621  Economy / Goods / Re: "Transcendence" a $750 Bitcoin Art Piece on: November 23, 2014, 09:06:56 PM
That's great about the positive effects Bitcoin has had for your business. Monetary freedom is very nice, and like you said- you don't have to explain why you are buying something for your work. You shouldn't have to explain or seek approval for simple purchases you make in your everyday life. Using BTC is like buying or selling your goods in a direct P2P cash transaction anywhere in the world. If I'm across the world and I want to buy your products directly from you, why should we have to involve a 3rd party? To pay them fees?  Cheesy

If you really want to support the Bitcoin economy though- don't dump all the BTC received for sales to fiat money immediately, like many vendors "accepting Bitcoin" through Coinbase or BitPay do...  Show some faith and hold some, or experience all of the purchases and sales you can make with it. I enjoy spending Bitcoin, and I believe there is a way to get almost everything you need with it now, in one way or another.

Good luck with your business, and keep up the great work. I've enjoyed seeing the few different pieces you've posted so far, and it has been cool to learn more about rare & exotic woods and the different properties they have. Do you have a website?
622  Economy / Goods / Re: "Transcendence" a $750 Bitcoin Art Piece on: November 23, 2014, 08:00:05 PM
Wow, that is simply amazing; incredible work. I love the spiral effect also, and I feel like I can almost see the iridescence you mentioned slightly through the photo even.

I agree it does seem like you are a top notch woodworker/artist, and I can tell you know what you're talking about when it comes to the different qualities of some fine wood. I respect the passion you have for your fine craft, and I agree that you are a unique asset to the Bitcoin community. Thanks for joining us here.
623  Other / Off-topic / Re: Just got my commissioned piece of art done by start the art on: November 23, 2014, 02:46:43 AM
I like it, and I bet it looks even better in person. And with a few other pieces of art around the house, it would be a nice piece to represent Bitcoin without looking like a commercial logo on a poster.
624  Economy / Digital goods / Re: {Selling} - Starbucks Gift Card for 30% on: November 23, 2014, 01:08:45 AM
PM'd you. Want to add another $50 to the $100 card you sent me ASAP. I'm 2 minutes away from there.
625  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 8 Bitcoin Magazine Back issues on: November 22, 2014, 11:48:02 PM
Damn, I just saw this I would have jumped on that. Let me know if you sell anymore issues, would like to check them out. Always enjoy a good physical magazine when I have time to read a bit, and am not a big fan of reading them on phones or tablets.
626  Economy / Goods / Re: Woodwallets at 50% for black friday. on: November 22, 2014, 02:37:41 AM
Nice products OP, I think they're really cool. It's funny I was just thinking the other day about paper wallets & other unique ways to hold BTC, and had the thought that I've never seen a wooden cold storage wallet.

The engraving in the wood looks elegant & smooth. Are any parts of it printed or stamped on there, or all engraved/carved into there? A QR code engraved into some wood just seems interesting to me- it's like a cross between the newest technologies and ancient art.

Will definitely be buying at least 1 of these; posting here to remind myself about the 50% off Black Friday sale.
Also- The option of having up to a 40 character message added onto it is free with the public/private key Wood Wallet?
627  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] high end men's timepieces on: November 20, 2014, 06:11:18 PM
I have a very nice Luminox watch, might not be exactly the same level of companies listed in the OP, but let me know if you're interested and I could get you some details and pictures later.

629  Economy / Collectibles / Re: some silver for sale. on: November 19, 2014, 10:14:40 PM
Ah, sorry I just read again and caught that line about not wanting to break it up.
If you do decide to split any of the items though, I will give you a decent price for it.
630  Economy / Collectibles / Re: some silver for sale. on: November 19, 2014, 10:08:11 PM
I want the silver Bitcoin. I need to be sure it's not one of the many fakes floating around on eBay though (there are a lot), could you please take a close up picture and PM it to me or post?

It should be this coin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=269535.0

If it is legit and solid 0.999 silver instead of plated I will buy it for sure.
631  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Swiss Issued 'Physical Bitcoin Certificates' on: November 19, 2014, 01:33:13 PM
^ I believe when buying a loaded certificate, you pay for the certificate and the amount of Bitcoin to be loaded. Once delivered safely, you call/email Bitcoin Suisse AG and they send the BTC to the certificate.

Much the same process that most physical Bitcoin (wallet types) makers are using now.
632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TIL: Where the bitcoins at… Mysteries of the Blockchain on: November 19, 2014, 02:25:26 AM
Excellent analysis OP, and quite an interesting read for the Bitcoin enthusiast.

I have a few questions, not just to you but anybody feel free to chime in on answers if you want.

Broken addresses:

There are 326 addresses with a balance where the address is “non standard”, a non standard address is one that cannot be decoded by the bitcoin core, and most likely can never be spent again.

Total non standard unspent outputs = 2,614.256208 BTC
example: https://blockchain.info/tx/ddddf9f04b4c1d4e1185cacf5cf302f3d11dee5d74f71721d741fbb507062e9e

How could this have happened? How could Bitcoin be transferred to an address that it can't decode when Bitcoin has a check-sum that does not allow you to send to addresses that don't exist (i.e. mistakes typing)? I guess what I'm asking- if it could "read" the address the first time to send an output to it, why couldn't it read it again?
I apologize if that sounds stupid; I love the technology in Bitcoin but am not the top expert on it.

Many 1’s:

There are 531 transactions going to a very unique address: 1111111111111111111114oLvT2 (many of them with advertisement like notes)
https://blockchain.info/address/1111111111111111111114oLvT2

While this is a valid address it is very likely that no individual has the private key for it, and the 2.98804915 BTC in it can never be spent

Still learning about the generation of public & private keys, but why is it so unlikely that people don't have the private keys for these strange addresses? Is it because it would be relatively quick & possible to process through all possibilities of addresses to find one containing those letters/numbers there in order to be able to find a matching public key to send transactions to it?   But take exponentially longer to both find a matching (to selected letters/numbers) public key and a private key that matched that address?

I hope my questions make sense the way I wrote them out; if anybody is somewhat unclear about what I mean, let me know.
633  Economy / Services / Re: Silver Wallets Signature Campaign on: November 18, 2014, 11:09:38 PM
As the first member to join this campaign on the first day, my 60 day period will be up 10 days from now!

Nightowlace- I sent a question about the Silver Wallet payment to you via PM. I'm happy to have been able to participate in this unique signature campaign, thanks for putting it on.
634  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS]/[WTT] Casascius, Lealana, Microsoul, Silver Wallets, Kialara, Serpcoin,... on: November 18, 2014, 10:20:39 PM
@nicolas I am ready to buy 3 of those as we spoke about, details PM'd.

Thanks
635  Other / Archival / Re: ★★★ CRYPTOLATOR COPPER UNCHAINED CLEARANCE SALE - SERIES LIMITED TO 500 ★★★ on: November 18, 2014, 10:15:21 PM
That is a pretty decent deal especially shipping included (to North America). I've been wanting to get one of the copper unchained and would jump on this set if I hadn't already bought too many coins for now. If you still have it going for a week or 2 I might get one (set) then.

Love my numbered Merlin Gold Unchained Series coin I got from bitguy101, you guys did a great job on that die and the minting looked great! Keep up the good work can't wait to see the next design!
636  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet Hashcoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: November 18, 2014, 09:30:22 PM
@suchmoon- I've read most of your other thread in the past, nice work and thank you for bringing matters like this to the community's attention.

GAW and the Zen hashlets could easily be a Ponzi scheme, but then again so could PB Mining and others. It could also be legitimate though, and sometimes when starting out big things you may have to lose a little bit to gain a huge following and the market and over time you can level out to profit. Proof of legit mining is always good/necessary, but it makes sense why a company wouldn't exactly want to post their mining address(es)- basically their company financial info.

Hashcoin to me sounds shady and I don't like something SO centralized being "marketed" as the new Bitcoin. I would never buy or hold any of those personally.

And Major merchant adoption like Wal Mart & others for Hashcoin sounds like a pipe dream meant to pacify the masses (Hashlet owners) and an unrealistic future for the coin. I for one think there's no way places like Walmart would agree to accept "Hashcoin" at their locations all of a sudden, when it has no real value outside of the GAW company IMO. If they're not accepting Bitcoin yet- there's no way they are going to support something called Hashcoin. Pro Tip- the suits at the top of those companies aren't going to think of "mining power hashing away at Bitcoins" when they hear the word Hash with it.

Good thread though- I'll have to read through more of it when I have time.

637  Economy / Auctions / Re: [Auction] 10x Ravenbit SATOSHI physical bitcoins - "The Zero Set" [Ends Nov 19] on: November 18, 2014, 02:21:29 AM
These are beautiful coins, RavenBit did a great job on the design and the mint on mine is fantastic and crisp. The coin reminds me of a Bitcoin Penny (USD) but with Satoshi instead of Abraham Lincoln. The RavenBit drawstring bags, airtite & display stand, and the packaging is fantastic, ready for gifting or resale (or just for your collection) right out of the box.

I don't have that much extra BTC at the moment, or I would totally be bidding on these, but that is my solid vouch. I've seen some selling on eBay for $70 a piece recently as well.

By the way Tom I just received my #8 Node coin today from the other auction- it looks great as well! Much better in person than pictures IMO. I really hope RavenBit is working on a third design, PM me if so.

There are many trusted members who will provide escrow at little or no cost.
Search: DannyHamilton, devthedev, and escrow.ms for a start maybe.
639  Economy / Digital goods / Re: {Selling} - Starbucks Gift Card for 30% on: November 17, 2014, 02:57:45 AM
Yes, please provide proof. All of my cards have been fine & stayed fine. Probably an actual scammer Starbucks GC seller trying to knock their competition. I only deal with sofia26 for Starbucks cards.

Here are some pictures I took of my received Bitcoin Swiss AG certificates, and a brief review as promised. I am not the best photographer nor have the best camera; they look even better than in my pictures.
EDIT: Some of the pictures weren't loading all the way for me when checking, so I made the pictures clickable links to the same pictures I uploaded.

Shown next to a USD $50 bill for size comparison. As you can see, the BTC Swiss AG Cert. is just slightly shorter in length and a bit taller.

A sweet demo certificate they sent with my order

The embossed Bitcoin logo

A close-up of the security hologram

The first thing I'd like to note in my review is how fast the international shipping was! My certificates were shipped from Switzerland on November 11th, and I received them in the U.S. on November 15th! (not the 14th as I mistakenly wrote originally)

I was slightly worried when I first saw the package, because they were sent in a regular envelope, not a padded envelope as I had been expecting. However when I opened it up, I saw that the certificates were packaged between layers of cardboard, and to my pleasant surprise they were in pristine condition!

I was happy with them at first glance. They are manufactured on a thick and stiff, high-quality certificate paper. All of the printing was nicely done, with no smudges of ink or anything of the sort. They look beautiful and very exquisite, and have the quality you would expect out of a Swiss financial product. There are several security features proving they are authentic Bitcoin Suisse AG certificates such as: an embossed BTC logo, a security hologram embedded into the layers of paper, and a unique serial number for each certificate. The security features remind me of some higher-value fiat currencies and payroll checks. They also come with signed official Certificates of Authenticity from Bitcoin Suisse AG, yet another "security" feature promising for a smooth re-sale or transfer in the future.

With the quality of the graphics and printing, they reminded me of a 'Bitcoin' stock certificate or bond. I fully believe they would make great Christmas presents and gifts for other occasions, whether wanting to get a friend or relative into Bitcoin, or even for those already into BTC. I think they would also be a cool thing to buy and hold, to pass onto grandchildren or other descendants sometime in the future. I fully plan on buying some funded certificates in the near future to hold onto or pass on to friends and family. I have already sent a little bit of BTC to my Generic non-denominated certificate.

Side-Note: They sent me the Demo certificate to open up and try sweeping the funds. I was going to do this to test it, but since Pistachio already opened his and posted the results, I think I might hang onto it as sort of a 'rare' certificate from Bitcoin Suisse AG.  Smiley
Or I might wait to open it until I give another certificate to someone as a gift, and then show them how it works on the Demo certificate.

Overall, I was very pleased with the whole experience from the great customer service when ordering, to receiving a quality finished product in a short amount of time. The only small recommendation I would make to Bitcoin Suisse AG is to buy custom-fit thin plastic sleeves to include over the certificate. I think it would be a nice touch, that could be added to the process without adding a lot of production costs, and it would be the equivalent of a physical BTC coin being sent in a plastic sleeve or airtite capsule for protection and handling. You know most of us coin nerds don't want to touch the product with our greasy and dirty human hands!  Wink
