A lot of people are owed for their signatures too, but I guess that's not as important over the outstanding bet money.
962  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-01-30 Arrest of charlie shrem shows dangerously repressive US police on: January 30, 2014, 01:55:39 PM
Since the Bitcoin Foundation swiftly dropped any kind of support for his former vicepresident, it's up to Falkvinge to talk some sense on the Shrem arrest:

http://falkvinge.net/2014/01/30/arrest-of-charlie-shrem-shows-dangerously-repressive-u-s-police-system/

Quote
What allegedly happened here was that Shrem sold one million USD worth of bitcoin to one or more individuals, and these means were later used in turn to purchase contraband from Silk Road, obviously without Shrem having any say about it. That’s neither criminal nor money laundering – when you sell an asset, whether a car, a house, or bitcoin, you’re not liable in the slightest if that asset is later exchanged for contraband by its new rightful owner. Nor are you in any way, shape or form required to act even if you know it’s been later exchanged for contraband by its new owner, and in particular, you’re not guilty of money laundering.

Maybe not money laundering but it probably falls under tax evasion.

Quite a good idea. Could you not have got the number 0.1 lol
964  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is it true on: January 30, 2014, 11:52:13 AM
Sometimes you do sometimes you don't...

Depends on how honest are those that promise will pay.

I didn't get paid...

You might want to remove your sig if you didn't get paid. There are sig deals from respectable members here who pay out, but most new ones that pop up are scams.

968  Other / Off-topic / Re: Medieval Helpdesk. on: January 30, 2014, 12:14:08 AM

That was painfully unfunny. Reading the comments it seems to be a english version of a foreign sketch... maybe the funny got lost in translation?

Methinks you are lacking in a sense of humour.

My $.02.

Wink

Or maybe that video was just really really shit. I've had funnier farts  Grin.
969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinmarketcap what a SURPRISE! NXT disappeared on: January 29, 2014, 11:37:42 PM
Does it have a blockchain? Maybe that's down. Sometimes coins dissapear from coinmarketcap for this reason.

971  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could Dogecoin Hit $2 ? on: January 29, 2014, 11:26:07 PM
If dogecoin even manages to hit $1, I will be very happy

I think a lot of people will be happy, but that's never gonna happen.
972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin a fool's Gold Standard? on: January 29, 2014, 10:47:08 PM

Thanks. Looks like a great site. Just watching the video of the above images now.
973  Economy / Economics / Re: Good/Bad currencies on: January 29, 2014, 10:43:38 PM
Is this a trick question? All fiat currencies are bad money.

And the only good money is crypto?

You can have money that isn't crypto that is still good.

Like what?

Like gold, but golds price is horribly manipulated too.

Edward Snowden nominated for Nobel peace prize

This is great news. Hope he wins. He deserves it.

978  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin transaction on: January 29, 2014, 10:03:30 PM
the fee its not big but must be free

You don't have to pay a fee. And the money is sent almost instantly, you just need to wait for full confirmations to spends it.

What's the size of the US debt. Its got too many zeros for me to count ...

I have something for you to give you an idea of the size of the debt

USA's Debt

Imagining the American debt-image is not an easy task...

The picture you know, it is a 100 dollar bill.

This famous and known everywhere 100 dollar bill will help us to represent the debt figuratively.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 Hundred of these 100 dollar bills create this nice bundle worth $10,000

For $10,000 you can buy a small car or go on a nice vacation.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 Hundred of these bundles give you $1,000,000 (one million).  Not as spectacular as some of us has probably thought but an enormous sum.

The most of us will never earn this much in our entire life.  The question 'Who wants to be a Millionaire' simply does not apply to the average person.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now it is going to get adventurous.  This is what $100,000,000 (one hundred million) looks like.

As you see $ 100 million still fit on a commercial Palette. In the foreground for comparison is the the $10,000 bundle
and the $1 million stack.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ten pallets then yield $1,000,000,000 (one billion), which no longer fits in your auto garage.

If you have not heard, if you should ever plan to rob a bank to steal a billion dollars, remember to bring a truck!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For $1,000,000,000,000 (one trillion) you would then need 1,000 trucks

Look closely because the pallets are stacked in a double layer to ensure a that they all fit on a football pitch.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Boeing 747-400 uses less space, which looks something like this:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now lets use altitude, because in relation to the Statue of Liberty this not a house, these are 15.000.000.000.000 $ (fifteen trillion) ...

The Boeing is unfortunately no longer visible...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now we want to tell you how high the debt actually is....

Attention, it is ... 114.500.000.000.000 $ (114.5 trillion!)
and it looks like this:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A whole new perspective!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone got a link to a webpage or a big image with this all on? It's crazy. Would love to share it with people.
