701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it possible to mine bitcoin with my laptop? on: November 24, 2023, 11:45:53 AM
So, can I mine bitcoin on a laptop? is my query. I just want to know how it all works; I'm not concerned about making money. With almost no chance of winning the block reward, might I download the bitcoin core, operate a full node, and let it hash away, content with the knowledge I've gathered along the way?
To set up a Bitcoin node on a laptop, you can use this guide
How to Run a Bitcoin Node: A Step-by-Step Tutorial (2023)

But if you want to make a profit from mining, then use nicehash. You will mine other coins and receive payments in Bitcoin.

El Salvador, which opened for crowdfunding, supports investors with Dogecoin. Mining will be done with solar energy and energy costs will decrease. 250k investors made their first investments.

Have you yourself used springs to reduce vibration in mining?
These ASICs have no vibration with their fan.
Don’t stop a person from mining with such advice. In Russia, ASICs work in garages with a simple ventilation system, but they do not burn from vibration.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5474164.0
Dude, it was just a suggestion. And also I don't own any kind of mining rig or anything like that so I have no idea how much noise and vibration it could make. Mining being illegal in my country makes it hard to learn about it and experience it. OP has already set up his rig with temp control, power control and ventilation. If he was having any kind of problem with sound or vibration then what I said could be a cheap solution. And also you don't want your components to get wasted quickly right?

In case of any kind of problem like this, people can use this advice as a solution. But it depends on themselves. I never said to anyone to stop mining. And it is better to prepare for the worst from the beginning. Because with any kind of electronics, things can happen randomly.
It’s very strange when you have no experience in mining or working with equipment, but try to write advice without even studying the process from videos or articles.
In my country, mining is also illegal and there have already been criminal cases for consuming electricity at low prices for mining, but miners still continue their business.
704  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: History of garage mining in Russia on: November 23, 2023, 02:45:47 PM
According to your data, the price of electricity in Bangladesh is $0.053 and in the Irkutsk region of Russia $0.017.
Sorry my bad, I missed the (0) after the decimal point. I thought it was $0.17 so I assume that it was way cheaper for us at only $0.053. it was a bit of misunderstanding from my side. So apologies.

Quote
The article says that one of the private garages in which there was illegal mining burned down. The causes of this fire are usually the negligence of the owners, resulting in a short circuit.
There are thousands of such garages in the Irkutsk region, although mining in garages is prohibited Smiley
I can't quite remember in which video but it was in a video of electroboom on YouTube. If you don't know who he is, you can give a search and you will find out. He makes great content and it's quite entertaining. But that's not what I'm discussing here. In one of his video he said that, the power that the government provides are not regulated and none of the outlet in Russia has any kind of fail safe in case of electric short circuit. I guess that could be the reason why this happened. Maybe that's why they can have cheap electricity in Irkutsk.
In Russia, the same short circuit protection equipment is used as in European countries, but you understand one thing: these are tools for household use. In mining, they have false positives, so only such standard switches are used in mining

In garages, common wires are not designed for such loads. You cannot replace these wires, and therefore miners take risks. If your neighbors also want to mine, the wires will overheat and there will be a fire. Many garages have begun to install power consumption limiters, but the garage electrician has to turn it on many times after a shutdown, and he is not always on duty in garages.

Data shared by blockchain security platform PeckShield shows that more than $86.6 million in digital assets were transferred from the HECO Chain bridge to suspicious addresses. The security firm suggests that the bridge is compromised and an exploit is ongoing.

In response to the incident, Tron founder Justin Sun announced that HTX will fully compensate users for any losses incurred in the hack. The company has also temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals as they investigate the incident. The executive said services will resume after the investigation is completed.

Changpeng Zhao, Binance’s ex-CEO, represents a substantial risk of flight given his minimal ties with the U.S., prosecutors said.

U.S. prosecutors are asking Changpeng Zhao, Binance founder and ex-CEO, not to leave the country ahead of his sentencing hearing scheduled for February 2024.

In a filing on Wednesday, prosecutors said that Zhao, a citizen of the United Arab Emirates and Canada, should not be permitted to return to his home in the UAE before sentencing on February 23 next year given “the substantial risk of flight posed by Zhao.”

708  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Share your Bitcoin Mining Strategies. on: November 22, 2023, 06:03:40 PM
I'm genuinely interested in learning from your experience. Could you please share the advanced techniques and strategies you've employed to tackle the growing challenges of increasing difficulty and competition in Bitcoin mining? How have these approaches helped you maximize the profitability and sustainability of your mining operation? Your insights could be valuable for others looking to enhance their knowledge in this area, Like I am.

Assuming that your country's mining laws and regulations are ok, you'll still need to :

-Have access to cheap electricity
-Have access to contracts that deliver sufficient electricity volume
-Have a safe and protected location
-Understand the air circulation in your location
-Having a trusted board repairer nearby
-Having a trusted ASICs reseller
-Choose a pool that shares tx fees to miners

Apart from these points, which for me are the basics for starting an operation, I don't see what strategy you want to "choose" ?. Choose your algo/asics, your coin, and just mine.
Good answer.
But if you do not have the opportunity to purchase cheap electricity, then all other items on this list immediately lose their meaning. In Russia, mining developed because in some regions the cost of electricity is 1.5-2 cents per kilowatt. But after scandals and breakdowns of household transformers in residential areas, they are fighting against miners. If mining is discovered, the equipment will be confiscated
Those ideas seem very interesting to me. Although an effective way to save on electricity consumption while mining is by using a device that allows you to mine while spending very little electricity. I've been using the Raspberry Pi to mine cryptocurrencies, and it's working very well for me. It consumes very little electricity, and I can have it running 24 hours a day. Give it a try, and if you have any doubts about how to do it, I recommend checking out this article https://easyautomatedincome.com/how-automate-raspberry-pi-mining-profit/ The price of electricity in the United Kingdom varies depending on the type of consumer and the time of day. According to GlobalPetrolPrices.com, the average price of electricity for households in March 2023 was 0.466 USD per kWh1.
Raspberry Pi is used to control the USB of mimi ASICs for eternal solo mining.
Unfortunately, without the necessary energy resources, you will not be able to start mining on ASICs.

709  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Where to place my miners? on: November 22, 2023, 05:56:01 PM
I think if the temperature and ventilation and also the power supply are all good then it is not ideal just to put it anywhere. Do not make it tall or nose heavy if you were looking for silent operation although it is not going to with that silent but you got the point. If you have access to custom parts or build some on your own, I suggest using springs to keep it suspended in the air with the frame. That will reduce vibration and noise. One intake and one outflow is going to be enough.

I think all the other thing that you need to do has already been answered by many people here so I will not go into that. If your cooling process is only air flow and temperature control, not having enough airflow time to time can create hot spots which may damage the components. So make sure that air flow is doing its job. Not getting proper air flow could lead to components becoming hot and can give you hardware errors.

Damn that image hurt my eyes. But it hurts my soul even more. I have never been able to join any kind of mining because it is not allowed where I live. But what you can do with this mining rig makes me think. And now it is all burnt to crisp. So the provided link is in Russian language and I can't translate it. It just won't let me translate it. So mind if anyone tell me what happened here?

I live in Bangladesh and the price of electricity is much cheaper than Russia but it is unfortunate that we can't mine here.

Bangladesh, March 2023: The price of electricity is 0.053 U.S. Dollar per kWh for households and 0.085 U.S. Dollar for businesses which includes all components of the electricity bill such as the cost of power, distribution and taxes. For comparison, the average price of electricity in the world for that period is 0.158 U.S. Dollar per kWh for households and 0.164 U.S. Dollar for businesses. We calculate several data points at various levels of electricity consumption for both households and businesses but on the chart we show only two data points. For households, the displayed number is calculated at the average annual level of household electricity consumption. For businesses, the displayed data point uses 1,000,000 kWh annual consumption.

According to your data, the price of electricity in Bangladesh is $0.053 and in the Irkutsk region of Russia $0.017.

Intel ARC AI image generation gains performance thanks to optimized drivers
Intel sees an opportunity in promoting Arc A7 GPUs for generative AI.
The Arc Alchemist GPU’s performance may not be up to par with the RTX 40 and RX 7000 GPUs in gaming, there’s still a lot of work to be done in that area, but Intel sees a lot of potential in generative AI powered by their architecture.

Intel Arc GPUs are actually quite cheap right now. The most powerful one, the A770, is usually available for less than $300. The 16GB variant could be of interest to users who are looking for an affordable GPU for Stable Diffusion, one of the free generative AI models available for everyone to use.

716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: No one talks about xmr and CPU mining anymore on: November 22, 2023, 05:06:38 PM
Hashrates you see on Github were obtained by running randomx-becnhmark on a single CPU core (2 threads per core). You can't extrapolate it to all 12 cores of 3900X because you'll hit the RAM bottleneck first. But these tests show what a single CPU core can do when not restricted by RAM. And it wasn't the final version. Final version will have very similar hashrates on Ryzen CPUs, a bit worse hashrates on Intel CPUs and at least ~15% worse hashrates on X5 (if they release new firmware)

As for Intel CPUs, they will get slower (compared to AMD) on RandomX v2 in terms of absolute hashrate. But efficiency (RandomX instructions/J) will be better for both AMD and Intel CPUs. AMD CPUs will execute ~15% more instructions/J, Intel CPUs - around 5-7% more.

The only reason Intel CPUs suck on RandomX is the lack of L3 cache. They still occupy the top 10 in single threaded benchmarks:

718  Local / Oбcyждeниe Bitcoin / Биткойн – бескровная революция on: November 21, 2023, 11:02:14 AM
Автор: GazetaBitcoin
Bitcoin - a bloodless revolution

Mining is not easy status. This more investment and we need to tack time to mining process. It need to more spending money for this and electricity power need more for mining process. So tack time for mining process.
One ordinary container for 300 ASICs consumes an average of 1 megawatt of electricity per hour. For several such containers, 2 engineers who will work in shifts and several assistants are enough. Since this is a profitable business with a good price for electricity, there will be investors. Another thing is to ensure the security and constant operation of this mining facility.

Toncoin was initially mined, then POS was used and its mining and algorithm were compatible.
The launch of Free TON in May 2020 marked a radical change in how the Telegram Open Network run since its creation.

Independent developers and validators, united by their shared principles and goals, banded together to form the Free TON network without involving its creator, Pavel Durov.

Their efforts culminated in a declaration that was signed by over 170 companies and individuals, followed by an online conference on YouTube where participants addressed further development goals.

In order to reward those who have supported Free TON, they allocated 85% of its 5 billion tokens for distribution amongst partners of the network and users. They rewarded the developers with another 10%, while they allocated the remaining 5% to the network validators.

Mining of the coin was carried out in conjunction with the POS algorithm and the number of coins for mining was limited.
