1281  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can someone help me understand what everyone is talking about? 51%? on: June 20, 2014, 06:25:36 PM
Don't worry, problem is solved now.
Current situation:
Ghash.io 31%
BTC Guild 16%
Discus Fish 16%
Unknown 10%.

Solved? 3 pools operate 90% of the networking hashing power. That is incredibly centralized. And 51% is NOT necessary to carry out a double spend attack. People need to wise up...

3 pools operate 90% of the networking hashing power? Where did you get that from?
And what I meant is things are now much better if we compare to that what it was couple days ago.
But yeah we still need to decentralize more.

True, I obviously glossed over the numbers to get 90% there. My bad. Smiley

I just get frustrated with the attitude that anything has been "solved" by Ghash dropping 15%. This will only continue to happen. And it isn't the first time either. Smiley
1282  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is the BTC price dropping?? on: June 20, 2014, 06:23:40 PM
Sure, I'd be careful with leveraged longs, especially at the crazy rates at BFX. Nonetheless, momentum hasn't picked up to the downside. Should be some bounce. Not saying we're going to the moon here.
1283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is China so important for Bitcoin? on: June 20, 2014, 06:22:03 PM
Quesion is not good. Coz its made like that so it sounds like China is important for bitcoin but , in reality its not. So it should been like this.
Is China important to bitcoin. And simple answer would be . NO 1

I tend to disagree. When all the western exchanges stop following Huobi and Okcoin like lap dogs, I'll entertain the idea. At least to speculators, China is very important, clearly. And for the network -- don't you think a country of 1.351 billion could be of significant value?
1284  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Karpeles back to living large in one of the most expensive apartments in Tokyo on: June 20, 2014, 06:20:10 PM
Have Willy drive up the bubble, then slowly sell thousands and thousands of bitcoins.... live large. Sounds like a pretty good plan to me. Hats off, Mr. Karpeles.
1285  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is the BTC price dropping?? on: June 20, 2014, 06:14:28 PM
Meh, weak hands get nervous when the price doesn't go up -- doesn't have to be news.  Smiley

Personally, I think we have hit a local bottom here. Waiting for confirmation...
1286  Economy / Speculation / Re: Google Wallet + Facebook apply for banking license on: June 20, 2014, 06:13:34 PM
It seems he sees bitcoin only as the payment system. Fair enough, but he's obviously missing the point. I'm fairly sure BTC will be integrated in such wallet apps in the future, as well.
1287  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bolivia Bans Bitcoin. on: June 20, 2014, 06:11:39 PM
They all know that Bitcoin was/is a pilot developed by NSA to wage financial warfare on other countries' economies. They can smell the US sanctions and/or other economic pressures and the capital flight via Bitcoin a mile off. A liquid Bitcoin market in a country also makes it very easy for powerful entities to get funds into that economy in order to sponsor 'destabilisers' of that economy/political system to do their deeds.

What we (including myself) all once thought was anarchic internet money of freedom, is actually The Man up to his same old tricks.

You have gone off the deep end now! I've heard the NSA thing as a joke, but are you serious with this? I see only conjecture here.

Anything to this? Links? Smiley
1288  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 20, 2014, 06:09:59 PM
huobi looks bouncy. up from here?

Yep, looks bouncy to me as well. Hourly bullish RSI divergence, lower low on falling volume, stochastics are very oversold. We should see some up now. Cool
1289  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Signature renting for a total newbie on: June 20, 2014, 06:08:44 PM
Signature renting does seem to require almost no effort. This is still better than visiting 50+ faucets a day and getting almost nothing.

Sure, it takes no effort if this is what you'd be doing anyway. I'd say that is true for myself. For some people, I get the impression that it is a job of sorts.

1291  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is BitCoin faucets really worth the time? on: June 20, 2014, 06:06:37 PM
For those that do faucets: What is the average payout per faucet. And what do you generate in a day, or in a week? I'd be curious to know. Historically, any BTC you can get your hands on pays off pretty big.

Because of that, after we send it to you, we can't recover it.
However we could offer refund in this case and generate another vanity address of same phrase.

Wow -- if that's not a red flag, I don't know what is. It's as if they didn't even stop to think about how they'd convince people to fall into a scam.
1293  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crossed 500 USD - Bull Market returns ? on: June 20, 2014, 06:55:55 AM
I think as long we hold $550 or so, we'll keep the up trend alive. That's a very crucial level, and if we drop below that on volume, I think we're back to a bear market and possibly retesting that $340 low. Bitcoin is crazy like that.
1294  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: June 20, 2014, 06:54:38 AM
If the SR bitcoin auction goes well (in terms of price), we may see a strong uptrend very soon. Cheesy

How can it effect BTC value positively ?

Hahaha i don't think it'll goes well in terms of price Cheesy
That auction is like a dump

When will the auction be held?  Huh

If I remember correctly, I believe the Coindesk article said something like "next week"... and that was a couple days ago. So we might have a week, but who knows? I'm not even sure whether or not the final prices will be disclosed.
1295  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: June 20, 2014, 05:39:02 AM
Sure, it could be thought of as a "dump." But some, possibly most of those coins, if still in circulation, likely would have made their way to market anyway. It's hard to say what off-exchange demand is like -- there could be a lot of players looking to get in with no slippage.
1296  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is BitCoin faucets really worth the time? on: June 15, 2014, 10:06:06 PM
They are just for time pass or to kill your time. Cheesy

There are much better ways to kill time IMO. I agree with the person above -- faucets are for the truly broke people with no way of buying BTC, to hold for when BTC is valued much higher than now.
1297  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to get money? on: June 13, 2014, 06:24:08 PM
Mmm search for a high traffic crossroad and when the traffic light turns red, offer anything for some coins: washing windshield

I highly recommend this plan. People will simply adore you, and will make it rain fat pockets of change on you. ......As long as you have a proper squeegee.

1298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Dev Sells 50% of his Bitcoin due to 51% threat. on: June 13, 2014, 06:16:20 PM
He has a very valid point that the incentives in place are not strong enough to prevent a 51% threat
People who think GHASH.io is a legitimate threat to Bitcoin fail to understand the organic nature of this network.

The "organic nature" of the network? Could you elaborate on what you mean? Centralized mining is always a problem and a threat. And a pool doesn't need 51% to be a threat either, it just increases the probability of successful double spending.
1299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: For those who don't trade altcoins on: June 13, 2014, 06:12:40 PM
Catching pump and dumps is easier said than done. I do it, but I am pretty cautious about it and take profits quickly. These are very risky -- after the initial pump, many coins just die.
1300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT, the ultimate SCAM, will it die because of 100% pre-mine given to 50 people? on: June 13, 2014, 06:11:26 PM
I do like some of the ideas and development behind NXT. Unfortunately, I tend to think the 100% premine/IPO model is very problematic for distribution.
