981  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The effect of border opening to a country on: June 09, 2023, 11:55:35 PM
weapons can be smuggled in
When you talk about smuggling, whether or not border is closed, smuggling takes place. So, rather than a government trying to close bother totally, they should instead try to reinforce the agencies in charge of checking the Inter country movement of goods and people.
If you because of bad eggs and shut the whole border against a country, it will bounce back to your people when your business will begin to cripple.
The world is connected, everyone country needs another's help to survive.
982  Economy / Economics / Re: To Hodl or Lend: What is your take? on: June 09, 2023, 11:36:54 PM
Basically I am a holder.
but on the other hand, this will depend on what kind of person and goal you are. Holding for me is more precious to do because this is for Bitcoin. Something tht is very risky but o  the other hand can be exactky very promising at once. As long as we have the right time to do DCA and make more for holding, it will be exactly worthy, won't it?

I have never heard the concept of lending or do it, so after reading Op, I thought they were trying to explain staking in another method. This is because in staking you still need to give up your capital for a certain period of time for a percentage interest.
But if lending means to give out all the coins such that you won't see it in your portfolio any more until it is returned, I think it is risky to do.
I won't risk my capital for a little profit. I will better be patient till when bull run comes and the coins will still grow in my hands.
If you really do not know about lending, it simply means you probably don't make use of centralized exchanges, or yet to get familiar with all their features, or lending services like Celsius before they went bankrupt..
Lending is pretty much very popular In the crypto currency industry, staking is also another means through which investors get to earn some interest as well, and is completely different from lending, leading means borrowing your money out completely, to earn some interest when the borrower returns the money...

And yeah, I agree wit you though, I would rather hold my money my self, than lend it out, but I believe one of the reasons why investors lend their asset is because it helps them to hold much longer without having the temptation to sell, you can't possibly want to sell an asset that is not in your possession.
You are right that I do not much about centralized exchanges. I don't honestly know, even the staking I'm.saying about, I haven't done also. I came into the crypto space and embraced bitcoin directly. And with bitcoin you may not get bit returns ad you may desire but one thing is sure that you will have some peace of mind.
I do not mind having to learn about these 1000 means to earn in the crypto world. But my reluctance is that the crypto space itself is a risk. Being in it is risky and going into more other risk may be very bad if not well handled by the person.
983  Economy / Economics / Re: Quit borrowing on: June 09, 2023, 11:13:53 PM
Borrowing and then investing is a way that many people use, especially those who want to get rich quickly in a reckless way. This really happened from the case of my friend who borrowed money online and then invested, he really got rich, but strangely he didn't hold his wealth for long, less than a year he went bankrupt and even left borrowing debt, that's even sadder than just unemployment , he is looking for a way to get out of debt with a simple job to pay off the debt but it is difficult to make ends meet.
unnecessary borrowing can be killing
There is a group of people who would damage the peace of other people for their own benefit.
they would borrow money and would just run away with their ugly desires but God is always there.

There are different types of borrowing;
  • Borrowing  for Investment  Purpose
  • Borrowing  because you are living above your income
I totally made up the 2 types of borrowing above. If you find yourself borrowing for an investment purpose, I do not see alot of problems with it. If you have a workable plan and investment idea, you could turn super rich.
But in the other hand, if you borrow because what you earn monthly does not sustain you, you are in the speed lane of living an unhappy life and which may lead to long time poverty. If you live above what you earn, don't borrow, just reduce your expense.

985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I was shocked that my Neighbor also used bitcoin as mode of payment on: June 07, 2023, 11:58:14 PM
Nice story, but, assuming it's true, it doesn't seem to me the best time to accept Bitcoin payments in a physical store, being the fees to get a transaction confirmed in the next block around $2. If I'm going to buy $10 worth of items in the store why should I have to wait ten minutes on average and pay a 20% fee if paying with cash I don't pay fees and I don't have to wait.
I have to believe that the plenty of people who sell groceries and paste the bitcoin accepted never gets customers to patronize them with bitcoin. It could be that they put those signs for formality purpose and for people to see them that they are upto date and enlightened.
When I see this type of post, I have to think about the wait time and who bears the transaction fees which is likely that they will be sending through exchanges and not wallets.

Using LN would make more sense, but you would have to open a channel with each customer, so neither.

Even many people here have never tried the LN payment and know how it works, let alone a shop owner who bearly knows about bitcoin.
I have been hearing these types of stories and I don't have strong reasons to believe them, but there are reasons not to believe because there are no evidences.
986  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a special thread for learning posts? on: June 07, 2023, 11:38:04 PM
Is there a dedicated thread for beginners to learn how to use this forum and how to test post?

As a beginner, it seems I need a special place, such as:

1. Test creating a post
2. Test make a post with special characters like (quote, color, insert code, font, etc)
2. Test make a quote in the comments
3. Test make multi quote in the comments
4. Others

Or Archival is a theard dedicated to test posting?

edit: Sorry, I misplaced this thread. I think I made on a beginner's board.
If I should say, there is no problems here. If Op can figure out how to create a topic without being taught, they can figure out how to do every other things just by reading posts in the forum.
This is a discussion forum and not social media. Even in social media like facobok, no one creates special place to tell you how to use facebook. It will rather be fun if you discover these things yourself without being spoon fed. That is the joy of it and evidence that you are a newbie.
987  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Conference League 2022/23 Season on: June 07, 2023, 11:19:20 PM

CONGRATULATIONS WESTHAM UNITED
From the equal odds provided by the bookmakers, you will understand that the match is balanced and what played out was what I expected for a final. Westham took the lead in the second half and was almost immediately equalized by Fiorentina. But it took more than a bold step for Bowen to give the win to his club.
Big guys are known for big games and Bowen is known for delivering in big matches. I remember last season he got brace from Manchester City.
This trophy is a consolation to Moyes who played good football last season and even went throughout the Europa group stage unbeaten and yet trophyless.
Now he is sure of playing in the Europa League next season.
988  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 07, 2023, 11:03:42 PM

Here we go!

After going through many rumors for half a year, Jude Bellingham finally answered that he chose Real Madrid as his new home. An extraordinary transfer fee of around 100 million euros plus add-ons of 30 million euros makes him one of the most expensive young players this season. It seems that Florentino Perez did not hesitate to spend that much for Bellingham from Dortmund and the era of Los Galacticos volume 2 seems to be starting soon since Bellingham's arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu. I think Real Madrid will not sit idly by for all competitions next season and they are also ready to compete with other top European teams.
First: Congratulations to Jude Bellingham for having a place in the dream club of many players. Many people have dreamt to play for Real Madrid but their dreams didn't come true.
Also, many people moved to Real Madrid but didn't live upto expectations. But I wish Jude well, he is a young talent.
Second: Congratulations to Real Madrid for securing the signature of Jude Bellingham despite major links to his home country England to join his country men. Atleast there is a great replacement for Grandpa Modric.
989  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 06, 2023, 11:49:19 PM

I am happy for Karim Benzema. He has served the good world of football very well, he has been humble and dutiful in both club and nation, this is time for him to go and enjoy and also retire well.
He appeared and won almost everything possible even in the generation of Messi and Ronaldo. My love and respect for him is very high.
Also Ngolo Kante is a very down to earth footballer. Although I would have wished he remained in the Europe for sometime but since he made his choice, I respect that and love him with my heart . Congratulations to the happy dude.
990  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How i can manage my job and my Bitcoin Trading at the same time? on: June 06, 2023, 11:06:20 PM
Hi, I hope you are all doing well. I am a teacher and teach students about IT. But from my job, I cannot fulfil my expenses that why start learning about Bitcoin the last 3 months my friend told me about the Bitcointalk forum in start working on bounties but not earned any money yet Now he said to make post other section will help me to trade and earning. I read the rules before posting. Can someone guide me on how I manage my time and earn money from trading what is an effective way to start?

I don't like giving information that concerns bitcoin trading and other methods of its investment without briefing you of the disadvantages, I believe that bitcoin trading or trading have basics functions for a beginner to be able to know the advantages and the disadvantages to avoid some certain things that's not comprehensive. You most not serve two master's at a time, if you want to learn bitcoin and trading, you have to devote out time to learn bitcoin, because I believe that trading is more dangerous than buying and selling of bitcoin, because if you don't understand the scope and precautions of trading, you will end up of losing your money.
He does not need to leave his job in order to start earning from bitcoin or start trading to make profit.
The perfect thing to do is when you have a real time job, you use your spare time to learn bitcoin and invest in Bitcoin. In fact bitcoin investment does not even need much time in less than 5 minutes one must have bought bitcoin and kept in their wallet.
What actually will consume time is if they want to trade bitcoin and altcoins too.
If that is the case, he could still be learning and trading and still be using the Bitcoin forum while he continued to do his job where he will be getting money.

It is fine he already has a source of income. Even if it is not enough, it can keep him going while he learn about Bitcoin.
Many people who find it difficult in cryptocurrency as a whole are people who did not have were they earn before. They just come in empty-handed and hoping to become bitcoin millionaires overnight.
991  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Illuminate this tiny brain of mine because I am focused. on: June 06, 2023, 10:38:22 PM
How can they tell which token or coin is security and which is not?
On research the best answer I got is that they consider which crypto is sufficiently decentralized and determines that it is not a security. I can only think that decentralized projects cannot give ownership cause there is no central point of control.
If centralization and decentralization of a project is the major determinant of whether a coin/token would be referred as a security or a commodity, it therefore means that there will be an unending conflicts and misunderstanding between the project owners and the SEC.
This is because some projects are centralized while they pose to the public to be decentralization. Apart from bitcoin, there are no much of them if any that is 100% decentralization. Does this therefore means that SEC will soon take over the cryptocurrency industry all in the name of security regulations?
992  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why we kicked out cryptocurrency - CBN on: June 06, 2023, 10:19:38 PM
Apart from the government of Nigeria, government of other part of the world, especially the Western countries who even know better and are more civilized find it very difficult to control inflation. The only known means they have to curtail inflation is to print more money and printing more money will in the long run push the country on a very bigger inflation and recession.
That was exactly what played out, because the Nigerian government and the Central Bank wanted to print more money as it seems to be the only way to solve the inflation problem. Since what they know is only to print money, they equally thought that cryptocurrency is something you can print unlimited and maybe get rich overnight without any kind of regulation.
993  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: doing extra effort will help a lot on: June 04, 2023, 12:45:22 AM
Not everyone wants to try their hands on one particular thing for a long time even if it doesn't work. They may think that there is alot of opportunity out there, if this will take much time to work, why not switch to another and give a trial and this is the reason people are less persistent nowadays
994  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is lying now part of human nature? on: June 04, 2023, 12:18:33 AM
Lying & deceit has probably always been part of human nature. Even since early man there was probably deceit & theft of food or mate etc.

Humans follow laws but many have no moral compass. Nothing that human beings are capable of is off limits really. There are many bad people in the world sadly.

Lying is part of human nature but there are people that do it out of proportion. I have heard a real life experience of this and I was so much surprised.
I cannot say I don't lie, but if I tell lies I rarely do it and maybe I do it only when it's necessary. Either to save someone or to gain escape punishment, such as lies to your manager or lecturer for missing at work or in examination respectively.

But then I have lives with someone who tells 90% lies in everyday life. This dude tells lies and uses lies to cover lies and unfortunately it has become part of him that he cannot be able to say the truth anymore.

996  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Force Your Children to Learn Bitcoin on: June 03, 2023, 11:46:31 PM
Teaching children on bitcoin is like the latest threads in the forum. It is good to tell our children about bitcoin in their tender ages but destiny is not something you force someone to achieve. Just like the general saying that "You can take a horse to the river but you cannot force it to drink the water". That's, it is good to tell your children about bitcoin but you cannot force him or her to learn bitcoin if it is not in the mind of the child and if that is not the child's calling in life.

Just like another instant again, it is a Ghanaian Play called "Sons and Daughters by Joe De Graft". The father wanted his daughter to study law while the some for medicine but the boy wanted to study Fine and Applied Arts while the girl wanted to study Theatre Arts but the father refused. There was a day the boy's friend drew Ghanaian President and the picture was bought with a very big amounts of money which was about millions and it was broadcasted on National TV and Radio Stations and the father heard about the news and he called his children and advised them to study what they like.

I think that play is a very big lesson to everyone in the contemporary world. So if your children are not interested to learn bitcoin please don't force them. Everyone has their own destiny.
You were just making sense from the title to when you started the body of the post. But you went off track when you started mentioning destiny and studying law in your instances.
Bitcoin is not a course of study. Incase you have forgotten, bitcoin is a currency whose price fluctuates and some people makes money through bitcoin because of the price fluctuations.

It is absolutely fine to teach your child about bitcoin if the investment aspect of it is not involved. But since one can lose money in Bitcoin, it will be fine to teach a child the investment aspect of it when they are able to earn and spend their own money.
997  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The effect of Bitcoin on children on: June 03, 2023, 11:27:42 PM
[snip]
I am also one of those people who do not believe that your story is true.
From my point of view, the story you tell looks like it's just a fabrication to make the reader's interest as if it were real.

Children are innocent in the sense that they easily accept any information. If today he is taught about the Bitcoin logo, then they will try to depict the Bitcoin logo for a few days. When they get another, more interesting image, they will forget about the Bitcoin logo and will try to depict the newly received image.

Maybe OP is unmarried and has children.  indeed, kids are naive, and they won't care what it is, so it doesn't make any sense for them to draw the bitcoin logo.  My kid also saw the bitcoin icon on my phone, he was so excited when he saw it for the first time.  but as soon as you give him something newer and more colorful, he will immediately forget what was before.  just because kids draw bitcoin and play with bitcoin models doesn't mean they will be interested in it.
Is nativity the best word you could come up with to describe children? I rather think that children are lovely and we can say that they are curious and moat times inquisitive of what they do not know about.
The B shape of BTC and the yellow color will drag children attention to it. You never can tell if one child said to the other, "I have found a new way to write alphabet B and the other will say teach me and they will begin to bitcoin logo.
I don't think that this creates any kind of public awareness but as the kinds grow, they will remember when they were drawing bitcoin and they will regret, maybe bitcoin will be $1m then. Grin
998  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆 The Emirates FA Cup - Season 2022/2023 on: June 03, 2023, 11:16:06 PM
Man City is too superior to Man United AT THIS TIME! But even so, at least Man United have now found the right coach to return to being a respected team in Europe, after more than a decade United have been confused about finding a replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson.

I don't understand what you meant by Manchester City is too superior to Manchester United. Do you understand what superiority means or you decided to use it out of context. We all know that Manchester City is arguably the most inform club in the world but that did not make Manchester United not to face them equally.
I have to praise Manchester United who rather started the match in a bad way. Imaging in less than 1 minute into a final, a team like Manchester city scored. Bit Manchester United had to fight to equalize and they continued to press until the second non serious goal entered. Both goals were not outstanding and definitely goalkeeper's fault.

Can you remember the score line of Manchester City vs Manchester United last meeting before the finals? It was in favour of Manchester United, so get your data well before you declare.
999  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The effect of Bitcoin on children on: June 02, 2023, 11:49:53 PM
I'm gonna bet $100 that this didn't really happen.
This got me laughing and rolling on the floor. The rate at which stories are made up and shared here in the forum is alarming. I do not know if the essence of making up such stories is to complete post quota, or to earn merits, maybe just to entertain people or to show off their skills in composing fictional literature.
In as much as there's no evidence attached to the post, you may be correct that it's a totally made up story and the OP may be saying reality. Do we have a choice? We must believe either.
1000  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEWBIES: A good way to start-up with crypto. on: June 02, 2023, 11:26:02 PM
Apart from having a good knowledge of cryptocurrency in order to avoid scam, another thing that leads people, especially newbies to scam is greed.
Pay one and recieve two;
Some people actually believes there is free money somewhere out there waiting to be grabbed and that is why they fall victim of scams promising them unrealistic returns and in the end, most of them end up concluding that cryptocurrency is scam, not knowing that they are the ones that chose scammy projects.
