Oh man I really need to check that promo out, just need to nudge good ol' Steve to help me see it on my account (kindly, sir?).
Edit: I see it now!

Too bad this one didn't help me on my way, though I suppose freebets placed days before the promo started wouldn't have counted, huh?

Heh. If we needed reminders of what Spursy means, thus first half says it all. Pretty glad the question here had nothing to do with 1x2 as would never have imagined a first half where Spurs failed to register a single shot on goal while Brighton had six. 2more goals, please! Don't care who.

Too bad for my generation -- had a really tough time early in my career and even recently, competing with a formally educated workforce -- partly why I ended up freelancing (and thanks to crypto companies also not looking for degrees.

But yes, I'm of the opinion Bitcoin won't necessarily pan out for me personally. I knew this even in 2016 when I started building a nest egg, that it'd be for whoever I'd be leaving behind. DCA it to death (literally) and hope it works out in the same trajectory of the past 7 years for the ones living after me.

These last few rounds have been killing me - I can't get anything right. I've got 6 points in GW18 and am on 6 points so far in GW19.
Festive season's usually the worst part for me, but this time it's been really bad.

Luckily it's the same for most, but I've steadily been losing 2-3 points per round - which accumulates quite quickly.

I love this part of the season football-wise, but it's always horrible for my betting Grin

I've been steadily losing my grip on football/EPL betting since around the end of 2021. Nothing too bad, probably even in modest profit taking into account pool winnings etc but if I were betting purely on a fiat bookie I'd be running some red pages by now.

I know it's partially because I'm not giving enough attention to analysis, but objectively, I doubt I'd have done much different so I'm just putting it down to bad decisions.

I haven't played at FJ for a long time, I joined the Xmas Collector tournament and lucky I finished 2nd place

Well done! 2nd place and a tidy sum to end the year is nothing to be sniffed at. It's not every day that I come across a gambler I don't recognise on this forum, but I guess you're generally a casino player rather than sports? We should look you up on tourneys Wink You're not a Majestic Seven player?

Speaking of... Hwang is a must have for Wolves, huh?

Well said! I think Juve wins this comfortably, but I won't be upset if Mou's players find out (again) how to score. But the usual suspects of Mila, Napoli, Roma, Atalanta appear to have lost their way.

I'm not completely out of pools in EPL and La Liga but yes, Serie A looks my best bet to take something home. I'm predicting low scoring and clean sheets a lot this season, seems to be working out.
688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +93999 units on: December 27, 2023, 04:21:03 PM
It's post-Christmas and we arrive at a weird intersection of reality where Everton are not even 6/1 to beat City -- ordinarily I say poor value but the Toffees are actually playing decent football, with "us against the world" mentality spurring them thanks to the 10-point deduction. But to mix things up, I'm tagging on Fiorentina to get decent odds.

100 units at Sportsbet on Everton and Fiorentina to win @13.93. Other odds: 12.80
Units advantage: 113
Bet ID: 658c317b44118800014d9243

Running advantage after 51 bets: +5279 (+113)
All-time cumulative: +95,139
Running units after 50 bets (3W|47L): -2812 (-100)

I won't be surprised if I relegate.

pretty sure you would not relegate
it is a long season, and few bad weeks does call for an alarm, but still plenty of time to overturn all

I was in good form in first part, but three loses in a row (one in a cup) set me down from first place, but will try to do better in following rounds, festive season obviously got better of me

I'm the type of manager who wants my players to prove me wrong. Leicester win and Villa win were the right calls, the results just went in the wrong direction. Thankfully most of us thought the same so we're even Stephens...

agree here, but thought that draw is best what United as underdog can achieve
@buwaytress, you had a point in your pocket, but then Garnacho decided to give it back to me, and Hojlund in the end spoiled the fun, gave win to United, and both of us staying pointless

now we are heading to other fixtures, Brazil, Arsenal and Leeds are what we differ at

Yeah, best possible outcome in worst circumstances. I'm still not sure even after a lot of thinking what to expect so it's down to coinflips as usual. Doubt we draw this, but hey, what do we know?
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether minted more USDT. on: December 27, 2023, 02:05:18 PM
Didn't think they'd go shell out one big B, think it's the largest they have done. Makes one wonder what deal they have in place with the US to have satisfied Treasury while not needing transparency with the rest.

Never keen on holding Tether, ironic that Bitcoin's rise benefits a "stable" coin.
691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 27, 2023, 11:29:55 AM
Boxing day is up next. This is the round that usually is crazy with goals and some insane results. I wonder what we can expect from it now. I went like i always do but i think that something insane will happen in this round. Hopefully i finally got some good results because last two rounds just killed me.

Villa killed me. Not for the first time, and usually in a painful way. Gerrard's 3-2 capitulation to City on final day is of course worse than last night's 3-2, funny it was after leading 2-0, both to Manchester clubs.

Need to start taking Newcastle less seriously too, it would seem.

Belated Christmas cheer and season's greetings to my Sportsbet friends far and near, tiny and large, degenerate and regular. I'm still awake, and desperately need to fall asleep soon as Boxing Day is not a thing here.

Gamble foolishly, live wisely, friends (and Steve)! You know it's a great thread when posters are lining up to comment on the great shit in here Wink

The Division 1 table is the real definition of the wild wide west, you all take a look at the big and household names of thid forum gambling all battling it at the bottom of the pile. from Buwaytress, Jeremypwr, Slaman29 and LTU.

Proof we don't know what we're doing, huh? Speaking for myself anyway! Div3 guys, though.

Damn, man. This league is killing me.
I have 36 correct picks, that's the 4th result in the league, and I have only 2 wins and am in the relegation zone with a positive GD.
This is why I love H2H competitions, it gives an extra layer of 'fuck you'.

I won't be surprised if I relegate. I'm actually putting the work in most of the times, tried going by gut, tried going with underdogs. I'm not bottom but I might as well be with my huge -GD.

H2H really is fun, I agree.

Ah damn, it's the free hit I used and not wild card (!!). I'm so drunk in FPL seriously.

Edit: found it

@Igebotz shitty odds from a book I'll never use but happy to put down a 1mbtc sidebet on ETH sack before 1 Jan. It means nothing but one United manager oversaw their last games as defeats to Klopp's Liverpool.Hate the stat but Klopp has done this to at least 5 managers already in 7 EPL seasons. Tough!

Ratcliffe's a done deal so yeah, Erik's got his job secure, it'd be cruel to get the sack in this period. I still have 2 more games for him to try and plumb deeper depths, so it's not over but I'll PM you for an address on 1 Jan...

P.S. Do any of you feel like you've posted but don't see your posts? I know if it's deleted you get a notification but I feel like it's happening every few days now. I know I didn't imagine posting, I wrote to Igebotz about my sidebet, I said sunnat about Solanke but it's not in my draft -- am I going mad?
695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +93999 units on: December 24, 2023, 08:35:09 PM
I could be wrong, but it seems to me that in previous seasons you had a much larger number of bets, so those results can be considered more relevant than the current ones (by the way, I also remember there were long periods of 20+ games without a single victory). When playing with large odds, you need to check many outcomes to know the strength of the strategy, so stop being lazy and register more bets here  Wink Cheesy

Correct. Since last season I've been having pretty difficult personal situations that no longer allow me time to study games, compare books, and do a bit of research. Betting frequency and volume down, and quality of games put here also not as good as I'd prefer. I still think it's a great strategy -- big value that eventually pays off and a season sample of <100 games, as this and last one will be, are not enough to demonstrate the strategy.

But there is always the opportunity to move into such murky areas as live betting, what do you think? If I remember correctly, you were not into this type of betting (at least on an ongoing basis). I follow sporting events mainly in text form, so the quotes are always in sight, and in my opinion everything there is far from accurate on the part of the bookmakers (maybe because they mainly pay attention to the cash flow? = they simply balance between the bets that the crowd makes) .

Absolutely! If I didn't have the life I did (say, if I were single and with few obligations) I'd actually be live-betting plenty. Odds can be extremely skewed a different periods. Liverpool going down a goal? Value. 0-0 at HT? Odds increase for ALL outcomes. Like you say, books use automation and risk management, but we're watching the flow and ebb of games.

Say whaaat, Steve even gets a pretty accurate likeness in the logo design. Very snowy picture-perfect Christmas vibes over there, hope you all put in some big wins on Wolves too, and got leftover gas for Boxing Day festivities.

And for the guest, hope you Fortifyed yourself with plenty of Estonian grog! Silver lining of exiting gaming tourneys early eh?

@cryptofrka I'm letting you off this round, really. Got real unlucky with basketball but I'm watching Gala away whenever I can put my eyes on screen, need them to salvage a draw for me... but also get into bookings. They played better actually in first half (if you can call that playing) but just one yellow and a little over 30 mins to play so not looking good for me.

Snakes, but enjoy Christmas everyone!
698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 24, 2023, 04:01:10 PM
How often do you see this? Only 5 bastards picked the right outcome, and each got the maximum haul, with two goals in injury time.

On hindsight, I should have gone for a BTTS Liverpool-Arsenal draw, past results vs contenders suggest this was the likely outcome but we really ought to have won comfortably. We just love giving Erik and Mikel early presents...
699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2023/2024 on: December 23, 2023, 09:44:01 PM
I'm currently ranked 12th in this pool.
As long as Atalanta doesn't blow-out Salernitana tonight, I should win my first Yellow Cap of the season in Serie A  Smiley

Nice one, didn't notice you did so well. Atalanta not in the best of conditions but probably pales next to Napoli, having a torrid time in Rome. Such an ill-tempered game with Osimhen getting sent off after his colleague earned a straight red, both managers cautioned -- I want to say a Mou masterclass but the home team were favoured by the books. Lukaku train steams ahead. Typical Serie A, I guess?

Tough times for Gli Azzurri after such a magnificent season.

I’m going to the game Saturday, I have mixed feelings regarding what I think will happen. I mean Liverpool rarely ever lose at Anfield. Arsenal are a good team though, it’s literally a coin flip which way it goes.

Guess the coin failed to land on either side, huh.

We really ought to have won it, expensive draw considering the injuries to Tsimi and Diaz -- hope it looked worse than it was. That 4 v 1 counter though... of all the boots to get to it, TAA's caught it and we lost the win, don't recall Anfield turf being that bobbly!

Still a good game, we now have helped make this the tightest pre-Christmas season in years.
