601  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: April 24, 2023, 11:26:01 AM
3. Very odd! We have seen this very infrequently coming from the lockscreen and are working on a fix, but you see it also coming just from multitasking in other apps?
Yes, I also experienced it while I was multitasking yesterday, but no matter how hard I tried to reproduce it today, it didn't recur [a bit strange] so it must be connected to the other rare issue that you mentioned...

  • If possible, could you record this happening and share details on your OS (as much as you're comfortable with) in an email to hello@foundationdevices.com? We'd love to help you get to the bottom of it, and your help would make it a faster process  Smiley
Sure... I'll do it as soon as it happens again, but until then, all I can share is the details of my OS [Android 13 (One UI 5.1)] Smiley

While I was using it with the "Testnet earlier", I noticed we can only copy the transaction ID, but not see the other details [I'm not sure if this is also part of the roadmap or not].
BTW, a customized fee option (apart from the Standard and Boost options) would be nice as well.
602  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: April 23, 2023, 03:21:44 PM
@foundationdvcs
Here are a few notes for using the beta version for a few minutes, as someone who doesn't own a Passport device [yet]:

  • It'd be nice to have a list of used/unused addresses in conjunction with the ability to sign a message directly from the app.
  • Support for other address types [e.g. Taproot would be nice].
  • I noticed going back and forth between Envoy and any other app would result in a black screen that sometimes lasts around 30 seconds!
603  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Update? on: April 23, 2023, 01:00:04 PM
Still using ledger live 2.5.1.
Ledger live is 2.55.
Any issues with the updated one?  Haven't updated it in months.  Anyone here use old not updated ledger live?
I'm not a LL user, but it's worth noting that the latest version is actually 2.57.0: LEDGER LIVE DOWNLOAD SIGNATURES
- You always have the option to downgrade from the above link, so just update your LL to the latest one!

604  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: SIM Registration: Anong Dapat Ipag-alala? on: April 23, 2023, 12:07:43 PM

Kasi di'ba, paano nalang yung mga magkkaaron palang nf bagong sim card at/o cellphone after April 26? Di'ba? LOL.
If I were to guess, I'd say magiging similar ito sa reactivation process...

605  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Show off your hardware wallet on: April 23, 2023, 10:54:02 AM
All I can remember is it came from Germany and is a USB stick of some sort, with a page of directions written in German. Another eBay find years back.
Perhaps there's a logo or something on the direction page that could help us trace it back to its origin...

Edit : damn, can’t find shit on crypto guard via google either.
I did manage to find an inactive crypto-related website with that name, but it used to sell one of those metal backup plates [I couldn't find an earlier archive version from the time you purchased it, but perhaps they were selling such things in the past]:

  • MyCryptoGuard.com [it's being redirected from CryptoGuard.me and they seemed to be from Switzerland and AFAIK, German is one of its official languages (does any of these websites ring any bells?)]

I have a “master list” thread here buried in collectibles sub, it was for all things collectibles and one of my lists on is hardware wallets.  I think my list was up to 40-50 links to different wallets.
Unfortunately, it doesn't mention anything about Crypto Guard: Collectibles/Wallets/NFTs/News- Master Website List
606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Create Taproot address for your Bitcoin on: April 23, 2023, 09:15:28 AM
Do you have any information when devs electrum will finally add Taproot support. ?
AFAIK, there's no roadmap on their "Github repo",  so I don't think anyone of us has that information, but they did mention "Taproot has to wait because they're focusing on the lightning & UX parts" and since most of their recent updates involve lightning, I don't think it's that far [hopefully].

I'm just surprised by this decision devs electrum?.
Same here and they seemed to be annoyed when users ask about it:

607  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ok247trade.com scammers on: April 22, 2023, 11:27:36 AM
ok247trade.com

Don't use them !
~Snipped~
It appears to be a rip-off of "ICMarkets [note: I prefer not to vouch]" and instead of taking multiple screenshots of various places on their website, you could've just used a web-capturing website: Archived version of Ok247Trade

Here are a few other similar fake websites:

- ActiveBitSignal
- MoodyFx
- GLPrimeTradeFXs
608  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: SIM Registration: Anong Dapat Ipag-alala? on: April 22, 2023, 09:50:58 AM
609  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA) discussions on: April 22, 2023, 07:02:12 AM
I don't get why some people are praising it for being the first crypto rule book, like it's a good thing that they're putting a leash on its users.
If I were to guess, I'd say it probably has something to do with the fact that there's no longer a lack of clarity.

I'm not sure how this is going to end up regarding their plans to make both parties go through KYC when transaction is over 1k EUR. The plan was for a registered institution, like an exchange, to have to know the owner of the address it's sending coins to, which was completely ridiculous.
They did clarify it by saying that transactions involving two normal individuals are exempted from the travel rule, but I'm still confused if funds "sent from the private wallet" of an exchange are also exempted or not Huh

Fortunately we have until 2025 for them to make up their minds.
I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but everything that I've read so far points to it becoming law by next year.
610  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Show off your hardware wallet on: April 21, 2023, 03:24:01 PM
I showed the BTC/LTC one to Charlie Lee and I believe he said he’d never seen it, so probably pretty rare.
Same here... It reminded me of the good old days when block erupters were still a thing... I had no luck finding anything about it, but it looks exactly the same as this "crystal USB flash drive". Does it also glow when it's connected?
611  Economy / Goods / Re: I create and sell 3D-printed WiFi devices that show Bitcoin prices and stats on: April 21, 2023, 01:25:44 PM
Each item is 3d-printed with a fully biodegradable vegetable-based plastic material.
The 3D-printed logos were a nice touch, but it'd be better if you also give your customers the option of purchasing the ticker alone [it helps with bringing the overall cost down and that could lead to more sales].

BTW, why there's a discontinued label for the previous version while it's still being sold on your website and Etsy?
612  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [LIST] Wallets supporting Taproot on: April 21, 2023, 11:25:58 AM
Thank you  SFR10 for your valuable advice!
You're very welcome Smiley

Blixt on this seed gives a completely different score bc1q....(segwit).
I've never tried them, but it appears that it's turned off by default so you need to "enable it from the settings".

Blue also does not accept Taproot and gives the same score bc1q ..
Yes, there's still no Taproot support on the BlueWallet.

Maybe it's just too early for the widespread adoption of Taproot on phones.  But with Segwit, the implementation also took a long time.
You have a point, but it's not limited to mobile wallets only.
613  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why not save yourself the trouble? on: April 21, 2023, 10:00:07 AM
asked me which one was the best, I told him that he could try the Ledger Nano X.
A hardware wallet that introduces more problems on top of the existing ones is not the best option: Ledger Nano X Battery Circus [don't forget to read "all" of the comments as well]

storing your cryptocurrency with hardware wallet, your private keys are stored offline away from threat of hacking or scam.
~Snipped~
I would love to hear you opinion on this guy's
You have a point, but it still wouldn't stop your friend from storing the seed phrases in a reckless manner [e.g. online or rather in a digital format]!

there's no such thing as free btc.
You can get a "tiny fraction" of Bitcoin on faucets, but it's not worth the trouble.

Please I don't really know how to console my friend.
I'm not sure how much he lost, but considering that he couldn't afford to buy a hardware wallet, then it wasn't probably that significant, so tell your friend he should consider himself lucky for getting the wake-up call quite early in the process of accumulating cryptocurrencies and he should now take this moment to improve his knowledge about the basics of keeping his cryptocurrencies safe!
614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Is android laptop device good for installations? on: April 20, 2023, 07:46:23 PM
I wanted to use it to installed most bitcoin softwares like bitcoin core or electrum,
But why [is it because of privacy or just for fun]? Electrum is more than enough for most users!

while trying to do the installations the system gets hot and shutdown unexpected. What do you think could be the problem? Because is a new system window 8.
I'm not sure what kind of limits are in place for the OS that you're currently using, as opposed to a native Windows 8, but if it allows you to monitor how your resources are being used in the task manager, then you can easily find the culprit.

With that kind of config, your best bet is to run a node in pruned mode [having said that, I prefer not to recommend it... It's not a full node and it has its own disadvantages (e.g. redownloading in a certain situation)!
615  Local / Pamilihan / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees at Withdrawal Amounts sa Crypto Casinos on: April 20, 2023, 03:34:17 PM

e.g. 0.001 BTC:
616  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [LIST] Wallets supporting Taproot on: April 20, 2023, 07:47:26 AM
And what I found as a result of my experiments: I tested Muun, OneKey, Nunchuk, Blixt ... and a few more Android wallets.
It turned out that indeed bc1p accounts ... can be opened.  But none of the wallets gives you the opportunity to find out the seed or private key of your BTC mainnet account.  Thus, you do not have full control of the taproot account opened with a mobile phone.
I just did a quick import test with the seed phrases of Nunchuck and I was able to successfully recover and see my Taproot address on the OneKey app [there's also an export private key option (Click on your account type > 3 dots > View details > Export private key)]!
- It's worth noting that seed phrases are shown prior to the creation of your wallet.
617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A service to find the relation between two addresses on: April 20, 2023, 06:42:37 AM
I am looking for a service that can help me map out the relationship between two addresses. Essentially, a tool that can inform me if there is any connection or correlation between the two addresses that I provide. Does anyone know of any services that offer this functionality or something similar?
Crystal has a visualization feature that's similar to what you're trying to build: Here's an imperfect example [none of the addresses are mine (I took them from one of the recently mined blocks)]
- It has nice features (e.g. moving the pieces around), but if you try to go too deep (e.g. adding many input/output addresses), their server will return an error!
618  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] bitcoindata.science on: April 19, 2023, 07:17:03 PM
Thank you for your suggestion SFR10

It is already working! I forked it from the code from (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3485877.0)
~Snipped~
Wow, I'm speechless [I should be the one thanking you for implementing my suggestion in the span of a few hours (you're a lifesaver)] Shocked
- May I know how short the intervals are? I stopped tracking it after it passed the 15-minute mark (I do know there are certain limits, so I'm not hoping for it to become very short).

I did notice a minor issue while I was refreshing the page like a maniac [e.g. the result that had the currency parameter temporarily showed blank, but after a few refreshes, it came back (the default one wasn't affected)].
619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Intel did it? on: April 19, 2023, 05:29:18 PM
That may be correct decision when Intel don't have much experience building SHA-256 ASIC. Their ASIC efficiency is up to 26 J/TH[1] while Bitmain and Canaan manage to build ASIC with 21-25 J/TH[2].
You have a point, but I'm still going to stick to "what I said last year"... I don't think their objective was to compete with the likes of Bitmain and Canaan, but instead, to help others fill the gaps in the market.
620  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] bitcoindata.science on: April 19, 2023, 03:07:08 PM
@bitmover
I was wondering if there's a possibility of adding a feature on the unit converter that'd allow users to easily copy a code, in order to show dynamic fiat values of certain Bitcoin amounts on threads of this forum?
- AFAICR, all of the other alternatives from the past were limited to USD only and I'm looking for a way to use other fiat currencies in local boards.
