Newbie question: how do you count the payout hehe and also how do you guys liquidate your mined BTC?

Been mining for a few days now hehe

Once you login to your account on kano.is the Rewards page shows you how much of each block found you earned as a reward, the payment page then shows you what payments were sent to your bitcoin wallet.

Make sure you have setup a bitcoin wallet to have payments sent to otherwise you won't get any. Lots of people forget to do that.

Also you won't get a reward until we find a block, and you won't get paid until that block has matured (thats after its had 100+ confirmations on the blockchain) even then you don't get anything into you wallet until the payment is confirmed either by us finding the next block or it being confirmed by other miners.

Also there is a ramp up and ramp down period called 5nd which currently takes about 21 days, so you won't get the full payment until that time, but if you stop mining for any reason it will keep paying out till it ramps down.

More details here: https://kano.is/index.php?k=payout
663  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Every which period of time bitmain release a new miner ? on: November 17, 2017, 12:06:39 PM
Or in answer to your actual question, its random. There is no set schedule for release of miners.

Thank you kano, you the man. Please update the status here once it is online, I will switch off my miner to let it rest for the moment. :-)

You don't have to turn anything off, however you should have a backup pool setup on your miners for any outages of your main pool of choice.
665  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 13 November Break Even Rates For: BitMain S9 / WhatsMiner M3 / Ebit E9 on: November 14, 2017, 09:15:06 AM
Another factor to consider is infrastructural investments which might need to be made.  If you're only planning on running 1 miner and you have a free circuit then great!  But if you try to add 2nd miner it's not going to happen @2000W so I hope you have a 2nd circuit free or you need to factor getting an electrician to install a new one for you.

Really, if you are currently considering buying any of the currently available 8+TH miners at home, think again. Especially @110V . They are too loud, too hot, too power-hungry to do so. They need to live in a hosting facility with the lowest power costs you can get.
666  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Rescuing a bricked T9 (and S9?) Control Board - HOWTO on: November 11, 2017, 10:59:45 AM
That's a very informative and useful post. Thank you

This isnt' really the thread for it but..  Tongue

I think support is just abandoned on this forum in the slush thread. I haven't personally had experience of it but there is a support link on the web site for feedback/questions.

Slush was the first pool I mined at with my little block erupters @333mhs but I haven't had a payout from there in 3 years.
668  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: November 05, 2017, 07:52:07 AM
They haven't been offering discounts on recent batches. But when they do they are listed on the product page and are the ones tiny:

Quote
For an order containing 50 or more units, a 0.5% discount will be offered;

For an order containing 200 or more units, a 1.5% discount will be offered;

For an order containing 500 or more units, a 3% discount will be offered.

OK I think I see whats going on here.

If you look at this block, mined by BTC.COM here: https://btc.com/0000000000000000001bc14d31cd78cba9af69b4ef9af8fac9f3aabb260658de

You can see the size is over a Meg but the stripped size is under.

Same for the raw data for the last KanoPool block here: https://btc.com/0000000000000000001e04433a329abe9308ce304f64da81e8ec1c9d3522308b

So this last block (492,961), why is the size 998,181kb while most of the previous blocks were over 1MB and had more transaction fees. I have noticed most other miners are minting blocks over 1MB and wanted to see if Kano is limited.

492,963   BTC.com   1,047,123   14.98159913 BTC   right now   0000000000000000001bc14d31cd78cba9af69b4ef9af8fac9f3aabb260658de   NYA

492,961   KanoPool   998,181   14.89274489 BTC   17 minutes ago   00000000000000000087d0ce2bf34d1d79e1c8f063e59aee4cbe14bc3786aa45

As others have stated, it's because the block was 1 minute after the prior one.  "short" blocks tend to have less transaction fees.

Have a look at some of the prior blocks, referencing the block history on Kano's website, and you'll see the "longer" blocks tend to be very "fat" with transaction fees.

M

EDIT: like the most recent one for 14.89274489.  That's 2.39274489 BTC in fees.

No what they are saying, and if you check blockexplorer you can scroll back through the history of every block we have found, that none of the blocks are over 988.01kb in size.

I guess the question they are asking is what are these >1MB blocks and how come we aren't mining any when other pools are?

However, I don't see these big >1MB blocks on blockexplorer as they are seeing them. https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/blocks/2

Plus the distributor is going to have to buy the parts from China, again the costs savings will be negligable, however yes, I agree if the distributor sets up a good shop for repairs then the downtime and loss of income will be significantly lower.

As for shipping from Minerwarez to UK and then from UK to Bulgaria and avoiding VAT, I think you were just lucky. Normally anything going into the UK will be subject to 20% VAT unless you lied on the invoice. Risky.
673  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: November 03, 2017, 11:02:59 AM
It would be great if a European distributor - import duties are absolutely crippling!

Unless the new self-courier service from minerwarez has some scope to "ease" the import tax value

What are you talking about?

There are no import duties for EU, just Vat and the usual shippers handling fees. Any European distributor will have to still pay VAT on imports and will just pass it on and add it to the price.

The only way to mine without VAT is nog to Import Chinese miners Into the EU. Have them shipped to a hosting company in the US or China or Iceland or just anywhere without VAT on imports.

"Just" VAT is 20% - $180 per miner! + there is an import duty, albeit ~3-5% (can't remember which one).

I might actually have a look into hosting companies, although i don't know much about it so i'll have a read up  Grin

That's not import duty that's just the handling fees from the carrier. There should be no import duties unless the sender screwed up the paperwork. I know how much UK VAT is (its actually different in different EU countries)

The point I was trying to make is that a reseller will still have to pay the VAT and then will also have to charge VAT when selling within the EU, plus they will add a markup to cover their own costs of stocking, staffing and supporting the business, they will also have to make enough to cover their Corporation tax they pay to the local goverment on their profits, so a local EU distributor will do nothing for the prices here and you will probably end up paying a lot more than if you purchased direct.

We're up over 100% again right, just judging off the blocks page on kano.is

How about a goddess first-class unlimited

Did you even bother reading the thread?
678  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is Syan a real deal? on: October 30, 2017, 10:12:58 AM
Exactly, I can understand newbie spam accounts filling the thread up with bullshit speculation, but I can't understand someone like leo doing it.

Really all posts should be based from an EXTREME negative perspective on this scam, there is no wriggle room or perhaps or maybe, its just a bullshit scam and should be approached from that angle.

Anyone else here of course if you have time to do it and can, please check your miners.
What I'm looking for is a miner with a "Best Share" above Network Difficulty (1196792694098.793)
Any shares found that should be blocks, I can convert the "Best Share" share difficulty into a block hash and check it matches one of the blocks on the pool.
There aren't hundreds of blocks in the last month, so it's not hard to check.

Nothing that high that I can see.
