641  Other / Meta / Re: What actually goes in the 'Marketplace' forum? on: May 28, 2014, 11:47:34 AM
Also, I want to create a thread linking to all of my listings on the marketplace so I can put a link in my signature to it. 99% of the listings are physical goods, but there's one or two that are/will be digital.

If you're selling physical items you'd have to place your listings here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=51.0
Unless your selling computer hardware in which case it goes here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=75.0
For your digital stuff you can place it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=93.0

However, for the sake of simplicity if most of what you're selling is physical I would just stick in the Goods sub and all in a single thread. I doubt the mods are going to have a heart attack if you have a couple of digital  items in your mostly physical item sale. Plus it means less links in your sig - easier to advertise.
642  Other / Meta / Re: Can we Trust the Trust System ? on: May 28, 2014, 11:42:41 AM
IMHO the idea of "oh this person participated in a trade/whatever that involved me, let's put them onto DefaultTrust" is terrible. There are people who are trusted by people who have never even left trust on them. This inevitably means that those who have no idea how to use the system get put into a position of power in it.

I agree. I personally have issues with this. I see no reason why they can't simply get feedback for the trade rather than being put on the DefaultTrust list. There are a few (not to name names) that seem to have added every person they've ever done a deal with and all it leaves you with is a group of people who don't have feedback but have the power to change what is seen by most people who accept DefaultTrust. I'm not saying that some don't deserve to be there but I cannot believe that every single person on DT is there because they can be trusted rather than simply having completed deals.

That being said, I don't really have a solution to this problem. As it is now, the system makes sense and there really isn't a much better option.
643  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid for your signature from FXOpen. Weekly payouts. on: May 28, 2014, 11:31:18 AM
Reservation possible for Sr. and Hero Members only. Anyway, hope to see you among the participants. Feel free to join as soon as you can.

As a Sr. Member, I wish to reserve a place in this signature program. I will be willing to join this on the 1st of June (3 days from now) once I'm released from my current campaign.

Thanks.
644  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: antares owes me 1 btc on: May 28, 2014, 11:18:19 AM
@OP: Hero Member status is not an indication of trustworthiness, it's simply a reflection of how long has been around for and how active within that time period. While in general older users are more trustworthy, old accounts have been used in the past for long con scams. Try to find people with positive trust and preferably use escrow with everyone.

The best you can do is get someone on DefaultTrust to flag the account until this investigation has been resolved. If Antares doesn't respond then the feedback will be left rendering the account useless and helping to ensure no one else gets scammed.

Theymos generally doesn't give away IPs and even then IPs won't help you much if you've lost $500USD. The IP could be coming from a dynamic IP address so you probably wouldn't be able to track them down without a subpoena to the ISP. Even then the scammer may reside outside your country and mounting a small claims case might take a while. I'd advise you accept what happened and learn from it - you may get your coins back but don't get your hopes up.
645  Economy / Lending / Re: [REQ] 0.001 BTC loan, will repay 0.002 within 12 hours. on: May 28, 2014, 11:10:37 AM
Are you building fake trust with this?

I wouldn't think so (not with loans that size). Not to mention, nobody but an idiot would actually tell you yes so it doesn't actually help you figure it out either way. We'll see depending on whether he asks for bigger loans - generally trust scammers build up rep to scam large amounts.
646  Economy / Gambling / Re: 88BitcoinCasino presents – Become an investor! on: May 28, 2014, 11:08:34 AM
You'd have to tell us how many customers you're getting a month and what kind of profits have you attained in the past. Without this information, people aren't going to invest (especially in a new 'company' with a new user with no trust). Also do you have any way to verify the information you post?
647  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Which one is more secure online or offline wallet on: May 28, 2014, 06:08:00 AM
I think offline wallet is much more secure than online wallet. What do all of you think?

Depends on the extent at which you protect your stuff. If you have an encrypted paper wallet lying about in the open in your house then I'd say it would be more of a risk than having an encrypted version of your wallet in an online storage site with 2FA turned on. Theoretically, not having an online wallet is better - you have less attack vectors but realistically it's highly improbable someone will break into your Dropbox account steal your wallet and manage to decrypt it.
648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wordpress.com just deleted the Willy Report, evidence of Mt. Gox fraud on: May 28, 2014, 06:05:21 AM
Was WordPress.com's decision justified? Is there something they are trying to hide?

Well seeing as they haven't actually specified why the Willy report was taken down you can't really say it was or wasn't justified. If there is nothing else at play - ie no real breakage of the Wordpress TOS then I would be suspecting some kind of foul play, but realistically I'm not convinced of an affiliation between Gox and Wordpress. Much more likely something went wrong and they took it down.
649  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Not receiving 2FA emails from Blockchain.info on: May 28, 2014, 05:57:34 AM
Are they having problems? Does it work for you?

No problems on my end. If you're still having problems trying clearing your cache and restarting your browser.
650  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is your latest streak? on: May 28, 2014, 05:42:13 AM
That's rather impressive - nice to see some people who betting with actual dough and getting some back from the bookies. Do you keep a long term record  or a thread somewhere? I'd be interested in seeing how long you've been ahead for and how much you are ahead by.
651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: May 28, 2014, 04:05:34 AM
How does that help out, though? If you lost 3x there and won the 4th, you'd have earned 6 but spent 7 (so you'd still be at a net loss). I'm not seeing how that's a good plan.

And it gets worse the higher your progression goes. As your final bet is simply the sum of the last two losing bets you'll only break even those two bets and any earlier ones will be losses. Last time I checked, interestingly enough flat betting was probably the best statistically (you don't risk bombing your whole stack unless your stack is tiny in comparison to your bets). But nonetheless you're still playing on variance and luck which means long term you lose.
652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin for safe keeping? on: May 28, 2014, 01:27:52 AM
Theoretically, using the same address over and over for transactions reduces their security. However in reality this shift is so insignificant that you don't need to worry about anyone compromising your private key as a result of it. Reusing an address is a security issue if you have a weak random number generator, as was an issue with the Android Bitcoin Wallet.

If you're interested in knowing why using the same random number in two messages is bad, you can read about ECDSA (ecliptic curve digital signature algorithm) here:

653  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 0.14 BTC Loan - Repaid in one week. on: May 28, 2014, 01:02:56 AM
What kind of interest rate would you be offering for this loan? And what terms should the loan period extend beyond agreed (ie additional fees)? I would probably be willing to do this if you can provide these details.
654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people have received random .00000001 transactions to their wallets? on: May 27, 2014, 10:12:56 AM
Sure puts everything into perspective doesn't it? I'd lick dog poop for 1 BTC. Heck, I'd probably suck a cock just for 1 BTC. Dammit those early adopters sure had it easy back then. Wish I had a time machine.

It was worth like 2c. Very few people (myself included) had the foresight to buy at that price and why would we? There certainly wasn't the same hype around Bitcoin then (among the tiny community there was a little) and no one truly expected (some might claim it) that we would ever reach a valuation like this.

Anyway, you still technically one of the earlier adopters if the expectation that it will reach global acceptance is to be believed. Doesn't hurt to get in now for a bit and see where it goes.
655  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.01 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE on: May 27, 2014, 09:53:46 AM
Private Internet Access.

Dont trust them 100% but you can trust any centralized host anyway. I am not too worried anyway, not got that much to hide.

They're pretty good from what I've seen. So far I haven't had downtime using them (been using them for about 4 months now) and I'm running my internet through it about 4-5 hours a day straight. Can't tell you much about whether they truly delete their records as they claim but if its any consolation they also host this server.
656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal could benefit greatly from providing a wallet service on: May 27, 2014, 09:44:36 AM
No thank you. I don't want PayPal near Bitcoins. They will fuck it up, I am 100% sure of that and nobody can convince me otherwise. They will freeze funds, lose coins, etc. Never ever would I use a Bitcoin service provided by BitcoinPayPal after they fucked so many legit Bitcoin resellers.

FTFY.

Anyway, I'm doubtful you'll have to worry about that eventuality. Having a Bitcoin wallet on PayPal doesn't exactly benefit PayPal, if they started to charge fees both consumers and merchants can use clients (like Electrum/Multibit/Qt) that don't actually cost you for using the client. And without fees all they are doing is competing with themselves and earning nothing from it. Unless they come up with a way to generate profits from running a Bitcoin wallet without actually charging fees it won't be implemented.
657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Five Biggest Threats Facing Bitcoin | CoinDesk | #btc #coindesk on: May 27, 2014, 09:37:44 AM
The problem is that there is little incentive to run a node anymore. That’s because powerful machines built specifically for bitcoin’s SHA-256 proof-of-work algorithm have changed its decentralized and more open nature.

It's not really hard for anyone to run a full node - all you need Bitcoin core, a copy of the blockchain, an internet connection and a willingness to run the client for as long as you want to. If you don't want to do that on your computer you could always just rent a VPS for like $20USD a month. There never was really an 'incentive' to run a node it's simply that the client keeps in line with the technical requirements outlined and is considered to be the 'flagship' client.

The ASICs used for mining are actually more powerful - the circuitry is simply designed with the task in mind for the repetitive processes involved with mining for Bitcoins. Used for anything else and they're pretty crappy.
658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin miner in Watch Dogs leak? on: May 26, 2014, 10:15:31 AM
Your topic title is a little misleading - there is no Bitcoin miner included in the actual retail Watch Dogs distribution. I'm hardly surprised that pirates would take advantage of other pirates for monetary gain. Anyway, I'm not too bothered about it (you could think of it as the cost of getting the game for free) I'm just gonna wait for it to go on sale @75% off on Steam eventually and buy it then. Still got a massive backlog of games to clear.
659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Play or Invest : 1% House Edge : Banter++ on: May 26, 2014, 10:11:00 AM
will you add a new design soon or something that will change the game

btw site is okey
design really bad!

Well the design is meant to be minimalistic. I mean it doesn't have all the fancy animations that the other casinos have but from a pure ease of use it's fine (everything is accessible within 1-2 clicks). The only thing that I've always found odd is the deposit button rather than just an address showing.

660  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: May 25, 2014, 06:50:26 AM
Same with me. Login is broken on IE11. Works with Chrome.

Logging in is working fine for me on Chrome. Broken in IE11 as well. The login button doesn't produce any new screen or redirect.
