642  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why bitcoin never a ponzi on: July 26, 2020, 02:12:34 AM
Bitcoin is not a ponzi its decentralized and a open source that we can use to pay peer to peer. Some aligation is not proven because some are using bitcoin to fraud the others by using the name of bitcoin. Maybe much better to study deeply about crypto and bitcoin so they undestand the meaning of it.

You really can't blame ignorant people. No matter how humanity advance in technology, there will always be those people who oppose it or at least see it something as something that it isn't. We can only educate them as there is a slim chance that they will educate themselves about this.
643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if Tether (USDT) flips Ethereum (ETH)? on: July 25, 2020, 02:31:32 AM
Who cares? Those are 2 different project anyway and it doesn't really matter to people if USDT beats Ethereum in terms of marketcap. USDT doesn't really serves any purpose except for being a stablecoin. A coin that is used mostly on trading (and wash trading).

You make it sound like there is a war going on between the two. At the end of the day, people will follow whatever is convenient to them. They can even use any of those for whatever reason they want because those 2 serves different purposes.
644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Steve Wozniak Sues YouTube Over Twitter-Like Bitcoin Scam on: July 25, 2020, 02:11:16 AM
i do not necessarily consider the the suit. Although loads of people and projects have been upto false giveaways but i think Steven Wozniak should pay deaf ears to what comes out of people who decide not to keep their dignity and integrity by living up to their expectations. Its really not worth the stress although it will serve as a deterant.

I think he doesn't really care what others say to him personally about this but I think what he cares about is his reputation that is being tarnished because of those scammers using his name for fake giveaways. Rumors and sayings are a bad way to do it and having him not knowing what really is going on, he won't be able to prevent it as people will have their impressions on him in a bad way.

I've researched a little bit and I think he has a slim chance to win this. Though Youtube would be losing money and time too because of this.
645  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it risky to invest in new crytpo coin/tokens? on: July 24, 2020, 02:24:48 AM
Both new and old coins pays what matters is doing research. Always do research to know what to invest in. New coins are paying very well that's if you know your way and know when to sell as you don't have to be greedy looking for when to turn billionaire from a project. Always do research anyways.
The new coins will always give good ROI at the early trade, it has possibilities to be dumped into the bottom again when it comes to the long term development. The investors will always hype the new project at the early game.

As expected. To be honest, it's a matter of who the project managers and team is. All projects are risky but I think what separates them is the advertising team. If the advertisement has a really good budget, that project will get hyped even if the concept is already taken by an older project. Don't be fooled though, it's always risky to invest in a newer project than the old one.
646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sudden Ethereum PUMP!! What is the reason? on: July 24, 2020, 02:03:14 AM
From what I could gather, this is most likely because of the hype of the Ethereum 2.0 and the bounty bug hunting that they recently announced. Most investors probably thought that the new version is nearing because they are now bug hunting. To be fair, they really did a good job advertising and hyping this new update for months and I think others are taking notice now.
647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Steve Wozniak Sues YouTube Over Twitter-Like Bitcoin Scam on: July 24, 2020, 01:04:21 AM
he notified them multiple times that some channels are running a scam, they are using his name, his face, his reputation and they didn't do anything. And at the same time, they are deleting videos with more than 5 seconds from a movie trailer or 10 seconds from an open air concert, they will have no defense since their mechanism should have instantly flagged all that content showing him

I believe it's all automated these days and only videos with huge numbers of human reports might get reviewed by a human. This is how they do these 5 second deletions, demonetization of anything featuring a swastika, etc. But the last time they tried to fight crypto scams, people were crying about censorhip and how evil Google hates crypto.

Google really needs to roll out some algorithms for detecting crypto scams, train a neural network or something, but maybe they are ignoring it because it's a low priority compared to other issues. Maybe this legal case will make them move in that direction. Especially if other people will join, because Wozniak isn't the only one who gets his image used by scammers.

Youtube is really that lazy. They were informed and yet they still didn't make move FOR A MONTH. They relied and believe too much on their bot that doesn't really help but cause more harm to the community of the platform and now they are paying the price for it.
648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Bitcoin Giving on: July 23, 2020, 11:00:56 AM
All you need is just to simply educate yourself.
Crypto is a place where the risk is high due to the lack of regulation, and if you are following the trend, a lot of people complain they lose money but most of them are newbies who enter into the market thinking that making money is very easy, but they were wrong because they got scam instead.

With continues education, I don't think we will fall for a scam, we will even know how to protect ourselves or our accounts from these scammers.

As long as we know they exist, we will know what measures we will do.

I think that's the thing most people forget about or at least isn't educated about. I think the most important factor that affects scamming is the fact that people is lacking knowledge in computers, cyber security, internet, and most importantly investment as ignorants still think that there is free money in the internet.
649  Local / Pilipinas / Re: More online stores, less tax generated on: July 23, 2020, 10:45:58 AM
650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big decision by the OCC - Banks can now hodl Bitcoins. on: July 23, 2020, 10:30:59 AM
From what I can see from this, this will surely help with the adoption and should be able to help in reaching to other investors for Bitcoin but the downside is that there will be no privacy as for sure the bank will try to ask for identifications and documents. Also, people will not own that Bitcoin as of course the bank will have the private key to it. Maybe the bank will give the key to the user when we ask? I don't know.
651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Calls On Hackers to Attack Ethereum 2.0 in Exchange for Bug Bounty on: July 22, 2020, 12:48:03 PM
This is very good news and indicates that Ethereum 2.0 testing is entering its final stages. Apparently, by the due date - November, we will finally be able to appreciate the benefits of these improvements in ethereum. It is better to immediately experience the vulnerability of these improvements from all sides, so that then there are fewer disruptions in the work. It is a very smart idea to involve hackers in this process.
This is also a golden opportunity for hackers to test their abilities, of course getting lucrative rewards. But I am not sure if they succeeded hacking into the Ethereum 2.0 network so what the rewards for? because I'm sure the hackers will ask for the biggest ransom if they success hack into Ethereum 2.0 network.

Which I think the Ethereum 2.0 team is aware of. I don't know how they are going to handle this but I don't think that they will let those hackers just do whatever they want. Remember that they have the control over the project (which is why it's not decentralized) and when a hacking happens, they can defend against it.

652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers Ask for Monero Ransom of US $ 7.5 million on: July 22, 2020, 10:30:16 AM
I think the most destructive thing about this hack is the fact that they are the largest telecommunications company in Argentina which will result in to their reputation plummeting because of this.

They are asking for too much and they are never going to get it. For far fewer amount, the victims can hire someone from Kaspersky or Norton and get their files decrypted. During the WannaCry attack, the ransom demands were much lower, usually in the range of $200-1000. BTW, this is the same group (REvil) which demanded a $42 million ransom from Donald Trump a few months back. I don't know whether Trump paid the ransom or not.

That is most likely that is going to happen. But how long are they going to decrypt this? Is it worth losing all the time or it's more worth to just pay the ransom? If they are out of commission for weeks/months or so, I wonder how will they handle their customers since they are largest telecommunications company in Argentina. It's a good thing that their service hasn't stop though.

But if they were to pay the ransom, will the hackers let it go?

653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Public stock markets welcomes cryptocurrencies , is it even necessary on: July 22, 2020, 08:31:33 AM
The thing is, there are people out there that want to take advantage of bitcoin's volatility, potential price rise, and it being a potential market hedge, who don't care about stuff like self-custody and privacy. The people who will use this are simply the typical investors and traders.

While I'm not a fan of it, whatever. If some people want to use these investing instruments, let them. At the very least, we're at least getting more market liquidity, which is always a good thing.

More important about the happening today on Bitcoin is it gains more popularity than ever which is good for the whole crypto industry because this is bitcoin we are talking about, not just some ordinary altcoins. Let's hope that this kind of news will continue for BTC so that the negative impact which was created by those scammers will soon vanish.

To be honest, I don't really see scams vanishing anytime soon or ever. Just look at how dollars are, do you see scamming dwindling? No, but with the semi-anonymous feature of Bitcoin, it's in fact easier to scam than any fiat. I don't know if this news is a good thing or not because people using Bitcoin in a public stock market means that they don't care about their identity (which I think a lot doesn't anyway) but this also means that some investors might get introduced to cryptocurrency too.
654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally some justice, scammer sent to jail at South Korea. on: July 22, 2020, 02:12:23 AM
While it is nice that at least a scammer has to face the justice system at the same time I am disappointed by this short sentence. What do you think of this?

At a first glance 2.5 years seem laughable given the financial damages, but with them merely being a "secretary" it looks more warranted. It will be much more interesting to see what sentence the heads of the operation are going to receive, assuming they ever get caught.
We can’t be so sure that the secretary didn’t part of the scam, and 2.5 years is just not reasonable for a high amount like that. Well, people can’t escape this not unless they used the money they get to change their identities which is more possible to happen. Justice will prevail, even if it take too long but I believe that someone is working behind and the Karma will serve to those scammers.

To be fair, maybe he was just a nobody. Maybe he wasn't really part of their team but at least someone hired by the main culprits? He might be just their advertising member as the police said

Quote
That he played an active role by sending fake statements to victims.

if this guy is part of the team (as in a close friend or a family member), then he knows where the money is or at least where the others are heading. His involvement is still vague which is probably the reason why he was given a short sentence.
Pero dapat natin isure that our mentor have a lot of experiences and he is not part or belong to the self proclaimed gurus.

Maraming tao ang slow ang pag-aaral nila kapag hindi sila natuturuan in person or in 1 on 1. Sa mentors kasi, 1 on 1 ang usapan. Mas madali kang matututo kasi maaari mo silang tanongin on the spot, sila na din mag eexplain ng mga complicated terms na maaaring hindi mo maintindihan sa internet. Sila na din mag cocompile ng mga, learning materials or tips and tricks para madali mong maintindihan ang mga topics.

I know a lot of people who does this.

Though personally, mas gusto kong matuto ng walang personal mentors but mentors would still be a great help.
656  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver Says Twitter Blocking His Tweets About BCH on: July 20, 2020, 11:17:43 PM
Twitter is doing a great job by stopping this spammer scammer :-P

It should have been done long ago, and we would see less people to get scammed by his BCH shit.
That should have been done a couple of years ago when he was trying to dupe new users regarding the main chain but the question here is that is this the same scenario with all the cryptocurrency celebrities that they are not able to promote their coins or it is just the restriction for Roger Ver.
Shutting down his forum website and now he is restricted in social media, so which space does he have to share his views  Wink.

He still has facebook to use lol. He can spam whatever he wants there and hope some people might see it under a sea of spam. Though this might be just an error made by twitter as a security measure to prevent anything related to cryptocurrency because of the recent tweet scam.
657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin for Contract Killing" on: July 20, 2020, 11:01:24 PM
I'm not really surprised. In fact, I've seen a couple of movies where bitcoin was used for illegal purposes. I've also seen movies where bitcoin was also used in a legal context for payment for a service or product. At the end of the day, It just boils down to how each person decides how to use bitcoin's features. Even fiat currencies are used for similar purposes on daily basis. Talking about real life, Bitcoin might already being used for similar operations same way its used for making purchases and legit transactions.

True, and fiat money doesn't really differentiate from Bitcoin this way as fiat is also being used in illegal transactions and services way more than Bitcoin but in a much more difficult process. Bitcoin's purpose just depends on how people see it. Others see it as a business while others see it as real money worth holding and using to be used in the future when adoption grows significantly.
658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New normal world will make crypto better on: July 20, 2020, 12:55:17 AM
Popular Cryptos are doing better than traditional investment. Whole crypto market is doing improvement during covid pandemic where traditional businesses are suffering a lot. So large companies, banks found crypto as better field of investment and thereby most of the giants have separate arms to handle crypto assets. They are adding cryptos mainly btc, eth, defi into investment portfolio. Good days are coming if we survive through Covid19

You are too positive thinking dude.
consider the market situation during the pandemic to this day. the crypto market is also experiencing a huge impact. maybe not very visible because from the beginning the crypto market has collapsed, but when viewed in more detail covid19 makes the bearish trend longer than it should be.

I agree that we did got affected but the thing here is that Bitcoin is still staying strong and in fact, it rose from the recent dump of $4,000 (when pandemic kicks in the strongest and a scam) to above $9,000 which is great considering that Bitcoin is staying that price for weeks now. Once this pandemic ends and business starts blooming again, we might see Bitcoin bloom too as new possible investors might invest in Bitcoin.
659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum fees are becoming like Bitcoin fees on: July 20, 2020, 12:49:13 AM
Lately ETH fees have been skyrocketing and I have been paying 50 cents for a normal eth transaction and over $1 for contract functions. Used to be a few pennies at most to get your transaction confirmed quickly.

I've been experiencing a huge increase in transaction fees lately, i think there is congestion causing the network to clog. It might be due to the #DEFI wave that brought about many projects launching their products on eth network.... I heard that the blocksize also got increased by almost 10times and with ethereum 2.0 around the corner to launch, i believe we'll see an improvement real soon
Do you think that is one of the reasons? Huh Roll Eyes
In future the ETH coin fee is going to be so much high like last time and this time ETH coin touch the high value almost 10,000$ and  hope that we make good profit on that time through trading.

A lot of people believe that Ethereum 2.0 will solve this though. I don't know much about this but it seems that the new update that the people is waiting for will solve most of the scalability and security problems. To be honest, we really can't look forward to it when it comes to fees as this update will still happen in the far future, probably next year. We can only hope that the gas fees lower.
660  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Panahon Na Nga Ba Maging "Cashless Society" ang Pilipinas? on: July 19, 2020, 04:03:38 AM
Also, bago pa maging posible ang mga ganito, nagrerequire din ng isang sustained and reliable internet para continuous ang cashless transactions.
which is also another problem to us, alam naman din natin na bulok ang sistema ng majority ng ISP ng Pilipinas, though si Converge medyo nagkakaroon din ng konting problema lalo na limited pa lang ang mga lugar na meron sila,... isa ito sa mga dapat pagtuunan ng pansin kung gusto nating umunlad kahit may pandemiyang kinakaharap. Connections between us is really important.
Siguro factor dito yung pagiging bago nila at syempre yung limited coverage aspect nya. Pero to be honest, I find converge services better than PLDT.

No doubt na may mga locations lang na mabagal at mabilis ang internet pero the price is the same lang no matter the speed.
