9641  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: As a beginner, which wallet is best for you? on: October 29, 2019, 06:45:09 PM
Things such as fees, the wallet should automatically suggest the best fee for the Tx.
Again, I'm going to disagree here. An automatic fee selection algorithm such as in a wallet or on various websites is never going to be as accurate as someone who knows what they are doing and how necessary a speedy confirmation is to the transaction they are making. The wallet can suggest a fee if it wants, but the important thing I look for is that it gives me full control to set my own custom fee as desired. I can use the third graph of Mempool Size in MB on https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#1,8h to much more accurately judge an appropriate fee than my wallet would suggest.

Additionally to what oeleo said, a wallet that automatically suggest fees always overestimate them.

If everyone uses such a wallet fees are going to be higher than necessary.
Fees should be determined by the free market.

This is how bitcoin was designed to be used, everyone should choose what fee to use according to their demands.

9642  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Electrum wallet - Update safely and avoid phishing wallets? on: October 29, 2019, 04:22:06 PM
After downloading, they can move further by verifying wallets, but I think if they download from official websites, they will be nearly free from phishing attempts. They should do verify, nevertheless, just to be recheck and to be safer.

Relates to official websites, they should not search from Google. Instead of searching, they should remember exactly website address or note those sites on their own ways. Bookmarking on web browsers can be compromised too.

You need to be careful with links always, not only when downloading a wallet.

I always try to search on official media channels, like Reddit, Bitcointalk Ann, Facebook, etc. If all addresses are redirecting to the same domain, I know it is safe to use the application.

Electrum doesn't have social media or whatever, but anyone can find confirmations on forums that electrum.org is the only official website
9643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Survey on Bitcoin ownership on: October 29, 2019, 03:44:26 PM

The idea for the survey comes from the never-ending news that 10-20% of the people in a country are holding coins.
As I truly believe those numbers are at least overhypermega inflated, I tried to picture a survey that would shed some light on a larger

I agree this number is overhyped. But I know about 10-20 people who have bought BTC, many of them already sold (in loss)in Brazil.

However, I have many friends who are really engaged in investments, so my statics may be higher than normal.

Additionally, I believe that many more people are buying bitcoin but I just don't know (this is a private subject, not something public that everyone talks about)
9644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help to fork Ethereum for a community coin on: October 29, 2019, 02:39:46 PM
Ether transactions are so cheap.
I believe you probably don't need to fork ethereum. Free transactions are not going to be good for your community coin, as the system may be abused.

Ethereum is like a global computer. If a global computer is wasting energy, with zero fee transactions, it is a waste of world resources. Also, the network would in risk of ddos atacks
9645  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: As a beginner, which wallet is best for you? on: October 29, 2019, 11:11:11 AM
All that can be summarized in a few words:
- buy a ledger or trezor and use electrum wallet for bitcoin. Use ledger native software for shitcoins.

Having a hardware wallet is a must.you can buy one with less than 100 USD, and you will know your coins are safe.
9646  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitcoinOnline.io V2 is Here! 1st 100 users get free premium accounts for life! on: October 29, 2019, 01:13:42 AM
What is this site about?
I am really worried about clicking this website, promoted by a newbie account who promises "for life"  benefits, but doesn't even tell what this website is about...
9647  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Adult woman asks for help with btc withdrawal. Thank you than I can on: October 28, 2019, 11:42:07 PM
First thing I can say is:

Be careful, do not accept anyone trying to help you via private messages or via email (as they will likely be scammers)

And second thing:

Nobody should send any email or private message to this person, as this person (OP) could really be a scammer.

So, what to do?

Everyone should make all discussions here public.

I can help you, but only in public posts here in this forum.
Do you have 12/24 words seed? Those words are the best way to access your bitcoins. Just download Electrum.org and insert your words there. Then send those funds to Coinbase, or any other great exchange in your country (like bitstamp, kraken, whatever) and sell those bitcoins for Fiat (about 50,000 USD now).
9648  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect forked coins without getting robbed on: October 28, 2019, 08:20:37 PM
As many mentioned , moving your BTC before claiming forks is the most important.
Then you have to worry about your forked coins, which can be robbed also. The best way is to download a good wallet
No doubt the best wallet to claim forks is Coinomi, as this wallet support almost all the forks that have any value. I am surprised no one mentioned it yet.

Use coinomi Mobile version, which is safer than the desktop version. Older and more established
9649  Economy / Reputation / Re: Cryptotalk 1 BTC Contest Manipulation on: October 28, 2019, 08:14:00 PM

Maybe some of you should have open minds and see if there is anything of value to add without being worried about money? After all, it is a forum and not illegal to be members on multiple forums

I think it is a ok to participate in more than one forum, ofc. I particularly participate now in Reddit and bitcointalk, and I am very active in both.(and I post for free in Reddit)
However, I didn't discover those forums like you are suggesting"let's see how this forum works. Does it have good discussions?"

I discovered both of them after being redirect from Google searches, then I learned that for many subjects the best source of information was bitcointalk (in bitcoin subjects) and Reddit (for piracy, altcoins, privacy and many other interesting subjects)

Cryptotalk forum discussions are interesting? Maybe some. But bitcointalk looks better. Maybe they should try other niches? Ethereum Technichal discussions for example lacks a good forum.

Paying spammers to spam there is a complete nonsense. Why didn't they hired some established members to post there? They could pay for 500 word posts for example, or for technical support answers, whatever...

9651  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Btc mining on: October 28, 2019, 06:17:33 PM
Hello Friends,
I am new here and also new to btc mining and trading. i need a guide to grow in here, can anyone please help me with a reliable site where i can gain trading on btc?
Regards  Smiley Smiley

Do you want to mine or trade? You are a bit confused. Mining is something you do to earn coins through your computer and processing power, while trading is something you do on exchanges. They are total unrelated activities, and if you are confused about them I suggest that you don't do any of them.
9652  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin ATM. on: October 28, 2019, 11:55:56 AM

I think there is no space for "later sending money". All transaction must be instant, he can't wait for big price changes can easily lose profits.

Yes, that doesn't even make sense, due to high volatility of bitcoin Price, which could completely change the price of the transactions
9653  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.com has good or bad exchange rate? on: October 27, 2019, 08:22:50 PM
I think the best option is to use https://changelly.com, cheap fees as the conversions don't take time[*].
It is better for you not to trust them when it comes to large deposits. There are some cases where problems have occurred so try small money.

[*] block confirmations are related to the network, fees and some technical variables, not the type of wallet or platform you send.

I saw some people having problems here in this forum with changelly few time ago.
You can check here
 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=823207
There are other alternatives such as instaswap and easyrabbit,.

I used already all of those services, and the exchange rate is somehow good for low volume (better than exchanges, as there is no withdrawal fee).

You should compare the rates of all known services and pick one
9654  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Warning ! Don't handover your fund to third party. on: October 27, 2019, 05:27:18 PM
It may sound radical, but it is better not to use some social networks if you are not completely sure of yourself and your actions. While all of these new modes of communication have their advantages, they have also become tools for anyone looking to make easy money. So just imagine people sitting in front of their computers or having a smartphone in their hands and managing to fool people for thousands of dollars in just one day, all because of human ignorance and greed, and the fact that victims are easily accessible online.

If you rob a bank or a store, you are likely to be caught and put in jail. But in the case of online scams, 99% of cases will not be resolved in favor of the victims, so they will lose money and no one will do almost nothing unless it is a million-dollar scam.

Scams are not exclusive to social networks, you can find just as many scams by simply browsing the web and seeing ads and popups, or seeing spam posts on forums. By that logic you could just advice people to stay away from the Internet because it's full of scams, and also don't use phones, because of phishing calls.

Most people are smart enough to avoid them, but there's a small percentage of those who don't and it's inevitable that they will lose money. These people probably don't browse this section, because they are not proactive about their safety, many of them don't even learn from their mistakes.

I agree, social networks are not the problem. I think on social networks it is even harder to get scammed because many users can advice newbies when a service is suspicious, like so many people here in this forum do (and this forum is a social network).

browsing the web and phishing Websites are much more dangerous for newbies imo

I think newbie is a bad term, maybe "naive users" is better lol

That pic doesn't exactly make me all aroused and horny, but knowing that we're all members of the hottest forum on the planet does.

This forum is really amazing. =D

Getting a 403 on the domain also just as for the image, both on firefox and chrome, but it somehow works on my phone.

I got 403 on fireFox mobile and desktop, but it worked on Brave...

...
Your drawing skills are amazing, I liked your art very much.

I searched for "Drunk fox" on google just to see what I could get, and found this crazy fox holding the bottle like you did. So many other images of foxes on the gallery, they are very nice as well, you might like it. (your fox is much sexier lol)

9656  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How do you like your sig campaign payments. USD vs. BTC on: October 26, 2019, 11:56:49 PM
Dont fool yourself.
If you are getting paid 0.005 BTC a week, and Bitcoin is 10k, or 8k, ir 12k, probably the payment rate will stay the same.
But if price sky rocket to 100k, your payment won't continue 0.005 (maybe only chipmixer campaign will keep payment rates, lol)
But for the rest of the campaigns, it really doesn't make much difference, as they change rates when price change.
9657  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: I GOT HACKED AND LOST 25.000€ ( 1,9 btc) on: October 26, 2019, 10:19:51 PM
I agree with you DiamondCardz, i was beign a dick, sorry for being rude.

Anyway, you were spamming for +1 post, and you know that, because you didn't read anything and just post repeating what was already said and didn't even read the OP, just the title. And you didn't contribute to the discussion, you know that (you didn't even had the  intention to contribute, as you didn't read), this is why it is called spamming.

But that's does not justify being a dick. I edited the post before you answer, not after.
9658  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: I GOT HACKED AND LOST 25.000€ ( 1,9 btc) on: October 26, 2019, 05:12:07 PM
Let this be a lesson to anyone reading this thread.

Ideally, if you must use a web wallet, use a password manager and 2FA at a minimum. But either a hardware wallet or any form of cold storage on an airgapped device is ideal.

I highly doubt that you'd have willingly stored 25k euros on PayPal, yet you stored 25k euros on something even less respected - unfortunately you will never be able to trace that Bitcoin properly, even if it hasn't been fed through mixers it's unlikely that following the trail will give you any form of a lead.

You woke up this dead topic, and didn't even read it before posting?
He didn't use a web wallet, but in an exchange.

Yeah, he should have set a 2FA, which was already recommended...
9659  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best / Worst experience in crypto on: October 26, 2019, 05:09:30 PM
Worst experience: I used constantly Cobinhood exchange during the last 2 years. A few months ago Cobinhood became a scam, people cannot widthraw their funds, Telegram chat is blocked and their token (COB) felt to near zero. I always believed this exchange will come back to life, I constantly refused to see the signs indicating it's scam potential and now I'm still stuck there with a few hundred bucks that I won't see them back most probably.

This history repeats itself over and over again with so many different exchanges around the globe. Simple put, don't keep any funds in exchanges. Buy, move to your wallet. Want to sell? Transfer to exchange, sell, withdrawal fiat. Wanna buy again? Transfer fiat to exchange.
I don't understand why people keep funds in those exchanges.
