1441  Economy / Speculation / Re: Coinbase has sold out of bitcoins for the day. Bullish on: August 17, 2014, 06:29:41 AM
True story. I took a screen shot for the disbelievers. Bullish indeed. Now if only ethereum will stop selling all those coins.

Wow I lied. Apparently the phone app will let you try to purchase them all the way up until you confirm it and then it says it can't go through. I logged onto the web client and......

Bullish Cheesy

Whoa, Coinbase is sold out..

Quote
"Note! We've exceeded our normal buy limits for today. If you would still like to purchase you will receive the market price of bitcoin on Friday Aug 22, 2014 at 01:49AM EDT after your funds have arrived. read more

Due to higher than normal buy volumes, we are unable to provide exact price quotes right now.

Instead of pausing buys entirely, we decided to give people the option to purchase bitcoin at the market price in a few days. Once your USD funds arrive, we will exchange them to bitcoin at the market price at approximately Friday Aug 22, 2014 at 01:40AM EDT."

That's bullish right ?!?!?

Not exactly.
Smells like manipulation to me.
Coinbase can't even "provide exact price quotes right now"?
LMFAO

Isn't this very strange? I thought coinbase could always buy at exchanges to cover their btc stock.

They can't? Why? How do they cover their btc stock?

It's called front running.
They can't sell to you right now, cause they are buying for themselves.
Then they sell to you later - at a higher price, of course.

I'm able to buy on coinbase just fine right now if I wished. Troll post?
1444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How easy it is to KILL bitcoin. on: August 17, 2014, 05:15:25 AM
My interest in the internet is nothing more than testing my abilities as a penetration tester, with little or no knowledge of the victim. If you think you have thought of everything, I will create that which you never thought of.. just to prove it can be done.

I read how bitcoin is unstoppable.. wrong.

Everything required to intercept bitcoin payments is in place today, and almost worldwide. You can laugh now, but by the time this short post is finished you will realise the truth.. that bitcoin WILL fail, and not of it's own accord, but due to the fact that it is indeed a threat to any and all established currencies of the world, and hence a threat to those countries security.

Why better testers cant see this is beyond me.

First, create laws requiring interception of all traffic at the ISP level.

Second, lets give it a fictional name, like 'No Shitty Attacks' or NSA for short.

Place 'NSA Killbox' between ISP and the world. Switch to record mode.

This means A box between YOUR isp, and the rest of the world. Nothing you can do about this.

Linux users probably think they are cool and can bypass this.. no they cant. They think they can use TOR or some other ip spoofing method.. THIS is an illusion. Yeah it hides your ip from other end users, but YOUR isp has YOUR ip, period. 1. Notice we are all given static ip's now? These are postcoded. Geo tagging is applied to ALL packets leaving YOUR pc at the ISP level, they can now decide where to send ALL packets using strict filtering rules.

When it's decided bitcoin is a threat to the security of any MAJOR country, they can force the isp to re-route p2p traffic to a dns dead end. At this point they can be clear and say, you want passed here, your paying for it.. This is how to tax bitcoin.

Or I could just 2. look at the block chain for address's, write any address found there into my fresh wallet, and take all, using that dns redirect..

To all dodjy faucet owners.. lets see what your worth now that this is in print, it was implemented 4 years ago here where I live.. notice your new security? Made in Scotland.. go on, ask Richard.. B

1. I actually have a dynamic IP address that I can renew at will.
2. Good luck with that, especially considering that private addresses are never broadcasted and merely used to sign the transaction locally.
3. I agree with the other posters, it really does sound like your abusing illicit drugs.
1445  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What to do with 0.0087 btc on: August 17, 2014, 05:01:18 AM
Well in terms of investing you can just keep the coin and wait for its price to go up. You could risk it by investing in loans at BTCJam while hoping that the users pay you the interest they say they will. If you want to spend it you can search localbitcoins or coindesk for local shops that take bitcoin payments (buy yourself a soda or something).

I'm selling "Bitcoin Accepted Here" stickers as well as Orange or Black Bitcoin Symbol stickers for 0.004BTC shipped to USA if you're looking to buy something on these forums with them.
1446  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Testers needed for new free Bitcoin educational website on: August 17, 2014, 04:47:00 AM
This might be a phishing attempt. I suggest not filling the form out.
1447  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Around the World on 80 Bitcoins on: August 17, 2014, 03:53:01 AM
As far as it concerns this project i really like it and i would like to see it happen!
Actually, it's a quite silly "project".
"Gief me money, I'll travel the world" makes exactly zero sense.
Why should we chose the OP, as opposite to just anyone else, to do such a thing? If there's not a strong answer, then it's just a meaningless begging.
Does he have any special skill, knowledge, know-how, contacts, that would help him carrying it successfully?
I bet not.

The OP wasn't asking for any funds himself...he was merely stating that someone should do and we should try to crowdfund them. But for 80 Bitcoins I'd rather crowdfund a project for an amazing easy to use and mobile wallet or some service that makes it easier to use bitcoins in everyday purchases as I feel that would help bitcoin more than someone's trip.
1448  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: August 17, 2014, 03:43:10 AM
The amount of posts in this thread that I'd consider as "spam" or "useless" is unbelievable. If stunna wanted to reduce his advertising cost it would start with disallowing any posts in this thread to count towards payment (including this one).

Stunna, I also had a pretty detailed post about a day after your suggestion to doing referral only link/payouts that you should take a look at.

For all the other spam posts that will soon ensue about "when do I paid" or "when do I submit my claim", "it's the 17th where I live but only the 16 in the USA" or any other garbage like that...take a look at the OP...otherwise the simple info is here:

1. If it's the 17th, fill out the form linked on the OP, have your bitcoin address in your profile page. You CAN do the 16th if you will not be able to get on a PC on the 17th, but 17th (where ever you live!) is preferred.

2. It usually takes less than 3 days to get paid, stop posting this question every few posts.

3. If you filled out the form in the OP wrong the first time, just fill it out again and then send Stunna a PM (no need to post!) letting him know that you had to fix something in the form and you are not trying to trick him into getting a double payment.

4. People that have less than 50 posts this month will not be paid THIS month, instead your posts roll over to next month and if you then have > 50 posts you will get paid on the 17th (so they still count, but you have to wait until >50 and the 17th).

5. If you have a legit question feel free to ask, but don't abuse Stunna's willingness to pay for some of these lower quality, spammy, non-useful posts, you may stop the program for us all.
1449  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 17, 2014, 03:27:33 AM
As far as the metal trezors go, $300 is a steep price

There are no metal TREZORs at the moment, so there is no reason to discuss the (nonexistent) price. Making them is much MUCH harder than anyone here can imagine, so we decided to focus on plastic ones and making software better for the time being.
'

What about my more important topics that I listed:

...If you could either help them [Wallet32] with adding Trezor to their wallet services or convince them to do it themselves (maybe pay them a small fee?) that would be awesome. I already have an OTG cable and would love it if I could use Trezor while I'm mobile (on my phone).

I also know that mycelium is able to sweep BIP-32 keys, is there wallet capable of using trezor with a few modifications?

Having Trezor implemented with Electrum is perfect for a PC, but if you guys can add it to a mobile wallet I'll definitely purchase one myself.
1450  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 17, 2014, 02:13:32 AM
Slush is there any plan to release another metal version and if so, when and for what approximate price?

Well, originally we did not have any plans, but people are asking for that on daily basis, so we started to play with an idea to build limited batch of them. The price will be unfortunately **cking high as cases are literally hand made on CNC machines in price of ~milion euro. Hour rate is a bit higher than I'd like. Original price of Metallic was set to ~$300 and I expect that the price will be set similarly (I hope a bit lower).

Also how close are the android developers to incorporating the Trezor? And can you tell us what android wallets you are currently working with?

There's our proof-of-concept trezor-android library (https://github.com/trezor/trezor-android). Right now we're in touch with Wallet32 developers, but I don't know very actual status of their work. Wallet32 doesn't have the greatest UI, but it has pretty stable codebase and it is very close to our needs (has support of BIP44/BIP39 right now, which is amazing).

I actually wasn't even aware of any HD wallets available for the android devices so thank you for pointing me to this one. In terms of the UI, yeah it looks terrible, but it's also very functional. The logical wallets is actually a cool idea too, and I also like that they use change addresses. If you could either help them with adding Trezor to their wallet services or convince them to do it themselves (maybe pay them a small fee?) that would be awesome. I already have an OTG cable and would love it if I could use Trezor while I'm mobile (on my phone).

As far as the metal trezors go, $300 is a steep price. Are you able to bring it down to the $199 range if you order the CNC'd metal trezors in bulk? Have you looked into having a CNC school make them for you? I know they usually charge way less than professional shops and I'm sure they'd give a great discount if you bought them in a bulk order (they could see it as a means to get extra equipment or more advertising to bring in more students, rather than make a killing off you like a professional shop would want to do). Maybe setup a group purchase?

is this newbie friendly?

It doesn't look newbie friendly and at 1 watt per GH, you're going to be paying out of the ass for electricity.
1454  Economy / Speculation / Re: Been here before. on: August 16, 2014, 04:23:57 AM

I think it depends on how long you'd been around bitcoin. I'd that same feeling back in 2011 when it drop from 32 to 3 USD in a matter of a couple of days...

A couple of days  Huh

As I recall it took months to get to $3 (like about 6 mths).

Sorry if my memory isn't that accurate. But I looked up the data:

June 8-12 2011:
~32 to ~10USD
Drop: 68%

November 2011:
2 USD
Total drop: 94%

This article helps:

EDIT:

Funny to note this of that 2013 article:
Quote
Perhaps we won’t see Bitcoins worth $260 again until 2015. Or ever.

"If bitcoins are worth $500 in 2018, we’ll look back at Wednesday’s sell-off as a freak event that (like the other crashes that came before it) temporarily halted the rise toward the currency’s real value. "

I guess we beat his expectations by a good 4 years Cheesy Honestly though, I remember at $1000/coin wishing that I could have another chance to buy some more coins earlier on. Well here is that opportunity I was hoping for. I believe in the long term use of bitcoin and I will exchange my fiat for it accordingly.
1455  Economy / Speculation / Re: reason of price drop : Chinese exchanges dont have proof of 100% reserve on: August 16, 2014, 03:20:50 AM
If people thought that chinese exchanges were selling them non-existent coins, the way to quickly find out if its true or not is for people to pull their BTC off of the exchanges and see if all the sudden they run into "technical difficulties" and stop withdrawls.

Why they reluctant to withdraw ? because the situation is some of them provide interest of storing bitcoins by lending and borrowing (or some similar  finance product )on their platform . This strategy really works on many greedy guys  .

Does Okcoin or huobi offer interest? (I doubt it) If not, then it must just be some smaller exchanges which would count for only very little fake trades.

Yes , they offer interest . OK has bishengbi project , huobi has bitvc.com

Hm... Can you show me the link (so I can have it translated online) where okcoin and huobi state that their deposits (on their exchange) are given interest? I also though Huobi was a fee-free exchange, so I have no idea how they could possibly afford that.

Price for all 3 is 0.18BTC.

Arnbrd, I sent you a PM.

1458  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Looking to sell 10.234 BTC on: August 16, 2014, 03:10:50 AM
If you're actually new, be careful with selling your bitcoins for paypal. Once you send the bitcoins to the person, they can claim their paypal was hacked and they can have the paypal money transfer reversed....leaving you with no bitcoins and no paypal money. Bitcoin transactions are NOT reversible. You will get many Private messages today from people trying to scam you. BEWARE.

Can anyone tell me if it's okay if I use this signature? updated it myself, thought I'd bring some new colors to the table. Tongue

As mentioned, ref links aren't currently allowed but changing your design is perfectly fine.

If anyone sees this please read this and share your opinion:

I'm toying around with the idea of having a set group of people who I've personally deemed are high quality posters to continue to get paid per post count and branching off the campaign to allow anyone to join on and off instantly and use a PD3 referral link which will automatically credit their account (I'd likely boost the referral rate to something like 20%+ for those not being paid per post)

I'm confident doing this would greatly cut down on forum spam, while the very high quality posters who I select would have the option to continue the campaign as it exists privately or swap to a referral based payment.

This isn't at all decided, so feel free to weigh in.

Hello Stunna,

I would personally like to continue our affiliation via the pay per post plan, rather than by referral. Sure I could get really lucky and have a whale (or many "dolphins") register via my affiliate link and make a killing, but at the same time the guaranteed bitcoin income from posting is more appealing to me (If my posts are deemed to be of higher quality).

Alternatively you could implement a system that benefits yourself as well as your posters by doing the following.

1. Allow PD referral links in signature links (special type of link that requires you to authorize its disbursement)
2. Continue to have a set pay-per-post rate
3. At the end of each month the affiliate gets to choose the higher of the two pay amounts (did they make more in referrals or on a per-post basis?), whichever is higher the affiliate receives.

Now at first this sounds like it would be disadvantageous to you, but let me explain. If a poster is bringing in large betters (and thus making you more money) that affiliate should receive more profit than an affiliate that brings in no gamblers for you. Or if an affiliate makes high quality posts and thus promotes brand recognition for you, they should receive more than a shitty poster that may make PD look bad.

Conclusions: We bring in big gamblers, we both win. We make a lot of high quality posts and build your brand reputation? We both win.

I used to bet on just-dice, but honestly I haven't seen their ads in so long, that I completely forgot about them. I rarely bet myself, but when I do, I use Primedice Smiley

Just my 2 cents on the matter. Let me know what you think.
