1561  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Feedback wanted] P2P and non-custodial stablecoin <-> BTC service on: February 02, 2022, 02:20:27 PM
In fact, I've written up the design proposal for my solution here: https://github.com/liberdapps/SwapBTC

Any comments/feedback would be deeply appreciated.
It doesn't seem to be fairly balanced... In your proposal, the buyer [AKA Alice] had more leeway to influence or rather change certain situations in her favor...

  • If Bob never sends the Bitcoins or never marks the trade as paid, after T1, Alice will be able to cancel the trade, unlocking their stablecoins and also getting Bob’s security deposit as a punishment to Bob not following the terms.
That's absurd [bolded parts]! Perhaps there might be a way to automate the first part...

  • Once Bob marks the trade as paid, Alice will have a time T2 to verify that the payment has been correctly made and either confirm or reject the trade.
What'll happen if Bob sends the correct amount but Alice intentionally rejects the trade?
1562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Half Bitcoin 🤗 on: February 02, 2022, 09:47:06 AM
Would I personally be okay if it went to 0? Yes. This is a risk I am willing to take,
But would you feel the same way if everything that you've achieved so far, suddenly goes down the drain? If the answer to that is "NO", then you should refrain from making announcements [not just in a public forum] in regards to how much BTCitcoin you currently have in your possession [you're just going to make yourself a target]!

My next step is to make a bitcoin with it.
If I were you, my next step would've been to make sure I'm keeping it in a safe place instead.
1563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What are your plans for the 2022 crypto market? on: February 02, 2022, 08:03:15 AM
What are your plans for 2022 to continue earning more for yourself? What do you think about the crypto market in 2022?
This may sound negative, but I prefer to work harder, as opposed to hoping that the whole crypto markets' value would go to the moon.
- As things turned out, "history doesn't always repeat itself" so I prefer to "properly [FYI: I'm not referring to other shitcoins]" diversify my portfolio [a bit similar to @OgNasty's comment].
1564  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: February 01, 2022, 06:45:36 PM
Actually, included din yung username, e-mail, and campaign signature transactions ko dito sa forum
Mas mabuti cgurong wag nalang sabihin about sig campaigns, instead crypto trader or hodler nalang.
Tama si Oasisman... Masyadong risky yung ginawa mo dahil sa nature ng campaign na sinalihan mo.

Grabe naman yan! What next? Manghihingi sila ng password para icheck kung ikaw tlga ang owner ng account [SMH]? Angry
1565  Other / New forum software / Re: Progress? We're waiting... on: February 01, 2022, 04:17:01 PM
Is there a roadmap?
Epochtalk had a "roadmap" before, but at some point in 2020 [or 2021], they removed that page [you can still check some of its content from the following "archived version"].

Are there any things we, as a community, can do to help development?
Here you go:

1566  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Another Ledger scam attempt!!! on: January 31, 2022, 09:42:00 PM
no matter how hard you pass the information across, no matter the warning displayed during the generation of seed phrase on reputed wallet, some people will just still be falling for this type of easy-to-avoid scam. Even, common pay 2 and get 4, they are falling for it.
but the sad thing is that some people are falling for this crap all the time.
It's not something that people should do, but they do it because they lack the knowledge or are too surprised with the information they get and do whatever it says in the email.
Usually, those who easily fall for such scams are actually the ones who have significant amounts at risk [they tend to have little to no time for learning a bit more than just the basics stuff].

I don't know how many people own Ledger wallets, and if the number is large enough it's almost guaranteed that a fraction of them (however small) will fall for it and thus lose all their coins.
Ledger has sold "over 3 million" wallets so far and even though that doesn't automatically equate to having 3 million users [e.g. multiple wallet owners], it's still a huge number [unfortunately].

Do you have the link to submit my seed phrases to? I have a few billion seed phrases, certainly wouldn't want any of them to be terminated, so I'll submit them as fast as I can.

1567  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Exchange BTC, USDT to fiat USD, RUB on: January 31, 2022, 06:30:06 PM
We will bring more trust asap.
Would you mind signing a message from an address that has "at least" 10% of the amount that's currently being shown as your reserve [I don't think that's going to be a big stumbling block in regards to protecting your privacy]?
- I'm just referring to the BTCitcoin part [archived].
1568  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Another Ledger scam attempt!!! on: January 31, 2022, 02:46:39 PM
While I was browsing the Ledger's subreddit, I stumbled upon another lame phishing attempt: Another scam email
- They're not even trying that hard anymore [e.g. outdated logo (apart from their obvious attempt at getting the seed phrases)], but I wouldn't be surprised to see tech-illiterate users falling for it!

1569  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The legal status of crypto currencies all over the world on: January 31, 2022, 01:12:32 PM
But I saw their local thread in this forum বাংলাদেশ (Bangladesh) are quite active, does they're illegaly in terms using cryptocurrencies and could be jailed?
I had no luck in finding an updated version of their anti-money laundering law [not sure if there's any] but based on "this old article", those who are dealing with BTCitcoin and cryptocurrencies could face up to 12 years in prison!

I also wonder how they can convert their coins to fiat while Bank can froze their funds if they detect the funds come from suspicious activity.
Face-to-face deals, decentralized exchanges, or even indirect ways like gift cards [there might be more]...
1570  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Antminer S19i with 6 months warranty on: January 31, 2022, 10:48:14 AM
(willing to escrow providing I can get some of it released for shipping and duty fees)
That's the tricky part! We had some users in the past that scammed others for that reason [I'm not implying that you're one of them, but one never knows...].

  • In order to increase the chances of selling that rig, you should "follow this thread" and include a picture that shows the rig in question, together with your forum name and the date on a piece of paper.
1571  Other / Meta / Re: What outsiders know or say about Bitcointalk. on: January 30, 2022, 08:54:09 PM
I have introduced alot of crypto newbies to this forum and after registering, they are told they can't post until they've paid a fee for the evil their IP committed, as hilarious as it sounds, the fees are very small but due to the fact this guys are very new to crypto, some find it very difficult to pay and end up abandoning the forum and their account,
A couple of workarounds:

  • For smaller fees, they could've tried faucets that "paid and still pay directly" to external addresses.
  • Register another account with a different IP.

Remove Proxyban (evil fees) - email to get whitelisted for free.

Not sure if more people can do it in the meantime.

1572  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Square is considering making a hardware wallet for Bitcoin on: January 30, 2022, 06:03:02 PM
I think that Keystone wallet is the only one that offers some kind of hybrid battery solution in their Keystone pro version.
They have standard lithium slim battery and in the same package everyone receives fat empty container for regular AAA batteries that can work in emergency cases.
I never really dived that deep into it, until you mentioned it and I immediately fell in love with how they designed those batteries.
- Block should follow that design, as opposed to integrating both of them at the same time.

but some people are claiming that NFC is relatively safer and more simple option.
I have limited knowledge about its security but in regards to the simplicity of its approach, it means little to nothing if it's going to work occasionally.
- My previous phone had fewer connection issues with NFC-enabled devices than the one I'm currently using [not sure why].
1573  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Russia To Ban Cryptocurrencies on: January 30, 2022, 03:43:21 PM
Russa legalize cryptocurrencies in 2020 but banned their use as a means of payment.
Opposition and media funding accounts for an insignificant fraction of crypto use in Russia but the security services are worried that it is a growing problem, they said.
When they're going to learn that they can't actually ban it [with the exception of CBDCs and certain stablecoins] from being used by their citizens!

The Bank of Russia said crypto mining created problems for energy consumption as Russia is one of the largest crypto-miner in the world. Meanwhile, The central bank is planning to issue its own digital rouble.
In other words, the former is being used as an excuse for the latter part! They only care about having full control over their citizens...
1574  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: linzhi.cn.com REVIEW!! THIS IS A SCAM WEBSITE!!! on: January 30, 2022, 10:46:36 AM
I get it, good for him, I agree that the post helped but if you lie to catch a liar what makes you then?
I couldn't find an appropriate term [off the top of my head] to describe this situation, but I guess a "blue liar" is close enough.

And I'm convinced that he avoided on purpose making a revie about linzhi.cn.com so in my eyes he's just another scammer!
May I know why you're still convinced that smooki3 has a connection with the website in question [perhaps I've missed something]?
1575  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Worth of bitcoin ATM machines (BATMThree) on: January 29, 2022, 09:13:58 PM
How would you value used bitcoin atms being resold as new and as used?
~Snipped~
E.G. for used typical hardware the price is reduced by half (not gpus or miners).
From what I've seen so far, the used ones "normally" go for 10 to 15% cheaper than the brand-new ones, but having said that, I've also seen certain used models have/had a higher price than the brand-new ones [it probably has something to do with shortages and shipping delays]!

Specifically im looking at buying some used BATMThree machines.
~Snipped~
but these are selling for 6k as a starting point.
If I were you, I'd pay slightly more to get a brand-new one instead.
1576  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Paymaya planning to add crypto? on: January 29, 2022, 06:58:51 PM
Mukhang nalalapit na ang pagkakaroon ng cryptocurrency services sa platform nila, dahil finally kumuha na sila ng license from BSP: PayMaya, Facebook’s Novi now hold BSP license as Virtual Asset Service Providers

Maybe an insurance has to be put in place? Just like how your funds in the bank is insured up to 500k. At the very least, it is better than not being able to control your entire wallet.
That'd be great at may ilang cryptocurrency exchanges na ininsured na nila ang users nila up to a certain amount, pero mas maganda parin kung tayo lang ang may access sa private keys.
1577  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The legal status of crypto currencies all over the world on: January 29, 2022, 02:06:45 PM
By omitting the citation column from your table [assuming that you were the one who wrote that article], you got rid of the most important part that had all of the necessary links.
- Personally, I prefer a table that's ugly and complete, instead of a nice-looking table that's missing some information.

The Library of Congress in its report titled, “Regulation of Cryptocurrency Around the World: November 2021 Update,” highlighted an alarming trend wherein the number of nations prohibiting cryptocurrencies has more than quadrupled since 2018.
I don't see Indonesia on the list regarding the legal status that applies to crypto there, did they forget to include Indonesia.
Based on its "original source", it seems that he [unintentionally] skipped/missed the following countries:

Code:
Indonesia
Iraq
Ireland
Isle of Man
Israel
Italy
Japan
1578  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Ticket Scam on: January 29, 2022, 12:34:03 PM
The final wallet addresses are

bc1quygx623uep8pkmwssv5m3xw4xm92uj4c4pqz6wwutaz0jnll5dcqsnhjhg
bc1q4fkyxgtffj6r6693af2g59q6t0mnnv9g7fy7fag27k937qxc2fhqv7nzdq

Is there any way of finding out if these are exchanges or ATM for sure.
I've already checked both of these addresses in "WalletExplorer", but unfortunately, none of them had any labels [e.g. exchange and etc...] attached to them [you might want to also try it with the address that they've given you initially].

1579  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Updates from the Female Wrestling Channel on: January 29, 2022, 10:19:20 AM
AFAICS, your platform only delivers digital products but for some reason, you're asking for "certain information" that doesn't make much sense [the email alone should be more than enough, especially for those that are going to pay with BTCitcoin and other cryptocurrencies]!

  • If it is necessary to fill a request for products or services offered through our web site, we may share personal information with our business partners to effect the delivery of those products and/or services.
Would you mind sharing their names?

PS.  How do you post a picture here?
As a "Newbie" user, you can't [it'll automatically convert to a link] but having said that, there's a workaround by "purchasing a copper membership".
- After you're done with the above part, you have to use a third-party image-sharing website like "Imgur".

1580  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor hacked (again) on: January 28, 2022, 09:57:23 PM
I have a question, why is the PIN code sufficient?
It wasn't... The hacker in question "retrieved the seed phrases" as well.

In other words, if a password of sufficient length is inserted, will the hacker easily gain access to the device?
If you were referring to using a passphrase, then even in such cases, hackers can't access it [it's not stored on the hardware wallet].
