Thanks for sharing the info. Thats a positive sign for future of woman cricket team. If Aus and England can do that then other big boards like India, CNZ, SA can also do that. The man and woman cricket should be played side by side so that rest of the world also gets an idea that woman are in cricket too.
I really don't know whether the BCCI wants that. They have voiced their concern that any other T20 league at the time of the IPL would result in dilution of the latter. This is the reason why they have prohibited Indian players from takin part in foreign T20 leagues, and one of the reasons why they haven't started the WIPL yet. The problem is with the outdated thinking from the BCCI guys. They believe that all other leagues pose a danger to the IPL. That should not be the case, as IPL is regarded as the most star studded league in the world.

I do not think they will organize the WIPL anytime soon. They will wait and until the revenue drops from IPL, which I do not think will be happening anytime soon.

In around 3 weeks from now, they are about to auction two more teams for the IPL (25th October). This time, the auction amount is predicted to set new records. For two teams, the conservative prediction is a combined $1 to $1.2 billion, but given the extreme competition for getting a franchise, I won't be surprised if the BCCI ends up with more than $2 billion in their pocket. That should make up for any losses that they suffered due to COVID. Maybe they will think about the WIPL sometime after that.

Also WIPl won’t happen anytime soon unless big sponsors put pressure on BCCi, plus there’s no pressure from Indian audience too, hence only a combo of these two will convince BCCI to launch it.

Base price is $280 ish Millions for one franchise, i do agree that price could cross $500 Millions easily but billion dollar deal for 1 team sounds too much to me tbh. Unless Tata Group also jumps in the auction, which seems unlikely atm. @Juggy777 Adani is participating in the auction, he's one of the big fish in India after Ambani.

You never know, Tata's might if Ambani's and Adani's can. They are already into everything except sports . I also do not think that it will go in billions. They are buying a franchise and not a company. WIPL is not a priority for BCCI now they are busy minting IPL at the moment.

@Juggy777 Adani is participating in the auction, he's one of the big fish in India after Ambani. More than a decade ago, Subrata Roy paid $370 million for Pune Warriors India. And the second team (Kochi Tuskers Kerala) was auctioned for $332 million. That was in 2010. One decade has passed and the brand value of IPL has increased by manytimes. I won't be surprised if the auction price crosses $1 billion this time. Only two franchises are in offer and it looks as if this may be the final expansion of the IPL. So for the industrialists like the Adani and Goenka, this is like a once in lifetime opportunity.

You are right but at that time INR was about 45ish against the USD and right now it stand at 74.85 against USD. Back then Pune franchise final bid was around 1700 crore INR, atm new franchise base price is 2000 crore INR (approx $260 Millions). BCCI estimating 3500-4500 crore INR for one team. https://www.livemint.com/Consumer/JoiRXbcOttykik23vtcXnK/Sahara-pulls-Pune-Warriors-from-IPL.htmlI posted this news in august. 2 more teams in the IPL soon. (2022) BCCI invites tender for new IPL franchises " The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put a base price of Rs 2000 cr for the new teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After it sent out a release inviting bids for two new franchises on Tuesday (August 31), a BCCI office-bearer confirmed to Cricbuzz that the reserve price would be Rs 2000 crore, an expected figure considering that the Rajasthan Royals, not exactly a top-rung side in the league, had sold 15 per cent of its share at an overall value of Rs 1850 crore recently.
The final selling price could be more than Rs 3000 crore per team but one BCCI official said the board expects it to be higher than double of the reserve fee. Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the favoured destinations but a few other cities are also available for purchase. The whole process of bidding could be over by October second week enabling the two new franchises to witness the IPL final in Dubai on October 15."

I guess IPL has taken over everything that's why we are having IPL discussion in Test Cricket thread.
I don't understand the reason why Indian players are not allowed to take part in other leagues? Are there enough opportunities in India that they they can accommodate each and every player in domestic setup? BCCI is taking up the model of China, where its closed for the world. In IPL there are few domestic players that can come up and play. But if Indian players are allowed to go around the world and play leagues then it will help players that wont make it to IPL.

Right now all possibilities available because this is fact now IPL brand is value is much more than 2010 and big fishes can go for this with their Billions of USD. I am also feeling most chances we will have these both teams around $2 Billion USD even its pandemic and IPL is still giving big profit through TV rights. Adani and Goenka coming, so hopefully someone from Tata will also have some good interest in Cricket, and they will give a try to this also for entertainment purpose like Ambani's doing right now. India is now too much made for cricket, like we have madness in Latin America for Soccer.

There are too many theories and views but no one can give you perfect reply because BCCI never give any viewpoint about this few thinks it's all because of IPL as they don't want their players to go outside and it has any effect on this and few believes they want to have full control on their players. But, one thing is clear it's good for their own sack and players because now they are doing some good increase in their incomes and giving some good rest to them as too many leagues and matches can burn them which happened with few players in past and last one this can also prevent them from injuries as currently it's also creating some serious issues for many players.

Exactly it has taken over our mind Look what it has done to everyone here we forgot there is a thread dedicated to T20 cricket. I am pretty much sure everyone knows about that thread but we are so much stuck in IPL that we have forgotten everything. That is what is brand value. Please stop discussing about IPL on this thread.

Well.. hardly anyone cares about test cricket these days. In the recent times we had too many meaningless bilateral tours. Personally I don't care about test matches unless big three teams (+NZ) are playing each other. The quality of other test teams have gone down the drain. Anyway, the Ashes is around the corner and hopefully it can reignite some interest in this format of cricket. But poor form of the Australian players (including Steve Smith) is a concern for me. There is a good chance that this time the Ashes will be one sided.

Right now ground realities are not good but still we have one thing surely rich is going more rich and poor is poorer BCCI is also going more rich as more teams more money they have no issue with this time even it's going from 14 to 18 because all under their own control. ICC will have some more from this extra income, mean all is good. As it's going I am feeling in near future we will have situation same like Soccer, mostly Leagues will work and countries will have matches during breaks only because Leagues are more profitable than International matches. Hopefully this will bring some better change in all cricket playing nations.

Countries are cancelling bilateral series because players are interested in playing IPL. Things will get worsen in the future and if you take a player's point of view they are earning more in playing in such tournaments than playing for their country.

It is already happening but the frequency is less. Countries are cancelling bilateral series because players are interested in playing IPL. Things will get worsen in the future and if you take a player's point of view they are earning more in playing in such tournaments than playing for their country.
It's not just the players. You are forgetting the fact that the board is also benefiting from the IPL. Take the case of WICB for example. Every year, they receive around $1.25 million from the IPL management as foreigner release fee. This is comparable to the revenues they have from an average bilateral tour against a non-big 3 country. And the catch here is that for the payment from IPL, there is no expense from the side of the WICB. On the other hand, bilateral tours hardly leave anything as surplus, after the expenses.

I guess IPL has taken over everything that's why we are having IPL discussion in Test Cricket thread.
Well you started this IPL discussion by bringing big bad boy in thread. There is no test cricket going around so its fine but i would never say that " Hardly anyone cares about test cricket" I'll post detail data in near future (When in mood) ofc it would be related big 3, which majority of us agree including on bilateral fixtures. Ashes is about to renamed as " The Bitches" although sare pagal ho rakhe hai aaj kal ki yeh series hogi ya nahi.

This is something interesting "... He lost the confidence of the ECB board and the counties after a demanding couple of weeks which has seen England cancel their tour to Pakistan and a failure to agree a domestic schedule for the next couple of years..." Pakistan tour cancellation is getting serious attention in England. Earlier ECB formally apologizes PCB for tour cancellation and said that they will do everything to tour Pakistan next year. Cricket Fans in Pakistan may expect England team coming soon.

Few boards already agree for touring Pakistan, but now first big event is twenty/20 world cup. Hopefully after this we will have some better news about few events and bilateral series. Even now I am feeling Aussies will also withdraw because they are also one of the best beneficiary from IPL, and they are also under some good influence of BCCI but right now all is just predictions geopolitical can change as we have resignation from ECB chairman so may be few good news will happen for Pakistani cricket fans in near future. Right now big talk is hanging around Ashes as discussion is going on for this and CA is hopeful for this tour despite England players have few concerns just because of Covid-19 restrictions.
