861  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: April 18, 2014, 11:58:10 PM
I'm a customer, and I will say this, though their service is probably the best, you cannot ROI anymore. All those front page mining calculators do not take in the Difficulty increase over time, so they produce false results. You could go and try looking for a different solution really, just not SHA256. My opinion thought, your bitcoins and your choice in the end.

I didn't even know there were BTC profitability calculators WITHOUT the ability to project difficulty increases in your calculations.  Most calculators have this and the "default" number is normally set between 20-30%.

Here's a proper one : https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

I could be misunderstanding you so please correct me if Im wrong.  You originally talked about bitcoin calculators produce false results because they dont take in to account difficulty increasing over time.  You then posted a calculator that takes in to account difficulty increasing over time.

Yes. And?

quality response. respect. Cheesy
Haha, indeed. I've personally only seen calculators that include the increasing difficulty, altho I've never been able to change that value because I don't really know what it means ( embarrassed to admit it but it's the truth ). But I suppose the pre-set is accurate enough.

I personally find this the best and simplest calculator: http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator
No settings, just type in your hashrate, and it will tell you how much you mine at current difficulty, and the estimated next. No calculating anymore.
Yeah I've used that one before, it's quite good. I like simplistic layouts so it definitely gets a plus for that.

My question is why does this matter?

Posted From bitcointalk.org Android App
Bitcoin getting mentioned in the media is always interesting. It doesn't change anything, but it's still interesting to discuss.

also Ron Paul is a rare political figure, one of the very few who actually had the best interests of
the American people in mind, so his opinion is generally respected among a certain segment
of the population.
Ah, I can't really say anything about that as I'm not American myself and really don't have any knowledge about it. If that's the case it might be a bit disappointing that he's making statements about something he clearly doesn't know a lot about.
863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to explain bitcoin isnt "fake"? on: April 18, 2014, 11:55:51 PM
is there a non stoner version of that lol
No, apparently Bitcoins are still all about drug trade and Silkroad.
Yeah or perhaps you could read the other suggestions made in this thread. Wink

Don't forget about dirty money, money laundering, goods trafficking, mafia, and all that BS.
Yes well. I know all that, and it's what the media wants people to believe. They're not interesting in investigating and researching Bitcoins to actually find out what it is, they're interesting in scaring people with headlines about the devil-currency.
864  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: cex.io or scrypt.cc on: April 18, 2014, 11:54:49 PM
Cloud mining in general is bad because of the near impossibility of gaining a profit.
In the short term indeed. But at the moment the GH/s price on all cloud mining services is way too high to be profitable unless you're in it for the long run.
865  Other / Off-topic / Re: Answer the question above with a question. on: April 18, 2014, 11:53:49 PM
what dafauq are you guys talking about?
Probably some technical crypto shiet, what would you prefer to discuss?

I don't know, something we all could understand, how about klingon? Cheesy
Never been a fan of either, but is that from Star wars or Star Trek?

I have no idea, never watched any of those too, I just learn that stuff from the big bang theory, have you ever watched it?
Yeah, that's the only reason I've heard about it as well. Quite entertaining show, isn't it? Smiley

Heads up for Ritz

Some people have played U & Stunna while u were at competing for better pricing. 17th was Stunna's payment schedule and he has hold the payment till now. Some people are impatient for a reason. I have left a notice for him as well. Now its upto U 2 to decide if both of u wanna double pay same persons.

Details: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=291387.msg6286541#msg6286541

p.s. We are going to see some sigs will change very fast.

Thank you for that.
Yes we are totally aware of this situation. And we are monitor this sig swapping thing.  We have names and proof of this ..so at the end of the month those that are doing it will be deleted and not paid. We already have a list.

Best,
Ritz
Glad to hear that you know who did it, these scammers should get red trust and to make sure they're never paid again on this forum.
868  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: April 18, 2014, 11:40:34 PM
depending on his profit margins and how much he is actually paying out every month...he may not even feel it is worth his time to go through a bunch of extra measures...

When running a business, theft and fraud are a cost of doing business (as crappy as it is)
Oh yes definitely. And as the OP states "Rates have been changed due to people attempting to game the system". It's all already considered, however it's still sad. These aren't major amounts people are scamming for either, it's relatively small amounts, which is just in bad taste.

I think our bull fell asleep and we have small bear cub swinning his paw down, but when the bull wakes up our coins will be back up too Cheesy
I think the cub won't reach maturity Smiley
No it's been quite disappointing today and yesterday, was hoping we'd see a good increase in a really short time. I don't doubt that we'll get there, but not with an explosion.

as I said the bull fell asleep, he waved his horns but he was tired so he went back to sleep

the bear cub is still small, we only need to wait until the bull rests and wakes up Smiley
I don't really get the point of these animal metaphors but I'm with you on your point! Cheesy
870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ron Paul says Bitcoin is not "True Money". on: April 18, 2014, 11:38:18 PM
Most humans in general are creatures of habit...anything that threatens the norm is considered bad and viewed negatively.   This is especially true with older generations, as they are the last fond of new changes and technology (unless it deals with preventing baldness or erectile dysfunction)
Yup, and when we're that age we'll surely do the same thing, as previous generations -all- have done. But without change, nothing has the potential to get better. If people are skeptical to bitcoins now, how skeptical weren't people to the internet?
871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which Bitcoin Client do you use and why ? on: April 18, 2014, 11:37:04 PM
This seems like an appropriate place to link this as a small warning to Multibit users

 http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/22gt4r/major_mulitibit_bug_btc_gone_it_cost_me_all_of_my/
Woah, scary. However I've never had any similar problems, and this seems to be a once in a lifetime issue.

I read about this on coindesk.   I was just about to start using multibit as an additional wallet too.   I probably still will, but I have not gotten around to it.
Yeah I'll definitely stick with it for the moment. I've updated when new updates got available and it's worked just fine.

why we cant lock names on a list then they compare the list off in alphabetic order so this way, they can see who leave a campaign to try to go to there they can be on the list for the same money agreed?

That's actually a pretty good idea. All signature campaigns post the participating members, so that they can check that they don't join 2.
It would work indeed, if they wanna take the extra steps to actually post their participants names and so on. I still find the though to get away with a scam like that ridiculously hard to do, but if someone has it's a problem.

Yesterday freebitcoinwin.com paid all members.First time ever since they launched.I myself got 0.027.I hope they continue to pay.

if this post wasnt here i would just ignore freebitcoinwin forever.. but did they really pay? i have few referrals there and you can see how much individually they made for me.. but its not included in my total balance. so you were paid all? including refs? and did you have it all the time included in your total balance?

it pays only some users, go away from that site
Exactly, they have actually paid a few people and there's proof that they have, but the majority has never been paid, the site has not added the proper amounts to your balance etc. Just don't use the site, freebitco.in is the original and the best.
878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to explain bitcoin isnt "fake"? on: April 18, 2014, 11:28:32 PM
I've got you all beat:
The ultimate best way to show someone bitcoin has value (and is not fake) is to take them to your mailbox when your silkroad pot arrives. Pull out your pipe right then and let your friend take the first hit. If it's some good shit, then tell your friend you bought it with bitcoin. Maybe then your friend will believe you that bitcoin has value.

Yeah, that's one perfect way to make the connection to of bitcoin to drugs even stronger in the eyes of the mainstream society.

1.someone else paying people to post on your forum, would you stop him? Cheesy
2.generating more content, ranking better on google, more users, more ads clicked, more revenue for the forum
3.If I was the owner I would make Donators have the largest signature of all..
that way people would donate just to get a bigger signature and therefore get more money per post
the forum would acquire large quantities of bitcoin so it can keep operating and perhaps even reward some of it's hard working people Smiley

I don't think the positive aspects of this are a lot better then the negative sides..
Yeah but in the end the changes are based on one guy getting annoyed by posts he can chose to ignore and decides to ask to ban what he doesn't like.

yes, but if he thinks trough it with his own head and how this actually is good not only for bitcointalk but for bitcoin too

the more data a website has the better it will rank and more people will accidently stumble upon bitcointalk and become sucked in the crypto world Cheesy

this is what we actually want, larger demand

besides, circulating some bitcoins around is also good for our coins Smiley
Ah yeah. Well this thread is getting old and those arguments have already circled around a few times in the thread, but didn't get much of response. In the end they wanted to stop spammers. After this period however I can't say that I've noticed a significant change. However if they have - good for them. Smiley
