I tried adding 2 solar chargers to my cart for testing. Came up as $0.

724  Economy / Speculation / Re: FAKE BITCOINS on: December 07, 2014, 08:49:19 AM
Wow fewcoins has gone full retard on us now. There are no fake bitcoins, just double counting of ownership and people lying about how many they actually have.

What ever happened to the higher-than-average IQ forum members? I feel we are simply surrounded by low IQ's and it's only going to get worse as bitcoin goes more mainstream.
725  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 07, 2014, 08:17:13 AM
Woot made some money! Sold at $378.50, now lets short for a few mins Tongue

It's been over an hour, what happened?

Nothing really. I'm waiting/hoping for $376.xx then I will close my short. The 3minute MACD is still negative so hopefully it will happen. Then I will close the short and go margin long for a little ride, rinse and repeat until I make more USD/BTC or lose it all haha
726  Economy / Economics / Re: Why does the IRS want bitcoins? on: December 07, 2014, 08:13:28 AM
They don't want your bitcoins, they want their USD back (taxes) from your bitcoin gain. Why tax bitcoin gain --- They need all the money they can get and will tax you to your death

729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys.. I just love Bitcoin so much.. on: December 07, 2014, 06:38:10 AM

Gold is so yesterday. Bitcoin is amazing! Its going to be the game changer of the future!

Probably. But it is always a good idea to diversify too.
730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many of you consolidate your bitcoins? on: December 07, 2014, 06:36:32 AM
Well I'm definitely one of them. Also considered a freak. Why I say that is because I usually make it a routine (better word compulsory) to transfer between addresses and usually I try to keep the transaction size small (<1000kb) by having three transactions max received per address. Also this is done by waiting for the transactions to age (usually about 1 week) before I can transfer for low fee or sometime for zero fee and then consolidate to combine into a single output.

Any of you guys do that or you will just leave it there?

What is the advantage of keeping the transaction size of a smaller value?

If you constantly spend your bitcoin and you don't use change address, each output that doesn't consume the whole coin will leave dust amount. Eventually these will cost you more the next time you decide to use it as the tx size kb will increase.

I prefer some amount of privacy vs transaction size. And to be quite honest, as long as the transaction isn't sending dust you can send pretty large transactions for the same 0.0001 fee that you would for a very small transaction. I always send the 0.0001 fee, even if I could get away with making it completely free.....support the network with those 3-4 cents Smiley
731  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is coinbase down, I keep getting error message, on: December 07, 2014, 06:33:35 AM
Many thanks to bornil267645 lyth0s

I am still experiencing the problem and I am going to sleep now. Will try back later. I am using windows 7, chrome and no ssl.

If you don't see https://coinbase.com something is wrong and I suggest you NOT entering your password. Load it up on a different PC and/or internet connection and see if you get the https

The 3D MACD is decreasing over the past 2 intervals. Also by the looks of it we may be staying at $375 until December 20th barring any breaking news.

I'm going to trade on a 3 minute MACD and see how many btc I lose Tongue
733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isn't Mining Economically Retarded? on: December 07, 2014, 06:10:13 AM
1. If a miner was more profitable than the price payed, wouldn't the mining companies use them instead of selling them?

2. If a cloud miner was more profitable than the price payed, wouldn't the mining companies use them instead of renting them?

3. Isn't it less risky to buy the coins upfront and not compete with the rising hashrate and diminishing returns?

In my opinion, there is an influx of math-deficient kids and young adults spending money to buy miners in hopes of getting rich. This causes an influx of miners and less buying pressure on the actual market. In time, this influx should slow down as the general group will realize the futility of buying miners, and thus the price will begin to rise again.

Am I missing something as to the advantage of mining?

1. If the miner cost them $600 to make and they can sell it for $1,200 immediately, they mostly would rather make the immediate profit instead of taking a risk, although many of them also mine.
2. If you have to remember immediate profit vs risk of increasing difficulties
3. Usually, yes. There are many exceptions though. Such as an early BFL jalapeno was super profitable, same with an early Antminer S1 (especially overclocked) and a few other miners (Neptune? I don't remember) were super profitable for a long time.\

I personally stopped buying miner and I now just buy BTC directly due to hashrates increasing too fast and not getting a > 100% ROI

I can't say it enough..

Don't. You are going about it the wrong way.

I love Bitcoin. I tell everyone about it. To some, I know they think I'm crazy. Like if I'm trying to get them into Herbalife or some other Pyramid Scheme.

It is.
Quote

I've been in it since 2011. Back when everyone called me crazy when it was $3 per Bitcoin. Everyone came back to me after the news hype/$1000 per Bitcoin in 2013.

For argument's sake may I remind you that your account is from 2012 not 2011. (Sure you got in before that).

I owned 1/1000th of the mining network at one point this year, had 1000 Bitcoins in 2011 (yes, sold at a slightly higher price), and have done countless low cost transactions.

1/1000th of the mining network huh? Must be a great achievement.......

Anyways.. I love it, love the anonymity, I hate the banks, love freedom, love Bitcoin.

I love it too Josh, and hate the banks and all that, but you have failed to understand that there is no anonymity in Bitcoin.
There is probably a reason why you posted this thread and it is not because you love Bitcoin.
It is because you fail to understand why nobody pays attention to you - like the other early adopters.
That is because they actually understand Bitcoin.

Cheers.

Your welcome.
Now please spend some of your "wisdom" to actually help promote Bitcoin rather than your image.

I did a lot of my bitcoin trading on the bitcoin web of trust IRC wayyy before I even knew that bitcointalk.org existed. I've actually never even directly bought btc through these forums. The WoT was used wayyy more for bitcoin trades than forums in the past. With that being said I'd guess the OP also bought btc through the WoT in the beginning.

Okay thanks, I still can not see the account page, but I can login. I was trying to move half coins out of coinbase ....

It's working for me. Make sure your at the "Https" address and that the signature is valid. Are you using a VPN/proxy or Tor?

1. It's not.
2. Is he a bear? I haven't noticed. And whether or not he is a bear or bull he doesn't stay stupid shit all the time and thus is not on my short ignore list.
3. Did I ever say we won't see below $1000 again? You can't put all bulls (or bears) into the same bucket of intelligence and don't forget that even serious people say sarcastic remarks or make jokes to enjoy life a bit. And who is actually crying with these price decreases? They should see a psychiatrist and probably need a financial planner to take over their investments if they got burned that bad.
4. I don't straight up tell people to blindly follow me and buy. I tell people if they believe in bitcoins future, as I do, then buying is still a great move.
5. I don't believe in magic. But if you can't see that cryptocurrencies are here to stay....you have absolutely no foresight and I suggest that you stick to random day trading instead.

1. It is.
2. He doesn't?
3. Not literally; use your brain.
4. Ok buddy.
5. More pointless condescension.

Heh, you just proved you have/had no valid points in your previous post and obviously not in this one. Thank you for making my job easier. I will let you have the last say in the matter, but I'm done with this "discussion".

If you say anything but "up up up" and "to da moon" guaranteed you're going to offend some people on here.

Its not that.
Pretty sure it is that.

Most bears around here got into bitcoin due to media hype either around November 2013 or later and hence have only seen a downward market which is blinding them to the future of digital decentralized and programmable money. These bears are the get rick quick types that are pissed that bitcoin hasn't made them millionaires yet.

You mean like that JayJuanGee guy? Quite the bear he is.

Anyway, can you blame people for being disillusioned when all the "respected" and "reputable" permabulls on here were screaming "OMFG BUY BUY BUY WE WILL NEVER SEE BELOW 1000 AGAIN!" You know, the same guys who cry about bears when the price goes down?

People that have been around a while have been treated really well by bitcoin and have gained great wealth with more to come with time. If your a bear and hoping to "strike it rich" buy some bitcoin and wait a while FFS, shit doesn't happen overnight.

People that have been around for a while have been fortunate to see a huge bubble, but that won't stop people like you from telling new people to buy as if $100k per BTC were a foregone conclusion. Seriously, if you do have that crystal ball that assures you of that, you can probably use it to make money in a whole lot of other ways, too.

The USD, Euro, yuan and yen are in big trouble. Hopefully you diversify before everyone else also realizes this amd tries to dump their fiat at the same time. Best things to diversify into would be SDR (we can't buy this...yet), gold,  bitcoin and farming land.

I know Which I'm placing my bets on Smiley
739  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 06, 2014, 11:56:49 PM
not true.

the best strategy to make money/coins/whateva in 2014. was shorting bitcoin every time it bounces.

bears are happy.

If your shorting your making fiat. So unless your then taking that fiat and buying and holding bitcoins then your actually losing and one day you'll realize that youre a fiat bag holder.
