701  Economy / Exchanges / Re: LiveCoin.net >Buy/Sell/Exchange>New pairs:BVK/BTC,APOD/BTC,KTETH/BTC on: December 26, 2020, 01:35:09 AM
They likely have more than one server, and any servers that are public facing are likely separate from their back end, and wallet servers.

If there are any actual loss of funds, which I assume there are, I don’t think it will make a difference of if this is an exit scam or not.
702  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The Pharmacist scammed me on: December 25, 2020, 11:20:13 PM
Amount Scammed: 30€ ( -10% as fee = 27€)
I hope 30 Euros is not a lot of money for you. You should take this as a lesson to be sure you are talking to the right person when you are making a trade.

You can try contacting PayPal to see if the payment can be reversed.

Based on the available evidence, I don't think TP is involved besides sending a '~no thanks' PM to you. I would also be surprised if anyone would be willing to accept PayPal from a new user with no reputation, due to the high risk of accepting PayPal.
703  Economy / Reputation / Re: Trust Violation Apology on: December 25, 2020, 10:31:10 PM
what fake scam accusation are you talking about?
Here are two of them:

I am pretty sure there were many more.

the escrow victims then I might consider this thread genuine.
This thread was intended for anyone who had placed their trust in me in the past. The escrow victims were refunded publicly, and apologized to privately in 2015, and in both cases, there was no hard feelings.
But apology accepted as far as any wrongdoings against me personally.
Thank you.

704  Economy / Reputation / Trust Violation Apology on: December 25, 2020, 07:29:38 PM
I wanted to apologize to anyone whose trust I may have broken over the years, including but not limited to one particular incident. I got the idea from another forum member who was in very good standing, and was well trusted at the time throughout the community -- I entered into a transaction with what turned out to be one of his sockpuppets, and he suggested that we use his 'main' account as a middle man. When I got caught, I lied about being banned in order to cover it up, which was wrong, is something I should not have done, and is something I regret doing.

I also wanted to apologize to anyone who I may have otherwise harmed over the years in any other way (I have never stolen from anyone here, or IRL). I am a very principled person, but sometimes did not get other perspectives, or try to be able to see things from the other person's shoes before starting a topic. I should have done better.

I have always cared about my reputation here. Even when I was someone who was well trusted, I did not like it when people opened fake scam accusations because they were upset at me. My intentions were always good, even if my actions were not.

Thank you.
705  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Livecoin.net Scam on: December 24, 2020, 07:13:35 PM
...if you happen to notice any other weird things going on with Livecoin don't hesitate to bump this thread.  I know I'd be very interested in hearing about any red flags.

ATTENTION!!!

Dear clients, we ask you to stop using our service in all meanings: don't deposit funds, don't trade, don't use API. We are under a carefully planned attack, which has been prepared, as we assume, over the last few months. We lost control of all of our servers, backend and nodes. Thus, we were not able to stop our service in time. Our news channels were compromised as well. At the moment, we partially control frontend, and so we're able to place this announcement. We're fighting hard to get back our servers, nodes and funds, we're working 24/7. News and next update will come up in the next few days. We're working in contact with local police authorities. We really do our best to overcome this issue.
My gosh that is bad.

Regardless of if the hack is real, or if this is an exit scam, I don't think many people will place much trust in Livecoin in the future.

Merry Christmas eve
707  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do you think BiPolarBob is crazy ?? - share with us the help he gave to you on: December 22, 2020, 05:22:04 PM
Now that I think of it, BiPolar Bob was playing the long con Cheesy He sold us cheap stuff at low cost, and now he's sitting at 50x+ of that value.

Lesson learned? Hodl. Always.
BPB was a nice guy. He was not receiving similar value for the things he was giving away. He was basically giving away gift cards at a 90% discount when he was paying full price. I hope he is doing well today.
708  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What do you think of changing the demographic of a country to win elections? on: December 20, 2020, 04:54:40 PM
We can all agree, basically, that an easy way to win an election in a democratic country - is to import foreign people who support the same ideology as those importing them... or to export those disagreeing with it. What do you think of this democratic strategy to win elections?

Easy? I don't think it is easy at all. If you are a presidential candidate in the U.S., you would need to import 160 million people in order to guarantee a win. Good luck!
If your platform is mainstream in one of the major parties, you will only need to import enough people to make up for the lost swing voters.

Wow, you really hold a grudge. Almost obsessively.

Bump
711  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: From node to block explorer? on: December 15, 2020, 08:31:48 PM
A block explorer will use a database to keep track of transactions and will update it as new blocks come in. It will probably not use RPC commands as it receives requests from its users.
712  Economy / Reputation / Re: ~OgNasty's self scratching on: December 06, 2020, 05:41:47 PM
That being said, +81, +86 or +87 really doesn't matter much.
I would have to agree with this point. I doubt anyone is going to have their mind changed about if they are going to trust OgN with their money based on his changed trust score.
713  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Source - Plagiarist on: December 06, 2020, 05:32:06 PM
I am not a fan of these types of threads, especially when so much of the content is from the sources/references, but this is not plagiarism.
714  Economy / Reputation / PSA - don't reach out to me about 'stuck' transactions on: November 28, 2020, 02:06:15 PM
In the past, many forum users have reached out to me for help getting 'stuck' transactions confirmed, and I was often happy and able to help. Moving forward, please stop PM'ing me for help with these transactions. I don't review my PMs frequently enough to be of timely help, and when I do respond, most people messaging me about these transactions never reply back to me.

I am not even sure my access code to the pool I previously had access to still works. I have not tried to use it in a very long time.

If I know you, I don't mind if you ask me for help with these transactions, although I probably will still not see your message in a timely manner. It would probably be best if you either double spend your 'stuck' transaction, or execute a Child Pays for Parent (CPFP) transaction.

Thank you.

edit: You can send me a PM, but you should expect to pay for this service in advance

Well I guess I was right.

It is too bad that RBG did not retire to allow her to enjoy her last year with her family and loved ones.
716  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [2020-10-20]FinCEN fined bitcoin mixer on: October 22, 2020, 04:39:21 AM
This is good/important information. I haven't reviewed the case, but the premise is flawed IMO. I don't think it is a slam-dunk case. People should be aware of this case though
717  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Segwit Adoption. I looked at some data, and we are not there yet. on: October 22, 2020, 04:31:58 AM
How many addresses out there are cold storage / physical things that have funds sitting on them in legacy addresses?
They will probably be there for a long time.
How many are paper wallets?
There are a few other reasons I can think of that legacy is still around and being used.

-Dave
Some people followed a specific procedure to generate, secure and backup keys, or xpriv keys, and are confident the keys are secure and safe against loss. They may be nervous about generating new private keys for segwit addresses. I started using SW years ago, but this was my biggest hurdle to switch over.
718  Economy / Reputation / Re: Goodbye, world! on: October 22, 2020, 04:10:41 AM
Oh wow, it is always sad to see one of the most prolific posters go, even if we didn't always see eye-to-eye. This thread makes me glad that some things were addressed earlier this year.

I am sure that some people will want to speculate what is happening in the coming days/weeks/months, I am curious myself, and have some speculation, but I don't think any of that is appropriate.

I am not sure if you will read this thread, but I guess I would say 'good luck'.

It seems that Lauda's account is already blocked. I tried to send her a farewell PM but I received this error: "User 'Lauda' has blocked your personal message.". I doubt she blocked specifically my PMs lol, as we never had any fight.

You can block all PM's by blocking "*"

Like Quickseller, even if you're not that active on your main account for some reason I get the feeling Lauda will still be around in one form or another.

I am still a merit source and read enough posts to give out my monthly allowance of merit to well deserving posts that contribute to the forum. I don't have as much time to post as I did in the past.
719  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump has Coronavirus :( on: October 02, 2020, 02:52:59 PM
The hatred in this thread and elsewhere on social media is disgusting, and should be condemned in the strongest way possible.

The appropriate reaction to this is to wish the Trump family a quick recovery.
