I have also noticed, I was unable to download one of the cryptocurrency cores as it was flagged up as being harmful by norton internet security! This is highly likely with all of the cryptocurrency cores as they are open source which means nothing is protecting them from being hacked and placed onto the cryptocurrency's website in order to attack the computers of many users!

if programs are open source then you can look at the code yourself, to see whether or not it is malicious. try that with windows or any other closed-source executable

I'm not great at reading binary code: as that is what the .exe extension usually means, is there a better way to read programms

(disclaimer: i am no expert here)
source code is human readable, you don't have to be a programmer to look at it, neither do you have to fully understand all the nuances of an executable to see if it might be malicious.

 check out github
https://github.com/explore

wean yourself from Windows if you haven't already
i like to dual-boot: when i start my pc i can choose win or lin. i always prefer linux but sometimes i'm stuck with 'doz
open source is awesome
it is the life blood of digital liberty imo.  Cheesy

Hi guys, new to vnl and I got 1400, but when does it start to stake? is there a time period or? just downloaded the wallet now again for my win7, tried to mine yesterday but nothing Sad

shuld start staking after a day or 2. mining with the wallet? prolly not worth the effort - currently difficulty = 22,000+, it swings quite a bit, i've seen it go as high as 70,000. to mine VNL now you need GPU or FPGA  Smiley

remember when PoW was paused for something like 6 weeks some time back? yet the network didn't know the difference. safe to say PoS is working fine.

@losk22 if you really are having a problem setup a vm w/virtualbox and give it a go, maybe you have a software conflict
986  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpartanCoin - Cryptocoin for the competitive world. on: August 26, 2015, 07:30:52 PM
sometimes it pays 2xx,3xx,4xx . so it gets better no?

my vote: min = 400 max= 1000 untill SPN price =BTC0.00000001

but i'd really like to hear other opinions, we're all committing to keep this thing full, idk how much draw to expect, etc ...

also i've only been accumulating for a month or so, it's not like i got billions

Great, it pays every hour around 500 sat. Next task should be to get dev back in the game..

not sure i agree - just now
Success! You have been awarded with 302.3924 SPN!
but yesterday i pulled one @2.something and one @4xx.something, min payout is supposed to be 100, max 500.   i think i'd like to see it a little higher as the price is so low, but that is only one not fully baked opinion  Wink

  so html5 coin sells @ ~.5 satoshi, SPN price = ~0.006HTML5 ... what's that - about a half million for a penny?

what is 'nix?

fluttercoin wallet is "not staking becouse wallet is not online" (and syncing) as I thing
blackcoin - not staking becouse wallet is syncing

Do you think I'm idiot (?)

 thanks for that

'nix is short for Unix, the IBM OS that Linux is derived from. in use it means Linux, the (usually) free open source (and WAY more secure) (and fun to use!) operating system.

- don't think i'd put it that way - but absolutely effing crazy might well describe a windows crypto user with always unencrypted wallets, imho. i'd be extremly careful of what you download if that's the case.

  - never forget that there are some ppl on earth that would not hesitate to murder for some amt of $ or BTC

many wallets of other staking coins has this code, in opensource world it's not too hard to find line of code which make wallet locked when its syncing Grin

oh? news to me! which coin(s) possess  this feature?  i've many PoS wallets, and i too resisted pswding them for a long time, but decided i dislike sloppy interface more than  security  Tongue

guessing you're a 'nix user  Wink

I haven't pswd becouse I hate pswds.
Can someone update this simple code of wallet to correct it?

k lol  Smiley   but i think this is the wrong thread for that - don't know exactly where to point you, maybe look for a bitcoin core thread (ignoring the politics of the moment)...

get it fixed in the btc wallet then we can copy the code  Grin

NOTE:  I am try for the best pure stakes ...

Ahh Ha!    i corrected, i see i missed a technicality. ofc BCC is hybrid ...

...  seems like some stakers have some serious inflation, (HBN, HYP) but POW is ephemeral ... (or in some cases (BTC) reduced to zero inflation (tx fees) at the end)

My wallet is not encrypted/locked

I'm launching wallet sometimes for full sync and some overdue transactons are coming on my wallet during syncing as avalanche of unconfirmed receivings.
this transactions should be coming only when my walet is full synced and its processing for confirmed PoS blocks, I guess.
The result, I have 4000+ unconfirmed repeated transactions.

granted that the wallet should wait for full synch before it starts data processing, no doubt someday they all will ... havn't you noticed that BTC is still in beta?

but for now, why not give it a pswd to stop the problem?

i guess #2 might be Nova

that's great , but please put it @ min.500 sat....otherwise is not going to attract people

i 'gree, that's what we need, and i mentioned that to the programmer the other day. that's also why i'm asking everyone to give it some testing

  - does it output every hour?
  - how many are you getting

if a few of us can get some meaningful data we'll be more likely to get the resuts we want  Wink

I would be highly skeptical of any claims about eliminating GPU mining for this coin.  That was the initial claim when the coin was launched and that proved to be false.  You can have a dev change the code but someone will still make a GPU miner for it.  That's a fact.  Besides, what's the point of making it non-GPU at this point anyway?

Because there will be a second higher reward distribution period coming up in about a month and a half.

sooner i think; 1 month into it we're a little over 1/2 way there. reward increases ~@ blk 150,000?  blk 85360 now  Smiley
