7781  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase seizing accounts on: September 19, 2017, 06:43:52 PM
OP, your ignorance is astounding.  Coinbase is one of the most regulated exchanges in existence.  That's why they'll nuke your account if you use bitcoin to gamble, and all sorts of other reasons.  I can't stand them as an exchange, but they won't get away with scamming anybody like Mt.Gox or cryptsy did.  The US government would be all over their ass.

Exactly what part of the U.S. Govt is/will be all over Coinbase's ass for having lost my coins?  Yes, I'm ignorant for using CoinBase, I admit that.

The SEC I think. But It's not going to happen whit only 1 customer. It will need t be thousand and thousands of people to make it clear that their goal is to rip off the coins from people. The SEC (or any institution) doesn't move up their ass for peanuts.
It's near impossible for Coinbase to "scam" people, it's one of the advantage to use regulated exchanges
7782  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Plastic cryptocurrency VISA card to use in Canada? on: September 17, 2017, 06:30:58 PM
Most of those Visa prepaid cards are issued by WaveCrest/MyChoice. It was possible for North American citizens before. But during the end of August, the company has been bought by VISA intl and since Visa decided to provide their service to European citizens only.

For sure BitPay, Advcash, Bitwala, etc are looking for an alternative as lot of their customers are restricted to get access to a bitcoin prepaid card. The problem is that it can take a long time.

As for now the only one that offers cards not issued by WaveCrest/Mychoice is WageCan and their golden card

Really ?

The minimum amount of the deposit is $10 or €10.

it is bad.

Are you serious, 10 $/€ is too much?  Who makes deposits of 2€? With 10€/$ you buy cigarettes and it's gone, only 2-3€ left Cheesy
10$/€ is a very low amount for people from Tier 1 and Tier 2 countries. So I wouldn't say it is "bad" as you say, I don't see the problem
7784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US to remove taxes on bitcoin! more bitcoin=currency stuff on: September 17, 2017, 01:23:56 PM
Useless since none of the American citizens is paying taxes. Last week I saw a title of an article saying only 82 citizens pay the taxes on Bitcoin following a report from the IRS. Such new is not going to motivate more people to use Bitcoin, they just don't care about it, it's not going to change anything for them
7785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keep calm: The bitcoin is stronger on: September 17, 2017, 12:17:07 AM
Bitcoin price is growing bit by bit and it will get to the previous level or even higher in few days.

I really doubt it's going to come back to what it was wiyhin just a few days. It will take months and without considering november which will surely make the value less again... I wouldn't be so optimistic about bitcoin this days. But I hope to be wrong of course
7786  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How do you buy Bitcoins at Wal-Mart? on: September 15, 2017, 11:46:12 PM
The day Walmart decides to sell Bitcoin it will be all over the news for over 1 month. It will be a real bomb for the Bitcoin value. I guess you confused with something else. A site selling gift cards for bitcoin, a site buying you Walmart order for bitcoin (a la Purse.io)
The site you mention (bitinstant.com ) is redirecting to https://www.weusecoins.com/en/how-buy-bitcoins-online-best-bitcoin-exchange-rate-bitcoin-price/ listing websites where it's possible to buy bitcoins
7787  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto Exchange Affiliate Program? on: September 15, 2017, 11:16:23 PM
- cryptopia.co.nz has a referral system but I don't remember very well about it. I think it is 10% per user trade fees converted to DOT
- livecoin.net 10% based on the user trade fees up to 50% https://www.livecoin.net/partnership
- coss.io Based on the 30-day trading volume in USD, 10% of your referrals volume also count as your volume.

7788  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [LIST] Free EU bank accounts that you can be opened directly online on: September 15, 2017, 09:52:31 PM
I clearly asked if we are able to receive funds coming from companies related to crypto currencies (ie; bitcoin)
I doubt they have a "blacklist" of  crypto-companies whose transfers they deny, especially since it says nothing of the sort in their FAQ, etc. The main thing that interests me is if outgoing SEPA transfers are in the card/account holder's name or in their company's name. If in our name then sending/receiving to Kraken/Bitstamp/GDAX shouldn't be a problem. Maybe ask this directly without mentioning crypto/bitcoin/exchanges?

I haven't received any reply from VeritasCard yet... Maybe you could try, since I assume you speak French?

Not really. The problem is they don't have a blacklist of crypto-companies true that, they will be happy to accept but the thing they need to obey to the banks that they are in partnership with. If a bank says no then they have to follow this requirement.
If the IBAN is in your name it doesn't mean you can deal with crypto companies with no problem. Take a look at Transferwise, they do have personal IBAN but can't accept transactions with crypto companies

I got a reply from VeritasCard, confirming that outgoing SEPA transactions are in your name, meaning you can use it for crypto exchanges, etc.

They even have bitcoin as a payment option for your yearly fee, although greyed out for me for some reason...
Yes, since their FAQ says something like: we can't receive/send Bitcoin, Litecoin etc but you can sell your coins on any exchange platform and then request a transfer to your Veritas account...
The bitcoin as a payment option greyed may be because the account needs to be verified.

7789  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Accepting BTC as payments with company on: September 15, 2017, 08:26:43 PM
Bitwala.io lets you generate an invoice and to be paid in Bitcoin and others currencies. So you charge your services/products using Bitcoin as a currency and get credited in BTC in your wallet (no conversion to fiat) I know you mentioned that you don't like hosted wallets because of the keys but I thought it might be good to mention it because they give you the private keys when you create your wallet there, at least for the personal accounts so I guess for business too
https://www.bitwala.com/business/

Thank you.

It's a great suggestion ... but what I don't want is for someone else to have access to my private keys.

I suppose I could always transfer to another address after I get it, but that would also use up some of the BTC to do so.

Yeah, you will eat some fees doing this. But the good point is they don't have access to your keys for security reasons, for you and them. When you create a wallet they tell you about it before you click the "create a wallet" button. They let you save your keys, you can download a PDF with everything about the keys. After that, they won't be able to access or tell you the keys. You are the only one.
7790  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitwala - Pay Your Bills With Bitcoin in Europe on: September 15, 2017, 07:57:17 PM
Bitwala, thanks for implementing the multi wallets feature, I noticed it this week only, it was something I always wanted to have. It's good to see continuous improvements from Bitwala.io. Who knows maybe a day we will have our dedicated IBAN  Grin ...
What about adding a feature that auto sell/transfer our bitcoins to our bank account: For exemple, my wallet receive bitcoin and it gets sold and transfered to my bank account (after setting a minimum amount) at the current rate the day of the transaction. (considering we set for example a 250$ minimum to trigger the SEPA transfer out, once I sold for 250$ Bitwala makes the transfer)

Hi LeGaulois,

Thank you for your feedback Smiley. We love hearing that our improvements are noticed and appreciated by our users. I like your idea with an automated payout function.

My train of thought in regards to your idea:
It would only work if Bitwala had access to users private keys and this is something that brings a lot of potential "issues" with it. At the moment Bitwala can't access anybody's funds and this is the highest level of security that can be offered. It means we as a company can't be pressured by any individual, group or governmental institution to access anybody's funds. Furthermore, no hacker could ever access any of our user's wallets by attacking our site or servers.

I guess it is a question of how small the minimum amount to trigger a payout would be and if users were willing to accept the "issues" that could occur. How would you decide?

Best regards,

Robert @Bitwala

Hi Robert,

I forgot to consider the part with the keys. As Bitwala has no access to users keys, it is one of the good points to use Bitwala.io.
But what about if the users need to create a separate wallet to enable this feature, or create another wallet with this feature sets by default? It can be something great for individuals but it can be also useful for businesses, for example, those who are worried about the volatility in crypto.
For me, I would create a second wallet where each coin received is sold at the rate of the day, and set the wallet to send me a SEPA once it reaches 100 euros at least (minus fees)
7791  Economy / Economics / Re: The many FUDs of Jamie Dimon exposed on: September 15, 2017, 07:24:45 PM
I don't think that his latest comment about Bitcoin had an effect to what we are seeing this week. People are laughing more than anything else... China latest news is what made the panic during this week. Many people have not even heard about his comment, nor they know who he is. If it's the case then he is welcome to talk as long as he wants about Bitcoin
7792  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Trusted exchanget BTC to Payoneer ? on: September 15, 2017, 06:56:44 PM
Payoneer terms don't allow activities related to digital currencies. You can see in their Policy. SO in case you find any, it will be at the risk to lose your account, your money frozen. Ans with Payoneer you can receive money only from companies listed and with a partnership with them
7793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good News - China on: September 15, 2017, 11:34:44 AM
Not a bad new but unfortunately the time to be spread other people will continue to spread wrong infos. I saw a title on Cointelegraph saying Chineese bitcoin exchange have to close by 30 september. It will need a huge communication to say that finally they just need a licence.

@klien_br Can you tell me what is the exchange you talked to in the screenshot you posted? I would like to rea their new they are talking about
7794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin UP: bitcoin is awesome; Down: bitcoin is shit and fraud on: September 15, 2017, 11:18:47 AM
Those news papers are mainly looking to get traffic/readers. They need to find something to say about anything, and when you're a journalist it's not always easy to find something (useful at least)0 So they just follow the trend and turn it into a soap opera. At this current situation, they can not really publish articles saying Bitcoin is swag.
Now there are people reading them and following them (no matter if the journalists are not specialized in crypto  market...) and there are people reading them and ignoring their stories
7795  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Blockchain Car history verification system on: September 14, 2017, 08:48:02 PM
A project like this already exist, but I don't know if they already started to make something concrete. Worldline created a blockchain for the car market... The cars are included in this open book. Then, each check or repair carried out on the vehicle will be entered in the blockchain.

So no matter from where you buy the car you are still able to know exactly what the car got since its birth
7796  Economy / Economics / Re: CHINA will halts all Bitcoins exchange.... on: September 14, 2017, 08:19:33 PM
Just now... China has declared a halt to Bitcoins exchange and operations by October... The price of Bitcoins has partially drop due to the news... However, if we can equal the population of Bitcoins user in China and invite a lot of investors... I think Bitcoin will still survive.... Hope so....

The biggest exchanges in China stated that they have never receive any directives regarding this. The Chineese govt already said that it is not against bitcoin at all, and in fact they are not close mind about it. I don't think you searched a lot about this, maybe you saw 1-2 posts here and just repeat. They are a lot of people like you who are misinforming others, resulting in people on panic mode, selling their coins, making the value failing...

7798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC is dead. The plan is a shift to Bitcoin Cash. on: September 14, 2017, 06:38:45 PM
Bitcoin is dead every 6 months about. Maybe Bitcoin has a subscription to a funeral service? It may be good to cancel it to avoid such statement. The irony is you are just trying to push Bitcoin cash against Bitcoin as you often do in the forum, but the thing you forgot to tell to people is that Bitcoin Cash is failing more than Bitcoin

7800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BItcoin end or destroy in this month?? on: September 14, 2017, 05:46:27 PM
China is not really the one to blame, or at least not the only one. Traders are taking profits, people are panic selling, traders was well are wet of panic. About 60$ Billion disappeared from total market cap. It can take months to recover (without considering the November event). Long term holders, keep holding. Weak hands, keep selling

Quote
the majority of traders in China and other major markets such as the US, Japan and South Korea are still unaware that BTCC closed its trading platform voluntarily and other leading exchanges including Huobi and OKCoin, the two largest exchanges in China, are operating normally.

Quote
Chinese bitcoin and cryptocurrency news source CnLedger confirmed with OKCoin and Huobi representatives that they have not heard any new directives from the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) and Chinese financial regulators.

“Also note that BTCC previously listed ICO-Coin, a token specifically used to raise funds in ICO projects, issued by co-founder Yang. OKCoin and Huobi said they have not received notice from regulators and are operating normally,” said CnLedger.

Quote
It is likely that a panic sell-off by traders in China, South Korea, US and Japan caused the abrupt price drop as they mistakenly understood the closure of BTCC to a nationwide ban on bitcoin exchanges. It is important for traders and investors to understand that the ultimate plan of the PBoC and Chinese regulators is to provide and offer a licensing program for exchanges, not ban trading platforms.
