721  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to know what is the use of rewards, and since when rewards are given to m on: January 06, 2023, 11:59:23 PM
<…>
Merits, or rewards as you call them, were introduced during late January 2018 (with a slight subsequent change in September 2018 affecting Jr. Members), with the declared goal of curbing the amount of spam on the forum. Until then, accounts ranked-up by merely posting and gaining Activity, which was easy-peasy and required no real effort, nor was it affected by the content one wrote. Merits changed that, and reduced spam a fair share I’d say, at least on the main boards, and although a certain degree of spam is inevitable, those knee deep in the habit won’t get very far up the ranking scale.
All your questions have been answered by this post, everything was there on the link given, just read and understand so that you'll know how this merit system works in the forum and how helpful it is.  Because the merit system and the activity that require are now all together and it's a prerequisite that must be acquired.

Isn't that hard if you're knowledgable enough, engaging in technical topics, and of course with knowledge of it is very easy for you to have merit.
So, therefore, I may advise you to read more first and learn, your quality post will be rewarded even without knowing you and it'll come spontaneously.
722  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Safepal hardware wallet review and opinions on: January 06, 2023, 11:27:28 PM
Some of the obstacles that I also complain about from Safepal are the use of batteries that are still wasteful.
When using the wallet regularly the battery will run out in less than 1 week with full charging during use.

I also encountered the battery problem, when switched off the battery discharges anyway and often when I don't use it for a long time I find the safepal totally discharged! I think this should be fixed. Do you happen to know if in the new s1 with the introduction of type-c they have also fixed the battery problem?
I didn't use this but yeah, I've read in different articles that the common problem is the short life span of the battery because they use lithium batteries which is IMO, if you'll not charge it regularly it will reduce the lifespan.  If you're familiar with the most popular battery used in solar energy they used lithium which needs to recharge daily.  My advice is that, even though you didn't use it just check and occasionally charge it like every week even though you're not using it, the battery survives more or less 20 days as their website said which I think 1 week is quite enough.

Now knowing that issue?
Would you continue using SafePal hardware wallet?
723  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Nobody dont help us the traders let's help ourselfes now idea on: January 06, 2023, 11:05:37 PM
Whos down for that idea ?

Oh wow, what a fantastic idea! Let us just ask the entire world to donate a measly $5 and all of our problems will be solved. I am sure there won't be any challenges or risks to this plan at all. I mean, who wouldn't want to give away $5 to fix the futures markets? This is definitely going to work.

One question, though. Who will be responsible for managing these funds? Are you volunteering for this role?

Bitcointalk admin can collect the funds.
I don't care who Will do it as long as someone will do it Im in crypto only to get money for me don't matter how i get it or who Will collect liquity funds as long as Market functioning the way to give maximum ammount of money to me.
I dont mind to donate Even more If i can make money we all can it's called power of unity power of crowd funding we collect money and put money to work For us.

I don't think this proposal will work and let admin agree with your plan.
It seems a big slap on Bitcoiners here to do a pump and dump on Bitcoin by doing such action, you can't manipulate the market, if you do once, for sure it'll not happen again.  There's a high volume in the market and I don't think it's as simple as you think.

No one also wants to hold that big responsibility here, imagine you hold a large amount of money.  Bitcoin was designed for a digital payment system, not a pump and dump.

This won't work, IMO.

724  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people store their cryptocurrency on exchanges? on: January 06, 2023, 10:51:26 PM
It is quite easy to answer why people store their cryptocurrency in exchanges.

1.  They are lazy.
2.  They have limited knowledge of securing their fund.
3.  They are actively trading
4.  They had avail for earning through staking and lending programs.
5.  They wanted to save withdrawal processing and deposit transaction fee.
6.  They have limited knowledge on setting up their own wallet and too afraid to move their coins thinking that they can possibly misclick or input wrong address that may cause their funds to poof.

Pretty much that says the majority of the reason why people store their cryptocurrency in exchanges.
I tend to agree with what you've all said except the number 1.
No one becomes lazy when it comes to valuable stuff, because that's your asset and if you'll know that it'll be lost in the future, then you have to save it.
That category will belong to the lack of knowledge, they store on exchange because they thought that it's safe and there's always support to ask when every time they'll forget or lose their credentials to access the account, unlike non-custodial wallet or exchange it's all your responsibility to keep your private key.

Another factor could be, that Binance promised their users that their fund was in SAFU, but poor users only believed in the marketing strategy so that they will not leave on exchange put into a trust.  People have learned now, that FTX and Binance recently happened was have an impact on the community on how to store your coin in a right place.
725  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: More Regulation Incoming! on: January 03, 2023, 11:56:16 PM
I don't like regulations, not only about privacy, but I fear that regulations will slow down the growth of the market. I believe most people enter the market because they like the volatility of cryptocurrencies, but once there is regulation, I fear that will disappear along with our privacy. Look at the stock market or the forex market, they are regulated, and they become more stable because they are tightly managed. Regulations are inevitable, but we can only hope they won't be too strict with us.
Regulation has nothing to do with a decentralized platform, it could be applicable on the centralized platforms if this is your choice.
Might you forget the goal of the Bitcoin creator the reason why Bitcoin was created?  What we can do now is to avoid centralized platforms to avoid more regulations.
726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Dev is not your friend, so be careful. on: January 03, 2023, 11:46:22 PM
Please, be careful out there, the devs are not smiling
And if you must invest in a project you are not too sure of, always put something small, don't go all in, you might end up regretting.

I tend to agree and that's true.
We should always have DYOR upon picking a new project, we should follow them whenever they're as an active community because in that way we know about their project goal and we determine how good they're.  But now, most commonly a new project doesn't have a clear utility, it becomes redundant to other existing projects that also didn't exist.  That's why I didn't put large money into a new project.

I rather give a large amount on Bitcoin than these new project altcoins.
727  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will 2023 be another up year for Bitcoin? on: January 03, 2023, 11:21:58 PM
My prediction could be, it might depend on what happens around, as we can see Bitcoin price always reacts to the trend whether it's positive or negative events.  So possible if there's good news these days Bitcoin has a chance to pump up and if there's worst news like hacking, exchange shut down, or any scenario that is connected to crypto, this surely will take effect.

For now, I'm speechless with my prediction for this year, it's too early to say what will happen to the Bitcoin price.
However, that's an amazing discovery, I also notice this before when I was commenting on a thread of predictions which is every four years will pass, and Bitcoin will dump the price.
728  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Many signals don't work now like they use to be on: January 03, 2023, 11:08:54 PM
Any good signals ?
Right now many signals don't work how they use to be
What did you expect then?
There's no good in any signal groups because most of them turn to scam or scams their users by giving a false trading signal.
Don't work because they are not a good source for your trading, it should you must learn on your own.

Quote
I understood If there is no pmp but dont have Even the dmps what's going on ?
That's just the market how works, because of the volatility nature of the price eventually pump and dumps, it could be we've experienced a dump market today because who knows days have passed there will be another new ATH will come on Bitcoin price.

Quote
How long we have to wait ?
The question is Will we stay in crypto If it's not working ?
There's no specific time but it's proven for how many years based on history that Bitcoin price will always reach another all-time high.
If you've faith and trust, you can wait and those who have patient will receive a better reward in the future.
729  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Expectation for 2023 on: January 02, 2023, 11:53:45 PM
So I think everyone would expect that bitcoin would rally again this year, and believe me I'm also rooting for it, but I realize that we should not expect too much, why? because too much expectation will only disappoint us when we don't reach our goal or target
I didn't expect this, why?
I've been here in the crypto space for many years and I witnessed so many times how bullrun and when it commonly happened.
It's expected that there will be a bull market when after a halving, most commonly after a year.

But I tend to agree with you, don't expect too much that there's a bull market this year, it could be better if set our mindset that Bitcoin investment is a long-term purpose, not a short term.

So whatever happens in the market, never sell your coin at a loss position.
730  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: withdrawing bitcoin - newbie - advice welcome on: January 02, 2023, 11:17:17 PM
Tip: Don't withdraw directly that bitcoin of yours from casino > any exchange (ex. Binance, Coinbase).

This comment above...confuses me.

I thought i just generate an address using wasibi wallet and simply give that address when i click the withdraw button on the casino?

No?
That's a problem now in most centralized wallets, they prohibit users to link their wallets to any gambling platform.
Even in my local wallet, they eventually banned/froze wallets that linked to any gambling platform, so it is not advisable to send your crypto directly on an exchange or a wallet that comes from a gambling casino wallet, much better if you will read the terms of use before making such a decision.

I want to know more on how to withdraw bitcoin from my wallet and the some one should please guide me for the trusted wallet I suppose to use
Here's the list of all crypto exchanges if you want to withdraw your coin and trade it into your local currency.  P2P exchange or decentralized exchnage if you want to cover your identity or if you aren't afraid of KYC go for a centralized exchnage platform.  There's nothing safer, buy a hardware wallet that can protect your valuable asset.
731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help "I had Free Bitcoin 2011 with registration" on: January 01, 2023, 11:06:51 PM
Thank you all for your replies.
I will try to contact Microsoft to find a solution
There's nothing if you'll try contacting them but I have a doubt that's already gone together with the website.
Because usually, the Bitcoin website that has a faucet or Bitcoin giveaways was shut down and can't open anymore.  Not unless you have control of that wallet's private key so that you can able to recover the wallet even though the site itself was shut down.

Freebitco.in was the oldest gambling site that has a faucet since I'm new in crypto and I think before that was not a gambling casino.
732  Other / Archival / Re: New Year Goals, New Year Resolutions: My Thoughts on: January 01, 2023, 03:40:08 PM
Actually, there are categories in which your new year's resolution will fall.
  • Start a new goal
  • Stopping an ineffective way of being or abandoning
  • Continuing as you've said the last new year's resolution or just stuff that has been still working for you.

Might most of us choose the last one because IMO, you'll need to learn from the past and correct it in the future which is your new year's resolution?  If you invested in crypto and get easily panic and get FUD.  It should be no more FUD in the future because you've learned it and avoided possible mistakes.
733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why you should be very careful with alts on: December 20, 2022, 11:35:03 PM
If you're afraid to risk your investment, don't hug altcoins as your investment because they aren't worth it.  It seems you gambled your money playing with a high-odds game or have a high multiplier.

Many altcoins you are seeing right now are build on "Make the project, promise the entire world rare utilities and never really deliver anything, they will keep using words and investors will keep hoping.
So basically what people are looking for?  Quick profit?
We've already altcoins that are listed on Coinmarketcap that has real utility if this is what they are meant for, but they're just looking for a hype coin that makes them rich quickly but doesn't have real use.
734  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I came here to Learn On Bitcointalk on: December 20, 2022, 11:20:58 PM
We always welcomed users who are just willing to learn about Bitcoin or the entire cryptocurrency.
I suggest you read it first before deciding to post because there are too many existing topics that you're looking for on this board.  Find those pinned or sticky topics above and you'll find out helpful topics that increase your knowledge and knows what's dos and dont's here in the forum.

But still recently I have learned that Satoshi was the man ...
There's no clear identity or gender regarding on Satoshi's personality, it could be a group of people, a man or a woman, no one knows.  Not unless, if you know this founder of Bitcoin personally.

You're in the right place to explore the beauty of blockchain technology but you're not late, there's plenty of time to know more about Bitcoin.
735  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Futures trading in USA on: December 20, 2022, 11:07:37 PM
If you were using the U.S. IP address accessing Binance you will surely get an error message that pops up on your screen.

Keep in mind that using VPN was against their terms, if you'll find out that you've used VPN to bypass geo-restrictions, the circumstances could be suspending your account and freezing your fund.  I tend to agree with the suggestion above, just contact the Binance support team and ask regarding this concern if they've any legal solution.

Though using VPN is legal but it depends where on local laws and regulations.
736  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trader’s goal: A strategy with positive expectancy on: December 20, 2022, 02:48:01 PM
You need to know 3 things to determine if your strategy has a chance to be profitable:

  • Win rate – the percentage of trades that are profitable
  • Risk-reward ratio (RRR) – the ratio of the average potential profit to the average potential loss on a trade
  • Transaction costs – commissions, fees, and other expenses associated with executing a trade

EXAMPLE:

Trades: 100

Win rate: 50%

RRR: 1:2

Transaction costs in total: 5% of balance for the 100 trades

Expectancy = (Win rate x Win Size) – (Loss rate x Loss size) – TC = Expectancy per trade

Expectancy = (0,5 x 2) – (0,5 x 1) – 0,05 = 0,45 R per trade

Considering the outcome, you shouldn't forget the Stop-loss as your plan B or exit plan.
Don't stick to one strategy, quickly switch to another one if you have consistent losses because that's not a good strategy.

The strategies that you're talking about are just a tool in trading but don't give a guarantee that you'll have an accurate win rate, there's no assurance for that in how good you are in trading.

Quote
The more data you have in hand the better the prediction can be, but these three data points should be enough to tell if the trading strategy is likely to be profitable over the long term or not.
No, it made you confused, stick to one strategy and switch if it isn't working.

Quote
The confidence gained from knowing your trading strategy has a positive expectancy is why you’re spending hours building and testing it. You don’t have to decide on the spot, you just mechanically execute what your system tells you.
You have positive expectancy but don't expect to have an accurate results.
737  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can we suffer at some exchange due to some of their services' breach? on: December 20, 2022, 02:15:01 PM
One consequence is also true that someone cannot or do not move their coins due to the fact that they have the money there due to their trading habits, and one major reason for which they do not move their coins out from the exchange is the fee they are charged every time, so they keep their money to fulfill their greedy habit of their everyday trading.
In this case, we should choose the right exchange where to entrust our money.
One of the reasons why they don't move their coin into non-custodial wallets is that there's a fee for every transaction they have, but isn't really a good idea to let your coins sleep on the exchange wallet.

I think that's not a greedy habit, looking and finding a way how to save fees is a wise move.

That's why when an exchange gets hacked or compromised, they freeze all accounts and didn't allow users to withdraw their funds.  It will surely be really frustrating that will others will create a massive panic.  Then, it's us who will suffer when there's a security breach on the exchange.
738  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any other danger apart from storing funds on exchanges? on: December 19, 2022, 11:59:33 PM
Haha, dont believe that your fund is in SAFU, a centralized exchange will not help when it comes to the security of storing the fund, they are prone to hacks and scams, or it might possibly cause an inside job.  So why do we trust them to hold our funds?

Besides, Bitcoin was designed and created for a decentralized purpose why we need those centralized platforms.
Those you've mentioned above are also centralized coins, they are very danger to hold in a long term.
739  Other / Off-topic / Re: My story and where it is now..... on: December 19, 2022, 11:47:42 PM
It crushed my heart reading your story while there was a small drop of tears in my eyes knowing about your condition.
Back then (2017) when I remember, you were the first manager that I worked with and I can't forget that.  I'll try to help you financially by this next week as much as I can, a little amount that only I can afford.  I respect you as my first manager here in the forum and you've my sympathy.

There's a lesson in this story that you've shared, we should give value to our health not becomes it's too late or becomes complicated, regular check-ups should it must than knowing it's too late and it becomes complicated.

Just pray and don't forget to call and speak to God, merciful Jesus will give us a trial but won't let us suffer once we call his name.
Just surrender to him your problem and will surely hear your voice.  If I know your true name, we will pray for you and ask for the fastest healing together with my brothers and sisters in the church.

More power to you sir @yahoo62278 and thank you for this advice.
740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It's been 2 months and now I am doing well.(I guess). on: December 18, 2022, 11:59:26 PM
It’s a delight reading post about using bitcoin and other crypto as payment options. As for your problem with delay in confirmation, using lightning network for your transaction would be faster. It was already suggested that you adopt lightning network in your previous thread. It seems you haven’t done so yet, I guess you didn’t see it or aren’t familiar with the process. You can read it up here “Basics of the Lightning Network”.
I also noticed your customers pay in BNB and USDT, I didn’t see any bitcoin transaction. Are you only accepting these coins as payment?

one bottleneck here also is that his customers will find it hard at first to be oriented with lightning network, hence, they are using third party platform for the payment method. once direct way of receiving payment is via electrum wallet where you can provide your wallet address. as it is not consuming a lot of space, one can install it also via google play. at least with this wallet, you have full control of your keys and you don't have to worry about the third party service provider. now, the OP can directly receive BTC and may very well offer a discount as you will not add anymore the fees involve using binance pay.
Be careful downloading or using a search engine in google play, use the official website of Electrum when someone wants to download it because it's a safe way to download Electrum and the last thing is always to verify GPG signatures.

However, I tend to agree with this using Electrum as your Bitcoin wallet via payment method, you can also use it through a QR code on that app.
It usually takes 10-15 mins when the confirmation transaction to confirm and for a safe transaction could be 3-4 confirmations and that's unlikely can reverse a transaction.

Good luck in your business, glad to know there are people who keep spreading Bitcoin awareness.
