1021  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoinpete - Hater or someone to take serious? on: June 17, 2014, 09:37:10 PM
Oh my goodness, lol! I thought you were talking about bitcoinpete's site at first, that is what my comments referred to. When I confirmed you were talking about MPEx, I checked their site and just about had my eyes burned out, ha. And I'm not even a hater of simple, straight-to-the-point, no fluff sites (I Love just-dice's statistics-heavy bare bones layout). But honestly, functionality and security aside, I would probably not want to check back into that site frequently. Maybe this will reach them and they will change their ways.

He likes MPEx a lot:
MPEx vs. The Play Bitcoin Exchanges
http://bitcoinpete.com/2014/05/11/mpex-vs-the-play-bitcoin-exchanges/
Last time I looked that site still appeared to be a pitiful joke...Looks are not everything, but you have got to be kidding, right?

Hmm... agreed. And this is coming from somebody who needs to update/change/work on his own site too. But yes- very, very basic design going on there. Very boring to the wandering eyes. 2 colors on a white background, no pictures in sight (or, site?  Wink). Need to keep those readers/followers/visitors satisfied with some more eye-appealing content.
1023  Economy / Services / Re: WE PAY FOR SIGNATURE EVEN MORE. UP TO 0.0016 BTCs PER POST. WEEKLY PAYOUTS. on: June 17, 2014, 09:19:33 PM
Glad I took my own personal doubt about my involvement in this campaign and turned it into feelings of security and confidence with Stunna and PrimeDice. I personally have a family, and if I am taking a lot of time to write relevant, constructive replies on this forum, I would like to get paid for it as agreed upon. Instead of getting duped into a month's worth of free advertising for a somewhat shady site.

This is just my personal opinion though, you have to make up your own mind. For all I know he could come through a month from now and everybody will get paid even more than they were hoping for. However it seems much likelier it will go the other way.

Just my 2 cents,

Haven't read or come across much by him, but when I had, I could detect a little taste of that too...

it seemed to me like the author is very emotional / arrogant / opinionated / negative.

However, fully agree on this too. No point being a celebrity talk show host if all you spout is rainbows and air.

what i hate is sheeple that are just pleasant to each other and ignorant to facts/research. listen to any and all information and then look beyond what they have said to see if what they say holds weight. id prefer to read/listen to 10 opinionated people rather than listen/read repeated waffle from sheeple who don't do any research

I also think it's funny how OP referenced his American slang, from what I understand he is from Canada. Don't read many bloggers or anything like that personally though, although I do enjoy some good journalism and relevant stories.
1025  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: June 17, 2014, 08:58:56 PM
I asked wetsuit before on here, months ago, if anybody had ever hit 10,000 in Free Roll or 8888 in the multiplier. I don't think he ever responded, but I would still be interested to know. I like low-chance wins, like when you see somebody on just-dice hitting under 5 at 5% chance and winning big.

Hi, I'm Jon Snow and I know nothing.  Cheesy

Seriously, please add me. I'm new here. Thank you.  Smiley

Hello Jon Snow, if you truly know nothing about Bitcoin, I would suggest having a read of this page: http://www.cryptoplanet.co/BTCIntro.html
That will give you a pretty good understanding of Bitcoin. You can also get a little bit of free Bitcoin there, as well as finding a list of verified free/earn BTC sites.

Hope it helps & welcome to the community,

1027  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: June 17, 2014, 04:22:21 PM
Been watching this thread, I'm digging the automated payment system. Sounds like something that will really help Stunna out as well. I still have about 8 more posts to make to hit 50, and it is approx. 12:20 PM on the 17th here where I live, so can I still finish posting my 50 posts today and then request payment via the automated system?

Thanks for all of the tips guys. It looks like Avast! is clearly the highest recommended so far, I think I will look into that and Malwarebytes.
1029  Other / Off-topic / Re: Good, free AntiVirus & Anti-shitware? on: June 16, 2014, 05:24:03 PM
I will definitely check into that, I've heard of it here-and-there a few times in the past. Has anybody else had any experience with Avast! here? The ol' lady installed AVG a couple weeks ago on her brother's suggestion. It seems to have caught a couple shit programs, but this BS adware called Playtopus popped back up after I uninstalled it. I can't stand it when working on my site, because it makes certain words underlined, and when clicked pops up shitty ads. I can't stand seeing that crap on something I created, ha.

Hey guys. So, long story short, a soda got spilled on my laptop last night. This was also at the worst time possible, because I'm currently working on 2 sites, one of which is for my froend's business and needs to get finished and up Asap. Luckily, I had backups of the files, so I'm not completely screwed there. We have a few different, old laptops around the house here. I'm going to have to jump on one to continue immediately in the meantime.

However, I'm not sure how clean & safe these computers are. My fiancée's laptop Definitely has some shit adware, at least. I was wondering what you guys knew about antiVirus, everything else software (Malware, adware, Keylogger, etc.). I'm always weary about searching for and downloading antiVirus software, because ironically, many contain malicious objects themselves. Looking for something tried, tested, and true, verified by the community here.
1031  Other / Off-topic / Re: Soda spilled on laptop, Please help! on: June 16, 2014, 04:40:37 PM
God presented an opportunity. Dump it and get a MacBook Air.

Lol. I'm very open to that opportunity. He/she/it would just have to present a MacBook Air as well. I would love to get a new laptop, though I did love mine, but won't be able to right now due to a shortage of funds.

You've probably fried the connection between the computer and the monitor.

When you spill something on a laptop, turn it over and remove the battery instantly.  Wait for it to completely dry before you attempt to power it on.

Probably won't help you now though.  Embarrassed

Ha yes, sage advice received just a little too late. Everything I read just mentioned removing the battery immediately. Though I Did remove it before most of the time in front of the fan, I didn't power off and remove it until a little too late.

How complicated/expensive/lengthy would it be to remove a fried connection there, if that was the case?
1032  Other / Off-topic / Soda spilled on laptop, Please help! on: June 16, 2014, 04:20:22 PM
Hey everybody. Last night I was sitting on the back porch with my little family (myself, my fiancee, and our 3.5 year old daughter. I have been doing an extra amount of work on the computer lately working on 2 different websites, and as such have had to bring my laptop with me everywhere I go. Sitting down doing some work, my daughter (who was bored) wanting to start throwing the ball with me. Totally cool, I love playing ball with my little girl. The ball we were playing with was one of the thin-plastic, air filled kids balls, and very lightweight. We were having a lot of fun, and she decided to start playing with the bigger, heavier kick ball. When I was turned around checking on something real quick (just-dice), she threw the ball up in the air and it landed on a half-full 32 ounce gas station soda. This knocked the pop right over and fully spilled onto my laptop. Oh shit!

So for starters I said, "Oh shit." Then, I hurriedly grabbed it and flipped it over, trying to pour out any excess liquid Asap. My fiancee told me about her hair dryer in the bedroom. I ran in there and and started using it on high heat, and blowing the keyboard area in an upside down position. I did this for a while, moving the hair dryer to all areas. I then turned a box fan on high and set the laptop in an upside down "V" position, with it open. I set it up like this in front of the fan on high. Today, it will power up and I can hear it running, but I cannot see anything. The monitor will not come on, it is just black nothingness. What can I do to help this? I also tried powering it up a couple times last night and today, and didn't turn my laptop off last night after the spill happened. Today, I learned that both of these things were bad.  Huh

Can anyone help me out with this/give me advice?

Guys, I have a question:

Where Freebitco.in take Bitcoin to pay us?

I don't trust of the sources of income... why Freebitco.in should buy bitcoin for us?

Oh, lol. Him having AdBlocker turned on does make sense in relation to the questions he was asking. I had no idea what he meant originally. Apparently, he thought you being able to give us all BTC for *free* was some sort of conspiracy, ha.

*The Bitcoin we receive on freebitco.in is not actually free at all, but purchased out-of-pocket for the site's rewards by the owner. Support your local BTC faucet today, click on and check out some of the advertised pages.*

Guys, I have a question:

Where Freebitco.in take Bitcoin to pay us?

Do you think we should know? I remember wetsuit said where he had been buying bitcoins (at Bitstamp, if I'm not mistaken)... Roll Eyes

Yes he said he used to buy every month but now he supposedly buy more often so the number of free satoshis moves quickly with the BTC market price

From communicating with him and observing/using his site over time, I feel that wetsuit is very good at writing code, in my opinion at least. So I feel that he has coded some sort of algorithm that automatically adjusts the amount of BTC given out based upon the current exchange rate, rather than changing it by hand every single time. With the amount of users he has constantly doing the free rolls and multiplier rolls, I would think it would be Very easy to get buried by an un-adjusted amount of BTC given out when the exchange rate changes rapidly. Because of this I also think the automatically adjusted amounts would possibly be the only way for him to stay up with it. However, as you can tell from his level of responsiveness to problems brought up & suggestions made in this thread, he is a very dedicated site owner. Props to him again for building, running, and maintaining one of the most popular free BTC sites, if not THE most popular one.
1038  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Where do I get free Bitcoin? The maintained list of verified free Bitcoin Sites. on: June 13, 2014, 11:22:40 PM
I have a question, why do people make faucets,is it profitable for them?

If so,how?

I can answer that directly, as I am the owner of a BTC faucet site ( http://www.cryptoplanet.co/BTCfaucet.php -if you would like to check it out). Yes, it Can be profitable if done right. Most of the revenue will be generated from advertisements displayed on the faucet site (banner ads & the like). Faucet sites, if marketed correctly and the word gets out, will generate lots of web traffic. However, you have to find the right balance of advertising revenue coming in vs. BTC being given out. I know for my site personally I have given out over 0.25 BTC in about 2 weeks already, just 200 Satoshi at a time. I have Publisher-advertising accounts set-up with 3 different entities right now. 2 of them pay me in BTC, although very little amounts so far (hopefully this will be starting to rise soon). The other one is a big-name technology/advertising company and they will be paying me in USD. I make alright amounts off of that company's ads, although it will be about 60+ days since the start of that company's ads until I get paid. I am definitely not making any huge amounts of money for anything to brag about. As I said though, hopefully this will rise over time as I continue to build up my site and build up traffic. I know a couple BTC-faucet owners who DO make sizeable amounts though, it is definitely possible. But it takes skill, knowledge, start-up funds, and time. I myself am not a rich person, by Any means. So giving out over 0.25 BTC in 2 weeks already has been very hard on my financial state. I didn't start out with very much $ or BTC to begin with- this was probably a mistake. In the meantime though I have done, and will do, anything possible to keep refilling my faucet and keep it from running out. I don't want to lose credibility for myself/my site, and I don't want to disappoint people using it. (I also know the feeling of loading a faucet site, entering my BTC address, and solving the captcha- only to be told the faucet's balance is empty. I don't like wasted time either.)

And still- you could get tons of traffic to your site, but not make much at all off of advertising. Most advertising pays on a pay-per-click basis. So, you could have tons of people visiting your faucet, but still not make much at all if they don't click on any of the ads. If you enjoy a faucet site and use it regularly- try to keep this in mind. You can help the faucet owner (who is helping you with free BTC) by just clicking on an ad every once in a while, they will definitely appreciate it. I have seen many sites that have frustrating pop-up ads and CoinURL re-direct links constantly bothering you. While adding this may help me to better afford my site, I don't want to put my end-users through this annoying, bothersome practice. So, in short- yes, it Can be profitable. But it can also be unprofitable and cause more losses than gains. I highly recommend starting out with a sizeable amount of BTC beforehand if you are thinking of starting one.

There is also another reason that I, and probably other people, run faucet sites: To help people get started with Bitcoin! I got started with BTC myself through faucet sites and earning sites, and I wanted to sort of "pay it forward" and add another faucet to help new users out. The more people worldwide using Bitcoin, the better. Mass adoption, baby. Economic freedom for all worldwide through this wonderful currency we call Bitcoin. This reason was equally why I wanted to start one, I didn't start it to get rich (but I wouldn't be sad if that eventually happened one day Wink)

This^ is a bit of a lengthy reply, but I hope it helped give you some answers to your questions. If you, or anybody else reading this, has anymore questions, PM me and I will do my best to reply when I have time. My site ( http://cryptoplanet.co/ ) is far from finished, and I have a Lot more work to do on finishing and adding new sections. However, at the moment I have to put it on the backburner as I am completely starting over on a new site from scratch for my friend's company. He has a lot of business and just got the legal authority to be one of only a handful of vendors worldwide allowed to sell a certain product. And remember- if you like and/or regularly use a faucet site, consider returning the favor by checking out some of the sites advertised on the faucet site.

Hope this helps,
snarlpill
1039  Economy / Services / Re: New 400 BTC Bounty Pales Roger Ver's 37.6 BTC Bounty for Return of Stolen BTC on: June 13, 2014, 05:15:19 AM
Posting so that I have this thread in my "new replies to your last posts" list so I can remember to follow along daily with your journey to be made whole again.

Also, I really wish I was some epic Black Hat and could get in, get your BTC back, and massively fuck/deface that shady Instawallet system. Good luck to you Phin. I may not be that person, but I'm hoping you already have a few people that do have those capabilities following along with it. A 400 BTC bounty will definitely turn heads and grab some headlines.
1040  Economy / Economics / Re: Expedia Starts Accepting Bitcoin for Hotel Bookings on: June 13, 2014, 03:44:31 AM
I definitely don't think this will have any specific effect on BTC price changing. However though, more and more big name companies are starting to accept Bitcoin payments every single day it seems. And this is great news overall. So by itself no huge price jump, but as a smaller part of the big picture snowball effect, it will help in the long-run.
