These are average rates taken by the US governent for census purposes.  But they are not totally accurate as they include the wholesale cost and another expense, but they do not include the use of delivery line and another charge which is about another .04 to .05 that is not refllected in that chart.  So delivered cost is about .04-.05 higher. When the consumer get the bill.

Now that's an unfair bet. Why the difference in power costs?

No it's not an unfair bet because many pay less than $0.1/kwh for home electricity but almost nobody pays less than $0.15/kwh for DC hosting.

Quote
As I previously said no normal miner and no big mining operation will buy 84kg miners for 6TH at ~6.5KW power requirement. I can host my SP30 at home, can't say the same about rockminer miners.

Normal miners have 50-2000w worth of hardware.

Big mining operations (50kw+) will not care about weight(shipping pallets is cheap) and they won't care 50% efficiency since they pay less than $0.05/kwh.

Sp30s are for those miners who are somewhere inbetween which is inefficient because you need to pay someone to host them.

Average electricity rate in US is .16  it can vary as low as .08 in Washington to as high as .37 in california and new york.  MIne here in PA is .16 total, you are looking at rate of electricity cost and delivery, etc.  This is total cost on your bill.

Most sources dont have the total cost.

Add another .04 to .05 to the US for correct prices, for delivery,   for the transportation use of lines etc.

Hashrate goes down when price is rising, now hashrate is goin up while btc price is falling.

99.5 Billion now

Energy use is secondary now that hashrate is 99.5 Billion and rising.

Ghash loses money on the regular hardware miners to make it back on cloud hashing and reselling hash.

Remember it was $440 last month, so still up alot.

Lol this is true.   Anyone who thinks they are buying new equipment may want to try Tiger Direct.

Last time we were around 600s, there were 15 million in loans. This time, it is 25 million. The longs are ballooning up without reason, and I sense another Bitcoinica.

Can't it be that Bitfinex is simply getting bigger and more popular? Like Bitstamp's orderbook was getting bigger pretty fast in the wake of Gox stumbling and failing? I remember that in the past Bitfinex was always out of USD to borrow, which prevented the loans to reach new ATHs then. Maybe they're growing out of that phase now as people are getting fed up of Stamp and don't trust BTC-e.

They lend out money at high interest rates and there are enough btc gamblers that are willing to pay it so they can play in the btc casino.

Conspiracy theorists will say insiders knew of the Expedia news and bought 1-2 weeks early. Then sold off near the peak.

Why are they dumping? New miners?

Because the s1 is not as power efficient as the newer designs.  And it is past their 6 month life cycle.
1234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 13, 2014, 04:53:50 AM
the sp30 price was $4495.00 incl shipping that ships in august

And RoadStress is trying to get $5K for September delivery ? What a tosser ...

August had 2 batches....spondoolies was imho trying to grab market share (which i think they did ) new kid on the block

the 5K for september is the batch 1 number....not sure of price on batch 2 for september

spondoolies is in house they farm stuff out 'continuiously' as they can ..build as they go...thus the above batch arrangement
which seems to get the stuff out in the timeline they mention (so far) with little trouble

but as in my previous post

at 575 coin...just buy coin....elec and a/c etc at least for me at 15c kwh even at a low 40 diff increase a month

buying bitcoin right now vs equipment is dead even from my guesses

(hey again no slam we are all guessing here)

but timeline/vs $$$ invested in the equip is the issue...KNC at this time is over priced imho that may change..to 'salvage' the
Neptune to at least a break even situation...they need to get everyone's their equip in hand by July 15th (same  2 week rush
out like original 28mm equip last oct 2013)...with that done again imho it is a wash

if people don't get equip (or equiv plan b hashing) till say middle of august well ouch

anyway my view i know squat..i have a Titan (no refund) coming

Searing

The key ingredient here is to use people's pre order money to currently mine then resell the used equipment at market price and keep lowering as diff increases but they are mining them in meantime.  They can go as low as their cost to build the machine.  They get away with what they can.  No one wants to be a hero now with the difficulty rising and with buyers buying less equipment as they suspect the jig is up. Meaning they know the game is  up soon.
1235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 13, 2014, 04:48:56 AM
For ego maybe but its not cost effective:

It cost maunfacturers $500-600 per TH now and thats only 1.5w/gh performance, KNC cant even buy at price because they dont manufacture the chips themselves.  Prob cost them  $1000 TH to build their machines.

Samsonn25, no bitcoin ASIC miner company manufactures their own chips. They all have similar design and foundry costs.

Companies in China can design and manufacture faster for themselves.  Such as bitmain and others.  Less r and d now because they improve what they can from previous gen. Not trying to be pioneers as time is too much of a risk factor.

and some miners were hoarding mined coins to sell when the price went up

Shouldnt drop below 500, if it does next major support is 430.

"1.  How do you know what $/GH and J/GH KNC are going to deliver in the Neptune ? (hint: you do know that the Titan has gone from 100mh to 400mh since it was offered for sale … what will you do if KNC deliver a 12TH Neptune ? Cancel your SP30 orders ? Sorry - no refunds on SP30 orders … )

2.  How do you know what kind of manufacturing capabilities KNC has so that you can confidently say "shipping out obviously another 30-60 days after batch 1 is released" ?

3.  Do you have a prejudice against the Chinese ? FWIW Chinese companies like Foxconn probably make half the stuff you own, including your IPhone, and their QC is excellent.

4.  If RoadStress is so confident that the SP30 is such a better deal than the Neptune he won't have a problem agreeing to match Neptune $/GH and then we can see what KNC ships. If its a 3TH machine, he hasn't got anything to worry about. If he won't agree to match KNC, then he's just trying to dump SP30 machines at the best possible price before KNC ship their monster Neptune machine. Thats what shills do."

I am  well intentioned unbiased.

1.  I dont know final mining specs for knc jupiter or titan, but they dont have any working prototypes yet for wither machine.  Why would KNC deliver 12TH Nptune if they took all the money 21 million for the suckers that prepaid already and they only promised minimum 3TH?  they are not stupid.  As a matter of fact they can still sell 3TH Neptunes for 6k

2.  It is possible KNC can ship faster that scheduled.  But also possibility they can delay again, even the promised cloud hashing compensation is late, so you think about their credibility.

3.  Chinese makers are the fastest, thats why im sure they are studying the KNC chip design to see if they can improve on it.

4.  We will see, as its a possibility KNC can ship in July so thats earlier than the Sp30.

All depends on shipping any real product out.

Still if KNC only ships 3-4TH in earliest July timeframe the 1 month headstart is probably not enough in savings to a 6TH for 5k in August.  This includes the Free 3TH Neptune KNC promises after Batch 2 is finished shipping out.

Lets see what Bitmain can do this month.  lol     As its a good time to take some market share if they stop being greedy.

1240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 13, 2014, 03:15:31 AM
It is only the batch 2 that is 6k but that come after batch 1.

Let me get this straight ? Batch 2 comes after batch 1 …

Nepune batch 1 was 12k, Batch 2 is 6k  But batch 2 customers have to wait until batch ones is finished shipping out obviously another 30-60 days after batch 1 is released.

Thats why batch 2 its 6k cheaper than batch1 Neptune.  You know this already

So you trying to compare Batch 1 or batch 2 neptune to sp30 on price is utterly stupid.    not to mention they are less powerful and use more energy.   The Jewish also have more QC over their manufacturing than the Chinese-subs KNC uses.

However KNC might have a better time advantage  if they can actually come out as they claim at end of this month, and then really push the batch 2 late July-early Aug.
