861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jack Dorsey is now speaking up on: June 15, 2021, 12:54:05 PM

Could we say that Jack Dorsey is the reason for this 40k bounce of BTC?

@btc-room101  Thanks for pointing that he also have a electrnic payment system like paypal so the company might have to do something with this rise. Very similar to Elon really so he jumped in and you think he will also spread fud later?

Bull crap!

An extreme left-wing nut like Jack Dorsey will do more harm to Bitcoin than good. He is a proponent of socialism and wealth redistribution. It is just a matter of time, before he claims that women and minorities are not represented among the Bitcoin holders and the core team should do affirmative action in terms of airdrops for these demographic groups. The recent increase in Bitcoin prices ($31,000 to $40,000) was solely due to the support from El Salvador president Nayib Bukele. Now don't sideline Bukele, by mentioning Bitcoin haters such as Dorsey.
862  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the world be without poverty on: June 15, 2021, 12:42:07 PM
It depends on your definition of "poverty".

If you have an absolute standard in mind ("Daily income more than $10/day in inflation adjusted dollars") then absolutely, yes. Worldwide incomes are rapidly rising including among the poorest of the poor.

If you mean" people in the bottom 10% of the income distribution" , then by definition no. I don't see a way to have all people earn the same amount, at least not with real humans on the real Earth. Maybe in the 23rd century with free energy and replicators but that's far enough from reality as to be irrelevant.

I agree that in general income levels are rising. But the most important thing to remember here is that it is the income levels of the lowest tier, which is rising at the fastest rate. You can check the levels of extreme poverty around the world. Countries such as China has managed to eradicate extreme poverty and it is no mean achievement. Even in third world nations such as India, those who are living in extreme poverty has decreased by 80% or more during the last two decades. Now extreme poverty is mostly limited to certain geographies, such as Sub-Saharan Africa and Haiti.
863  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation expected as high as 4% in Apr in USA on: June 15, 2021, 12:32:07 PM
Not sure how they did this 4 percent prediction, because I expect it even much more than this. As I can see, the inflation rate is rising each year and government tries promises to control it and they will usually try to decrease the rate by unfortunately using federal reserve dollars and printing too much money to increase the funds while they will make a bigger mistake by providing too much money supply which can be the reason for decreasing the value of dollar against gold and other assets.

I guess it takes some time to get reflected in the market. The influx of fiat money during 2020-21 is something unparalleled. The M1 money supply increased by more than $5 trillion during this period in the United States, and by similar amounts in the other countries. Such a huge increase in monetary supply is unheard of, and has never happened in the past. Once the pandemic is contained and the economic growth resumes, the inflation rate is just going to explode. I won't be surprised even if it gets to 20% or more.
864  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 15, 2021, 12:22:57 PM
Spain - Sweden game was very boring. I was expecting much more than this. We saw a really few critical chances for both of the teams. But they couldn't make use of even one of them. I really wanted Sweden to score first. Because then Spain would start playing much better. But Sweden wasted very important chances.

Swedish defense is top class. I have noticed this even in the previous tournaments. However, their attack looks out of order, in the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimović. Everyone was claiming that Alexander Isak would be able to fill the vacuum, but it never happened. That said, I don't know what really happened to Spain. The way they played was shocking. Wasted too many opportunities. Although it is a young squad, I expected them to get three points from yesterday's match and they settled for just 1.

866  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 14, 2021, 05:13:02 PM
The match was very interesting and Slovakia continued to attack Poland who looked overwhelmed and there had to be a change of strategy in the second half for Poland.

and Slovakia took a 1-0 lead through W.Szczesny 18th-minute goal, and I don't see Lewandowski playing a part in this ongoing first-half game as Slovakia dominate in attack.

LOL.. at least Wojciech Szczęsny should be proud that the first own goal of EURO 2020 belongs to him.  Grin

Slovakia leading by 0-1 at half-time. Can they win this match? If they manage to do so, it is going to be the first upset in this tournament (I don't consider Finland's win over Denmark as an upset). I guess Poland is overdependent on Lewandowski and that is the reason why they are unable to score. The Slovakian defenders are not even allowing him to breathe. The other Polish forwards (Piotr Zieliński, Kamil Jóźwiak) need to attack the Slovak defense so that they will release their grip on Lewandowski.
867  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 14, 2021, 04:57:38 PM
Probably the authorities of PSL and IPL are more interested to complete the remaining of the tournament and they can sacrifice the income which may come from the spectators. The deal is good because people can watch and enjoy the remaining tournament on the TV and it does not make much of the difference. We are now used to it . Aren't we ?

For the franchises, the gate collection is important. But the PCB and the BCCI can ignore the issue, because they don't benefit from the gate collection. Franchises need to make a difficult choice of allowing spectators in the stand and thereby risking another disruption to the tournament, or the smooth conduct of the remaining matches. I am sure that most of them would opt for the latter option. Some of the fans may be disappointed with the lack of spectators in the stands. That can't be helped, unfortunately.
868  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 14, 2021, 04:44:01 PM
You are right. The New Zealand team is in great form now. Against their strong batting lineup, India definitely needs first-class skilled bowlers. The most experienced bowlers in the country will have to form a squad against New Zealand. Bumrah and Mohammad Sami must be in the squad.

The curator (Simon Lee) has already stated that the pitch will be offering a lot of bounce and seam movement:

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/wtc-final-pitch-ind-vs-nz-southampton-curator-aims-for-pace-bounce-and-carry-1266382

So I don't expect the Indians to include Ashwin or any other full-time spinner in the playing XI. For me, the choice of pacers will be Bumrah/Shami/Ishant, as they have the most experience. One advantage for New Zealand is that they are quite acclimatized to the English conditions now, after the test series against the hosts. On the other hand, the Indians have refused to play any warmup matches (as usual).
869  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2024 US Presidential Election | Biden+Harris Vs ?? ?? on: June 14, 2021, 02:18:45 PM
Biden's leadership I think is better than what Trump has done so far, which continues to spark controversy in every policy, but of course every policy that is taken will have a negative and posistive impact on the American government, for example the policy to raise taxes to american companies  and of course this will have the potential to hamper the growth of new jobs, suppress wage growth, and encourage companies to shift their business to other countries, but the positive thing is that this policy is increasing the country income from the corporate tax sector of companies in America and of course this will strengthen finances,  america which is indeed in an unstable condition after the pandemic hit.

What sort of leadership you are talking about? It has been almost 6 months since he took office. The only real decision he took so far has been to implement increases in tax and to plan the $6 trillion additional spending. Apart from these, I haven't noticed any real policy change from Biden. And the VP (Kamala Harris) is much more visible than Biden these days. I believe that it is just a matter of time before Biden steps down due to bad health and Kamala replaces him. This is the ideal opportunity for the GOP. But first, they need to move past the Trump era.
870  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 14, 2021, 02:04:22 PM
Looks like Czechia will get three points today, as they are ahead 1-0 (thanks to the goal from Patrik Schick). It will be disappointing for Scotland, who had the majority of the possession so far. Scotland had 6 shots till now, compared to 4 from Czechia. A defeat here would most probably mean that Scotland fails to progress to the knockout stage. In case anyone is watching this match live on TV, then you will understand that the Scots are just plain unlucky. The Czech goalkeeper prevented at least a couple of excellent shots in the last 2 minutes (47-49 minutes).
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If I have $500,000$ in this token can I sell them immediately and get ETH? on: June 14, 2021, 01:52:43 PM
I juts checked the market cap of of this Open Governance Token, and according to Coinmarketcap, it is around $2 million. With such a small market cap, it will be near impossible to sell such a large quantity of tokens at once. Depending on the prevailing liquidity, it may take many weeks. If the demand is low, then there is a chance that the exchange rates can go down by up to 90% or more. And don't go by the daily volumes. In case of the smaller coins and tokens, they are almost always inflated. If the daily trade volume shows a total of $500,000, then in all probability the real number may be 1/10th or 1/20th of this amount.
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon musk and his invention on: June 14, 2021, 01:27:33 PM
Did any one noticed the most recent tweets from this loser? His new offer is that he will reconsider Bitcoin as one of the payment methods, if 50% of the energy consumption for Bitcoin mining comes from green energy. Let's all stand together and say a big "Fuck You" to Elon. First of all, Bitcoin is a decentralized cryptocurrency and he can't dictate whether we should use green energy or non-renewable energy. As long as non-renewable sources are being used for electricity generation, Bitcoin mining farms will continue to use electricity from such sources. Combating climate change is not our sole responsibility.
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a bad time for altcoins? on: June 14, 2021, 01:16:17 PM
Why do I see legit coins with real utility and transparent, excellent devs not doing well but shitty meme coins just flying?

Legit coins such as Cardano and BNB are doing relatively well. I would even say that they are slightly overpriced. It is entirely another topic that shitcoins such as XRP and Dogecoin are overpriced by a factor of 10x or even 100x at current levels. So you can't say that good coins are doing well. And regarding shitcoins, the bubble will burst soon and they will see a very sizable correction. Anyone holding these coins are going to face crippling losses (as it has happened manytimes before in the cryptocurrency market).
874  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: June 14, 2021, 11:20:05 AM
Such a conspiracy is something that cannot be proven. related is true or not, but indeed if we conclude it seems related and it seems logical that China is behind all this, but again we can do much if there is no authentic evidence. I just pray that this pandemic will end soon and the economy will recover

If the virus somehow escaped from the Wuhan virological lab, then genetic sequencing can prove it. But what can't be proven is that this leak is intentional. Anyway, why should China unleash a biological weapon on its own population? And this is the reason why the other countries such as United States are not very keen to put the blame on China. Americans seems to have enough evidence in their hand to prove that the virus was genetically modified at Wuhan. But there are a lot of difficult questions that need to be answered before China is blamed.
875  Economy / Economics / Re: Risk of Inflation in Economy. on: June 14, 2021, 11:07:49 AM
0,6 in May 2021

Un-adjusted 12 month ended May 2021 5%

Annual rythm in 2021 so far : 6,7%

It is very high numbers.

From what I heard, the M1 monetary supply within the United States increased by 100% plus. So it is natural to have higher inflation numbers. Actually I am surprised to see such low numbers. I would expect the inflation rate to be in double digits by now. Perhaps the impact of the higher monetary supply takes a while to be reflected in the market. But I am sure about one thing. With Democrats in power until 2025 January, the inflation is not going to get any lower now. Within the next 4 years, I expect an annual inflation in double digits and federal debt of around $50 trillion.
876  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2024 US Presidential Election | Biden+Harris Vs ?? ?? on: June 14, 2021, 10:52:28 AM
Doesn't matter because my point still stands, USA is doomed because they are slowly being taken over by leaders that easily submit to corporations that makes US a fascist government. I don't care what's the next move because the masters of this world is just shuffling shit to make people think that there's a change.

Biden's spending plans are really scary. No other president in the history of United States have taken out such big spending plans. This additional $6 trillion expenses will have a crippling impact on the American economy, which is going to last for many decades. And more worryingly, most of his spending plans are essentially handouts to failed cities, unions and poor families with large number of children. In short he is taking money from the successful people and distributing them to those who are unsuccessful. This is just a recipe for further economic ruin.
877  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 14, 2021, 10:40:54 AM
Goals and emotions at the Johan Cruijff Arena. The Netherlands makes its debut in this European Championship by knocking out Ukraine. But what a struggle for the Oranje, who were brought back from 2-0 down to 2-2 in just four minutes. In the final minutes, however, it was Dumfries' shot that fixed the score at 3-2. For the national team led by Franck de Boer, without de Ligt, the best way to start their journey in group C and respond to Austria's victory over Macedonia.

The got the full 3 points from the match, so there is nothing to worry. But at the same time, Ukraine exposed the chinks in the armor for Netherlands. They need to take care of the vulnerabilities in their defense before they progress to the knockout phase. Also, they have one tough match remaining in the group (against Austria). For Ukraine, the good performance in this match opens up a possibility of advancing in to the knockout stage, if they could manage at least one win from their two remaining group stage matches.
878  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: June 14, 2021, 10:27:54 AM
Shakib Al Hasan is a bit furious and angry as we have seen in his previous activities. He is independent, he likes to be independent. He was given a 1-year ban, but that is not for match-fixing. He never liked match-fixing. Watching almost every fixing match in the DPL, he was probably too upset, so maybe Oman shouted. Although he did not do well. But as a result, everyone has come to know about the match-fixing of DPL. Indirectly, he has benefited Bangladesh cricket.

The incident seems to have polarized the Bangladesh cricket fans. Now everyone is divided in to two camps. A section believes that Shakib has become too arrogant and crossed the line, and want the BCB to take disciplinary action against him. Another section believes that he has been unfairly victimized and the BCB is making him a scapegoat. IMO, the truth lies somewhere in between. But I have no doubt that the one-year suspension handed out to him earlier was unfair, as he was not involved in any match fixing activity.
879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: busd or USDT safe on: June 13, 2021, 02:52:11 PM
USDC is more preferable for me if I need to store funds. I use USDT & BUsd more often but still I have less trust. DAI has also worked well lately.

Agree with you on USDC. It seems to be one of the trustworthy stablecoins. But at the same time, BUSD won't be a bad choice. Binance is the largest cryptocurrency exchange right now and they have maintained their reputation intact till now. My concern with BUSD would be related to centralization and not regarding the reserves. That said, there is no doubt that I would prefer either USDC or BUSD over Tether anytime of the day. Both of them can be trusted more than USDT and the Bitfinex exchange which issues the token.
880  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 13, 2021, 02:40:13 PM
10 minutes remaining and the only question now is whether England will be able to extend their margin. Apart from Modric, the other Croatian players look out of form. They seems to have settled for a 0-1 defeat and will be happy if England doesn't score another goal. Now this match looks boring. Can we talk about the next match (Austria vs North Macedonia)?  Grin We also have the Netherlands vs Ukraine match later today, which maybe another one sided affair. Once again, the only question is regarding Netherlands's winning margin.
