I have used Coinbase. My understanding is that Circle's new service is/will be similar. Is it live yet? Has anyone tried it? The more competition for exchanges and brokers, the better.

1543  Other / Off-topic / Re: TV Series Recommendations... on: June 02, 2014, 06:05:39 PM
flight of the conchords. Best series ever, terribly underranted.

FOTC was so awesome.. rhys dharby is the most underrated comedic actor. he's hilarious as murray. i can't believe he's not not a top comedy actor.

he is GREAT. my favorite character in the show, even though they're all awesome.

Flight of the Conchords was pretty epic. The first season was amazing. The second season fell off quite a bit -- though there were still a few gems -- so I'm not surprised they discontinued it. Probably really hard show to write, once their standup songs were all used. Tongue

Ditto about Murray. Dude is the best.

Another vote for electrum.  The main advantage is that you only need to write down your secret key phrase once and all current & future addresses in your wallet are backed up.  With multibit you have to keep making backups the more you use it.

It's a huge convenience that the Electrum seed allows access to all addresses. That's one of the things that always bugged me about QT -- remembering to make regular backups. On the flip side, though, it's good practice to be making regular backups... Wink
1545  Economy / Services / Re: GAW MINERS PAYS FOR YOUR SIGNATURE => HIGH RATES!! on: June 02, 2014, 05:59:44 PM
Planning to join your service. Just wondering, since it seems I should move from Full member --> Sr Member very shortly -- is the payout rate based on our forum position when we sign up? Or when we complete the month?

If it's based on when we sign up, I'll think I'll wait for my activity to update before signing up....  Tongue

It's how you finish that counts Cheesy

Sounds good to me! Starting today then Grin

EvilPanda, per the OP, I'd like to discontinue the campaign. 2 weeks is up in ~ 6 hours, and I have fulfilled the post requirement. I'll keep the signature past then and until you confirm.

Thanks so much! Smiley
1546  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Gift cards with paypal , a possible solution to chargebacks ? on: June 02, 2014, 05:55:34 PM
Couldn't you just buy a gift card with paypal and then sell it for BTC ?
This could possibly need an escrow , but would stop chargebacks in the long term.

Steam gift cards seem like a likely winner , I can find quite a few websites selling for paypal with no additional fees (http://www.pcgamesupply.com/buy/Steam-Gift-Card-20/)

They are pretty high in demand , as steam wallet credit is nearly impossible to get for Bitcoin.

Any possible downsides ? If not , this may solve paypal chargeback solutions for quite some time , atleast if the seller wants to buy under 1 BTC.

If the gift card was purchased with Paypal, the Paypal user could report the gift card purchase as fraudulent in the first place. So it isn't safe for the user paying BTC.

I'd love to run a laid back bar and venue, and have some weekly/monthly shows, DJs. That could be a lot of fun. If I only I could buy the space and not have to worry about the rent. Smiley

They always say: Don't trade what you can't afford to lose.

Past that, just don't get too emotional. Don't chase momentum/price. Buying when the price is dropping is better than buying when the price is rising. Those are my general rules, anyway.

then you have the same strategy with me. Buy low sell high Smiley
don't buy high sell higher, risky.

I won't lie, when I've "missed the boat", I have bought high and sold higher. It works out in strong rallies, but certainly preferable to buy on the way down or near the bottom. Smiley

I use Coinbase usually. IMO, it is easy and intelligible

I agree, Coinbase is very easy and has a good interface. It's a good way to get money from your bank and into the BTC economy. It is not a good platform for trading, though.
1550  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help deciding which light weight bitcoin wallet on: June 02, 2014, 05:46:36 PM
I prefer Electrum when looking for a very lightweight wallet. Syncs extremely quickly. Although, if I were concerned about privacy, I may look elsewhere, due to the its system of nodes (which allow for such quick syncing).
1551  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about exchanges and Blockchain. on: June 02, 2014, 05:45:20 PM
Exchanges are generally centralized entities, so trades carried out on their platforms are generally "offchain" (i.e. not on the blockchain). This may not be the case with decentralized exchanges in the future.

New deal for Newbs and Jnrs only. First payment next Monday.
I currently don't trust them. Their whole website screams scam and I doubt that they will be around for long. I'm even going so far to doubt that they will pay their first week. I will add them, but I don't recommend them. At all.

Yeah, looks a bit sketchy to me also, to be honest. We'll see how it goes. I have a feeling this will generate a lot of spam in the next few weeks. Undecided

On today's menu, our bullish members will be mainly eating...

Dont think so drop kick .... Pplz gotta take profits and back we go up

I bet my left nut that we wont break 600  Cool

I am certainly bullish in my sentiments about the current state of bitcoin; however, it is truely idiotic in my thinking to be talking in such absolutisms regarding the bitcoin price.  That's what gets people into trouble, and who the fuck really knows what kinds of manipulations can take place in the short term to affect BTC prices beyond expectations.  So don't be betting your left nut on anything related to bitcoin prices b/c you may need that later in life, especially if you plan on having kids in the future.

Agreed regarding the absolutism. Bitcoin blows everyone's minds when it goes both directions. And it's never a good idea to go around betting testicles. Just my two cents.
1554  Economy / Speculation / Re: Back to $680. So obvious this is a pump. on: June 02, 2014, 09:57:06 AM
Indeed, I am watching the 530-550 zone closely for a base to take off to the moon from. We've been feeling overbought for several days, and may need to shake out some more weak hands before doing so.
1555  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I started tradeing. on: June 02, 2014, 09:53:36 AM
Most traders lose eventually.

Perhaps, but that doesn't mean that one can't hone their skills and be a winning trader. Another point is that when your ahead, it's good to take profits off the table. It felt real good taking my initial investment (and then some) off the table from bitcoin after the last bubble.
1556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Satoshi Nakamoto become the richest person on earth? on: June 01, 2014, 06:04:59 AM

if based on 1m bitcoins, means he/they are worth half billion right now.

Will Satoshi Nakamoto ever become the world's richest person? Huh

whats going to happen?

I sure hope not. He once said on the forums something to the effect of "lost coins are a donation to everyone else" so I'm hoping that he considers those coins lost and won't ever tap them.
1557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: satoshi is either dead or in prison on: June 01, 2014, 06:03:44 AM
or both. as there is no big player in the bitcoin world that didn't turn out to be a criminal, it's more likely that he's still alive. what do you think was satoshi's crime he went to prison for?

LOL, what did he go to prison for? I don't think he's in prison. Didn't he come out and post that he was not Dorian Nakamoto, when that whole thing blew up? (I suppose his account could have been hacked)
1558  Economy / Speculation / Re: Weekly MACD to turn green on next candle on: June 01, 2014, 05:54:41 AM
Bitcoinwisdom's chart calculates the MACD to include the price of the current candle as if the candle was closed already. However, to declare that a cross has occured, you must do this based only on candles that have actually closed and not pre-emptively based on a new candle. Therefore, the MACD cross won't actually be for 10 days (at least)

This leaves enough time for a significant correction to occur, which could extend the actual cross to 3 or 4 weeks away, so we could end up  having a month long consolidation before the cross actually occurs and another breakout actually occurs.

I am thinking we might see a correction like this. What are your targets if so? Smiley I'm not convinced yet that we're headed for another bubble, do you think after this consolidation that we'll break the ATH?

1560  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much bitcoin are you sitting on? [Anonymous Poll] on: June 01, 2014, 05:47:33 AM
Most people have 1-5 Bitcoin thats very suprising to me. I thought it would be 50-100.

If I had a sizable amount of bitcoin, I don't think I would be posting about it on this thread. Kind of puts a target on your back if people think they might be able to scam/hack a lot of $ from you.
