8641  Economy / Speculation / Re: Estimate the true amount of resistence around 7-7.25 on: January 11, 2012, 07:31:23 PM
I don't know what the "true" resistance is, but I won't be selling either.  I have sell orders placed higher, however, as I think we'll be punching through soon enough.

OMG!!!!!! Im investing heavily due to this comment...  no joke..

LOL... proudhon finally makes a definitively bullish statement.

OMG, up is down, black is white. What next, Edward becomes a bitcoin fanboy?
8642  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 2012 according to the Mayan calendar on: January 11, 2012, 05:58:05 PM
Just to be clear. The Mayan calendar in no way predicts the end of the world. It is simply the end of the calendar round, something like the new millennium on the calendar we use today.
Even if it did, so what would that mean? Do any of you believe in quetziquatle, the snake-bird? Then why entertain other nonsense?

You sound like the guys we eavesdrop on in Afghanistan. "Don't worry brother, this phone is safe." Then comse the hellfire missile.  Cool

Or it means one of the exchanges is moving money around their pool-wallets.
I never understand why everyone is focused on who has more or less BTC. I don't own a fortune in them, but I have profited insanely. Just as I don't quit using dollars because of how many Warren Buffet has.
8647  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin day trading on: January 08, 2012, 01:04:58 PM
First off, Welcome fellow peer. Smiley
No one should frown on practices like arbitrage or speculation or shorting. Just as no one should cry foul for loosing their pants doing so. IMO, we have a true *free market here. And a system without rules is just as fair as a system of rules for everyone.
With bitcoin you own your money. It is not the property of a government or bank. You can trade it as you wish. Of course it is not insured either and no one is going to help you if it is stolen or lost in the market. That puts the onus on you to engage in thoughtful practices. So, have fun and be careful. Bitcoin doesn't need you to act a certain way for it to succeed. If it did I don't think it would work, and it is working just fine.

I'm holding an end of the word party in December. But will the world end? Are you fukin kidding me?  Roll Eyes

"World ending" is just a dumb phrase in general  Smiley
That's a good point. The world won't end for.... I don't know, billions of years? Although, that was post #666 for me. Coincidence?

I met with some millitary guys today here in Istanbul. All the talk is of war with Iran. Boys, I hope you are ready to fight. This will make Iraq look like a parade.  Cry

Turkiye'ye hos geldin.

You guys really are desperate to believe there will be a war with Iran.

There is a fair chance Barack Obama will win in November.  But that chance falls to zero if he goes to war with Iran.  Iraq cost 4500 lives and over a trillion.  Iran is over 4 times the size, it has been preparing for invasion since 2003 and the place is huge.  The notion that a country that can't defeat a ragtag militia in Afghanistan will suddenly find the stomach for occupying a huge well armed country is laughable

Think about it.  Are you really thinking that any Presidential hopeful, let alone a frail plant like Obama, would go to the US public on a track record of 18,000 extra combat deaths and an extra $4 trillion borrowing to finance it?  No way - it won't happen.

If there is a military intervention, it will be well after the US elections.  Anyone telling you otherwise is nuts.
I hear you. But the US has said it will "not allow" Iran to build a nuclear arsenal, and control of the Straits of Hormuz is intolerable. 30-40% of the worlds oil flows through there. You may have noticed that oil is more important than lives. I have seen war on three continents and nobody wanted any of them, still they happened.
8652  Economy / Lending / Re: Requesting 250 btc loan on: January 04, 2012, 05:03:39 PM
I would entertain such a loan. Now let's talk collateral and identity verification. Can I have your drivers licenses number? and where would you like to meet my representative in person? How about your place?
8653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Market for Bitcoin on Intrade on: January 04, 2012, 04:12:33 PM
I have traded on Intrade for years. Last year I had an email exchange with then about bitcoin. They were interested, but never bit. If they hear it from enough people, I think they will create some contracts about it.

This spring I'm part of a panel about bitcoins in Chicago. Tech-something?? I'll have to invite him.

The market is a contest with money as points. So the scoreboard says the OP is wrong. I don't see how anyone can argue with that. I mean, I could say gold is a stupid useless rock. But wtf does my opinion matter when I go to the jewelry store.

8659  Economy / Speculation / Re: why is price of bitcoin rising these last few days ? on: January 01, 2012, 01:03:31 PM
Because bitcoin is a brilliant idea who's time has come. The more people who are expose to it, the more demand will rise.
8660  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What needs to be sold to make you buy bitcoins in order to purchase... on: January 01, 2012, 12:58:39 PM
As above, I like a deal. Anything that is truly cheaper in BTC is of interest. Also direct purchases. For example crafts from abroad.
