761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to answer when asked "Can I make money mining bitcoin?" on: May 23, 2020, 03:27:32 AM
What do you even answer when someone asks
"can I make money mining bitcoin?"

NO   is the correct Answer.

Anyone telling you different is bullshitting you.

I agree with this but it's a little too much. I'd say stay away from Bitcoin right now and mine other altcoins if you want to profit as a small time miner. With Bitcoin halving done, the reward is split by 50% and with that, most miners just doesn't want to mine again while waiting for the difficulty to lower. Unless you have a next to free electricity cost, mining Bitcoin right now is not profitable. Maybe it will get profitable again when Bitcoin's price starts rising above the current price.
762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: McAfee Introduce a new privacy coin on: May 22, 2020, 06:12:29 AM
McAfee will airdrop a new privacy coin called Ghost to holders of ESH.
25% of supply will go to ESH holders.
At current price, ESH token's market cap is $17M. The valuation of ESH is merely what people expect GHOST to be worth.
If 25% of GHOST is worth $17M , McAfee's new privacy coin has a net valuation of $68M.
Since this is from a scammer who promoted scams in the past i doubt how well this new venture will survive. McAfee proved that he cannot be trusted and i will be surprised if this new coin will attract investors, he can airdrop anything and investors will dump the coin and anyone who listened to McAfee in the past and invested and burned their hands will not trust anything he says.

Investors can smell money out of this one so I'm pretty sure a lot of people will invest in that coin. Not to mention that he is a well known person who likes to hype and pump coins so there's no doubt that he will do whatever it takes to pump his new coins. I doubt that it will last long though. I'm not a supporter of that person because of his lies but I might invest a small amount just for the pump he is planning to do.
763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is just a brand name :( on: May 22, 2020, 05:53:59 AM
What is the practical use of gold, silver and diamonds(other than making jewelry)?
Bitcoin is just a piece of programming code, gold and silver are just shiny metals.
Both are practically useless, but they are considered valuable because:
1.They have limited supply(scarcity).
2.Their mining is very expensive, therefore their price is high.
That's why gold and silver were used as currencies in the past and that's why bitcoin is suitable to be the currency of the future.
Bitcoin being just a brand name?Altcoins that are better compared to Bitcoin? Can you mention a few?
OP,you sound like one of those hidden altcoin supporters, who like to s*it over Bitcoin,in order to praise their favorite altcoin. Grin

Gold is used for electrical components, silver is used for wares and others things I'm not familiar with. IIRC, one of diamonds uses is for cutting glasses cleanly. So I do think that they have practical use meaning your point is kind of pointless.

Let's not forget that there are hundreds of ways to transact money in a safe and fast way but what separates Bitcoin from the others is that Bitcoin is decentralized and semi-anonymous. Because of it's technological feature, many believe they they will have freedom over their own money which is true in this case because of how there's no one who can control our own Bitcoin except for us while unlike on banks, they can freeze your account even with a slight hint of danger in your account (even if it's false).

So basically, they have uses that people find valuable. Although there are altcoins that can transact faster than Bitcoin, let's not forget that almost all of them are controlled by developers, not by a community.
764  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Small Business that accept bitcoin or cyptocurrency here in PH, worth it ba? on: May 22, 2020, 04:33:09 AM
Interesting thread. Honestly I've never ever seen a "bitcoin accepted" sign anywhere in the Philippines.
Any list of shops accepting btc payments in Manila?

EDIT
I clicked on some of the links in the OP and almost all of them are associated with promotion of scammy coins such as xrp, bch, steem, "yolocoin" whatever that is.
SAD!

765  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Small Business that accept bitcoin or cyptocurrency here in PH, worth it ba? on: May 21, 2020, 05:02:48 AM
Anyone heard of Crypto cafe in iloilo City? Makikita nyo ito sa SM second floor. Might add that in the post kung gusto mo OP.  Grin
https://kathyvillalon.blogspot.com/2019/06/the-birth-of-crypto-cafe-and.html

766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Up by 16% Post Halving on: May 21, 2020, 04:14:19 AM
IMO Bitcoin price isn't affected by halving, pump and dump is normal in cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is high volatility, the price can change around 30%/day. Many people are always expecting bitcoin will bullish after halving. I won't surprise while Bitcoin is in bullish, many journalists will create a good news by correlating the price with halving. It's not always from halving FOMO, but supply and demand in markets.

Yes, it is affected by halving because this event creates hype for the investors to talk about which will result into pump and later dump in a later date. You said it yourself, this journalist will try to hype this event as much as possible to start FOMO all over the place. I doubt it will continue though, we might see some dump later and an increase in price surpassing $12,000 in 5-6 months.
767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Does Bitcoin Have Value? on: May 21, 2020, 03:44:35 AM
Bitcoin has value because it is a coin widely known worldwide. I don't think there is any possibility of Bitcoin going down to 0 because the demand for Bitcoin is increasing day by day. As the demand increases, so does the value of Bitcoin. As long as there is demand and use, its value will remain the same. I hope that in the near future Bitcoin will play an important role in international trade and transactions.

I don't think Bitcoin is valuable because it is widely known? What about the days where people don't know Bitcoin and only few knows it? what value did they saw to mine Bitcoin? you see, it's not Bitcoins popularity but utility and it's technology that brings people to use it. Without it's semi-anonymous feature and its decentralization, then people wouldn't even bat an eye.
768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Which trading platforms do you use? on: May 20, 2020, 03:52:05 AM
Does anyone have a suggestion for a good trading platform? I am looking for something that offers useful tools and indicators but is not expensive. Currently, I am using a bunch of different sites, because I don't get everything on just one. Any info would be appreciated.
KuCoin, Binance are a top tier exchanges for me, they provide a great support and top coins for your trading needs unlike other exchanges where the market itself is full of bots.
Poloniex and Bittrex were my preferred exchanges, but after they implemented KYC on their sites I stopped using those sites.
I am more in agreement with Kucoin and Binance to be the best exchange platform because trading movements and trading volumes in these two markets are very different from the best and most reliable exchange places.

The thing here is that Kucoin doesn't ask for KYC so it's probably one of the best exchange out there if you don't want to file your information to the exchanges. If you are not sure and want some safe exchanges based on history, then Poloniex is your bet. They've been probably the least amount that is scammed and it was way back them, probably 2014? I don't remember but it was a long time ago where they got breached and they have a tight security right now. KYC is kind of a bother though.
769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whales are busy accumulating Ethereum, but Analysts claim it’ll fall. on: May 20, 2020, 02:58:50 AM
Analyst here, analyst there, they always say something that is doesn't even close to coming true. To be honest, with Ethereum going for reddit too, a lot of people or potential investors might get introduced to cryptocurrency which will pump Eth price for a short-term. I'd just stay away from "expert" analyst because they will clog your judgement. Just observe Bitcoin price for now.
770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Share your stategy how to grow bitcoin on: May 20, 2020, 02:03:41 AM
I'd go with LogitechMouse first 2 options because that is probably the safest way to earn Bitcoin or at least other cryptocurrency like Ethereum. If you have skills to sell, then try doing it for free in the Service Section to build your portfolio. You can also try to work hard in bounty hunting to see if you will be lucky to get a decent pay.

Overall, it's not easy to get Bitcoin, it all depends on how hard you work and of course, luck.
771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins on Binance may have gotten a boost from Coinmarketcap on: May 19, 2020, 09:28:31 AM
Although they did a move that will benefit them more, at least they are able to weed out those websites who are faking their volumes. Changing it by traffic isn't really bad since Binance is probably the most popular exchange right now. I don't really care if what their changes will benefit them as long as they are staying true to giving the users the most accurate data that we will need.
772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins for 2020 on: May 19, 2020, 03:44:13 AM
I'd say you stay in the top 50 altcoins because that is where you will get profit when cryptocurrency starts going up again.

The thing here is that, all cryptocurrency out there just follows the price of Bitcoin. If Bitcoin where to fall, all cryptocurrency will fall down in price too. If Bitcoin where to raise in price, then it's a 50/50 chance that altcoins will follow Bitcoin price too. So it's a little bit risky to invest in other unknown altcoins to be honest. Except for stablecoin of course.
773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best stablecoin right now? on: May 18, 2020, 03:54:47 AM
Not all stablecoin are based on fiats, there are some stablecoins like GOLD that you might check out. They've been running for almost a year now and they've been doing great on the project and the community. They also have real gold stored that you can 24/7 check in their website. The token supply also goes 1:1 with the gold stored in their vault so I'd say they are going for a long-term run.

Always remember though. There's no best stablecoin, there's just convenient one that will suit your need.
774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk Reveals How much Bitcoins he Hold on: May 18, 2020, 03:20:54 AM
Having him on the good side of cryptocurrency doesn't mean he holds a lot of it. Maybe he sees the potential in the future that is why he is only holding a few for now? Because I don't think he needs cryptocurrency because of his status. But remember this, even though he doesn't hold much, at least he is still promoting Bitcoin in a good way.
775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For me Bitcoin never changed! on: May 17, 2020, 01:08:20 AM
Any fork that will surpass Bitcoin?
When viewed in terms of transaction speed and costs there may be but not in terms of price. Although bitcoin forks can provide convenience for users such as low transaction costs, faster and more efficient transaction times, but I am sure Bitcoin will always be the number one digital currency in the context of usage, price and market capitalization.

I totally agree. I usually use doge as a way to transact from exchange to exchange because of low fee. Bitcoin is like the face of cryptocurrency. The king and the absolute ruler because no one controls it, no one can control it. Also, Bitcoin is more secure to attacks than other altcoins and more secure than those fake forks.
776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Electroneum TOPS +450% ROI in last 30 DAYS! on: May 17, 2020, 01:07:49 AM
I don't know much about ETN but the last time I heard from them was they are launching a freelancing platform. Maybe that's probably hyped the coin? I tried registering last time but was still a problem. I might have to check this out later since their Anytask project is really promising.
777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency crime in Netherlands. on: May 17, 2020, 12:00:58 AM
So always be careful when visiting and trying some unfamiliar websites, always do research about it and read some reviews to assure yourself that it is legit.

I think that's not the point because the scammers are copying another legit website which I think people have already done researched in and that is how people was getting fooled. This is just one of those classic phishing. One people should look into is the credentials of the website and if the certificate is legit. That is how people will know if that is a fake website or not. Also, always save your website so you won't get fooled.
Just for a count they are not copying other's website, they are simply altering the names of brand so it would look very much alike to the original one on which I think gullible people are always prone to falling into. This is a classic phishing scam that's why companies now are not just buying a single domain for their websites, they are also buying possible alteration of their website name. I haven't encountered being scammed by this kind of phishing website because I always use a bookmark in web pages.

Yes, it's the same. They are copying the name, the brand and everything that the original have in order to fool the users so I stand by my argument that they are copying. Also, I don't think they are buying alternative domain for their website because that would confuse the users more. They are more like trying to promote their only website so the users can just bookmark it and don't be fooled by other fakes.

Seriously, I don't know why people keep making this kind of mistake. Why is it that people don't check whether the site they are creating an account on is legit or not? There are lots of scammers out there and this is no longer a new thing. These ones have been caught, but are they the only ones? No they are not, there are still a lot of them out there doing the same and they will not all be caught, so this will continue.

It's up to the people to learn how to avoid these fake websites ,and they can do this by doing proper research before investing. Anyone that wants to create an account on any site should make sure that the website has the ‘https’ or padlock sign on the URL, if not, then you should proceed with care. Do your research and look for the right URL to the website.

You just have to understand them. Not all people are computer literate and this type of people are the target of this scammers.
778  Economy / Speculation / Re: Personally i think bitcoin is future on: May 16, 2020, 04:15:13 AM
I don't see anything that explains why do you personally think bitcoin is the future.

Quoting people's guesstimates on what will be the price of bitcoin short-term does not secure bitcoin being the future of money, nor even explain why bitcoin is t he future. It can always go higher than Mt. Everest but if people and the world's attention is not directed to it, and develop it into something useful for their own gain, it will never be the future. Perhaps short-term people can see its worth as replacement for cash due to the pandemic, but again, how many merchants and services are really accepting bitcoin these days?

I'm not a non-believer but I just want logical answers on rhetorical questions that seem to never end in this forum.

The thing here is that this type of predictions gives hopes to a type of person like OP. I mean, who gives a shit about mcafee anyway? he already back down from his words and we won't be seeing his dick getting eaten live at television anymore (It's a joke, chill).

Looking at the news article above, even $50,000 is still a pipe dream at the end of 2020 because of the dilemma we are having right now like when is difficulty going to adjust for the miners to start profiting again? how will this crisis we are having right now will affect the future market? The future is still unpredictable.
779  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not follow every market wave on: May 16, 2020, 03:21:14 AM
I only have a few rule in buying and selling. Buy when the market is bleeding and sell when the market is getting hyped. I know it is risky but the risk lessen if you know what asset you are dealing with. I still remember when the market bleeds at $5,000, that was the perfect time for holders to buy more Bitcoin. Now look at the price we are currently at. Do not be controlled by FUD and FOMO, just study the market history and the current market, that is how you will profit.
780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternative after bitcoin halving on: May 16, 2020, 02:39:02 AM
You can switch to ethereum or Monero, these are the most profitable to mine, you can use this calculator to find out yourself, https://whattomine.com ,if you are using CPU based miners then go for Monero, it's more CPU friendly than GPUs

I think even Ethereum it not even worth it right now. I don't know much what is happening but the fees are sky rocketing.

I don't know what bitcoin cache is but if you are talking about Bitcoin cash, I'd stay away from this pump and dump coin because they aren't really decentralized and things could change quickly. I'd go for a stable one like Monero but take note that some exchanges are delisting Monero because of its anonymity.
