Too bad I don't have a 220 line. I doubt 110 will work with it.

You can add 2 110 circuits on breaker panel to make 220 line.  Just change wall plug.  Just like the one for washer or dryer or oven.
1122  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining difficulty slowing down over the next 3 months? on: June 23, 2014, 06:23:23 AM
Just remember that if part of the reason for the recent difficulty hike is bitmain testing S3's, when they go to sell them the difficulty doesn't increase more. Hastrate is only changing hands and not being newly produced.

Its probably a combination of them testing the s3 and KNC testing the Neptunes as they are starting to ship now.
1123  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS: Antminer S1 Bitcoin Miner + PSU's (x2) (reduced price) on: June 23, 2014, 06:10:02 AM
More like .15 btc remaining in lifetime for each mining at 17% diff rise and .16 electricity.

Nah, that's a crock. Not sure how much you pay for electricity but that seems outlandish

I pay .16 for electricity.  Alot of people in Europe pay .35 or more.

Maybe you dont see the difficulty moving up to 17 Billion next week, and increasing every 13 days after that.

They need to hurry before people see the 17 Billion difficulty next week.

After S3 release you will see a significant Difficulty jump. Will be the same as S1 first orders will get better results.

Regards

Juan

if the pricing is good Smiley

We're in a secular bull market, looked at in a scale of months, in my opinion.
Drops will be temporary.
The problem I see with daytrading in such an environment is that you need to keep a cushion of fiat so that you can go in and out of the market.
Let's say you're an active trader and your holdings, averaged over time, net half crypto half fiat, because you're always buying and selling.
And you're competent enough that your trades come out in the black, on average.
That's not enough.  You have to do more than just come out in the black on your trades; you have to beat the returns you would get by hodling.
I keep most of my stake in cold storage, and play day trader with less than ten percent of it.

Using you own analysis: why not 100%?

I would like to learn how to trade, and this is my way of doing it.  I would like to learn how to trade because the recent bear market taught me the disadvantages of holding.

How is it a bear market?

It is now about $600.

Last month was $400

6 months ago was $200

Last year June was $60

18 months ago was $10

2 years ago was $6
1128  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 22, 2014, 10:18:50 PM
The price is fine for now, but i'll be a little worried if the price fail to rise (and stay) above $600 by July 1st.

Why it was only $420 last month.  Now is $595 that is a 45% increase.  And last year the price was only $80
1129  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 22, 2014, 09:50:15 PM
The price is correct now.  At 660 it was way overbought and the ema was only 540.

Now ema is 605 and still trending up.
1130  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 22, 2014, 09:17:43 PM
I don't see how any logical bidder would pay even close to 95% of current market value for the coins. Buyers go to auctions to buy things at discount.

Every auction I've ever observed sold its wares for prices ludicrously over their market value. I think the average buyer thinks they're going to get a bargain because it's an auction. If everyone else thinks that then bargains go out the window.

I wouldn't want to make any predictions about this auction though. It's a unique happening.

These are blocks of thousands of bitcoins. The investors are not weekend garage sale hunters on a $50 budget.  They want an edge of 10 20 30% off because they have cash on hand.

1132  Economy / Speculation / Re: Automated posting on: June 22, 2014, 08:39:33 PM

this situation reminds me about:

well... Bitcoin price is "Rebels" and "Empire" will be those who are bearish... in this case.

What will make a price go over $700?

We need to support harded! Better! Stronger! Smiley and forever!

You would have to spend millions and millions of dollars to buy the coins people are selling under $700 to make the price go above 700

Gonna be biggest diff jump yet?

There was a 46% jump in October
1134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 22, 2014, 05:59:23 PM
Apologies if this was answered previously, I'm very far behind on this thread.

From what I've read a Neptune is 5 boxes and draws 2100 watts and each box has 1 PCI-e 6-pin power cable, that means that each single power cable is 420 watts, when a 6-pin is rated at 75 watts.  I know I've been running a November board and October boards at 190 to 200 watts on a single cable, and they get warm.... is there some mistake about the 1 PCI-e cable to power a 420 watt chip???

Technically the Neptune's boxes draw a total of ~1900W if you factor in AC/DC efficiency.  Molex's PCI-E keyed parts are rated for 8A per pin, so ~24A.  Which, at 12V gives you a rated operational power level of 288W.  However, in reality when you load things 24/7 you should de-rate them by 80%, so really any competent EE would not have these connectors drawing over ~230W (~19A @ 12V) in this type of application.  Now, we don't know the part number of the plug that KnC used, and some of Molex's Mini-fit Jr plugs handle up to 13A a pin which would allow ~468W running at their rating.  De-rate that and you're at ~375W which is just shy of each cubes ~380W draw.

TL;DR: There's 1 PCI-E cable per box, so yes: shitty Engineering.

Also most psu 6/8 pin pci-e wires are 18awg instead of 16awg.

Well, with my estimate of more than half of the neptune orders refunded (because more than half the miners can do basic maths) and some people who went for the frankenjupiters,
they have easily got 1000+ Neptunes to simply install in their DC.

They made alot more than the pre-ordered units, wouldnt surprise me if they are pointing those at other pools to hide hash power.

Holy Cow, the power of 700 Radeon 7950 gpus at 1.4 watts each comparatively mining power.

They said will ship this week, do they really ship?

They are testing something now, check out the KNC Miner moving to third position today.  https://blockchain.info/pools?timespan=24hrs

5PH increase is like 1700 Neptunes

Did you factor that difficulty increases every 13 days?

June 30 is estimated to be 17 Billion already.

In 5 months will be 90 Billion

Hey guys/gals(if any), shipping of the Neppy's is nearing ever so closely..has anyone done the mining calculations? one of my friends has 4 Neppy's incoming batch 2(order #180XX), he is pretty upset now because after doing his mining calculations he told me he would be lucky to mine 30BTC by Dec 2014 with all 4 Neps hashing away, is this true Huh? can anyone elaborate with possibly some calculations from more seasoned mining veterans?

~Thanks

If you received them this week.

I think around 6 btc each. By december it will be pretty much done.

Batch 2 will be less. Less
