1862  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Old phone as cold storage? on: January 02, 2023, 11:56:02 PM
I guess this is much better than a hot wallet but still not as secure as true cold storage such as Electrum on an air-gapped PC.
Well, all DIY-made stuffs have always its cons. But an unused, updated android patch security, stock rom, and using it while in safe mode android phones is a bit good option for a cold storage stuff (or if there's a alternate word/term for it than using cold-storage) and better than other web/hot wallets out there.
1863  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Tips: encourage your customers to pay with bitcoin on: January 02, 2023, 11:02:23 PM
  • Offer a discount for customers who pay with Bitcoin. This could be a percentage off their purchase, or a fixed amount if they use Bitcoin to pay.
I don't know how much discount you can offer to still remain relevant and gainish in the market. We don't because we want to accept bitcoin and run into losses.
Instead of giving discount to people paying with Bitcoin, you can opt to take care of the transaction fee which could be the reason some people will avoid paying with bitcoin, especially people paying from exchanges.
Indeed, despite of being mentioned already about lightning implementation for a business accepting bitcoin payments, OP  still not adding lightning in the OP while talking on how members can suggest to improve the main post.

Taking a 30%-40% profit margin from a product will not harm the business if it only provides a 10% discount for bitcoin payments.
Where did you get these numbers? Have you tried to run a business?
Most retails only profits for 10% or even lesser for every product, for restaurants 20% profit is already high for every food they sell. Giving 10% discount will hurt the business despite of making an initiative for bitcoin implementation.

You may give discounts only for old stocks, near expiry, products that were not sold for longer time. The rest will only give you bad result than good.

Most people knows bitcoin already. At the time like this, in customer's point of view, i will hold my bitcoin instead of using it for purchase.
For a business, making a "we accept bitcoin (/lightning) payment" sign with a QR code either in a paper or digital screen is enough to encourage customers to pay with bitcoin if they want to, others are not necessary, discounts are just optional.

Since it was an .exe file, did you happen to installed the .exe file? Or open it? If not, good, try to delete the file (shift+delete) and full scan your computer with an anti-virus.
If it was unfortunately installed, try to uninstall it on your program list, although i dont know if its enough but do it asap, full scan your AV and do things that is recommended by your AV, or the least i could think is to reset your pc.

Here's the twitter post[1] if people will mind.

I dont know if the guy is trolling, or not. But if its true, its morr than of 211 Bitcoin was stolen to this address[2]. He is one of bitcoin core developer, right? I wonder what wallet he is using, surely if its a hardware wallet the chance it getting compromised is low.
Also, as said, PGP is compromised too looks like the device was the one being targeted.

More particularly, this rule only rules on Alternate cryptocurrencies[1] board and its sub boards not on gambling related boards. Although maybe @theymos and global mods (@hilariousandco) can enlighten us about this as well.
Also here are one of the cons breaking the rules.
That is very much not allowed. The threads are trashed, the poster is banned for 60 days, everyone who participated is banned for 3 days, and everyone who participated cannot display a signature for 30 days.

1867  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing national lottery smart or waste of time? on: January 01, 2023, 03:47:20 PM
I  also consider it a waste of money and time...

If we'll total her total betting amount, it would be huge enough for her to out up a business. I don't think it's a wise or even smart move because I could feel that most bettors are putting too much hope in it.
That's what almost everyone talks or lines talking to a lottery bettor or to a gambler.

While it will only be a waste of money when you prioritize your betting than your needs, or particularly speaking when you are not enjoying or getting excited betting, assuming people do this for entertainment, for gambling addiction better to take from professional advice.

Now, if you are indeed serious of talking of such line on every lottery bettor or simply to any gambler, then this board might not good for you, because most here will oppose of that statement considering most people here do gambling for how many years.

1868  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Warning] 3Commas API keys leaked! on: January 01, 2023, 02:48:05 PM
According to their latest Tweet, it does not seem like an inside job after they did their investigation. But it is unclear if the lack of evidence is the result of no inside job or simply a good job from the cracker to clean their history. Not really a good look at their image after they told their users that they got phished.
I still doubt its the case, no company will admit that it's one of them, it's mentioned in the article that a third party disclosed/leak the APIs, so what's the third party to be exact? They are now redirecting blames to others instead of being sorry and claim the responsibility and refund their users. Well, its the same ceo who immediately blamed their users for being phished and hacked after reporting the case to them.
1869  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing national lottery smart or waste of time? on: January 01, 2023, 02:25:42 PM
I wont call it a waste of time, either waste of money its very cheap to participate actually, well, in my country, yes. Although i wont call it a smart move either.

It's true that doing gambling will give you higher odds for getting a win, but nothing compare to a winning of a jackpot prize from the lottery.
1870  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinballer - An open-source multi-player Bitcoin gambling game. on: January 01, 2023, 02:45:45 AM
Or some will make their multiple accounts to participate the game.
How can the OP make sure that there will be no cheating on this game?
Also, with what is happening these days, how can you trust the word of an anonymous person?
Assuring no rug pull will happen if he will be holding a significant amount of money.
Making multiple accounts won't give benefits the cheaters of whatever you call them for this game since only one who will win – the one with biggest bets of the day.

About the holding of funds, it depends on the reputation of OP and the site, its like doing escrow here, which needs of time to allocate to make a good reputation – its all about trust. Which i think is need risks knowing there are escrows or services who runs its users funds after building its reputation.
If something a smart contract can do about the holding and dispersing the funds to the winner, it will be a great feature.
1871  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinballer - An open-source multi-player Bitcoin gambling game. on: December 31, 2022, 08:34:26 PM
Please anybody let me know if there's anything else I can do to increase my reputation.
Unfortunately, you cant fasten this process, but being actively posting here your updates, doing trades to anyone, as well as following some recommendations to your site, fixing/solving issues, etc. can help. Well, also running a signature campaign which i saw that you already did will also build reputation of someone else business/service here.
1872  Other / Meta / Re: What one change would you like to see in bitcointalk in 2023 on: December 30, 2022, 10:59:05 PM
My only wish is to have an update for Epochtalk - a new forum software. As far as I know, since the last update, the new software was mostly done.
Damn, everyone is deadly waiting for this, i really wish it will be available in the next year. But, but I saw the repository's[1] last commit was way back 2021? So what development happened for this year?
If this is nearly done, announcing it for testing phase(on https://beta.bitcointalk.org/) will be the best thing theymos could ever done for the whole decade (as this development is nearly decade) next to deploying it.

1873  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos: is it possible to get an exception from Cloudflare for scrapers? on: December 29, 2022, 11:12:19 PM
Have you tried to recreate your bot maybe?
Recreate? It will be a waste of time and resources.
What would be the difference if the main problem is in cloudflare itself. Also there are lots of cases that cloudflare is not doing good to other sites too these past few days. So better be patience and wait till they fix it or unless theymos tweak something on the config or something.
1874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ethgames.fun ! no deposit required on: December 29, 2022, 03:25:04 AM
The bad part of this is that now compulsive gamblers can drain their wallets to 0 if they choose to, but before that they were able to do the same just with a bit more hassle.
That's actually what is the most alarming of such feature, it might be convenient way to others but not for everyone. Most casinos today have "Responsible gambling/gaming" which to reduce the negative effect in gambling and here another "feature" just to justify the "convenience" of "no deposits required".
1875  Other / Off-topic / Re: Team USA will play in the Philippines for the FIBA WORLD CUP 2023 on: December 28, 2022, 11:53:25 PM
So they're trying to milk out Filipino people via imposing those expensive prices tickets or entries? Come to think that the pandemic situation did really affect each country globally which there would be no exemptions
It's a business, you can't do business without getting profit. On the other hand this is a one in a lifetime opportunity to basketball to fans, besides this is not compulsory lol. Of course those who can afford only will try to buy such tickets and it's fair enough actually.
1876  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Warning] 3Commas API keys leaked! on: December 28, 2022, 11:06:32 PM
All this kind of hack especially for API leak is mostly an inside job, these companies should taken actions on how to prevent any employee have a directly access to these list or the confidential systems/records
And 3commas should take responsibility those users who have been stolen, since it's primarily their fault, in which they blame their users at first.
1877  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: December 28, 2022, 09:36:45 PM
Gambling should only be for entertainment for me, for fun, or maybe to cope with stress and sometimes testing how lucky i am with a small hope to win in every bet lmao.
Anything else, it should  be taken for moderation, anything that is too much is not helpful, especially when it becomes an addiction.
1878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ethgames.fun ! no deposit required on: December 28, 2022, 12:55:19 PM
Is this website yours? Sounds suspicious to me, why theres no deposits required? Does it mean that your wallet will be deducted in your every bet? Sounds a no-no to me, also there no enough info on the site even the "Rules" page sounds confusing and the site looks like rushed.
1879  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Prime Trust - what do they do? on: December 27, 2022, 10:13:16 PM
What do Prime trust do that you can't do as an individual?

You chose crypto because there is an option to have full control of your funds, why then would you then go ahead and put trust in a custodial service with your crypto?
While it is important to have control over your own crypto assets, for all regulations and requirements any crypto businesses are facing, businesswise, there are situations in which it may be beneficial to use a trusted third-party service to provide added security, convenience and peace of mind.
1880  Other / Off-topic / Re: Team USA will play in the Philippines for the FIBA WORLD CUP 2023 on: December 27, 2022, 04:27:54 AM
Category 3 is like premium seating. Cat 5 accounts for around 70% of the seats and it is the more affordable one.
Obviously, coz it is more expensive than the other 2 category.
It's only an example of mine in relation on a one time payment for all of the games, and there's no refund going to be made. So you need to go there whatever happen to you personally before the games also its prohibited to resell the tickets.

And no, the Cat 5 won't even cover 50% of the sets, maybe when Cat 5 and Cat 4 is combined to make it 70% of the total seats.
