you have time, to post why you think that monero is a scam. I will sincerely think of your advice and decide. Posting two words without explanation is a little bad. Dont you think?

550  Economy / Speculation / Re: Its dropping again! on: September 16, 2014, 03:08:54 AM
our associates are converting 40k btc to fiat the coming days, so its to be expected to drop a lot more before it recovers a little.

Very nice! Smiley

Two things:
1) You have probably already asked Zazzle about accepting monero but i would urge you to try a bit more or at least find someone who is willing to accept xmr and pay them in fiat. I would really like to see my XMR being used for buying these things!
2) Any (risky) timetable about blockchain and that awesome GUI? Or maybe we can wait until Friday's chat? Cheesy

I think this was more like a accident and they didn't know how to fix or what to do after that...like Darkcoin had...

Premining 82% by accident doesnt happen like every day, does it?
554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unveiling the truth over the major Monero scam on: September 15, 2014, 03:28:32 PM

Yeah, actually it says that Bytecoin is a sure scam and that monero community took over the development from the same scammers that created bitmonero. And that there are allegations that although monero seems good there isnt as big community as it is showing. Dunno number 4 volume for days or weeks and anyway in top ten volumes like from forever looks like enough people are interested. But you can keep up attacking monero in order to have your premined scamcoin have 5-10btc volume.

I really cant understand you guys. Why premine bytecoin when it was solid tech. how greedy can someone be?
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 14, 2014, 09:15:31 PM
$290 million to build and $200 million to launch a satellite. I'll put up a bounty of 10xmr for a dish to relay XMR transactions. It all depends on how far they want to take this.
Might need a couple for global coverage  Wink

I was always thinking about it for the far future of crypto Tongue Its even cheaper than that and prices are falling by the year...But thats a bit far for now Cheesy

Stay away from Greece if your business is serious. If however its quite shady or doesnt want to follow laws corruption will help a lot here.
