1461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: eBay CEO: "We will have to integrate digital currencies..." on: June 08, 2014, 08:26:57 PM
Cryptocurrency protocol will likely eventually be part of the underlying infrastructure of financial institutions. I certainly think it will be integrated into Paypal eventually.
1462  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where is the weekend rally? on: June 08, 2014, 08:24:42 PM
If you aren't an expert trader with experience I recommend to hold because there are almost zero chances to lose the capital in this way.

Well, up to a certain point. I don't recommend being a total pig about it and never selling anything. I always take some profit when I'm up big, otherwise I'm kicking myself on the way down.
1463  Economy / Economics / Re: Ron Paul Doesn’t Believe Bitcoin is “True Money” on: June 08, 2014, 08:17:26 PM
Ron Paul is an old fart. I guess he was sort of a gateway into libertarianism for some people, and therefore important (....I guess), but his opinion doesn't matter. He's painted as a crazy, anyway.
1464  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: June 08, 2014, 08:13:04 PM
To be honest the 10k thread is more interesting right now! :>

$10k? It'll take a lot to get there. From the July bottom of the April 2013 bubble to the November 2013 top, it was about 19x. Same magnitude here puts us at about $6500. $10k is certainly not impossible in the not-so-far future, but we've built up a hell of a lot of resistance at the $1100 and below levels.
1465  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will Bitcoin reach $1 again? on: June 08, 2014, 08:08:45 PM
Why stop at $1? I thought the serious bears always said, "bitcoin to zero." Tongue My money's on never, but I have at least taken enough profits out that I won't ever have to say I lost net money on bitcoin, if it does.
1466  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I buy a USB miner? I get free electricity... on: June 08, 2014, 07:17:06 PM
Electricity is not a major factor in ASIC mining (yet). If you get "free" electricity, you are better of mining scrypt coins with your GPU, or CPU-only coins.

Agreed. The best returns for casual miners IMO can be found mining low difficulty coins that have not been listed on exchanges yet. It's hit or miss, but the return on speculation can be quite large.
1467  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is BitCoin faucets really worth the time? on: June 08, 2014, 06:40:08 PM
You have to relies people are not giving away large amounts to get people rich.
correct me if i am wrong but arent most faucets relying on google ads and that kind of thing to generate money.
The idea is people have enough to play around with and send to friends, but not quite enough to buy anything.

would you give 1000000000000000 strangers on the internet a large sum of money lol ?

well, back in 2010 you would have given them a large amount of bitcoins, yes, but they weren't worth much at the time. just saying, bitcoins might be worth a lot more than they are now.
By that logic they still wouldn't be worthwhile. If you expect the price to go up a lot you're better off earning some real bitcoins, or buying them. Even if 250 satoshi increase their value 100x it's hardly any money.

Sure. Put more in, get more. That's obvious o anyone. But the point still stands, really. If you frequented faucets in every day 2010, you could be sitting on a fat 5-figure $ value bitcoin wallet right now. From nothing.
1468  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: June 08, 2014, 06:36:51 PM
Automated payments? That would be interesting. I wonder how that would work. If PD went weekly, that would look pretty attractive. I wouldn't say the rates are low -- but I'm always surprised how much signature ads are worth.
Yeah, he said so in this thread. Will link you if you want me to. And well, I am used to 0.00135 per post. 0.001 is really low if you compare that. 150*0.001 = 0.15BTC. 150*0.00135=0.2025BTC. That is a huge difference if you ask me.

Sure, it's lower. But with PD you know you're repping a reputable site with a long history, and joining a campaign that has always paid out promptly and fairly. So, there's a trade-off there. I don't think the rates we see now will last forever, either.
1469  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for Signature program for Jr Member. on: June 08, 2014, 06:34:22 PM
Someone once mentioned about sig campaign for newbieas and jr in the marketplace, but he was offering about 1 or 2 cents per posts. Not sure if this one is still available. Hope i helped somehow.
BR

i think its a scam  Huh
but then to OP your only option is the scratch ticket they are offering a reasonable payout weekly for 25 post
you can stick with their campaign until you get into a member status and atleast earn while you are keep on posting just dont go after the rates because its better than nothing  Wink

I think the first payout for that newbie/jr member signature program was supposed to pay out today or tomorrow.... so I guess we'll find out soon. My money is on no one getting paid.
1470  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I buy a USB miner? I get free electricity... on: June 08, 2014, 06:32:00 PM
LOL, free = my parents pay for it.  Roll Eyes  But in general, if you get free electricity, yes, it's worth it (as long as you aren't frying your hardware). But it still will take a long, long time to see any returns.
1471  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who wishes they had bought bitcoin when it was $540 or so? on: June 08, 2014, 05:31:19 PM
It is impractical to wish you bought bitcoin at whatever price. If you feel so strongly about bitcoin, which I do, buying in now at current prices is not expensive at all. Even if bitcoin dips again, you know it has strong support about $400-$500, so you won't loose much anyway.

If bitcoin dropped to $400 from here, that's almost a 40% loss. I don't how much you have invested, but being 40% down on an investment is exactly what I would consider "much"....
1472  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ghash.io reaching up to 47% hashrate (now down). Can it reach 51%? on: June 08, 2014, 05:29:40 PM
Leave it to Reddit to get all bent out of shape and paranoid over this. I'm not particularly worried about a 51% attack. But I also think.... why aren't miners switching pools yet? Didn't this same thing happen a few months ago?
1473  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: June 08, 2014, 05:27:10 PM
FXOpen is only best if you make less than 500 posts, but like bitcoininformation said, they're closed anyway. PD is the best open one now and the many people who flocked there over the last few days kinda shows it. Can't really see rates getting upped now though as promised with the competition dropping out of failing in many ways. Weekly payments are probably still coming according to one of Stunna's recent posts.
I read about the automation part. If they really do that, I will most likely join them. I really prefer weekly payments, even though their rates are quite low. I would love to join FXOpen, but they are full, sadly.

Automated payments? That would be interesting. I wonder how that would work. If PD went weekly, that would look pretty attractive. I wouldn't say the rates are low -- but I'm always surprised how much signature ads are worth.
1474  Economy / Economics / Re: So whatever happened with Mt. Gox? on: June 08, 2014, 09:20:18 AM
They likely ran a ponzi scheme with fractional reserve that got busted when the price collapsed.

Yes, but how did the fractional reserve come to exist in the first place? I'd love to get the down and dirty on all the hack attempts on Gox. My money is on some major hacks from years ago. That summer 2011 hack, maybe...
1475  Economy / Services / Re: My ass in a G-String? on: June 08, 2014, 09:18:12 AM
On a side note. NSFW content is one of the few things restricted by the forum rules. You should be careful of what you post because this is probably the reason you werre banned. There is an entire subreddit dedicated to what you are doing. Also chaturbate was considering bitcoin as a payment option too. Don't know how this ended, but you're surely going to find more interest in those places than here.

I read a reddit thread recently, where it looked like they added bitcoin as a payment option back in March, but as of a week or two ago, it is no longer an option. Hopefully it will come back, because I think that could be a pretty good niche for bitcoin.
1476  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who wishes they had bought bitcoin when it was $540 or so? on: June 08, 2014, 09:00:55 AM
There may be selling pressure at $700-$1000 by those hoping to get out and break-even. These people will be suckers twice.

Yes, they will. But I have not discarded the possibility that if we clear the resistance in the $700s, that we could top out this rally with another test of the $1000 level. Wouldn't surprise me at all, really.

1478  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do You smoke? tobacco/weed etc on: June 08, 2014, 08:56:48 AM
Smoking weed ot tabacco can be as harmful as any other illegal drug because of the rate you would smoke them, a jonki can take cocaine once a week and its more dangerous but you will be taking tabacco or wees chemicals every day which equals to almost the same

It's a bit more complex than that. Cocaine is much more disruptive to the body, and has much more short term risk. I don't think one can equate that to the long term risks of smoking.
1479  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The future of mining on: June 08, 2014, 08:54:11 AM
There would be too much competition for there only to be one. But with the huge capital barriers to entry, it is conceivable that there would be a handful of major players that could, in theory, take control of the network if they colluded.
1480  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for Signature program for Jr Member. on: June 08, 2014, 08:49:40 AM
What that post showed me, was that there is only 1 signature program cattering for "newbies" and "Jr Members"

Do these people have no voice? Or do their voice carry no value?

I have seen many "newbies" and "Jr members" giving very good advice on this forum, and they not getting rewarded.

Should there not be a incentive for "new" people to join this forum? {Forum moderators can simply delete spam}

Now do not bite my head off, I have a right to my opinion.

Newbies and Jr. Members are regarded to be less experienced. Members and above are assumed to know a little bit more about Bitcoin and as a result have a greater chance that they write something that a lot of other members read.

More importantly, it is an issue of spam. Newbies and Jr Members (especially Newbies) tend to spam much, much more than longtime members. They spam links, get banned, create a new account... rinse and repeat.
