As for a suggestion. I reconnected with an old android coder from way back and he has made a wallet with POS for android and iphone. I am looking at changing SPN to a POS coin and the question is.... if there is an issue converting the coin to POS would everyone be willing to work with a SPN v2 which will be POS and exchange SPN v1 for SPN v2 to keep this project rolling?
feedback is always welcome.
i did some quick/rough arithmetic, looks like PoW ends in about a year? so yeah, it is time to consider PoS. for your further consideration: please have a look at VNL, it is based (somewhat) on peercoin, has a unique code and reward structure, + very active dev. vanillacoin would be the choice imho to fork from because the dev has particularly addressed the problems present in BTC and fixed them! (instantly respendable transactions, can scale to over 100 TXes/second etc...) and the android wallet can run on a cellphone, unplugged, staking, for DAYS also see coin++ and dark++/VNL projects also consider the negative attention the coin is currently withstanding and you will see it's importance

Woody and I are not able to get the Multisend to function correctly. We want all of our POS rewards to go to another internal wallet address , to keep that separate and this is our "sell fund". Im going to setup multisend again and reenable and do unlock my wallet and see if the POS funds go to my "sell funds" wallet address. Maybe its something we are doing wrong. simple solution: temporarily rename the wallet.dat to something like wallet.dat.main, and start the wallet. a new wallet.dat will be generated. go to the recieve tab in the empty wallet, and label that addy as 'stake'. copy-paste <address> into notepad. close the wallet, (make sure it is closed) and rename the new wallet.dat to wallet.dat.stake, and rename your original back to wallet.dat. use the addy you copied in multisend, and you've done it sounds like a terrible lot of trouble, but it's really very easy once you get into the swing of it

guys my smaller size blocks are not getting mature its more than 7 days age of them as per wallet, any suggestion?
Min Stake age: 7 days, Max stake age 28 days
smaller blks will need more time to accumulate significant weight

you don't need any collateral for another week or three, kicks-in @ blk 220,000, i think. and i'd like to understand why the amount is so high also. Mammoth and Supercoin have decentralized coin mixers, colatteral for that system is 500 coin.
wait, what? We can just use an empty wallet as a superpeer at the moment? At the moment we don't have master nodes. ... collateral has nothing to do with that centralized version of cap You don't need any collateral to become a superpeer, but you need it to collect the reward(I might be wrong). my wallet has significantly <9,999VNL balance, is getting rewards, is unlocked

Going to buy some Vanillacoin welcome aboard ZonedOutSpace Yes, you need to unlock it for ~5-10 sec each time you start it, after that you can lock it again and still get incentive rewards.
can you confirm that works for you? tried it, when i locked the info showed a negative votescore and "false"
|
|
|
Then it seems like I didn't get a single incentive reward in a week. How often are they? The votecandidate value is true.
is your wallet unlocked? ::: Wallets don't have to be unlocked to receive node incentives, only for staking and sending I believe. i have to say it doesn't seem so - started wallet after a comp restart: { "walletaddress": , "collateralrequired": 0, "collateralbalance": 0, "networkstatus": ok, "votecandidate": false, "votescore": -1 } after unlocking { "walletaddress": ViykunxxiBsjrL7paRswFF5Egp94rkJJX1, "collateralrequired": 0, "collateralbalance": 0, "networkstatus": ok, "votecandidate": true, "votescore": 20777 }

There will always be someone who will say than any amount is to high and should be lowered. Personaly I think that 10k VNL is just right for collateral balance. It's like you are investing in soft miner which will with time get bigger % from PoW.
I also agree with the 10k collateral lock-up. It should be expensive to hold a superpeer. indeed a few months from now, the reward will become substantial. i understand that argument, but is the model it goes with obsolete? (simple basic: this planet, even not counting the universe beyond, holds wealth beyond measure, even by 21st century standards). ((too soon, too soon)) ya, bhut we gotta stop thinkin' like the bankers want us to

I haven't updated my VNL client yet and haven't opened my wallet since v0.3.4
What is the recommended upgrade procedure & what is this new incentive thing ?
Which operating system Nthused? There are incentives for have a full node running (part of PoW reward goes to a node) more info; http://vanillacoin.net/wiki/Technologies/Node%20Incentives.mdWindows 7 Do I sync from scratch or just continue on ? As I read pools had to be on 0.3.5 before upgrading to 0.3.6 due to something john-connor mentioned. Just download new version from http://vanillacoin.net/wallets.phpAnd let it run. You dont need to sync from scratch, it will continue from a point where it was synced before. Thanks guys the process seemed to have worked I am also eligible for the node incentive but damn the 10K VNL I cannot afford ! I only have a smidgen over 3K Lower it to 5K & it might be better for VanillaCoin adoption. you don't need any collateral for another week or three, kicks-in @ blk 220,000, i think. and i'd like to understand why the amount is so high also. Spartancoin. Warriors. Hardmen. Nobody messed with them if they could help it. i think Xerxes likes it but what will this fellow think of all that glittery gild? i like the old one

As far as the altcoin world goes, he's about as least shady as they come. The altcoin world is all salesmen trying to sell you their scam. Over 99% of altcoins are all scams and promises with no results.
John is just sitting there, committing high quality code nobody has written before. I believe he's actually trying to build something.
+1, in almost 2 years at bct, i've yet to meet a harder woking dev his work speaks for itself some quiet words of respect tally ho!

Is it really worth being on there? if so, i just looked its about 0.5btc to become the top voted, we can use some dev funds for it. But not sure if its worth being on there? it's a small exchange, something like 2k users (so as of about a month ago) but imo it'll be the place to be. coins listed are never delisted marketplace to sell your stuf mining pools for all listed coin, mine to your account (there was talk of multi-pools for PoS coin too, idk what happened to that) block explorer for every listed coin and the yarbitrage page is interesting almost forgot! trade against: BTC, LTC, DOT, DOGE, FTC, POP, HTML5, and UNO (keeps me busy ) oh yeah - it rains in the troll bx

I only know how to fork ethereum. I never bothered forking bitcoin or peercoin. I would like to fork to Vanilla coins code but don't know how.

what's wrong with your wallet - I downloaded it and let it synch then started mining and was finding block until the block chain came to an abrupt halt - it has not generated a block in over an hour but your specs indicated every 120 seconds?
do you have any active connections?

Does everyone like my plan of switching this to Etereums code base? It would be PoW for the first 11 months and then maybe full PoS or PoW+PoS once the new Ethereum code is out. This would make the coin GPU mining so whoever is mining this with the scrypt ASICs might get mad.
I actually don't have much of any coin. A few million THC bounty would be amazing.
I kind of don't want to switch because of the blockchain. The whole thing with the blockchain is that it is long in history. ya - seems like a long step to eth, but what do i know, lol idk if it might be the right direction/wtg for hemp, i know i've suggested this before, but In case they are too lazy to open the link:
"CoinPP is a C++11 cryptographic currency library. This library is backwards compatible with Peercoin or any Peercoin derived cryptographic-currency."
John actually made it possible here, to any peercoin derived crypto, to upgrade their codebase. He even stated on the official forums that he will give personal help to any developer wanting to do it.
so a dev might do some amazing upgrades here alone i would think, then also consider the possibilities the dark++ project ...
