nice, CHILLIN

are those PSU's for the Neptunes?

No they're the five ASIC boxes.  Those things plus a controller and a pile of PSUs are the "neptune".

I really don't get this company, how could they change the design of the final products at the last moment, without even telling the customers, they showed a single box when they did the pre-sale and now you have 5 boxes, why didn't they just stick with the 28nm and make a bunch of single miners, they just could have hired bitmain to do the final product, looks like the upcoming Antminer S1 will be similar looking.

They could have used the same 28nm chip and undervolt them, and it would have been out 5 months ago, when difficulty was 1.5 Billion

They probably are boxing up the Neptunes, hashrate dropped 7PH

will be a HUGE glut of the old boards.

For those planning to upgrade their S2's . Do you think Bitmain will provide the below parts to use the old hashing boards  instead of having them sit on a shelf ?

Would be nice, if they could sell the following only:
Quote
      1 Power Board;
       1 set of IO Board + BB Board + SD card;
       2 sets of Fans + Fans’ cover;
       1 LCD screen;

Try thinking out of the box?  Keep your S2 intact and buy two S3's  Shocked  magic!

You can think like that when you have access to unlimited power. For those that would like to put as much hashing power as possible on the same outlet, especially if no PSU upgrade is required. It is best to do the upgrade and resell the old hashing boards. That way you increase your hashing power while keeping the power requirements constant.

magic lol

The only problem is who would buy the old hashing boards, if a "motherboard" is still needed.  Who would have these

Looks like 5 AsicMiner Cubes

so basically they are holding the Neptunes hostage, and if you cant wait for physical delivery and want the cloud hashing sooner you dont get the 2nd actual machine.  Thats FUP

Smoke and mirrors, with a carrot on a stick

impossible

Is the cloud hashing being powered by old Jupiters of new Neptunes???

That's like a whole new system minus box.
1191  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: June 19, 2014, 06:49:38 AM
Preferably a 12V rail that is single and can hold all 64 (32 x 2) Amps by itself as the pci connectors go to the 12v rail.

1192  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: June 19, 2014, 06:38:13 AM
ok thnx bro means i need 65ampere 12v dc adapter for running 2 antminer s1 am i right ?
that would be safe yes. I've yet to measure it for myself to confirm but from what ive seen allowing 30amps each should be well within safety margins.
You have to qualify that. When overclocking you'll need at least 32A per unit, as I've measured draw around 15.8A overclocked at 400Mhz.

is that per blade?

Yes, 1 unit = 2 blades.

The downsize with die shrinking is more heat when the frequency is run up

EMA over $600 and rising
1195  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: June 19, 2014, 02:51:44 AM
S2 sold out?!?!?

I forgot that could happen.....  ):

Remember the s2 is basically the s1 chips on new layout board.
1196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 19, 2014, 01:19:16 AM
Yes.  But that's the whole discussion. How can that 1 connector power up 450 + watts
1197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 19, 2014, 12:11:32 AM
We are assuming 1 board per box. Perhaps there are 2 boards. Or by some amazing chance 2 connectors but they worded the announcement incorrectly.
1198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 18, 2014, 07:23:11 PM
if only a single asic and pcb per box, then why a safety hazard?
I't basically the same as the 28nm was then
edit:   oh, i see..    2100 watts/5 is 420 per plug...ouch   Double connectors (pci splitter)may be in order.....  wonder how hot those leads will be

Molex rates those Minifit-JR plugs at 8A per conductor.  Since there are three, the plug itself is rated to 24A.  KNC intends for you to run at 45.8% above the manufacturer's rating.   Any thoughts on what happens after running something like this 24/7 at 45.8% above its rated capacity?

So it's not a matter of the PSU cables, or requiring a splitter.  It's a matter of the connector that's mated to the PCB being run well past its rating.  There should be at MINIMUM two PCI-E plugs, three if you want to leave the end-user room to overclock.

Yes this is stupid, unless KNC thinks most people will make custom connections for power with correct guage wires and non-conventional power supplies.

If this is the case at least include some custom heavy duty pcie-cables (if thick enough, a single rail psu can handle it), for 12k people deserve that at least.

BTW, one of the pictures is an absolute horror show with endless rows of Jupiter modules hashing.

As PsychoticBoy said, it's disgusting. It really is.

Not more than 5%? This datorhall is probably big enough to be 100%+ of what they shipped to customers.

All our earnings are disappearing because we are competing against this (I copied it to imgur so I could embed it):

Thanks knc - assholes Angry

Here - blast from the past - lest people forget what kind of MFs they are

Did KNC have anything to say about this?
I hadn't seen this pic, it's stunning.

Say something? They bragged about it in several high-profile publications.
