1061  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where do you recommend me to buy BTC? on: July 05, 2014, 09:59:27 PM
Are you near a major city? I would just go through Local Bitcoins (localbitcoins.com), as for such an amount, I would not want to deal with any verification processes, or delays wiring money. I prefer cash/in-person deals to get my money into BTC.
1062  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Poll : do you trust an exchange to hold your bitcoins ? on: July 05, 2014, 09:57:34 PM
Depends on an exchanger. Maybe its good to keep btc at different exchanges at the same time.

Definitely. I never keep all my eggs in one basket. For the coins I keep out of cold storage, I spread them out between BTCE, Bitfinex, and Bitstamp. I don't feel great about any of them, but there's no other way to trade. Smiley
Wouldn't it just be better to keep your coins in your own "hot wallet" that you control and only keep coins at an exchange when you wish to sell for fiat?

Sure, but there are drawbacks to that. For one thing, personally, I play volatility spikes. I want my orders on the book to scalp those overbought moves and quickly rebuy. Vice versa. And in general, waiting for 3-6 confirmations during volatile times can be very frustrating. Beyond that, when hedging by holding fiat, there is nowhere to hold it but an exchange (unless you want to remove it from the BTC economy for an extended period of time -- again, missing out on big moves).

And hot wallets carry their own risks as well. If your coins are not cold, consider them vulnerable.
1063  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do You Buy BTC? on: July 05, 2014, 09:49:22 PM
i buy btc from btc-e and it a good exchange, never had any problems.

Do you send fiat there? I love BTCE as an exchange -- best trading platform and engine, IMO. But I have heard of people running into headaches wiring money there, not having it properly credited, and the situation being delayed by language issues from their customer service. I've never had issues, but I only send coins in and out.
1064  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to best invest in bitcoins? on: July 05, 2014, 09:47:25 PM
I highly recommend against investing in mining or cloud mining contracts, unless you think you have a knack for altcoin speculation. I would set aside what spare money you have and just buy when you can. Are there sellers in your area on localbitcoins.com?

Where do I go buy the best price for mining contracts?

For reference about cloud mining, you can get it on
https://cloudmining.guru/wp/
http://www.cloudminingreviews.com/
http://cloudminingreport.com/

Those site gives full review and scores for our comparison about cloud mining.
It is important to do your research and run the numbers yourself to make sure that you can potentially make ROI on a cloud mining contract before investing (hint: you probably can't)

Yes, I highly recommend doing thorough research and running the numbers against difficulty trend, since my impression is that cloud mining is by and large unprofitable. Unless you think difficulty is going to plummet or something....
1065  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting paid for signature space? on: July 05, 2014, 09:45:04 PM
It seems like I`m so far away.. from getting any btc going on lol.

Faucets suck too.

Yeah, faucets won't get you too far. As far as signature ads, there are accounts being bought/sold in the digital goods subforum. It's sort of frowned upon, but I get the feeling that more than a few newbies have gone that route.

I wouldn't suggest newbies to buy a "higher rank" account at all.
The account seller could get the accounts back at any time in the future (FYI: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0), and also the account could get negative trust and become worthless if the account sale is made public.

I wasn't really suggesting anything. Just pointing out that it's done and that it's frowned upon. But it is allowed. It does take a certain level of trust in the account seller since, yes, they can recover the account by signing a transaction from an address linked to the account. But they won't get very far selling accounts that way.
1066  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tips on increasing my TRUST level on bitcointalk? on: July 05, 2014, 09:41:31 PM
If you will not trying to trade or do business here, there is no necessary of trust growing.

Indeed OP does want to participate in trades in the near future...

I'm looking to participate in trust-required trades with other users on this forum sometime in the near future however I'm new and have nothing going for me in terms of reputation at the moment (as we can all see lol).
It kind of sounds like the OP may be trying to get positive trust so they can scam people.

Indeed, it isn't necessary to have positive trust in order to complete trades in the marketplace. People use trusted escrows for a reason, and even if you are dealing with known people, it is good to use escrow whenever possible, especially on larger deals.

1068  Economy / Speculation / Re: I just sold everything! I'M A DAYTRADER YAY!! on: July 05, 2014, 02:23:04 AM
Despite what you may have read in this thread, some traders do consistently beat the market. How else could there be so many losers? Tongue I've made a lot of coins in profit on big 1-2 month swing trades mostly. Shorter term is tough. And I hate losing coins.
1069  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: July 05, 2014, 02:18:30 AM
For sure 10,000 in the end of this year

Not sure about this year, but it's hard to imagine that it would take more than a few years, maybe 3-4. Either that, or BTC will likely have not achieved adoption, and will wane in value considerably.

1071  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: day trading - what's the catch? on: July 05, 2014, 02:14:15 AM
Daytrading in any form, is similar to gambling imo.

Dont get me wrong, daytrading is totally different from just buy bitcoin at its low then holding on to it.

When you are doing day trading, your making multiple trades within that hour depending on your approach.

No, that's not necessarily true. To be specific, that would be "intra-day" trading. Day trading positions can take place over the course of days (plural) to be sure. I rarely make more than one trade in a day (scalping), but I do trade on the 1hr/4hr charts, so, days.
1072  Other / Off-topic / Re: Webcam sex on: July 05, 2014, 12:18:26 AM
Last time I checked fapping was free lol.

Esp omegle. if you need to fap, go watch porn?

Well, it's a bit different, I think. Porn is just a video. Cam girls are real people, and it's an interactive experience. Is it worth the money? I don't know. But I could see some potential...haha.
1073  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: day trading - what's the catch? on: July 05, 2014, 12:16:38 AM
To be honest, it's not that difficult to make $$ trading BTC, considering its history. Buy low, sell high. Buy high, sell higher. Not realizing the loss when the market moves against you has historically always worked out -- but we'll see how the $1100+ crowd fares. Tongue

Now, that's making $$. Making both $$ on BTC profits is a lot more difficult. You may find even though you are making more $$, over time, you may be losing coins.
1074  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you really believe that Bitcoin will hit 1,000,000 on: July 04, 2014, 11:51:06 PM
sure, when it will be something only old and rich collectors will be looking for

Why? It's divisible. If you're only using .00001s or .0000001s, BTC is still useful -- I imagine at that point, transaction fees will be much lower. I don't see why BTC can't be accessible still.
1075  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 04, 2014, 11:49:04 PM
look like LTC moves btc now :-D

Too much panic surrounding ltc now, i couldnt resist to buy some

Hmmm, not sure. I keep some lowball bids in now after seeing that $2 spike the other day. But I think LTC might have a slow slide down to retest that level, or at least much lower than here. Good luck....
1076  Economy / Speculation / Re: No signs of a rally so far on: July 04, 2014, 11:47:41 PM
This action from ~660 level top just looks like a bullish consolidation to me. I think we are close to local bottom here, then take a crack at that resistance level. Then maybe 680, 720, we'll see. We could hit these targets and still be in a longer term bear market, though.
1077  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do You Buy BTC? on: July 04, 2014, 11:30:19 PM
Try Coinbase.com

Pretty sure Coinbase is US only. For US residents, it's a good/easy way to get money from your bank account into BTC. But it's certainly not good for trading, and I don't particularly trust their pricing mechanisms.
1078  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Poll : do you trust an exchange to hold your bitcoins ? on: July 04, 2014, 10:43:14 PM
I wouldn't trust any exchange, even though I do have an account with blockchain any amount of BTCitcoin i receive automatically gets transferred to my wallet because i can't have what happened a month ago happen again where i was phished for everything i had.
This is another good example as to why you should not keep money on an exchange.

Sure, but similar issues exist for desktop wallets. There are now many forms of malware that target bitcoin wallets, so part of the issue here is not 3rd party (exchange) vs. desktop wallet, but also general security precautions and cold storage.
1079  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Beware of LocalBitcoins.com on: July 04, 2014, 10:40:52 PM
I wouldn't use them for too high of volume. After seeing some of those stories, I definitely figured it best not to be a liquidity provider there. And I prefer to deal in cash only -- P2P and not through the site directly.
Local bitcoins does allow you to meet to do face to face transactions that are not part of their escrow service.

Sure, I know. The only way I use LBC is for in-person cash transactions. However, to be a liquidity provider and be able to charge markup over/under the exchange price, you need to have a good reputation. That means using LBC escrow (paying fees) and garnering confirmed feedback.
There have been several threads on here about attempted robberies at face-to-face LBC transactions when the buyer has tried to steal the seller's phone so the release code could be entered.

I'm sure that's possible, but seems rare and unlikely. Meet in a public place, and preferably deal with people with some level of positive feedback. But mostly, just meet in a public place. Starbucks has cameras -- that's sort of a deterrent...
1080  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you really believe that Bitcoin will hit 1,000,000 on: July 04, 2014, 09:23:47 PM
Technology innovation also happen fast. If bitcoin do hit 1,000,000, it may not stay there for long as incentive is strong for someone to come up with something better.

This is true to some extent, but for bitcoin to reach 7 figures, it would have to be pretty well entrenched in society/commerce. I think there is a good chance we get there, but it's hard to say when the pendulum will swing back, and when we'll have topped out for good.
