crying, i sold my dash at 0.00900000  Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

I had 1K dash stolen from me 2 years ago :\
That sad..., running masternode need 1k dash deposit is on a very high risk  Huh

No risk at all.  My MN funds are on a trezor.  Before that, I kept them off line in a jump drive / cold storage.
When update the masternode software, should i have to re-enable the cold wallet online to make the remote masternode work again? how the network know the 0 dash remote masternode have 1k dash?

If you update your masternode software within 1 hour you do not need to restart the masternode from your cold wallet. You simply update the masternode to the new code, start it on the VPS and you are good to go. It takes just a couple of minutes for the most time. Even less if you use some helping tools like Dashman.

If you take more than an hour, a new start masternode command must be initialized from the cold wallet.

The masternode points to a transaction showing it holds control of a 1000 Dash collateral and that it has the private keys to the address.

Bitcoin is going down so Dash is going down too?

Sure, Dash follows BTC pretty close. IF Bitcoin goes down, pretty much everything else comes down a bit too.
But it looks like the price is stabilizing around $45 so it isn't so bad.

Looking at the long queue of 40K unconfirmed transactions currently affecting Bitcoin, https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions how can Dash prepare for a sudden influx of transactions in the size of the Bitcoin network?

I am of course aware of our block time of 2.5 minutes, and the decision to increase the block size to 2MB should this be necessary. This would provide almost a 8x increase of the capacity compared to the Bitcoin network and that is great. But then what? I admit to not be fully up to speed with the coming features of evolution, but are there measures to increase the transaction capacity by utilizing the masternode tier in some fashion?

If most transactions were an InstantSend transaction, this would not increase the transaction throughput per say, but it would get the funds around faster as the transaction would be confirmed and the receiver would at least have the perception that the network is working efficiently. Besides InstantSend, are there other blockchain implementations being addressed to help make Dash a true global digital cash with a capacity that can rival VISA/Mastercard/Paypal?

I didn't have access to my account from my phone earlier, and wanted to answer / speculate on your questions here when I read your post Smiley

So, first, yes, as of right now, we have plans that put us at 8X the capacity of Bitcoin (thought those 2mb blocks won't be implemented until there is need)  So that's all traditional / normal / current technology that should cover us for the next few years, but then what?  Well, if segwit can be implemented while preserving account information for people (we could do a hybrid with some info on blockchain and other info in the Dash Drive?) there is also blockchain pruning if that solution ever pans out, and last, hopefully never ever, and IMO least, is off chain transactions.  Undoubtedly there will be other ideas that come up.  So far no solution is without a cost.  In the end, the technology will simply have to keep up.  Bandwidth and storage might simply have to be expanded.

You know with Masternodes, we can instantly process an unlimited number of transactions per second using IS technology.  I guess it's the miners that have to write things into the blockchain where the bottle neck happens.  If that's the case, and if we switch to making every transaction an IS transaction, then we could have miners create blocks once an hour, and make those blocks as big as necessary.  The miners would download as much as they can in that time, commit the transactions to the block, and what isn't committed goes in the next block an hour later.

I really don't know if that helps, as it's a simplification of what I understand is the problem from others who have posted??  But certainly there is a lot of room for creativity, and if we have 8X the block transactions of Bitcoin in the next 4 or so years, and my estimate of time needed to solve this problem is good, we'll be in excellent condition!

Thank you for a great reply Tante, I was starting to think that my post wold get lost in a sea of troll-postings.  Wink

Interesting approach of letting the masternodes process the transactions, but then the miners would have to play catch up to the blockchain later. We would have a constant backlog of transactions, but at least the network would tug along and it wouldn't be stopping merchants and individuals from making transactions. Come to think of it, that's what all banks do as well: make transactions during the day and crunch the numbers during night.

Assuming that each InstantSend transaction takes some 1-3 seconds to lock in, for 6 (?) randomly selected masternodes to accomplish, the network as a whole could theoretically process 4500 masternodes / 6 (?) = 750 transactions every 3 seconds? or conservatively speaking about 250 tx per second?

Maybe I have made an incorrect assumption how many masternodes are queried for the InstantSend transaction, but 250 TX/sec seems pretty good for the moment.

I guess if the blockchain verifying became a problem we would have to look into quicker blocks or larger blocks to deal with the ever growing backlog.

Yes, payments are now 1.8 Dash as the blockrewards to the masternodes.
Though that is roughly $83 at current exchange value.

So we have just bumped to 0.12.1.3? I have not seen any announcements yet but I got a warning from Dashcentral that my client was old.

Just a heads up for all who might want to upgrade.

184371 wallets with coins. New record.

Great price consolidation. We are seeing the birth of a giant. Pleasure to be part of this.

Good luck to everyone and do not give away your Dash.

Where can we see the number of dash wallets?

Congratulations to the Dash community, over the past 3 years there has great progress.  I check in on Dash periodically and it is one of the few communities that has delivered.  While the price is exciting, of real interest is the technology that is being built.

Sadly there seems to still be people that try to twist what happened at the beginning.  So like someone else that recently posted I thought I would admit to my early involvement with Dash.  I recently stumbled upon one of my old empty Xcoin wallets so it seemed like a good time to show what it was like in the beginning.

Dash was easy to mine and anyone could have picked up a lot at the beginning, I know because I did.  Though because my obsession was with mining I let this long term opportunity pass me by.  I sold a lot to cover my Amazon bills, kept some for a bit and even had some masternodes for a while.  So while this coin looked very promising the mining bug hit me again so I sold the rest a while back.  I happily profited in the end but of course it is hard to not look back at what I could have had.

So yes, I was one of those Amazon miners that people complained about early on.
.... cut....

Thanks for a great post pinwc4, always interesting to read about what was going on in the Xcoin days! Thanks for sharing and welcome back to the Dash community!

what do you think guys the DASH will increase according to yesterday ?

I'm not sure what you mean, but the overall trend in clear. Dash climbed too fast to almost $60, it's correcting now, but soon enough we will see $60 levels again. Though that time around, it will probably go even higher.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: March 02, 2017, 08:29:58 PM
Asmodat, you are always welcome to join the testing team of Dash and play with tDash. Once you have got the hang of it you will be ready for buying a masternode share or eventually setting up a masternode of your own.

I think the testers even get paid a little Dash for their services, though I am not absolutely certain.
Welcome to Dash!

I'm a holder but those numbers about the number of transactions being very flat are fairly concerning.

How are they explained / not a problem ?

People are taking coins out of circulation building masternodes and decreasing the liquidity. Those who would like to buy have to pay more as many do not want to part from their Dash. The market determines the value, and now with a 400 million USD coinmarketcap, it looks like the holders still believe that Dash can climb much higher - as the amount of active, and not yet upgraded masternodes, are still about the same as they were a few weeks ago.

Many are waiting to the release of evolution and upcoming services to use their coins for spending worldwide.

What's really remarkable about the Dash marching forward, is that while
Bitcoin is going up in price, Dash is continuing to keep its pace.

Now at over $40 per coin and 0,0335 BTC.

Looks like the price rise is causing some attention.

That guy seems rather pessimistic. Perhaps he didn't like the fact that Dash is starting to challenge BTC?
As Dash isn't "worthy" of being #3 in coinmarketcap?

Let's see what he writes as Dash takes on #2.

I'm a grown man and for the first time in many years, I cried today.

Some of you may remember me as a very early adopter of, "Darkcoin".  At one point, I owned about 10% of outstanding coins and gave away thousands to help jump start things.

Somewhere along the way, for various reasons, I stopped believing in DASH.  What a huge fucking mistake that was.

So here I am.  I am here to apologize for getting it wrong and to congratulate each of you (especially Evan) for sticking with DASH and getting it right.

I have a pit in my stomach because if I would have been smart, my little boys would never have to take out a loan for college when that day comes.  And yet I fucked up.  Big time.

Hopefully this post allows me to one day forgive myself for being so fucking stupid and short sighted.

Congratulations to you all.

Keep your chin up MyFarm, Dash is just 3 yrs old. Just imagine where it will be by the time your children are old enough for collage! In my case I am hoping that each of my children can get a Dash masternode and that will get them through their university times. I am struggling to buy a few dash and ever so slowly build up to the next masternode. Hopefully this will pay off some time down the road, it sure has been a wise decision this far. There is still plenty of time to start and build ever so slowly. Don't listen to the clowns trying to trash talk Dash, do what your heart tells you.

Everyone remember when Dash passed Ethereum classic in coinmarketcap?
Now we are more than double that of ETHC and at $39:

I guess we all remember when this was super cheap at the beginning - wow looking back!

yeah... I remember mining darkcoin in my garage with 1-2 gpus and getting 3-4-5 coins a day... had 700 and lost them due to a harddrive crash. That crash would have been valued at 22.5 BTC right now Wink
