Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymous ICOs?

I think it's possible but I also think most ICOs are going to have to accept a wider variety of coins, Litecoin is fast and cheap but doesn't seem to be accepted as a means of payment which I really don't get. Zcash and monero would also have to start being accepted as these are so far as I know the best privacy coins.
Honestly I think Bitcoin is starting to get overrated, the fee's are quite high and the anomosity is relatively low.

Few years ago I was able to buy all I need to survive for €100 ($120) a week (rent not included). Today I at least need €200 ($240), although I mostly buy the same stuff as before. What do you think is the reason and what implication does it have long term?
Also depends on what your living standards are, not to say you live luxury but others do with a smaller budget. If you spend more in an area such as going out for drinks then yeah it has gotten allot more expensive, or if you smoke it's atleast 3x or 4x as expensive. Not saying you do. But if you really find yourself paying allot of means of living and relaxing then it's best to revise your spendings.

IMO There must be a huge amount of redundant addresses left out there with money on. Someone in Ether world may have a solution to rectify this?... Money value stays there, unnecessarily IMO.
The same you got say about millionaires and billionaires keeping their money locked away from public, not being invested not being used to develop benefits for society and people. It's private property as far as I know so yeah it's your opinion and that's it. But no I don't think there are an amount of redundant adresses with money on it. I use etherwallet and I have send from it and there's currently nothing in it. empty.

Hello, since joining bitcoin forum and investing/trading crypto I've encountered the words slack and telegram allot. It seems there are allot of coins that use slack as a chat group? I've tried joining slack but there's a fee and it's aimed at people who want to team for a project? Am I at the right slack?
Can anyone point me in the right direction, such as where to create an account?
Thanks!

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Real Reason China Banned Exchanges? Cryptocurrency is a Ponzi Scheme

Didn't know about st. kitts but what point are you exactly trying to make other than we supposedly get a ''new elite'' but instead of banking it will be crypto. Honestly fiat isn't exactly worth anything more than crypto, it's just the believe in these currencies that gives it is value. Expecting we can get goods and services in return for a note, coin or a byte.
If you really want to be save during all this and you're expecting the worse you're better off just hodling gold. I would be hodling gold/silver way rather than crypto or fiat.
You don't think the same happens on wall street? How many people invest and lose their money in DOW, AEX or other baskets. It's always a small group of people making money over the back of others. the whole financial institution is a ponzi scheme. Society is a ponzi scheme, we always make everyone compete and in a race of 10 people, 100 people or a million there's gonna be only 1 no. 1 and 1 no. 2 and 1 no. 3 etc.
I really like the idea of crypto aswell and I understand your concern but when talking about the negatives of these currencies fiat and crypto are just as worse. Crypto however is stimulated by an idealogy of sovereign money. Now I think all idealogy's are inherently uncorrect, the word wrong would be too strong. And crypto cannot fully ever replace fiat, it ain't possible.
Fiat and crypto cannot last forever, nothing does. It seems that gold, silver and other metals are the only things that can guarantee any form of safety net when things go bad. If you really forsee such a thing happening as you described where you get a run on the exchanges but there's no money then you're best off going into gold and silver cause it could skyrocket harder than bitcoin eve will.
Crypto creates money out of nowhere and so do the banks with fiat, in the end it's a large group getting F******* by a small group but people are to divided and selfish.

What I think is weird is that people still rely on a book for answers that really anyone could have written.. I think its weird that manichaeism isn't the global religion. I think its weird that Alexander actually said he wanted to be dyonisos. Sure he did what he wanted and got away with it but someone who masturbates in the street isn't really someone I'd wish to be when growing up. I think it's weird that Plato said that originally We had four arms and four legs and 2 faces before the gods split us in half dooming us to seeking our other halves and that this isn't the most mainstream belief given that so many people look for this true love. I think it's weird Islam means peace and still so many crimes from it are committed. (not saying other religions don't) I think it's weird that philosophy is dying. I think it's weird that history repeats itself so many times, I mean at some point you gotta get it right? I also think its weird that I live in one of the best educated countries in the world and seemingly everyone is still a moron. I can't even imagine what the rest of the world must be like. But given what I see it ain't all to good.
What a weird world indeed. '

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Sending ethereum to bitfinex

Hello I want to deposit some ethereum on bitfinex but I understand that they don't support smart contracts, I am using myetherwallet would you guys say it's safe for me to go ahead with the transaction or advice against it? Anyone got experience in this?
The coin I want to buy isn't availble on other exchanges (yet). And I'm too much of a poor broke bastard to go buy bitcoin to support my endavour.
All help is appreciated.
I had the exact same concern as you just a few days ago. I don't send ETH out of my wallet (MyEtherWallet) very often and I had never sent to Bitfinex. I took a chance with a smaller amount at first and just did a typical send (21000 gas limit), and it arrived at Bitfinex with no issues. Confirmed and released into my account in ~15 minutes. So I would say, go for it. Just don't leave funds on the exchange for long. You never know what might happen... Awesome, I also tried sending a smaller amount but I guess etherwallet found my small amount too small (couple of dollars) and wouldn't go trough with it. Thanks for the reply!

Other / Politics & Society / Re: What do you mean by 3rd world countries ?
|
on: September 09, 2017, 06:07:52 AM
|
Previously the term Third World was originally coined in times of the Cold War to distinguish those nations that are neither aligned with the West (NATO) nor with the East, Soviet Union - the Communist bloc. First World: United States, United Kingdom and their allies. Second World: Soviet Union, China, and their allies. Third World: neutral and non-aligned countries.
In modern era - It has been observed that, most of the western countries has mindset that, all the 3rd world countries are poor and underdeveloped ( Mostly in Asia - Africa). China belongs to second world but they also have lot of poverty; western countries are unaware of that. In fact, many countries in Asia are developed or developing and their economy is much higher that European countries but still they think 3rd world countries are much poor.
What do you think about this ?
Generally 3rd world countries are referred to countries that are generally undeveloped, economically would be the biggest reference of measuring this. As certain places can be developed economically but lack social development. A good idea of a 3rd world country is papa gunnia(?) where they still burn witches... and the best example for a 2nd world country would be india in my opinion. A 1st world country by almost leading example would be one of the scandinavian country's.

Economy / Economics / Re: Mental barrier stops from buying BTC
|
on: September 09, 2017, 05:48:09 AM

Not so long ago we've all whitnessed bitcoin at price 2k usd per btc. Now it is 4k. Sometimes before buying BTC I have a strong feeling that the price will fall pretty soon and I hould wait a bit before buying. Usually it all ends bad. Anyone have the same problem? How are you dealing with it?
I think you can deal with this by informing yourself understand in what stage we are with this whole cryptoscene. It's still in the early adaptors phase (=$$$) to put it plain 'n simple. If you're planning to make a quick buck than the hesitation is because you don't have the intell to make a reasonable price prediction. If you're looking for a longterm investment well then you should just do it and stop giving a fly if it is 2000, 3000 or 4000 as most likely it will still exponentially rise in the long term. If I had been a bit smarter watching this scene passively for 4 years I'd have breaken trough my barrier and bought when I saw btc @ 300 but I found it all too complicated. I wanted to buy ethereum when it was under a dollar but found the process to complicated. Now I don't find it complicated but rather sketchy... Hope this helps a bit.

Economy / Economics / Re: So, you want to be rich? All of you ?
|
on: September 09, 2017, 05:42:00 AM
|
Just imagine. If ALL OF US would be rich, that means we would live our lives out from dividends, or any passive income of at least $1k a month. Then it would be jawesome, right ? Well, but then I do have a question. WHO on this Earth would bake the bread for ALL OF US ? Robots, you might say? OK, nice idea. But then, WHO on Earth would maintenance these robots ? Another robots ? I don't think so. Even if so, even if there would be a Skynet of robots, who would not just bake the bread, but also harvest the grains, transport it, deliver to our doors. What then ? We could eat for free, as much as you want? Cool, but what about overweight then. Doctor? But hey wait, NO ONE on this Earth work, so we have no doctors. OK, we have Doctor Robots. Who would teach our kids? Robots! Who would change the diapres? Robot! Even if humans would master all this, we would need to have all the knowledge to teach our robots to work for us. To be slaves for us. (no minds, just pure robotic hands/arms and so on, Tesla's and autopilots) But even then, there is one huge problem. I do not want to touch any country, or race, or group of people, but imagine, if you put infinite amount of resources to any kind of animal (including humans), they would reproduce themselves to infinite. Because they simply can. Because parents do not need to parent their kids anymore, because we have robots! So we would need a limit of reproducing, no right to reproduce as much as you can handle (infinite resources), because we would simple have like 50-100billion people on this planet, and there would be no robots who could grow so much grains to bake bread. (perhaps hyper dense pills could be the away). So, back to the original question, why do people believe, they all can be rich ? It was, is, and will be, ALWAYS about that who is going to earn more, not enough, but more than the others. Why? If there is only one mansion on the Bahamas, which is large enough, sunny enough, sexy enough, there is no freaking way, ALL OF US could buy it. Just one. 1. One. And if only 10 buyers come with their million, to who would seller sell this mansion to? First ? But second also have million and ALL OF US want to be rich (own that one mansion). So second would have to offer 2 million, right? Wrong. No one would want to sell such mansion in the first place, as he is already rich. We all are.
Actually I have no problem in working, I do however have a problem working making someone else wealthy/rich repeating the same verse every day doing 8 to 5 or shifts. While someone born with a silver spoon never and never will have to work ever enjoying a luxury life though I imagine them being very unfulfilled and superficial. I think the post you made actually sums a big underlying issue in society that everyone wants that golden ticket to fly off and give a big middlefinger to the rest, honestly allot of people don't even get the chance to possibly become rich and you're still one of the lucky few out in billions that get born into a supposedly free country (atleast you can speak your mind.) and what I assume a decently healthy body. Most people don't even have acces to proper education still, think of all the wasted talents and smarts? You could be born as some african boy working the mines for the rest of his life so his superiors can buy weapons to supress the people that get them those weapons in the first place and conquer territory because fuck who wants to work in a mine?

I think ends justify means is just a slogan to move people into what they know is immoral. A clever tactic to manipulate the fragile and ignorant human mind. I think I will go with plato and his idea's of the soul meaning that your actions do matter in the long run and it means the difference between lasting hapiness and short suffering or quick fading false hapiness and long periods of suffering.

China is just making it's next step in the game of chess that they play with the USA. Honestly I think that a economic shift is imminent and unavoidable the exact outplay of it is what you can speculate on. It's a process though which is happening already, might take a few decades but it will play out.
