Was a billionaire yesterday...

Q:
How it’s possible they were so stupid to keep their private key on plain text on a cloud service?

A:

They were no less stupid than the average cryptocurrency investor who keeps his coins on CEX, online wallet, or cloud/email. A fool who has an empty wallet and a fool who has 100 000 BTC in a crypto wallet are still fools who face the same fate. They could have lived like kings all their lives and stayed under the radar, but it still required intelligence they obviously did not have.

The more that we find out, the more implausible the whole story seems -... yet we do know that some dumb peeps do exist in this world, but somehow they might end up coming across fortunes of BTC or some other cryptos.  Something is missing in this story in terms of transferring online and into one wallet rather than maybe having some coins spread in various other places..

I lol'ed

The Bitfinex thieves (or at least the ones that ended up with the coins):

The most interesting thing to me here is confirmation that the feds are taking an interest in financial criminal activity the crypto/Bitcoin world.

It also shows something else too.

Shitcoiners want to rail on btc for being pseudo anonymous and for transactions being traceable. But it's a feature, not a bug. I guarantee you that if it truly weren't, the governments of the world would have made a concerted effort long ago to declare Bitcoin illegal. In some ways, it is Bitcoin's saving grace in terms of governments and corporations embracing and adopting it.

Bitcoiners (or even cryptards) that really cling to this notion of bitcoin as an "investment" have the wrong mindset.

Instead when they think of bitcoin, it should be of putting money in their "bank".

That way, the idea of cashing out or liquidating at some future point becomes completely meaningless, and time becomes inconsequential.

"Yeah, I'm putting money in my bank today, with the plan of taking it all out after the next 4 years."

"I need to know when to liquidate my bank account at the next top."

"When do I sell all in my bank account?"

See? Why would you do that? Makes no sense.

How sad and insane that a smart, caring mother has to go school board meeting and nearly lose her shit speaking pure common sense and logic, in order to try and get masks mandates lifted for school children. More people should be outraged at this hypocritical, politically-driven bullshit.

Masks are for the sick and endangered, imo. This is my conclusion after 2 years of pandemic life.
Vaccines are for the same, and for the frightened.
The virus will stay, however, regardless of in which way(s) it will mutate and spread.

Tell me, how can anybody else having more than only two ping-pong balls in their head not see this?

Last year, you would have been labeled a conspiratard, laughed at, ridiculed, angrily shouted down, censored, and banned from every corner of the internet for saying all of that.

But now that the narrative is changing and the facts and real science are coming out? Pure silence from that camp.

The ‘Bitcoin Family’ immigrates to Portugal for its 0% tax on cryptocurrencies
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/06/bitcoin-family-moves-to-portugal-crypto-tax-haven.html

I can't find it now, but I distinctly remember a thread that was talking about this family. Most of the commenters were laughing and absolutely eviscerating them for being so "stupid" and "reckless" for going all in on bitcoin at the time, and saying how they will lose everything. I was one of the few on that thread, if not the only one, who applauded and defended their YOLO move.

I get your point... But do we really think Banks, which may end up holding large amount of Bitcoin are going to park it in single sig addresses?  That would be incredibly foolish.  But as I said, your point of them wanting to have total control... yeah... I get that part.
No, of course in the back office they will have proper cold storage and high security protocols like they should, that would probably involve multisig wallets in the mix.

I'm just referring to what they will expose to the public end user.

A sitting senator bought a whole corn!  (Ovbiously)  What do you mean that is not much!  Now the other senators will start to want one... and then they will start reading about it... and then some (like that one) will begin to see...

Translation: A sitting politician publically bought a tiny amount of bitcoin as a gesture of support, but in private his family bought a fuck ton years ago through shell corps.

What you guys think?

I think you probably need some sleep.

That is so freaking true…!!!

I think new $40k feeling is overwhelming.

To be clear, there will definitely be borrowing and lending in a Bitcoin world and there will probably be a role for bank-like entities but this idea that your money is "in the bank" like it's sitting in a vault somewhere and you can always access it any time has to end. I mean, haven't people seen "It's a Wonderful Life"?

The tell about banks holding your btc is that they will inexplicably NOT allow you access to a multisig wallet. You may have access to an account with a btc balance, but it will be single signature and behind the scenes they will have the private key and you won't.

That will tell you everything you need to understand about fractional reserve bitcoin banking. Not your keys not your coins, indeed.

CDC Says Natural Immunity Outperformed Vaccines Against Delta Strain
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/cdc-says-natural-immunity-outperformed-vaccines-against-delta-strain/ar-AASWPCZ

So if the CDC is now admitting that natural immunity provided better protection than the vaccines alone, why are governments, corporations, and organizations still pushing vaccine mandates on people and sports figures who have already had Covid? Why are people losing their jobs who have already had Covid? 🤡🤡🤡🤡
733  Other / Off-topic / Re: [WO/Hat-Gang Only - MODERATED] The fucking COVID vax thread (No hat? Fuck off!) on: February 04, 2022, 04:33:40 PM
I don't even have to say that, because everyone knows by now that they are incentivized to do so.

There is also a great incentive for me to rob a bank but it doesn't mean that I'd do it.

Do you have actual proof that the excess deaths didn't exist and were just fake/double-counted COVID deaths?

Do you have definitive proof that they weren't? This argument goes both ways.

You're placing your trust in Govt and Big Pharma, who have had ulterior motives through this entire debacle.

This is interesting looking buying.  I am looking at volume across SEVERAL exchanges.  Usually when we see this it is primarily at one exchange with much less volume (proportionally) than the others... But THIS action is happening pretty much at all the exchanges.  Either a lot of people are buying organically at once (this implies news) Or a really really rich mfer bought up the order books to a certain point at all the exchanges.

The latter seems odd.  People planning to make big purchases are not going to go to all the trouble of loading up at several exchanges and then hit the MARKET BUY button.

So I am assuming there is some news we have not seen yet?  Guatemala?  Ecuador (have seen some there, but not really enough to do this?), Something else?  Or just a whale that DGAF?

It's pretty well documented by now that it is all algo-driven bots that are buying on technicals. That is what you are seeing. It broke upwards on the downward triangle, not much more to say.

Yes, I know your next argument (being very generous here) would be "how do we know that" states and funeral homes and doctors aren't all in on the conspiracy.

I don't even have to say that, because everyone knows by now that they are incentivized to do so.

If all the data is flawed then w t f is everyone arguing about?Huh Hilarious

Well, you bring up a great point. And frankly I'm all for throwing out all the data, because it's all flawed as far as I'm concerned.

How about we use our eyes and see what is happening around us? And perhaps use our common sense?

I mean, how much more proof do people need that these vaccines aren't even preventing serious infection and illness?

'80% of serious COVID cases are fully vaccinated' says Ichilov hospital director
Vaccine has "no significance regarding severe illness," says Prof. Yaakov Jerris.

https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/321674

Quote
“Right now, most of our severe cases are vaccinated,” Jerris told Channel 13 News. “They had at least three injections. Between seventy and eighty percent of the serious cases are vaccinated. So, the vaccine has no significance regarding severe illness, which is why just twenty to twenty-five percent of our patients are unvaccinated.”

Jerris also revealed some of the confusion in reporting cases. Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Sunday, he told ministers, “Defining a serious patient is problematic. For example, a patient with a chronic lung disease always had a low level of oxygen, but now he has a positive coronavirus test result which technically makes him a ‘serious coronavirus patient,’ but that’s not accurate. The patient is only in a difficult condition because he has a serious underlying illness.

Suchmoon's argument hinges on the idea that mortality data during the 2020 year period was recorded completely accurately.

How do we even know that? How do we know they didn't have duplicate entry for Covid associated fatalities? The mortality data for Covid is published by the CDC, an entity that is already criminally suspect at best.

We already know that some deaths that were completely unrelated to Covid were counted as Covid deaths:
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2021/09/19/sharyl_attkisson_serious_questions_about_the_way_covid_deaths_have_been_counted.html
Quote
The same time Colorado’s coroners were challenging the death count, Dr. Deborah Birx of the White House Coronavirus Task Force was being asked about the same thing.

Birx (April 7, 2020): The intent is right now, that if someone dies with COVID-19, we are counting that as a COVID-19 death.

Some of the eyebrow-raising examples of deaths attributed to covid include— Fatalities after traffic accidents, three Colorado nursing home deaths, even though the attending physicians said they weren’t related to coronavirus.

And a case in Nashville, Tennessee. In August 2020, Hal Short’s wife was stunned to see Covid-19 named as the cause on her husband’s death certificate— after he died of an aggressive cancer. He’d tested negative for coronavirus three times. Only after the family complained, was Covid-19 removed a clerical error blamed.

So if a person died in a motorcycle crash and tested positive for Covid, we have no idea how they recorded that. They could have recorded the death once for blunt force trauma, and recorded it again separately as a Covid death.

738  Other / Off-topic / Re: [WO/Hat-Gang Only - MODERATED] The fucking COVID vax thread (No hat? Fuck off!) on: February 03, 2022, 08:56:21 PM
Comorbidities don't make the numbers false.

Actually they do, if you misreport the actual underlying cause completely wrong to boost the numbers. Slap a Covid positive test on nearly every death, and then death by Covid arbitrarily becomes "the defacto reason".

Again, take a look at the excess deaths and try to explain that away without resorting to fallacies. Number of excess deaths in 2020 in the US was actually higher than the official COVID-19 death count so if anything the COVID-19 numbers were possibly under-reported.

Well, we didn't have all those people taking the Covid vaccines in previous years. And suicides, overdoses, homicides, etc. were way up too. So....lol.

Anyway, I'm done debating for now.
739  Other / Off-topic / Re: [WO/Hat-Gang Only - MODERATED] The fucking COVID vax thread (No hat? Fuck off!) on: February 03, 2022, 07:00:01 PM
Being not fit for a certain purpose doesn't make it true or false. It's just not fit for a certain purpose. However claiming or implying that VAERS shows 18,000 deaths caused by the vaccines is false, because VAERS doesn't and can't show such a thing.

You mean kinda like claiming that 385,000 deaths in 2020 were caused by Covid infection is false, because 94% of them had 1-4 comorbidities?

It's almost as if distancing and masks may slow the spread of some infections.

But yet had zero effect of slowing the spread of Covid during the same period. How odd.
