PLEASE do not change the name of a technology everyone already knows. While Mr. Spread rewrote masternode code, the idea behind it is still the same. They're masternodes. Evan Duffield deserves the respect of not renaming his technology AND we will be causing ourselves headaches as well.
If you change the name you're going to be explaining what a fucking Spreadnode is 400x a day.
InstantX is also a known technology that works over the masternodes. DO NOT change the name!
Let's see if Mr. Spread decides to do anon and if he does, how he implements it before we discuss name changes there.

completelly agreed. Just not sure if InstantX really applies to SPR. Is it the same technology, or at leats a similar one to deserve the same name? InstantX has to go away, we can't use that, that's a no brainer. Should we implement an anonymization technique we should obviously also not call it DarkSend. Nobody doubts that. But what if masternodes isn't the cool name everybody makes it look like? Who again knows what a "masternode" is outside of darkcoin circles? Try to view the world with the eyes of an outsider... I think calling our nodes something like ServerNodes makes everyone (even outsiders) immediately understand what those nodes do. |

We want to differentiate from darkcoin, not bitcoin.  What if I told you that masternode is a horrible name for a cryptocurrency that stands for decentralization? Everybody understands "blockchain", it makes sense, it's a chain of blocks. D'uh. Everybody understands "miner", they are mining for coins like a miner in a goldmine. But masternode? What exactly is so "master" about them? Who are they the master of?  I never understood that. I think if we call our nodes something like ServerNodes then it is much more self-explanatory, right? |

You are absolutely right. I think it's troublesome that both DRK and SPR use the word "masternode"... and "instantX".... As far as I am concerned, those words belong to DRK. I advocate that spreadcoin uses its own names for its technologies, so that it is not constantly associated with DRK. I agree, SPR should adapt the names SpreadNode/SpreadSeed & Instant Spread. Spreadnode is cool. But instant spread is still very similar to instant x. If we just could get rid of the word "instant" and replace it with something that goes well with "spread"? |

Maybe after all the Darkcoin and Spreadcoin hate fades maybe the devs can think of a way for them both to work together in the future. Create some type of project that utilizes both networks. Could be a cool collaboration. Spread the Dark. lol
Absolutely, and even if the communities and devs won't ever work together AT ALL.... the strong market incentive to install a spreadcoin masternode side by side with a darkcoin masternode is very motivating to the actual users. Why not earn some extra money, it's not like the server cares if it has one or two daemons installed. So in the end, the users/customers will decide it, as always. |

The issue boils down to the fact that SPR does what DRK does only better, or at least it will. I an easily see a price of $2 per coin once spreadnodes and instantX comes out. Darkcoin supporter or not, everyone should invest at least a little into this coin.
Here's my humble opinion on why there is hostility: posts like this one. Look at the post history of njs811. Once again, cryptocurrencies are such a small market/niche that it only hurts everyone by comparing each other and saying X is better than Y. When communities work together, that's when they strive. While I tend to agree with you... njs811 just gave his opinion about where he sees this coin go in the future and why. I think he's entitled to do that. There is nothing wrong with that. Now, it would be weird if he were to do that in the DRK thread, then I would agree with you. So, you see... just a few posts earlier we had oblox from the darkcoin team, arriving here and preaching about DRKs fantastic rise in price. You see the difference? But still even that I don't find really bothering. Those are just friendly feuds. People! Let's ignore the real trolls, like hippie, horizontalcrapper and sine_fuck... those are the people who are only here to cause a mess. And I think we can handle them easily by just ignoring them. Block them, destroy their quotes, etc... Don't give them anything, especially your time or attention. |

Now we are working to reach 1440 elected MNs as soon as possible. Because then we can test the "booting" of the weakest link MN. As a suggestion, when you are testing, you might want to install Masternodes with atleast 300 tSPR in them. Sure, the minimum is 100 tSPR, but those take a loooooong time to be elected by the network. And what we now need most are elected nodes, not plain running nodes. (we have over 1700 of them already....) So everybody.... if you are going to install an mn, please start one with 300 tSPR... this way it will be elected in about 3 hours or so. |
