1561  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-15] Wallstreet Catching The Bitcoin Bug on: July 16, 2014, 06:34:07 AM
We are still in such an early phase of bitcoin that honestly a few years from now $660 will look super cheap. Invest in some coins, just not more than you can afford to lose. Then hold for 2+ years -> Profit.
1562  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-16] Data Breach Bulletin: Silk Road Bitcoin Prospective Bidder Loses $6 on: July 16, 2014, 06:30:47 AM
http://www.forbes.com/sites/katevinton/2014/07/15/data-breach-bulletin-silk-road-bitcoin-bidder-loses-62000-to-phishing-scheme/

Silk Road Phishing – Three weeks ago, I reported on a breach that seemed more embarrassing than actually concerning—the U.S. Marshals Service accidentally CC’d 40 potential Silk Road Bitcoin bidders instead of BCC’ing them. Thanks to a phishing scheme that took advantage of this slipup, though, an Australian bidder lost 100 Bitcoin—worth an estimated $62,000—according to SC Magazine. Several of the 40 email recipients received a phishing email on June 21st, from someone who (falsely) claimed to be from BitFirm Productions, according to MoneyBeat. The email asked the recipient to participate in a survey for a media client, and those who agreed received a link to what was supposed to be a GoogleDoc. Instead, the link contained malware. When Sam Lee, co-founder of Bitcoins Reserve in Australia, clicked the link, his computer was infected with malware, allowing hackers to transfer 100 Bitcoin out of his account. Moral of the story? Don’t click links in emails. Just don’t do it.

One of the biggest problems there is why did he store 100 bitcoins on the same PC he uses to check his email etc with?

When you say "WE" do you think we are still in an early adoption phase? I mean how early in the game are we still?
1565  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation supports economic growth. Prove otherwise in this thread! on: July 04, 2014, 10:11:49 PM
Inflation is good for borrow's since you pay the money back with dollars that are not worth as much and it hurts people with savings. Deflation is good for creditors and people with savings as their dollars are worth more tomorrow than they are worth today.

Some small inflation can be good, but when you look at how acutely the monetary base has skyrocketed, this is a problem.

The monetary base is still increasing at an alarming rate, whether its parked with the fed, in my savings account or stuffed in someones mattress, the fact remains the same: It's increasing rapidly.

1567  Economy / Economics / Re: Please stop with mBTC, microBTC, ...! on: July 03, 2014, 03:49:41 PM
Gotta agree with this or just wrote the whole sum. I have problems with remembering rate or mBTC myself.

But you can remember that one satoshi is 0.0000064 dollars? wtf. Right now with the current value of a bitcoin being around $640, 1 mBTC is 0.64 aka 64 cents, which is pretty reasonable to remember.

When the purchasing power of a single bitcoin goes through the roof then we can start moving to smaller increments. For now, mBTC works just as well as talking in terms of a full coin.
1568  Economy / Speculation / Re: NEWEGG ACCEPTS BITCOIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: July 01, 2014, 11:59:16 AM
Overstock has no where near the amount of computer parts that newegg does.
1569  Economy / Speculation / Re: NEWEGG ACCEPTS BITCOIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: July 01, 2014, 11:07:31 AM
EBay is next, mark my words.

Ebay will not intentionally kill paypal.

Right. But ebay can use paypal as an escrow for bitcoin payments and take a small bitcoin fee. Think of what bitmit used to be: both a marketplace and a fund escrow for the transactions.

Hi,
Everything is stabilized today Smiley
I was to Fibank for my business account and checked verything is ok. No waiting on long tales anymore Smiley Please calm down

Buy extra food and supply just in case.

That is actually a great point. I'd suggest stocking up on WATER and canned food, everyone always forgets water (and you'll die from dehydration before starvation). You'd be surprised how much water/canned food even $40 USD can get you. Oh and make sure you neighbors don't see you stocking up on supplies Tongue
1571  Economy / Economics / Re: What can you buy that's legal with only bitcoins? Mining Hardware Excluded! on: July 01, 2014, 10:51:05 AM
You can now buy pc and gadget from newegg.

OMG! Check out newegg's homepage http://www.newegg.com/  WHERE HAVE I BEEN? Finally my favorite hardware retailer accepts it!
1572  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who believes in $10,000 a coin? on: July 01, 2014, 10:49:16 AM
It will happen easily. I give it max of 3 years before $10,000 per Bitcoin will have been considered "cheap". My 3 year hopes for Bitcoin is $50,000.
1573  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: July 01, 2014, 10:45:32 AM
From what I see after mining with these guys for 6 months at 12 cents per Kw and 50% difficulty increase per month, you'd make a grand total profit of 0.09BTC. Currently difficulty projections are low after the adjustment, but just wait as these S3's + other mining equipment hits the market it'll go back up to 50%+ a month IMO.

1574  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB : Antminer S1 / RasPi / PSU on: June 29, 2014, 01:12:36 PM
If you're not comfortable with criticisms I suggest making a new most that is self-moderated. If you want more interest I'd suggest bumping up the price you're willing to pay per Antminer....that's all I'm trying to say.

I'm done here now that, that's all cleared up, unless of course you make another false conclusion or random statement that sparks my interest.

Good luck with your sell though, people will definitely be selling the S1's cheap soon Cheesy
1575  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB : Antminer S1 / RasPi / PSU on: June 29, 2014, 01:03:40 PM
Antminers easily sell on eBay for $150 to high rep members that prob wont chargeback etc. $90 seems low, especially since they will still mine about 0.46BTC over their lifetime, 0.16 in just the next month and 0.10 the month after.

How am i going to charge back with BTC? Please just leave, i even offered escrow...

WTF? I never said you would or could chargeback? I'm saying that a person could sell their antminer to a reputable person on eBay in fiat without any problems, instead of selling it to you for 0.15 bitcoins which the miner will make within a month.

It's interesting how you derived your conclusion though. It's so obvious that bitcoin transactions are not reversible that I'm surprised you didn't further ponder on what the meaning could be.
1576  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Thinking develop a dice casino. What do you think? on: June 29, 2014, 12:37:04 PM
There are already a LOT of dice bitcoin casinos out there already, so competition will be really tough. You will also have to prove that your game is provably fair and HOPE that the person that wrote your script didn't leave a backdoor/bugs AND that no one else will find an error in the code that allows them to withdraw Bitcoins without being authorized etc. The alternative is to not allow automatic withdraws, which then comes with the price of having to approve withdraws (or automatic sends after each bet) yourself or risk having no business.

You might want to block out the account name so Riot doesn't ban you for selling it.
1579  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next Bull Run (questions) on: June 29, 2014, 09:54:42 AM
I have some questions that I cannot answer myself so I invite you to post your opinions

1. Are we in a situation that needs only a spark to ignite a new rally? If so, what could it be? Buttefly effect?
Yes.

A) Discounts for purchases made in Bitcoin, especially if it's a big retailer like Walmart or Target.

B)Bitpay's program to allow post-tax working income to buy bitcoins.

C) Bankruptcy of a country and it switching to Bitcoin.

D) Rapid Inflation.

E) Extensive quantitative easing.

2. If there will be rally, could it start by let's say August (~250 days after the last big one)?
Definitely

3. Will the rally be less powerful (ie 2-3x price increase) than the last one, because not so many newcomers and also because many think it will be a huge rally?
Probably the same as previous rallies or a bit smaller if its due to a small change. If it's due to a country going bankrupt and switching to bitcoin and the media protreys bitcoin as the money safe haven, then get ready for an explosion

4. Could the rally be bigger because now it's even more exposure of Bitcoin (USMS auction, press) and people know it's the best way to make some easy money?
Yes

5. Could we be at the saturation point of bitcoin usage by masses (my personal argument is that many people heard of bitcoin but very few afford or are interested to own)
No way, we are at just the begining

1580  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 29, 2014, 08:54:46 AM
I mean there is not much uncertainty about the difficulty increase just 30 minutes before it, wasn´t meant in any way to be mean.

It could even have been that buyers bought slightly over market price, as the market price is only valid for very low volume.

It will not be an easy decision for them. Is this 25% the new norm for the next few months or is it an anomaly. That will take some guessing on their part, but will be a part of the decision making on any price designed for high ROI ( to use their words ).

Bitcoin Difficulty:   16,818,461,371
Estimated Next Difficulty:   20,876,199,657 (+24.13%)
https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

Looking to be a trend.

And now with everyones BTC per day income taking a dump, the fervor should rise to drive people to buy more than one miner at least.

I really think this one could go in either direction. Without a massive decrease in heat production and watt usage the decrease in bitcoins/day/Gh may actually bring people to buy less miners and just buy bitcoin directly instead. Especially for hobbyist and people that run miners in their homes as compared to a dedicated colocation site.
