You only lose if you buy high and sell low.

Or sell low and buy back high.

I just noticed the disconnect of LTC price from BTC around mid-April.

The last great miner for the masses.
1284  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.414 BTC for 180GH/s on: June 06, 2014, 02:34:47 AM
0.409 per S1 now

0.409X663=~$271

the bump in BTC probably moved S1 EOL by at least a month.

It will EOL when the farms are cleared out.
1285  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining difficulty slowing down over the next 3 months? on: June 06, 2014, 02:31:47 AM
A  Big chunk of the profits being mined are re-invested into more equipment to offset the rising hashrate.  But the initial investment is not 100% recouped.

In 5 years the Titan chip will be worth .50 cents and a current Intel g3220 will be worth still $5-10
1287  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit, sales price changes daily, now $2247 per Kit on: June 05, 2014, 10:23:42 AM

When people say that the rig is pulling 1050 they mean using their watt-o-meter, all the slightly lower efficiency means is that it pulls a few Watts more from the wall.

1050 watts at the wall in the case of the PSU on the S2 would mean its probably providing 916W to the miner (87.3% efficient) in fact in order to provide 1000W to the miner it would be pulling 1154W from the wall  Shocked

My kill-a-watt reports just on ~ 9 amps on a US 120v circuit for the S2, when cranking ….

9A @ 120V = 1080W
9A @ 110V = 990W

I thought the US was on 110v?

The most common pair is 120/240 bit there is 110/220. Actual voltage at outlet can vary 3-5% because of other factors like distance and wire size as the power is delivered to the house.

The upgrade Could be another half step up with new boards with more chips and under volted more. That's why they leave psu to customer.

Next next phase is newer chip design?

I don't see how this saves a lot of money if you need all new boards and chips. Only the motherboard is reused??
1290  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 05, 2014, 09:02:21 AM
Obviously If you had 5000 by you can have your secretary sell them.
1291  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 05, 2014, 08:45:51 AM
If you sold 5000 on bit stamp market order it would drop price on exchange to $500 or less. Let me put in my limit order to buy at $505, 450, and 400.

Damn  2800 watts.  That needs a 30 amp circuit.  They might as well make it 240v and do double 15.

It's how deep the candles run that matters

I'm guessing no one notices that this guy's trust level is -6.

Escrow or not, don't give scammers the time of day.  It's like feeding goats at a petting zoo.  You feed them once and they'll bite you on the ass for more.

No, but China has the biggest BTC traders and that affects the market price.  They also are the largest manufacturers of the asic chips that mine them as well.
