http://cryptosource.org/what-is-nxt-community/
read the last part of my nxtmyths 1st chapter

Q: Why was the initial funding cancelled suddenly with few people?

A: I wanted Nxt to be launched by the community, not by a single person. Success of Nxt is supposed to be achieved by work of a LOT of PEOPLE.

His answer is not convincing.

This is the same bullshit like "he wanted 21BTC to get invested so he lost his chance in the IPO".
If he wanted a lot of people to start Nxt with, he hadn´t stop the IPO so suddenly.

But that is history. Now we should focus on more important things, because that´s the future.
662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 27, 2014, 09:27:24 AM
It absolutely doesn´t matter if he has a stake or not. We need a clear project plan to get our resources managed in the most appropriate way.
For that, we need information. If BCNext is not going to lead us and manage his baby, then we will need to take over. Get a full-time project manager on top of this and do it ourself.
But FFS, we need transparency and information about what is going on behind the curtains.

It is a bit annoying that you are now talking about why BCNext wanted to have only 21 BTC invested, instead of talking about the future work we have to put in this project.
But I might be wrong setting this as highest priority. Maybe it is the hottest topic indeed, to clarify if BCNext is in simbolism or not...

Ok, this sounds like bullshit to me, sorry.
Then he should make his plan public so we (who invested money and have something to loose) can take over now.

This is what I know. Feel free to ignore it.

Thank you for the information. It could be true, but that doesn´t really matter now.

    So this is priority:

    • get a curve/sign implementation audit and a crypto audit. guys, where are we with that?
    • try to summarize all we know about TF and discuss how to make it better
    • finish the whitepaper

Point 1 DEFINITELY needs to be finished ASAP.

Point 3 is linked to point 2 ...so Point 3 might take a few months to get finalized.[/list]

Is anyone working on the whitepaper?
What do we need in order to get it ready in 2 weeks?

We have no idea? Salsacz? AFAIK you took a great part in taking the whirepaper to this stage where it is now.
What kind of resources do you need to proceed?
666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 27, 2014, 09:11:41 AM
Can we get rid of the hints, please?
If it is not possible, then BCNext should take his coins, convert it to FIAT and pay for a project manager to manage Nxt till there are no more "unknown issues" and the community can take over.

The problem is that BCNext lost his chance to invest into Nxt. He wanted to have exactly 21 BTC invested but the very last guy who sent 1 BTC right before the funding was over ruined the plan...

Ok, this sounds like bullshit to me, sorry.
Then he should make his plan public so we (who invested money and have something to loose) can take over now.

I wondered what happened to NXT on Mintpal...

Thought they were going to add it today.

Why is there no dedicated, knowledgeable, person in the next community who handles all this exchange stuff?
For all I care: pay that person a ongoing bounty to handle this!

i hope ive made it clear that any exchange can consult with me for free on NRS/NXT design/operation for integration into their exchange.
    Okay, cool!

Is there someone else in here who is able and willing to help exchanges to integrate Nxt?
    wesleyh? nexern? CfB?

Let´s get a list together with skillsets and availability to see whom we can rely on and rech out to if we need some help.
668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 27, 2014, 08:59:05 AM
    Revealed yet?

No, but 2nd part of the plan contains a hint. Read about transparency.

Okay - so with TF apparently an unknown quantity that may or may not appear in the future I am now prepared to make a recommendation of a different way that we could tackle preventing people "using what TF we have" in order to "game the system" (actually similar to something I had suggested earlier on before I did some analysis).

As I have been unable to work out a way to get better results by adding some sort of simulated "punishment" what is most relevant is that (my admittedly far from perfect) simulator showed that 6 small grouped accounts didn't manage to get more than 2 consecutive blocks over 10 years.

So how could we take advantage of this idea and at the same time stop the "whales from gaming"?

I think the simplest and probably most salable idea is our that the future will not be centralised.

Basically if we limit the effective forging *power* of any pool or individual to a maximum allowable percentage (regardless of actual NXT balance) then we will force people to split up their hoards into small chunks managed by separate pools.

CfB, or anyone else who knows how TF works: is this a solution? If not: Can we elaborate this further to get to a solution? What do we need to change for this to work?

I thought TF would be fully implemented by April.  What should we do to help?

Start with the analysis of the code that we already have and do some improvements to forging. For example, try to get how 90% defence would work (if it works at all).

I am not capable of this, as I am not smart enough, but am willing to donate to a fund to pay for someone (or a group of people) to do it.
Is anyone ready to manage this? I am working 60 hours a week (till Nxt´s price will reach $1) so I don´t have the time for this, but as I see, without this, all the marketing work (including the upvotes and the efforts to put Nxt on more exchanges) are useless.

I still would like to see a detailed roadmap of functions to get implemented till April.

I suggest to pay a for project manager to manage Nxt for the next 6 months to avoid double-spending resources and burning resources on functions that are not needed.
673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 27, 2014, 08:37:00 AM
        Is TF fully implemented?

It's not. And won't be implemented by April, so u should do something if u don't want to live with half-implemented TF.

Ok, this is new to me. AFAIK it was planned to get implemented by April. That´s what we were waiting for. Now, 1 month left till April you tell us, that it won´t?

That is the missing transparency I was talking about one post earlier...
674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 27, 2014, 08:28:03 AM

With respect: this is a glib, bullshit answer, and you can't prove the "most of us" part any more than you can prove the "BCNext did math analysis" part.

Three months in and we have no Whitepaper, no documentation of algorithms, and no modelling or statistical analysis.

The greatest irony of the great decentralized Nxt Ecosystem is that its core is centralized in an opaque, anonymous identity who only communicates to the world through a Belarusan Java programmer on contract.

One day soon, Nxt will be called out for this. It is Nxt's biggest flaw.

He found the fatal flaw and he is right.

BCNext likes the path Satoshi chose... Probably he'll leave the project in a couple of months staying anonymous forever
(I would do the same thing btw.)

As for the documentation, algos, etc., I don't agree: NXT is already open sourced enough,... maybe BCNext gives us more features, maybe not...

The real problem is the lack of guys that can understand the code, not just java syntax but the crypto currency specific voodoo

We need to recruit successors - we need young BCNexts, little Come-from-Beyonds (figuratively speaking of course  Grin)

And we need whales that give them enough incentives (=payments) to develop full-time.

To me thats the biggest flaw!

No, like I said the last time when I brought this up: BCNext himself is responsible for the fact that the community has grown so dependent on him.
With all these plans that are to be rolled out etc. people just become apathic and wait for him and his developers to do everything.
He should've made a official statement regarding NXT now being in the hands of it's users a long time ago.

Thankfully Klee and a few other founders are still founding projects that keep NXT going, but we still need clarification on what sort of developers we are missing. How far along the features have come etc.

Wit due respect, I can´t understand why CfB and BCNext are waiting for the community to take leadership when "the big plan" is still secret. How do you want to have leaders in the community when they don´t know under what circumstances they have to lead the community as it can be, that the next part of "the big plan" makes all the efforts completely useless.

        What I think:
        a) BCNext (or CfB) should make a detailed, public roadmap, to see what is planned for the next few weeks, so we can arrange our resources to focus on things that are not coveed by the core developers.
        b) more transparency is needed. The code is good, but even people with math skills are struggling understand how forging works.
        c) one of the core developers should step up and attend conferences. It is not about decentralization hiding behind the code and letting others figure out how the core functions are working, but it is opacity that we have to fight now. I wouldn´t invest in Nxt now (if I didn´t do it earlier), to be honest, as I don´t see where it is heading and who is sitting in the driver´s seat.

Has anyone seen this yet? If any of you are like me, the rest of bitcointalk pretty much gets ignored simply because this thread is a time drain.

I don't like seeing much about other cryptos here unless it's relevant to Nxt. XCP has been mentioned here more than a few times. It appears they had a major attack involving 150 BTC:

        Quote
As many of you know, about a week ago, a hacker found a major security hole in the Counterparty protocol that enabled him to send XCP from anyone's address. He used this to send 35,000 XCP from the Poloniex wallet to himself, which he then deposited into his own Poloniex account. He then sold the XCP for 150 BTC and withdrew 115 BTC. Following that, he explained the security hole and offered to return the BTC. He has still not returned the BTC, but my correspondence with him is ongoing.

Users have asked to see the correspondence and the Counterparty developers have all given the OK on publishing it, so here it is: https://poloniex.com/correspondence.pdf

There was more to his message from today, which I have not included because it arrived after the developers gave the OK.

        https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=490025.0

Poloniex was hacked using a bug in XCP, which is solved by now.

        wow,so generous.

This needs more media coverage. Anyone has account with http://service.prweb.com/ ?
I am on it, already submitted it to few sites. I am also registered at prweb, but they want $99-499 for one news release, bastards

What about psybits? He also has a lot of connections. AFAIK he is running a PR office. You should talk to him.

Yeah, I´ll buy a lot of Nxt and then...

        Participate in NOX?

Emule might just participate in NOX.

        MtNOX, where your money disappears.

I am ready to talk about buying a bigger stake.

Do you mean you would buy some for me?     Shocked Kiss Grin

Yeah, I´ll buy a lot of Nxt and then...

679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 26, 2014, 01:51:44 PM

They can start PMing people from here who are active and faithful to NXT and offer them bulk quantities in discount prices!

If I had 100M nxt I would probably do this for at least 20-30M nxt.

And no one needs to know it (to affect the market).

        +1

Just the thought of this taking place while I have BTC locked in various IPOs...  is making me want to puke from the sense of agony!    Cry

I am ready to talk about buying a bigger stake.
680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 26, 2014, 01:10:35 PM

Greed could be the fatal flaw, if that 50M accounts persist to hoard we are all doomed, simply because that accounts don’t need a higher price to sell, they get rich anyway, no matter what the price is.

I wish we could shot them accounts down coz they only make us look bad and people who own them are from the greediest people ever seen, they hurt nxt and will destroy it.

How rich do you want to be 1M, 10M, 50M, it’s just disgusting when you think of it.

Honestly: I couldn’t care less if NXT was worth 0, just for the fun them accounts have also 0.

Who knows, maybe a good clone will outlive NXT and them 50M accounts if they don’t start spreading the wealth.

Let's send some arbitrary messages to those accounts asking them to help out!

We already did. I think they dont even know how it works and they don't even give a damn how it works to.

Well...treat them like lostNxts (blackNxt, deadNxt or whatever they are called now).
Maybe the owner of the account already died. Or is on coma and doen´t care about it. I am pretty sure that they´d already sold some of them if they were alive Smiley
