1101  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [S] 2 antminer S1's for sale - un-used on: June 25, 2014, 09:09:56 PM
This is probably why they have -4 rating. trust.
1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 25, 2014, 05:36:40 PM
Agreed, miners typically pull more than standard power on the pcie cables and therefore should always be using single rail PSUs (apart from maybe the new Antminer S3).

Mining isnīt dead when new miners donīt get ROI, it is when everyone (atleast a large percentage) stops mining due to power costs being higher than bitcoins generated.

There are frequent cases of people not reaching ROI, and most Neptune customers should not reach ROI at todays market, with more big deployments right around the corner.

Let's not forget the initial cost of the machines themselves. They are not free

Bidders need to email in a signed scan of their bid form, FRIDAY between 6am and 6pm, in a blind auction in which bidders don't see rivals' bids, and the government treats the highest submitted price as the prevailing bidder.

@ Phoenix

Most residential AC has 2 phases/legs installed.

All you need to 'make' 220 is a doublewide breaker.
(the phases are staggered and every other breaker is on same leg)
Exception is 3 phase industrial panels where it is every third breaker.
In fact most double wide breakers are 2 single breakers screwed together with the switch levers connected.

If you have a voltmeter and long extension cord you can prove it to yourself.
Just plug in the cord and measure from cord hot to outlet hot.
(hot is small prong/hole in US outlets)
Same phase, hot 2 hot = 0 volts.
Different phase, hot 2 hot = >220 volts.

The main REASON a miner would insist on 220 is efficiency.
A >220 PSU is often 10% more efficient at making 12VDC (depends on model)

I'd guess you have 220 and don't know it.
I don't claim to know what service is installed in Volcano, HI. though.

YMMV
Smiley

And also 220v is slightly very slightly more effective at carrying the power through the wiring as there is less resistence with higher voltage.

The main reason the US has 120 ac is because the voltage cant kill someone as 220 can if they get shocked.

Newer homes  built in the US are more efficient and don't require amperage like the in the past. That's why you see 100 AMP service for a normal size 3 bedroom 2 bath house now. My house was built in the year 2000, which is considered new in the housing world and came with 100amp service. If the house was 20 years old, I bet it would have 200-300 amp panel in the basement.

FWIW I have never seen a 300A panel in a home.  200A is the highest I've come across and that's usually in McMansions.  Standard is 100A, and I've seen much, much older homes at 60A.
2000 watts(approxomate Neptune draw) / 110v = 18 amps per Neptune. (USA)
5 Neptunes would Max-out 100 amp service right there

100 amp service means 100 amps at 240v, so that would give 200 amps at 110v.
1109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 24, 2014, 05:03:50 PM
I agree, older homes 60 amp.

They didnt have electric ovens, furnaces,  and dryers and water heaters back then.

Coal and gas.

No, its 13 Billion to 17 Billion.  LOL

Neptune Third Batch 3.3TH/S for $6000. Delivery unknown.

Or

Spondoolie SP30 6TH/S for $5095 and these come with power supplies. Delivery September.

And I missing something?

6TH and comes with power supplies. 2 x 2500 watt supplies? Going to have to put it in a data center. No way you can run it in your garage unless you do some major electrical work.

6TH spon is only 2500 watts, pretty efficient.  But will only mine 4 BTC if it comes in beginning September  =:0
1113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 24, 2014, 04:19:34 AM
Difficulty in Sept 35-50 B  ??
1114  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining difficulty slowing down over the next 3 months? on: June 24, 2014, 04:15:29 AM
I think the reason why 50b is a marker other than it being a nice round figure, is because many believe that at 50b, any miner not at 1TH/1kW will be out of the game. But also around that time frame many of the 0.5kW per 1TH miners will be coming online as well, for example the Spoondoley SP30 if they keep to their timeframe.

According to Hoyle, the next quantum leap will be somewhere between 25% and 27%.

It is at that point a 1 TH miner at .5 watt efficiency will roi about .28 BTC, with average electricity.

Problems with pricing machines?
1115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 23, 2014, 03:58:07 PM
They rather keep 12k cash than mine with extra miners that will roi 6 btc.
1116  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 150 AVALON CHIPS FOR SALE on: June 23, 2014, 02:50:40 PM
I think its Gen 1 type
1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 23, 2014, 08:58:06 AM
Wtf.

In line to be made.   Means not made.

Not shipped.

No more refunds.

Holding people and their money hostage.
1118  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining difficulty slowing down over the next 3 months? on: June 23, 2014, 08:31:46 AM
It will be most interesting at about 50 b difficulty when manufacturers can't build under the cost to make the machines and run the electric to positive roi.
1119  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS: Antminer S1 Bitcoin Miner + PSU's (x2) (reduced price) on: June 23, 2014, 07:40:08 AM
Even with free electricity it's only .0067 at current difficulty and the electricity is not included yet.
1120  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining difficulty slowing down over the next 3 months? on: June 23, 2014, 06:29:47 AM
Just remember that if part of the reason for the recent difficulty hike is bitmain testing S3's, when they go to sell them the difficulty doesn't increase more. Hastrate is only changing hands and not being newly produced.

Its probably a combination of them testing the s3 and KNC testing the Neptunes as they are starting to ship now.
This logic doesn't make sense to me, and what do you think that will be done with these s3's and neptunes after they will be shipped? They will get plugged by their buyers so the diff. won't go down/stop increasing anyway.

It wont go down, because for every one they sell to customers they will make 2-3 for themselves.
