Hmm... They have never asked me for an ID. I don't know why they would need one. If you fund your account from a bank, why would they care about your identity?  Are you trading at a high volume, like over 10k/ month.

I see this is airing in my market. I'm having a cocktail party during that slot. How rude would it be to wear an earbud at my own party?
8703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the *stable price of BTC leading to increased sales? on: December 09, 2011, 03:46:03 PM
Interesting comments all. I was just wondering if there was any correlation. I found myself spending a little more now that I can replace my spent coins for about the same cost. I guess it's just me. Tongue

8704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is the *stable price of BTC leading to increased sales? on: December 09, 2011, 02:58:17 PM
This is a question for retailers and service providers within the bitcoin economy. Now that $3 has been relatively stable for a while now, are peers spending some of their coin or is holding for speculation still as strong as ever?

I PMed you with an outline. Seeing that others are interested, I may just make a PDF version and link it here.

P.S. Break a leg!
8706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want to send money throug bitcoin, is there anyway to overcome the votality? on: December 05, 2011, 03:49:05 PM
Sounds like your looking to buy insurance.

I would like to at least see it in the standard Ubuntu repository, when we reach version 1.
8708  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Poll/Discuss] The possibility of a distributed physical delivery system on: December 02, 2011, 09:28:00 PM
What do they call it in Geo-caching when you leave an item to be moved? I hear that people send trinkets around the world with the help of other ego-cashers. is there any way to use this type of technique? Of course it's a pis-poor way to get your weed from SR. You would be lucky to get a stem and a seed after passing through so many people. lol

Geocaching usually involves totally useless and cheap trinkets whose only purpose is to be tracked online. With this system there would have to be an incentive to deliver the package and get paid as opposed to keeping the package and re selling it for money.
Yes, incentive is the problem. But is there a way to incentivize a dead drop? ... I got nothin.

Wait, do you specifically mean me?
8711  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Only significant property owners should be allowed to vote. on: December 02, 2011, 01:35:46 AM
Us property owners just voted to take your guns away and use them to force you into a gay marriage.  How do you like us now?  Grin
Unconstitutional on a federal-basis and -- again -- I hold that law should only apply to commercial code dealing with the protection of property.

Social laws are unjustified in any case.
But why wouldn't property owners do away with that pesky constitution? Once in power new laws could be made to further entrench power for the greater glory of property owners. Anyone who doesn't like it can vote... Oh wait, no they can't, they are just surfs and peasants.

Your approach might work at a smaller scale, a commune or something. But a two tier democracy seems oxymoronic.

There does seem to be a new enthusiasm for bitcoin recently.
8714  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Dwolla The Manipulator? on: December 01, 2011, 02:31:57 PM
Damnit! Dwolla manipulated me again yesterday. They made me buy a few more sub $3 coins.

8716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Help Bitcoin take over a Local Area on: December 01, 2011, 03:22:56 AM
Hey what about this. Let's say our merchant has an ice cream stand. He accepts bitcoin for purchases and now can exchange or spend them.  But what if instead he sells them at his stand. just put up a sign that you accept and sell bitcoins. If our guy is careful It might even become a separate revenue stream.
8717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Help Bitcoin take over a Local Area on: December 01, 2011, 01:47:45 AM
I think your strategy makes sense.  And there are ways for a reluctant merchant to test it out with little risk. They could, for example, offer a special item of the week for sale in bitcoin.
I would add that if you can convince the shops to spend their bitcoin rather than convert it to USD we could have an even more complete economy.

I for one have always felt stifled by the tyranny of forced non-eating of horses.

P.S. Soylent green is made from algae or seaweed or something. Everyone knows that.

Wow. what about broadcasting your URI's as something like a numbers station? You could secretly pay someone with 100% anonymity.  Cool

Not any more than you can via an encrypted chat over Tor.  Less so, even because I can find your numbers station with the right gear.

Maybe, but in theory tracing a computer on a network is easier than finding a receiver within the range of a transmitter. As far as anyone listening, I'm the only one with the code book from jim618.  Grin
I suppose your basically right though, The Internet has replaced numbers stations for spies.  But I still like the idea. Kinda like I like the idea of a cigarette lighter installed on a computer.
