This may be in the "longshot" category, but have you tried it on a linux computer? I had a USB exhibiting similar behavior. I could only access it using Ubuntu.

Not that I would know about war driving, but...   Wink
You can also capture enough traffic to calculate a password. It may take 2gig. of data however. On a little used system that could take a while.
8443  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone know of a good high temp ceramic? on: May 02, 2012, 06:47:01 PM
I once saw someone melt aluminum in an old coffee cup. He had unwound the high resistance element from an electric stove then re-wrapped it around the cup. When he ran a current through it it got red hot and melted the scraps he placed inside.
I don't know if it could handle metals with a higher melt point though.

Maybe the same thing will happened as when the gold mines in San Fransisco dried up?  The price went up.

8448  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Evil of religion, and investment into IBB, Islamic Bitcoin Bank on: April 27, 2012, 04:54:55 PM
I thought the OP's post made an interesting read and I thank him for posting something thought provoking. Although, I don't agree that religion is evil. Evil only exists if there is a God. Otherwise evil is just choices you don't agree with. True evil is a supernatural concept that assumes there is an absolute and objective good.

Jeez Mushroomized, how pure are they selling them where you are?  If it's anything like over here, they've been cut with leopard or even dolphin by the time they get to the street.  You're lucky if you get one that doesn't have a dorsal fin.

I feel for your loss, but from here it sounds more like your brother likely didn't overdose per se, quite so much as miss when he tried to get the spurs to dig into a vein.  It's difficult to get a decent aim when the little guys are thrashing around that hard in your hands trying to get away.  Sometimes people will get a rogue spur right in the jugular, and then it's game over for real.

I wish you'd consider giving lectures at schools.  You'd be an obvious person to give them, and it's a message a lot of kids need to hear.  When I notice the kids today doing the "duckface" trying to score a little 'pus, I wish they knew better what they were getting into, and that their parents knew the warning signs.
Amen. The palatypi I can score has been stepped on so many times it 's hard to know what your getting. On the street dealers will sew a duck bill onto a beaver and sell it to kids!  What is the world coming to when you cant trust a street dealer.

I think the remittance market will be huge for bitcoin in the future. There is no reason why you can't use it now. One could send BTC home and spend it from there, or sell it for local currency.  You don't need an intermediary to send money to a trusted family member, for example.
8451  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What level of tyranny will you live under ? on: April 26, 2012, 06:59:56 PM
I am the tyranny, so... none.
But seriously, I ignore rules that I don't agree with.So... none. Oppression happens in your mind not the perpetrator. That is why some people can be brought to their knees with a few words while others can live free in a prison cell.
I'm not so sure being a prison cell is really living free...
Not a great definition, but consider Nelson Mandela or Aung San Su Kyi.  At some level you are free until your broken.

Yep, that's the one. What a great thing for Bitcoin. Now I can wear my t-shirt in public without all the weird stares. I’m disappointed that I missed meeting you today. Maybe next time.
If it happens, "game changer" is not too strong a phrase!
8454  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am a programmer in need of inspiration. on: April 25, 2012, 08:25:54 PM

What drama. I hope he is ok, but it looks like more BS.
I assume he has made arrangements to cover society's costs. The ambulance, etc. will cost lots and it would be very un-Ayn Rand to expect us taxpayers to pay. If that sound harsh, I agree. But that is what passes for morality among the Ayn Randers.
If "society" wants to dispose of his body, that's on them.

Haha, touché.
8459  Economy / Services / Re: [4BTC] Assemble a PirateBox for me and send it to me on: April 25, 2012, 04:36:38 PM
I may be interested in this service also. I convinced my rescue squad commander to try out a piratebox on our next collapsed structure event. It occurred to me that if I were trapped in a collapsed building, I would try to get an Internet connection to contact someone.  It could save lives to initiate a simple chat with victims.
I may build one, but time is always a problem. If it works well in training/tests I will pursue funding for a scaled up version. We have people with the right radio licenses to run a high powered wifi.
