You're right. Because the supply is limited.

6 PH added to network last 24 hours

~ 2 years to the next block reward halving … wonder how many EH will be added to the network by then ?

Things are getting ugly really quickly and mining gear/btc prices not keeping up. Is this the end of the world as we know it ?

Can KNC keep up ?

Bitcoin will become a commodity. Either platinum or bronze I don't know.

1167  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining difficulty slowing down over the next 3 months? on: June 21, 2014, 12:16:47 AM
I sure hope that mining difficulty will stabilize at some point. But if it's a lot of hardware to be yet delivered soon, we have to wait for that a while.

There's currently no end in sight to the preorder cycle. And already, with 8 days to go before the next difficulty adjustment, we are looking at a 20% increase. And that will likely continue to grow. 35% wouldn't be an outrageous guess at this point.

I think retail demand for asic machines is dropping causing manufacturers to do more pre orders for commercial customers so they have a bigger chunk for r and d.

I think people think you are selling for .25 BTC

Because the carrot on the stick promised a free Neptune after batch 2

It's definitely sketchy, and perhaps in some countries illegal since they are formally asking their customers to run a Power supply significantly out of spec to the point where it is a fire hazard. Perhaps they ran through things with legal and have confirmation that they will not be liable if there are issues, but it puts customers in a tough position.

Yeah the legal department. Well they did put some BS in the update saying to use high quality psu. Wiring. And connectors. Wtf they could just made some custom 16 awg molex cables.
1171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 20, 2014, 08:41:33 AM
OK, so these Dumb Fc*** only included one power port on the board.

6 pin at typical 18 awg wire is probably maxed at 300 watts, 20 awg wire is less.

If you have a nice aftermarket set of 6 pin pcie power cable like by Maxfinder those are 16 awg and can handle probably 468 watts on good Molex connector that is rated 13 amps.

Solution would have been for KNC to make 2 power ports or include custom 16 awg power pcie cable.  For 12k a miner they can afford it to give their customers.

I was thinking that too.  Also is it a real mole or copy brand.  That goes for the metal connector and also the quality of the plastic for the housing.
1173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 19, 2014, 11:00:50 PM
Even 8 pin connector is only 384 watts.
1174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 19, 2014, 10:37:48 PM
YES.  Especially after they pocket 12k  per miner.

Even average high end gpu pulling 250-300 watts has 2 power connectors.

what are the s1 upgrade specs/price?

Bitmain have never said that it will be possible to upgrade the S1 so not sure why so many people think it will be.

It's still unknown what the upgrade path will be for S2's but it's likely to be just replacement blades, and it remains to be seen how good a deal it will be.

You won't be able to swap 10 blades with the ones from the S3 as the power consumption will be too high, so it's either going to be different blades with underclocked chips or fewer blades say 4 to match the 1000w PSU.

I think that S4 will be S2 form factor with under-clocked S3 chips.

I would suspect newer chips since the 1380 has been used in 2 products already.
1176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 19, 2014, 09:41:25 PM
There is some truth to this.

A amd r9  295x2  pulls 690 watts and uses a 6+8 pin dual power connector. Another version of the 290 dual card pulls 740 watts.
1177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 19, 2014, 09:07:21 PM
And an asic chip is much different than a cpu.

I mean going modular

You dont think Bitmain s2 is like taking 10 ASM Blades and putting on one board?  Or a BitFury board kit in a box?   Very original

This seems to be a trend.

KNC is changing the design of the 3TH Neptune instead of 1 box it is now 5 miner cubes each at 600GH, connected to a controllerboard.
