Such a strategy also occurs in my country, where the government provides subsidies to the community. while the tax at the beginning of covid did not seem to be charged, but over time, the government seemed to be looking for a source of funding from taxes where entrepreneurs reviewed their taxation, until there were findings and billed

There is not even a single sector in the economy, which is not impacted by the downturn due to COVID 19. So the government needs to be careful. They can't force the embattled businesses to pay ever increasing taxes. Already a large number of small and medium sizes are bankrupt. In my area, almost 75% of the restaurants have shut down their operations. Same is the case with hotels and lodges. Other businesses are also not doing good. Initially, it was expected that the pandemic would be contained in a couple of months at the most. But now it has already been two years.

Didn't watch it either, all the games are just way too late for me (so kind of frustrating for all these internationals halfway round the globe!).

Here in India, matches are scheduled at 12:30 am - 2:30 am. I watched the first semi-final between Spain and Italy, but then it was impossible to watch the second one between England and Denmark, since it happened the very next day. My office work starts at 9am, so I need to get up by around 7:30am-8:00 am, which is not possible if I watch these matches. Now they have scheduled the next match on Sunday, which is again a very poor decision. Ideally they should have scheduled it on Saturday.

Bangladesh lost 8 wickets for 270 runs. Mahmudullah and Taskin Ahmed have a remarkable partnership of 134 runs. They are still at the crease. Mahmudullah has scored a century and Taskin is unbeaten on his career-best 52. Bangladesh scored 407 runs. I never thought they would be able to score more than 400.

Form a score of 132/6, they managed to get to 416/8. The 9th wicket partnership between Taskin Ahmed and Mahmudullah has added 146 runs till now. I would primarily blame poor captaincy from Zimbabwe. After they got the 6th wicket, rather than keeping the pressure Brendan Taylor just released it by bringing in the spinners. Else they would have got Bangladesh all out for less than 200. Now it looks as if Bangladesh may manage a total of above 500. Really poor performance from the Zimbabwe bowlers, after getting such a great start.

Can't wait for the eng-den game.  Think I'm going to throw a punt on Denmark to win.  Would love to see them go into the finals against Italy would be a fun game to watch.

LOL.. it amazes me that there still exists people who even think that there is a possibility of Danish win. Odds look very attractive for Denmark, and actually in such cases I would have made a bet in favor of them. But I can't see even a 1% chance for such an outcome. There would have been still a chance, if the match was taking place at some stadium other than The Wembley. And trust me, odds are not high enough to take such a huge risk. The sportsbooks I have checked have given +450 for Denmark. Simply not enough.
665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why women are the minority in crypto land? on: July 07, 2021, 04:51:43 PM
Softness is a description of traditional women and belongs to older generations, this is the time of modernity, women's personalities have changed very strongly and positively, even I suspect that they have more influence than men, maybe this is still a little but gradually, such a personality will exist a lot in future generations. Their minority in crypto belongs to only one reason is that they don't approach the field too much, it's not their preference, their main trend is the aesthetic angle.

My take on this is a bit different. You can argue that women are equal in men, as far as the skills are taken in to account. That may be true. But genetics mean that men have an advantage over women in many of the fields, and similarly women have an advantage in some other domains. One of the disadvantages with cryptocurrency is that it needs some amount of technical knowledge. Since the vast majority of the coders and programmers are men, they have a definite advantage in this domain (although the situation may change in the future).
666  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is cryptocurrency bullish in the long-term on: July 07, 2021, 04:36:42 PM
Hodling is the best way to earn more money, if you want to have a good future in life then you hold, remember what CZ quotation is? "You can be rich if you can't hold". Holding bitcoin for the long term is such a good idea, as bitcoin's value increases year by year, this current price of bitcoin is good because if we reach the ATH once again you will have X2 from it.

The big question is how long you need to hold. I am holding most of my coins for the last 5 years or so. And I know a few guys who are holding the coins for 9-10 years now. In the investment circles, it is not unusual to hold your coins for that long (>10 years). But most of these cases involve assets such as gold, which have very low volatility. Cryptocurrency is one of the most volatile assets you can invest in, and not everyone will be in favor of very long term holding (especially with altcoins such as Cardano and BNB).
667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to distribute 21 million Bitcoins for a population of 7.8 billion? on: July 07, 2021, 04:24:14 PM
The question itself is wrong. Bitcoin is almost infinitely divisible, unlike fiat currencies such as the US Dollar. For example each USD is divided in to 100 cents. However, each Bitcoin is divided in to 100 million Satoshis. So rather than saying that we have 21 million coins for 8 billion people, we can also claim that there are 2.1 quadrillion Satoshis, available for 7.8 billion individuals. And that comes to around 262,500 Satoshis per capita. That sounds a lot better, right? In other words, around 1 million Satoshis per family.
668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin, Dogecoin Gain After Musk's Tweets, But Will There Be Another Bull Run? on: July 07, 2021, 04:12:05 PM
If Bitcoin is going up, then I can assure you that it is not as a result of Elon's tweets. Personally, I was expecting a big bull run as a result of El Salvador's announcement making BTC as the legal tender, but that never happened. This reminds me of what happened in 2020 May, when we had the 3rd block reward halving. Everyone was expecting a big spike, but that occurred only after many months when PayPal made the big announcement. Perhaps the same might happen this time as well. The market needs another trigger, I guess.
669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 07, 2021, 04:00:06 PM
Looking after scorecard it seems like both team fought well here. 2 early wickets, followed by 2 small valuable partnership and middle order collapse, after all this drama lower middle order producing 100+ run partnership. Damn seems like a perfect script in test cricket but sadly we're not going to hear much about it, as not enough eyeballs.

LOL.. scorecard doesn't tell the whole story, I am afraid. Zimbabwe got such a great start, but then they wasted it. At one point, Bangladesh was down to 132/6, but then Brendan Taylor went for the spin of Milton Shumba rather than cleaning up the lower order and tail using Blessing Muzarabani. That allowed Liton Das and Mahmudullah to build such a big partnership. And when Muzarabani came back in to the attack, it was too late. The 7th wicket partnership added a total of 138 runs. Brendan Taylor could have used Tiripano and Muzarabani a bit more.

^^^ I don't live in Europe, and therefore I don't know whether your claims are true or not. But governments in those countries which have approved Sputnik for emergency usage have released the data on its efficacy. Here is a study from the Arab country of Bahrain:

https://www.aninews.in/news/world/asia/sputnik-v-demonstrates-943-pc-efficacy-during-vaccination-campaign-in-bahrain20210610175038/

This particular study claims that Sputnik V has a real life efficiency of 94.3% (almost same as Pfizer and Moderna). The data comes from Bahrain's Ministry of Health. The neighboring country of UAE has released data which shows that Sputnik V is 97.8% efficient in preventing COVID 19. The link here:

https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/healthcare/biotech/healthcare/sputnik-v-records-97-8-efficacy-against-covid-19-in-uae-fully-effective-against-severe-cases/articleshow/83948075.cms?from=mdr
671  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the world be without poverty on: July 07, 2021, 02:19:28 PM
I understand your idea, and it sounds quite humane. But there are nuances here.
For example, when it was such a country in the USSR. The ruling party told everyone that it was building a humane, balanced socialist society. Some of the actions were similar to what you are proposing. BUT. There was no unemployment in the country, but 80% of the population did not receive income, but a handout. Medicine was free, but its effectiveness was extremely low, life expectancy lagged noticeably behind European. The overall quality of life was very low, and instead of growth, we got poverty spread across the country. It turns out that the system works either with stratification (rich, middle class, poor) or everything is mixed, and the mixture tends to deteriorate in quality. Conclusion - basic social protection should be for the poor, low-income, incapacitated. Most likely it should be a state fund and a separate tax. But this does not mean that it is necessary to reduce the standard of living or the possibilities of others, through an attempt to level the standard of living for everyone. And we must understand that the ideal balance is possible only in rich countries with stable economies.

Socialism works for a short period of time, when the wealth from the upper class is redistributed among the poor. But once this phase is over, the government needs to loot the middle class and the poor to manage the economy of the country. And this has repeated almost in every country where socialists came to power - Cuba, North Korea, USSR, Cambodia, Venezuela.etc. It can be argued that there were no poor people in the USSR. But the so called "middle class" in the USSR had a worse living standard than the "poor" in western nations such as the US and UK.

Coming back to  Eng vs Pak series, Pakistani team is not weak team like SL and they got excellent record and very competitive in English condition but again we are talking about Pakistan here so nothing is sure as they're are unpredictable.

LOL.. it's true. Pakistan is like the most unpredictable team in international cricket. On their day, they will be able to beat teams such as India and Australia. And when they are not in form, they will go down to teams like Ireland and Netherlands. On top of that, they remain heavily overdependent on Babar Azam as far as batting is concerned. They're a lot more stable as far as pace bowling is concerned. Fast bowlers such as Shaheen Afridi are capable of handling the pressure during tough situations. Spin bowling is still a concern, though.
673  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will China's crackdown on Bitcoin cause Bitcoin to become worthless? on: July 07, 2021, 11:32:09 AM
If your argument was true, even if we lost 54% from the peak of hash power, why didn't anyone attack Bitcoin one year ago? Or two years ago? Or three years ago? Or... you get the point.

Even a 54% drop in hash power doesn't lead to a vulnerable network. I am also sure that it wouldn't go unnoticed if one bank starts to acquire all the equipment that is now supposed to be idle because of the Chinese mining ban. That ban also doesn't mean that those businesses leave the mining industry, they might rather leave the country. I doubt we will see a successful attack ever given the current market conditions like required hardware and electricity.

For how long, the attackers need to maintain 51% dominance in mining hash rate, in order to pull off such an attack? Given the current conditions, it will be extremely difficult for any new entity to garner even 10% of the hash rate. 51% is a long way away. And even in case they somehow manage to hit the 51% level, the other miners are not going to sit idle. They will immediately increase their hashpower (by diverting some of the hashpower from those who are currently mining altcoins). That's why I am curious about the duration. For how long they need to maintain this >51% level?

Does anyone following BANvsZIM test match? Bangladesh lost their first three wickets in the first session. A perfect start for Zimbabwe, let's see if Bangladesh recover after their batting collapse in the first session. Bangladesh three young star gone and as usual now the responsibility to their senior cricketers.

Bangladesh really looking pathetic out there. I am watching live on Fancode (since none of the TV channels are covering this match here in India). I was expecting a lot from Bangladesh, because Shakib Al Hasan is playing for them. But he got out for just 3 runs. Blessing Muzarabani was exceptional, as usual. But the other Zimbabwe players also gave him a lot of support, especially Victor Nyauchi and Richard Ngarava. It is always nice to see the young inexperienced Zimbabwe side preforming so well.
675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $WHACKD - RIP John McAfee on: July 06, 2021, 05:12:10 PM
It seems that the speculation regarding falsification of McAfee's death does not have strong evidence and could be just a hoax. Because, in an article I read some time ago, McAfee's autopsy confirmed that he died by suicide. So, there seems to be no way to faked his death. do you think he will pay off the police, autopsy officers and many others involved in this case?

The first time someone in cryptocurrency sector was accused of faking his death was in the case of Gerald Cotten (CEO of QuadrigaCX). In his case, at least I could say that there was a 1% chance of that happening. He was just 30 years old, healthy and he "died" all of a sudden while visiting India. But what are the chances that John McAfee would be able to pull out something similar, that too in a European country? And all that just a few hours before he was supposed to be deported to the United States. I would say that it sounds impossible.
676  Economy / Economics / Re: Die today, Die tommorrow, the same dying! still get vaccinated! on: July 06, 2021, 04:57:10 PM
I mean, I am not an asshole that's going to be carried by herd immunity, I want to be part of herd immunity so I am going to get vaccinated. Also, your depressing title is a bullshit way of looking at life, if you are going to die anyway, at least try more things while you are still alive.

Those who are able to get vaccinated must do so, because there are certain group of people who can't get the vaccine (due to medical conditions). If they catch the infection, then it can lead to hospitalization and even death. And as per estimates, herd immunity can be achieved only if 75% of the population gets fully vaccinated against COVID. If certain sections are staying away as a result of propaganda, then it will be hard for the authorities to achieve this figure. And in the end, the groups which are having medical conditions will be the worst affected.
677  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: July 06, 2021, 04:45:52 PM
Basically, the vaccine is not a guarantee to be free from this virus.
~

Yes and no. If you are taking a vaccine that is having an efficacy of 95%, then there is still a 5% chance (compared to those who are unvaccinated) that you will get infected. But the most effective vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, Sputnik, Janssen.etc) have almost 100% guarantee that even if you are infected, you will not require hospitalization. So it offers almost 100% protection from death. Now you can decide whether you want to take the 100% chance of getting infected, or 5% chance of getting a mild infection.
678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Never sell your Bitcoin? on: July 06, 2021, 01:44:35 PM
Well, the thing here is, I really do not care how others would deal with their Bitcoins. If they HODL it then go ahead, let them be. I will not interfere nor tell them not to do it. Let them sell it, let them hold it, let them give it away to their girlfriends. You should not be forcing your opinions to the others if that is what they want and if that is what they need to do with their Bitcoins, after all of the factors that they can consider, it gave them that decision to do so on their coins then by all means.

Most of those advocating for HODL doesn't really care about the other users. They are just afraid that if a lot of the users sell their coins, then the exchange rates may fall. And the same people who are advocating for HODL will dump their coins at the first opportunity, if there is a need. Personally I would go for an ideal mix of profit booking and long term holding. There needs to be a good balance between these two. In such cases, you will not incur big losses if Bitcoin suddenly becomes worthless, and at the same time you will be left with enough coins in case Bitcoin appreciates by 10x or 20x in the future.
679  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-07-02 CNBC - Bitcoin mining consumed 56% green energy in June quarter on: July 06, 2021, 01:28:25 PM
^^^ It is the duty of the government to take care of global warming. Bitcoin miners are not producing any electricity on their own, and they are sourcing it from other suppliers. If the government is keen to avoid global warming, then they should shut down all the thermal powerplants and get the electricity from nuclear or hydro power plants. And I don't think that the miners will have any issue, if the government tells them that from tomorrow they will be receiving nuclear energy instead of thermal energy. And regarding Elon Musk, I don't know why so many people here give significance to that retard. He may be a giant in the automobile sector, but when it comes to the cryptocurrency, he is a big zero.
680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Bitcoin? Will Bitcoin be traded in all countries in 2025? on: July 06, 2021, 01:16:19 PM
4 years from now? I don't think so! Bitcoin is not yet fully adopted everywhere and other countries has a plan either legalize or ban it.  4 years  is just a short time, but I believe everything is possible in bitcoin if the adoption continue to increase.

Within the next 4-years, we will get to know whether the governments are going to tolerate the increasing usage of cryptocurrency or not. Some of the regimes (such as United States and China) have moved towards a more hostile stance on cryptocurrency. But some others (such as Japan, Russia and El Salvador) have taken a more conciliatory stance. Now we need to see which of these two camps will get the upper hand. US seems to be having the advantage nowadays. Recently they managed to garner widespread support for their proposal for 15% minimum corporate tax.
