Have it from a trusted source now that Mr. Spread will reemerge within 24 hours....

Ok, but will it be the same person?  Grin

Just kidding.

So wait... testing is on going and the dev is missing so no feedback from testing is of any value?

Testing has been going on for about 12 days, and the community was very supportive and we have given a lot of feedback to Mr. Spread.
During the first 7 days he gave comments to our feedback.

We found a lot of things that should be improved, so the testing round was a total success in that it did what it was supposed to do: pointing out bugs and inconsistencies.

Now for about 5 days Mr. Spread has been missing, and nobody knows exactly why.

I expect a good explanation when he is back.

Yes, but none of the bugs and inconsistencies have been worked on. The testing branch hasn't been touched in 9 days... I guess it looks sloppy but then again, I'm clearly biased to how Evan does things.

But why should he touch the testing branch while the testing of this specific testing branch is still going on?
It's ok to wait until testing is over.

Hey guys has someone been in touch with Mr. Spread lately?
I was about to deepen my knowledge of SPR but now I am bit concerned.
Cheers.

His wallet hasn't changed. That's a good sign. If he ditched the coin and ran he would have at least tried to sell it.

What's his wallet address?

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/spr/address.dws?7603.htm

Wow, dude's loaded with SPR.
Have known about SPR for almost 2 months now but I didn't know he was #1.
I bet he's on vacation somewhere far away from civilization.
Don't think that is Dev's wallet. It has 2589 addresses, more like an Exchange wallet.

Yep, that's bittrex.

In the meantime, i see 1440 MN!

What does that mean?

Was that the upper limit on Master Nodes?

Yes.

We are now testing what happens when a new MN kicks the weakest MN out of the network.

Weakest?

What does that mean?

Why isn't there an auction for participation? The wallets with the least SPR get kicked off, provided everyone can meet the minimum infrastructure requirements.

Once we have a maximum of 1440 elected MNs, and a new MN (the 1441st) successully gets elected,
it means that now we have 1441 elected MNs, but now someone has to go. Which one?
The weakest link (the MN with the fewest SPR in it, or the MN at the rank 1440) gets kicked out.

There can only be 1440 elected MNs, and if you are willing to invest more in your MN then it will get a higher ranking position than a lower MN.

We have given Mr. Spread enormous amounts of feedback during the test round 2.

I am sure it gave him a lot of ideas how he can improve and adjust the code for the next test round 3.

So relax and stay tuned.

We will hear from him shortly.

The name should be changed to just SPR.

Uff, atleast that's an improvement over last time (about a month ago) when you suggested we change our name to MEH!
(that was so hilarious I'll remember my LOL for a long time)

 Grin

I just sold half my SPR because Mr. Spread hasn't logged in for awhile.  Has me nervous.  Sad

Lol, well the community thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for spreading the spreadcoins around!
damn i don't have any BTC left Sad

Me too...

Anyway. Let's get ready and prepare for when the next guy gets cold feet.  Grin
Good fortune favours the well prepared.

I don't mean to spook you guys, but he also moved the coins people donated to him and hasn't logged into spreadcointalk.org since the 14th...

Some people have 9 to 5 workdays. You can't expect Mr. Spread to be lurking in the forums 24/7.
Also, if you really want to know Mr. Spreads activity you should check github.

That's the only activity that matters.

I'd release the working bins for probably around 2 BTC - which is about what I'd make off it in the next 31 days.

2 BTC ~ 6666 SPR
6666 SPR / 31 ~ 215 SPR/day
Daily minted SPR ~ 9000
Net hash ~ 4000 MH/s

(215/9000) * 4000 ~ 95 MH/s.

How many 290's are you running?

wow, you are a veritable detective!

Again, not what I'm running, my fee.

Yes, I saw your answer too late.

Darkcoin sees SPR on the street.... Who's having all the fun?

I'm trying to figure out if the guy is driving or the girl is walking backwards. Smiley

Easy, look at the mirror image in the window...

You can't. But the other 99.999% of the general public can. Shocked

I know this is crypto, but don't be cryptic. Explain.

LOL, quote of the year!

That's the really scary thing about government... that it can be used as tool by any well financed and connected industry to further their agenda, or crush someone they don't like.

I think the biggest threat/regulation/limitation will come from government licensing efforts... as is already happening up north: "Québec Mandates Bitcoin ATMs, Trading Platforms Obtain Licenses" http://www.coindesk.com/quebec-province-bitcoin-regulation/

This bureaucracy is so messed up!  Angry

It's not about trusting Evan.  It's about not trusting the entities that could wield power over him if so desired.

Good point!

At present, Darkcoin is like Napster with its centralized servers.  The government got pissed at Napster and it was done.  Digital cash, as disruptive as it is going to be, needs to be unable to be shutdown by anyone.

Or to be more precise,
the music industry got pissed at napster and used government as a tool to shutdown Napster.

That's the really scary thing about government... that it can be used as tool by any well financed and connected industry to further their agenda, or crush someone they don't like.

I look at the dev of a coin as the captain of a ship.

He is important because he helped build the ship, he hired a crew, he started the cruise, and he keeps us on course.
But he is also just a human, he can go crazy, and then a mutiny might be appropriate. He might also get sick and die, so it's important that other people also figure out how to control this ship.
But obviously - most of the time - such fears are baseless and we don't concern ourselves much with such scenarios.

But the one thing I want to have certainty over - at all times - is the quality of the ship.

What material is it built of?
How fast is it? How sturdy is it?
How well does it handle stormy weather?
Is it fully fueled?
